They have some nice quality specialty items like fresh halibut from Haida Gwaii and frozen crab legs and lobster. Service is slow and not consistently friendly. The frozen crab cakes are yummy, great to have on hand.

This is an odd little place. A fish store with a take-out kitchen, but they also have a few small tables to eat in store. Price was reasonable for a good serving of fish and chips.

Really good food but the issue I have with this place is the extraordinary amount of packaging and waste that goes along with the great food. I don't think I'll ever get take out from here again because of that.

Use to be fantastic. Small thin dry fish with soggy batter and very very expensive ! Got a craving so gave the place another try. Ordered 2 x2 piece halibut and got cod or haddock small dry and mushy hardly any fries and rotten lemon wedges. Never again ! Did this place get new owners or management ???

Tried it for the first time today (West Kelowna location) and it was delicious!! We tried the fish and chips, Prawns and Oysters. Best oysters I’ve had since my last trip to Connecticut. The portion of fish and chips is very generous !! Price is cheaper than any other fish and chips place around. The fish was very fresh. I grew up on the East Coast where many of my relatives were fishermen so I believe I know my fish. Kudos, I will be back again to try some other items on your menu.

Great little seafood shop. I always have great customer service coming here. I was there yesterday and tried their fish tacos with french fries with my daughter. They were delicious. I was a little disappointed that there was no tip option on their pin pad when i went to pay and i had no cash on hand to tip these hard working people. Maybe a option in the near future? I will definitely be back.

no mask exemptions. Refused to allow me to pay for my take out order without a mask. The employees informed me it was the bosses orders to not serve people who are unable to wear masks. We love this place, have been going for years, but will not support a business that will not accept our money without covering our face.

After nearly a year and since we were at the medical clinic a block away, we decided to pickup some fish and chips with the works. But to our disappointment, after confirming that we needed two one piece halibut meals, being asked to pay for the meals before it was packed, handed over and after being made to wait for over 30 minutes, we reach home to find that the fish was cold (seemed like it was fried and it just lay around before being packed) and to add to it, there was no tartare sauce and lemon. I immediately called the store, only to be told that - oh just come and pick it up. No apology - they got their money so what do we care. Like in all that heat we should be ready to drive back to pick up part oF the order that they forgot to pack.

The fish wasn't even cooked properly the batter was very soggy. I had to put in oven grose. Next attempt pathetic got the smallest pieces of fish. I do not recommend this place at all. Over priced rip off restaurant

Sure, it's expensive, but you get away you pay for. You wait slightly longer than fast food, but much shorter than a restaurant. I'm not even a fan of fish and I'll keep coming back. A++

We were told about this wonderful seafood shop by friends. They sell fresh seafood and will cook you up an order of very tasty fish and chips. My boyfriend and I shared a two piece and really enjoyed it. We would recommend it to others and if we lived closer, would definitely buy our fish there.

This has been my go-to place for fish since moving to West Kelowna. The selection is great, the fish is always fresh, and the owners make a point of buying from sustainable sources. Also, their smoked salmon nuggets are the best ANYWHERE! I highly recommend Buy the Sea.

Highly Recommended! I purchased the two piece fish and chips and this is the best I have tried in West Kelowna. There is also fresh fish available to purchase as this is primarily a seafood store. The ice was well stocked at 6 pm so quality looks good. The only thing I would change is the fries, they are good but have had better.

My wife and I are new to West Kelowna and being British and love fish and chips we went out to find a restaurant that we could try. Buy the Sea is close to where we live so we gave it a go. We ordered the lunch menu and it came with chips or coleslaw which I found odd as most fish and chip shops provide both with the meal. The fish was excellent and fries I was hoping would be home cut fries but were the precut chips from a bag. I will go back and try it again but hope the owners will consider making the fries home cut.

I normally love this place always get great service but today was the worst I have had if this was my first meal there I wouldn't have come back. I ordered a cod burger with fries and extra sauce I don't know if they have new batter but it's horrible and just crumbled The cod tasted even worse just tasted like water. Normally it's delicious . I asked the man for extra sauce when he handed me my order I asked him again there are 2 sauces right he said yes . Just to get to my work and find out there is only one and no piece of lemon either. I don't know what happened but it used to be soo good! Disappointed for sure! You all can do so much better!

Finally, Kelowna has a fish store worth buying from. A few weeks ago I made some inquiries online about this store’s products. Yesterday the owner of Buy the Sea called to tell me that he just got fresh swordfish in, so I bought some today. The first thing that impressed me was the complete lack of that fishy smell that is characteristic of “fresh” fish bought at other places in town. This fish was indeed FRESH, just as advertised. I marinated it for an hour in an orange ginger tamari soya sauce that I made from scratch before grilling it on the bbq. Fantastic! With every bite I felt like I was transported to Hawaii. Thank you Buy the Sea! You’ve made a loyal customer out of me.
