The shop is located several minutes off the trans Canada highway and has a very nice amethyst gift shop along with a specialty food shop for fish and other local foodstuffs. The shop keeper was very friendly and there was a lot to choose from and according to the owner everything was made by local artists. The only drawback was that the pieces of raw amethyst was very expensive. I suggest going to the local mines to get a better deal.

This was our second time here and despite it being quite a different experience, as a result of the precautions in place due to Covid-19, we absolutely loved stopping here. The food is always fantastic and very fresh, Liisa is so warm, welcoming and willing to help you find the perfect souvenirs! Can't wait to go back!

My family and I love the Fish Shop. We bought our camp nearby a few years ago and we have now become regular customers at the Fish Shop. They have fresh fish products, baked goods and farm eggs. Our favourite items are the salmon and trout pates and the butter tarts. We have brought some of our out of town guests to their adjacent gift shop to buy amethyst souvenirs to take home. If you can't make it all the way to Shuniah to the Fish Shop, you can buy their fish products at the Saturday country market in Thunder Bay.

Poor service, the blonde lady is rude and just yells at people. Avoid the smoked fish as it goes bad extremely fast. Smoke is a natural preservative, so they are cooking bad fish. Avoid if you want to stay healthy and not get food poisoning.

Unfortunately, the customer service was absolutely dreadful. It was very shocking to be treated so rudely by both owners. Perhaps this is a rare occurrence, but it left myself and my group of friends feeling immensely uncomfortable and insulted.

These people are far from service dog friendly. Check out the video from the local television station in late July 2018. They had the opportunity to respond but refused to comment. They refused me entry to their store because i had a service dog. The man who maybe was the owner literally lost his mind when he saw i had a service dog. He was screaming waving his arms , talking nonsense , so i told my wife lets leave. As we were sitting in the parking lot he must have thought we were taking to long to leave and once again he lost his mind , came out screaming and yelling , talking about his rabbit???? Anyhow we left reported it to the local news station who did a news video on the evening news. They declined comment.

Pulled off the main highway and followed the signs to this quaint shop on the side of the water. Scenic drive and beautiful location. I went in for the smoked fish and was surprised to visit an elaborate gift shop. I enjoyed my experience there, and the owner/salesperson was full of stories about each item she carried in the shop. In the end I came away with some fish and some amethyst jewellery ! The three star rating is based on the quality of maple candied salmon, which unfortunately used Aunt Jemima's table syrup instead of the real deal. That's a bit of let down. Furthermore, the amethyst and Stirling silver ring we purchased seemed great in store but upon further inspection revealed several flaws. The way the stone sits on the ring is a little crooked and the edges of the silver around the stone are jagged and unsmooth. Let's just say for the price one would have expected a higher quality of metalwork. Still a lovely stop, just make sure you carefully inspect your purchase before driving away ;)

Fabulous shop. The owners are friendly and trustworthy. They are Finnish and have a nice selection of Finnish pastries, smoked fish and their smoked maple salmon is to die for! Their jewelry selection is beautiful and affordable. They have plenty of parking, even for our 30' airstream.

Stopped in today for the first time. Staff was super friendly. Grabbed some (finn words I dont know) smoked trout and rye bread with rice and potatoe salad. My husband is Finn and is enjoying every bite. Thanks guys:)

Fantastic place to stop. The outside of the store has a pretty garden and amythest rock display. The smoked fish is amazing, and there are lots of other great things here from amythest jewelry to wild rice, rye bread, maple salmon, fudge. Everything is local and the owner is friendly and knowledgeable. We are definitely going back to get more salmon and try some of the other local fish. Great find, don't miss it!

What a great professional (sarcasm included) business womam when she drives by and gives my friend the finger because she's not stupid and didn't slam on the breaks when an ambulance went by on the highway in the opposite direction. She did however slow down to a snails pace and pulled to the right hand side because others were pulled over and there was more than enough room for the ambulance to get by..We are patently aware that the law is to pull over and stop.. she prefers not to slam on the breaks in a panic like so many which can cause chaos and possibly an accident ...so here's me flipping two birds back at you Lisa..
