Chris, the owner, clearly knows how to guide. Unfortunately, when you book with Currie's, you don't know who your guide will be. I booked for myself, wife and 12 year old son. The day before, I learned that my guide would be someone other than Chris. Although he tried hard, he was more of an avid fisherman than a guide. The first hour he was excited. The second hour, frustrated, By the third hour, he said, "what do you want to try, obviously everything I'm doing isnt working". On our way back to the dock, we had thusfar caught no fish when we ran into Chris returning with this other clients. They had caught so many fish that they were ending early. We managed to catch 1 fish on the ride back to the dock, but it was a complete waste of a day, on a lake where many, many others were catching fish around us. My son was extremely disappointed, as was I. I would not book with Curries, as you can not be sure who you're going to get and we did not get a guide (although he charged us as one). Buyer beware. You can't choose if the fish are biting, but you can choose your guide.

We had an amazing time. We were going to rent a boat and go fishing. Chris who took my reservations was mentioning the fish charter. It was our 30th anniversary and a charter would be great! Chris said unfortunately they were booked but would see what he could do. A few days later and he was able to fit a charter in when we were in town. This charter did not disappoint. Lots of fish, amazing scenery and great guide.

The highlight of my whole trip! Caught 7 fish with Chris. I expected to catch nothing... Chris was very knowledgeable and a great teacher. Great time overall and we saw a moose at the end. Thanks, Chris for an amazing day!

They rent boats, but. So I contacted curries guiding about a week prior to my visit to Jasper. Their website said that they rented freighter canoes electric motors and batteries, things you need if you intend to fish Maligne Lake. I checked their website for pricing, since it was unavailable I emailed them, they got back to me the next day. Then after three or four vague emails they said they would be able to rent me the boat. Like most fishermen, I know local knowledge can be important, so I gained as much as I could. I've guided at Fortress Lake lodge and Labrador at riverkeep lodge. I'm an avid fisherman! I wanted to fish from sunup to sundown once again like most fishermen. But the person I spoke with on the phone informed me that the fishing on alpine lakes is just as good during the day as it is at first and last light. Not true. He then informed me I had to pick up the boat on its trailer in the morning and that he would not do it the night before. Then I'd have to have it back on the dock for him to inspect by 9... it's a 2.5hr run to the good fishing at 5mile point. That would mean leaving it at 6:30. At this time of year the sun was setting around 10:30 and you can fish one hour after dark. He also told me on the phone that it's dark at 10 and that "... I'd like you on the dock at 9 so I can inspect the boat and get on with my night." So for $250+ I have to trailer the boat up on his schedule, run the boat for 6 hours max, fish for 4 and then I'm done!? Nope. I went to "On-line sport and tackle" Amazing customer service. Within 10 minutes of walking in the store I had the key and plug for a boat already on the lake. They gave me the batteries and motor the night befor, and told me to drop it all back the day after when they open and I'd only be charged for one day... They were also honest about the locale fishing and conditions. It was a 100x better dealing with them. Definitely posting a great review for them!! And all in all (no thanks to curries) the fishing was amazing!!! From 8-10:30pm that is. The advice "On-line" gave me was crucial to catching fish, I would highly recommend them instead.

Had a great trip with Curries today. Our guide, Chris made the day fun - my wife (who doesn't fish) and I went to Talbot Lake to fly fish for Pike, and after a slow start we finished the day with double digit fish! My wife might be hooked. With the trolling technique we used you don't need to have prior experience, but you could also cast to fish if your heart desires. Saw bald eagles, loons and elk too. Highly recommend!

My daughter and I went on the 1/2 day guided fishing trip with Chris today. He was very knowledgeable and we were able to catch fish in the double digits! We had an excellent time on Lake Talbot! I highly recommend this trip.

We went fishing to Maligne Lake with Paco! He was an unreal guide! Taught us how to use the fly fishing rods, the perfect techniques to catch the fish & how to clean them! Had so much knowledge of the area and the lakes which made the trip extra special! Highly recommend this company and Paco as a guide for a fishing trip! Thank you so much for the awesome day!

Had a an amazing time on a 1/2 day fishing trip with my mom and sister. Our guide Chris took us to Maligne Lake, and even with the rainy weather we had a great day. Chris is an excellent guide and really knows what he’s doing; I had never fished before and caught a fish everytime I put my line in. Really appreciate the wonderful customer service; from booking the trip to actually fishing on the lake. Curries Guiding really goes above and beyond to make sure you have the best experience possible. Can’t wait to get back out there :)

I had a really great trip out with Rod on the 29th! He was really friendly and knowledgeable and helped me catch a buttload of fish! He even had really good advice about which fly fishing rods/lures I should buy. When I book my next trip I am 100% requesting Rod. The trip would have been great regardless of who was my guide because I love fishing, but Rod made it a truly awesome experience.

I had an AMAZING time with Chris. He was so fun and knowledgeable about the lake and the fish, you can definitely tell he's been doing this a long time. He even dealt with me squealing like a little kid when I caught the fish :) From pick up at the hotel, to the lake and back it was a great experience. Would recommend to people of all ages.

Our guide Rob was not only VERY personable and kind but a very knowledgeable trout angler as well. He worked hard to ensure a fun and successful fishing experience. A memorable fishing experience. I would "HIGHLY" recommend this business and their guide - Rob. Beautiful scenery on Maligne Lake as well!

We are very disappointed with Chris, the owner of Currie’s Guiding. We booked a row boat with a trolling motor to go fishing on Maligne Lake. The morning off we had to me meet someone at the Astoria Hotel to pick up the oars, trolling motor, batteries, bailing bucket and an instruction sheet on how to attach it onto the boat. Self serve! Unaware at time of booking. At the lake we had to go searching for the boat. Found three boats tied up on a rocky shore. Boat #5 was an old dilapidated boat, full of water, dirty, smelly, moss growing in it and showed two leaks as soon as we got it into the water (the other two boats were in better shape). Called Chris to address the issues, but he did not answer the phone (this happened before when we tried to change the date due to bad weather - took a long time for a reply). While we were trying to fix the bigger leak with twig and an employee of a another rental company that set up their clients with kayaks/canoes told us that Currie’s had not serviced the row boats for a very long time. The permit posted in the boat was expired. The second leak was under the back bench and we could not do anything about it. At this point we had two choices 1) go back to town or 2) take the leaky smelly boat onto the lake. We decided to take off and after 10 minutes we had cold wet feet and bailed about 10 buckets of water. That was my job during the entire trip - every 10 to 15 minutes bail water. The weather was cool, windy and overcast. We hat to cut our trip short because our wet feed were frozen. Our equipment was wet and smelled as well. After we arrived back in Jasper we had to take our cloth and shoes to a laundromat. The young man from the morning met us in a parking lot to pick up the equipment. We told him in what state the boat was in and showed him our wet cloth, shoes and equipment. He apologized for having a bad experience and said he will talk to Chris about a refund. We waited for a phone call, but never received one. We tried to contact Chris numerous times and send emails but he chose not to answer us (one month later still no rely). Very disappointing customer service. If you rent a row boat make sure it it not #5.
