The fish is excellent. Breading is thick but crunchy, not soggy at all. Chips are not my favourite style but are more traditional for fish n chips and still delicious. All comes wrapped in paper made to look like newspaper like you would get them in England.

We have been Ordering from Fergies since it opened. We have always found the food to be the finest Fish and Chios in town. Tasty and sumptuous. Cost is acceptable as the product is well worth the price. Staff are always friendly, prompt and courteous. An amazing place and a must try for anyone who enjoys a good fish dinner.

Visited the place today and ordered fish and chips. Pickeral - hearty 3 pieces for 15cad. Though we liked the taste, it made us sleepy in 30 minutes. Think it's the cooking oil - may be canola, is the issue. The fries and chips were too heavy coz of oil. Don't think of coming back again.

So the fish and chips comes with a large quantity of really good chips. The cod that I had was a good size portion, but I have to say the breading was, to me, oily. I was part of a large group, and I was not alone in that observation. Still, a lot of complements were offered up, so don't shy away from trying it out.

About once a year I go to The Forks with my family and we always get fish and chips at Fergies. The service is quick, the food is very nourishing and tastes delicious, and the price is inexpensive. For 3 meals it cost only about $36.The decor is Forks decor so it isn't impressive. We always just go and eat outside with a view of the river.

Fergie's fish and chips is my kryptonite. Its the only reason I go to the Forks. It is consistently good, and good value for money. They offer cod, pickerel and halibut in 3 portion sizes (1, 2 or 3 pieces of fish), chowder, and poutine. I have to admit I typically buy a regular cod which is two pieces of fsh and chips.

As their menu is limited to fish, chips, and chowder, the wait time is extremely quick and you will not be left in line for very long. Everything is homemade, including fries, which is the way it should be. This is the best fried fish you will find in the city. The breading on the fish is crispy and always cooked perfectly. Extremely consistent - you always get what you expect. That is to say you get huge portions, especially for the price. This restaurant is a gem of Winnipeg and one of the best restaurants at the Forks, year after year.

I have never had a bad experience here. The food is always fresh, you can watch them cutting everything, battering it and cooking it. The wait is usually shorter than 10 minutes even when there's a lineup and the owner is a super friendly person. Prices are good, in line with other fish and chips places I've been to across Canada.

I try to give some extra credit cuz with covid being a pain in all of our sides... However, I was not a big fan today of my visit. It's been maybe a few years since I last visited Fergies and-I'm not a bit fish fan-but the halibut here made me love halibut (baby steps) Bought a 2pc of halibut, fries, and curry gravy. Seems like the pieces of halibut are big fish sticks now (where I seem to recall them looking differently). One tasted dry, and the other one was good. I had diff coloured fries, so some where sitting from a diff batch and wasn't as fantastic as I rememeber this place to be. Also, if you're not a fan of raw onion like me, stay away from the tartar sauce cuz it's all in there. Sorry guys. :(

Visited Fergies while at the Forks for lunch. The fresh Manitoba pickerel was delicious. I'm not even a walleye fan but i think Fergies may have turned me into one! The seafood chowder wasn't as good, more like a fish chowder. Would like to see some variety with the contents but overall still a decent value. Great place to stop when at the Forks.

We came here after our skate date. We were so hungry and cold after skating about 1 hour. We got their signature Fish & Chips with 3 pickerels and add an extra pickerel and tartar source to share. Then we also got beer from the Comons. Ohh man, the batter was perfectly crunchy and the fish was so fresh, moist and soft. We just couldn't stop eating them till our plate got empty. Their tartar source is great with fish. I highly recommend getting an extra source if you order more than 2 fish with your meal. Needless to say but beer tasted amazing with this greasy dinner.

I went there for some (pickerel) fish and chips for a quick supper. The service was quick, the prices weren't too bad and the fish was pretty good! The fish was a little on the greasy side as were the fries, but they tasted good and the tartar sauce was great though the serving size was small. All in all, it was a good, not great experience and if I'm in the forks hankering for some fish, I'll definitely consider going back!

Expect long line ups. The way they package the good order is unique and I suppose more the british way. Starting off with the chowder - if you like something fishy tasting...it definitely hits that mark but beyond that it tasted more like fish + water. Let alone, there is a LOT of misc seafood contents in it but it just lacks flavour and creaminess. Not soemthing I would order again. The fish and chips comes with three options of fish: cod, pickerel or halibut and prices reflect upon the fish you choose. The fries were good/decent . The pickerel was a thin yet large piece of fish with mild fish taste to it. Their tartar sauce is something I would rave the most about. Meanwhile their gravy was ok. It worked well with the fries.

Its okay the fish pieces are small. The chowder didn't have much flavor other then fish. The vinegar was weak. So literally drenching your fries only gives a hint of flavor. The covid protocol is a joke. Everyone just grabs their own utensils and uses the same condiments. I was in the area for about 30 minutes and not once did they sanitize any of the high contact areas.

Best fish n chips in Winnipeg. Very popular restaurant for tourist because it is located at the Forks Market. But very much appreciated by locals because it is close to downtown at the Forks. It is a kiosk style restaurant with lots of seating available in the market. It can get very busy at lunch and on weekends. For fish, you have a choice of pickeral, cod or halibut. I choose pickeral always because it is caught locally. Fish is properly battered and not greasy. Not fishy tasting and light and flaky. The chips are home style freshly cut. Served old school ala newspaper takeout container. The prices are very reasonable. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. They have been serving great food for years. Wheelchair accessible. Lots of parking. Not licensed but can get beer and wine to drink in the market.

Fergie's was fantastic!!! We tried the cod and pickerel. My favorite was the pickerel. Not only was the container creative, this was the best fish and chips I have ever had!! I was only on Winnipeg for a few days but I had to go back before I left. It's one your taste buds will remember.

Best fish & chips I had in a long time! 10/10! The food tasted fantastic as it feel like I’m in England! It took us long enough to wait, which I understand because I’m assuming they’re trying to make it good, which it is! Once again, best fish & chips, I’d come back every week The fish is excellent. Breading is thick but crunchy, not soggy at all. Chips are not my favourite style but are more traditional for fish n chips and still delicious. All comes wrapped in paper made to look like newspaper like you would get them in England.

First visit to The Forks, the entire market smelled fantastic. Found Fergies tucked away in the back corner and decided fish and chips was the way to go. Not disappointed. The halibut was bright white and tasted fantastic, definitely fresh. Loved the service, very cheerful fellow at the front. Unfortunately I don't live in Winnipeg but it will be a future stop on other visits.

I’ve been to Fergie’s Fish N Chips a bunch of times and it’s always been really good. The fish tastes fresh and is lightly battered. They always serve it with fries, fresh lemon and tartar sauce, all of which have always been fresh and well-presented. While the fish and chips are good year round, it’s especially satisfying during the winter when you come in from the cold (e.g., after a skate on the river) and crave a warm meal.

My family orders the family tub of halibut by phone about 4 times a year ($124) I tried to call in our order today so I can run in and get it as we're a family of 6 who quit often can’t get into a store all together. Was told they won’t take my order over the phone unless it was more than $150. I guess it’s Joeys Only from here on out.

Opted for the single meal, which consisted of one piece of fish, regular chips and a bowl of seafood chowder. It wasn't quite the same as fish and chips in my native England, but a valiant effort nevertheless. The fish was crisp and tasty. The chips weren't bad either. The seafood chowder was the biggest leg down, it wasn't the most flavoursome. Service was polite and reasonably efficient.

Simply the Best, and, top rated!! If you really "dig" fish and chips... and have an "exacting palette" this is your kind of restaurant! It is located in the Forks complex and is definitely the highest rated (by travellers) restaurant in the complex!! The menu is "specialised"... and they provide excellent service. Although the "atmosphere" isn't great, the quality of the dishes more than makes up for this!! When in the Forks- do yourself a favour, and pay it a visit! You will be very glad that you did. I always enjoy Fergies Fish n Chips when I go. Their "regular" order of fish/chips is a good amount for 1 person from what I remember. Also, try their deep-fried Mars bars and cheesecake. As far as I know, nobody else in the city does it. So good!

Hoping that a Fergies goes in the new foodcourt in KP Mall since there is one in both Polo Park and St Vital Malls Transconians love their fish , and we think it would be a success out here as well . Best fish and chips in the city. Best ordered on a hot summer day and take the fish, wrapped in newspaper, out for a walk and nibble on it while you take in the sites of The Forks. The service is always excellent too. You get lots of fries too so you won't go hungry with a one piece meal.

Usually alright but today I was ignored by the staff member for 5 minutes while there was absolutely no one else in line. I said 'excuse me!' as I felt clearly ignored. He looked back at me, I asked if they were open and he turned back around and continued to ignored me. I know they are open but will probably be the last time I will go there. It only takes one bad interaction to loose customers. This does not reflect all staff just the Saturday worker

We were touring through the Forks Market when we came across Fergies. A regular customer was there and going on about their Pickerel bites. Cold pieces of pickerel done with a tasty dressing. So we tried some. Delicious. Then we had fish (pickerel) and chips. Amazing for any restaurant even more so for a market. Presentation is great. Lots of food. Living in a fishing village I have come to know my fish and chips and Fergies would fit right in. We would highly recommend trying Fergies!!!
