Awesome food, the fish and chips were delicious. Great staff!
We got the shuckers dozen, the seafood boil and the ceviche. Drinks were Caesar and strawberry mojito. The hostess was rude and not friendly. Our server was warm and friendly and checked in on us. The best part of the meal were the oysters because, let's face it. You can't do those wrong. Everything else including the ceviche and seafood boil was bland. The corn bread that came with the boil was dry and crumbly. The drinks tasted watered down as well and lacked taste. We sat outside and there was a baby rat hanging around.
Went to Shuck for the first time last week. My friend called an hour before to make reservations, and specifically asked for a table outdoors, and was informed that we didn't need a reservation as many tables were available. Once we arrived all the tables were taken (no biggie) and we were sat inside. We asked if a table became available outside if we could move tables, but never heard anymore from it the entire visit. The Oysters were good as expected, however the Calamari we ordered was definitely frozen out of a bag and deep-fried, and the presentation looked like someone spilled tartar all over the sides of the plate lol. We also had an order of the mussels which were pretty disappointing, the broth was good, however the size of the mussels were pretty sad, as I could've gotten larger ones if I went to the grocery store myself. We had hoped for "higher quality" for the price we were paying. The restaurant probably gets more tourists than locals and honestly, NOT the best seafood bar in town and definitely not worth the money.
Really delicious food. I was wary because it looks like a Hotel Restaurant... but it's not. Had the scallops and the shuck boil. As well as a delicious doughnut.
Always come here on my visits to halifax for their great selection of oysters. Also have a great wine selection and very friendly and quick service.
We are huge eaters and we unknowingly arrived during happy hour today..lucky us!!! We had the oysters and 5 other dishes..all were delicious..all were fresh.our waitress was very knowledgeable about wine pairing and she was very friendly.the atmosphere in the courtyard was fantastic and we wished we tried this place sooner! Will definitely return and I suggest everyone visit this pretty restaurant.
Tried two of everything on the oyster menu. Had a friend from out of town who was craving oysters. Amazing. Had the fish and chips as well as the beef tar tar and octopus. All great.
Delicious Crudo Menu!
Probably now my favorite seafood restaurant in halifax. The food was excellent. The service was excellent. The oysters were delicious. The whole ambiance is cool. I used to have my rank as I used to live in this town, but as a visitor, this was my favorite experience in the 7 days I was in halifax. Recommended strongly.
My favorite seafood restaurant in Halifax
Hands down one of the best places to come to for fresh seafood in Halifax, especially if you're looking for lobster! The location is great, being so close to the waterfront and nearby hotels. The ambiance was nice and the service was friendly and wonderful - our server went above and beyond to accommodate our dietary restrictions. The seafood tower is great as a sampler to try out the variety of seafood they offer, especially if you're in a group. The shrimp & clam pasta was simply delicious, the squid ink added a unique touch. The whole lobster was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing too. Ended off the night with some dessert and coffee, totally worth the visit. Would definitely come back again the next time we're in Halifax!
Great place! Oysters and bubbly...great way to start our evening. Will definitely go back!
Nice place
My partner and I had a lovely experience at shuck! Our server Nicole truly went above and beyond to make our experience one of kind. The food was delicious, and the service was even better! Would highly recommend
Great happy hour and the raw bar had a great selection. Will definitely go back!
I usually avoid giving bad reviews as business struggle. But this place can do better. We had the fresh fish which was a very small dish and extremely expensive for the size. It was tasty. Washrooms were dirty ????
A wonderful experience! Our server was graceful and attentive, giving us lots of time. Each dish was perfectly prepared and exquisitely fresh. The environment was calm and spacious. 10/10 will definitely be back.
Very good seafood and amazing service. We got the full lobster and it was as fresh as lobster can possibly be. A little on the pricey side but definitely worth a try
Unbeatable happy hour prices on oysters and other delicious raw items! Every bite was amazing! Aside from oysters, we ordered the Crudo and Sashimi - both were excellent. Our server was awesome - she gave us great recommendations for oyster varieties, and was very attentive and genuine. Also, they make a great Caesar to drink!
Great food, and nice vibe
Staff is amazing, food was terrific. Oysters and ceviche were super good and fresh. Mains were also good. Happy hour is the time to go.
The best! We came here twice in one week while visiting Halifax. The happy hour special is amazing and staff is super friendly.
Great Raw seafood bar!
Horrible food with exorbitant prices
Amazing
Our group ordered the seafood tower, squid ink pasta and whole lobster dinner - all of which were incredible! The oysters and snow crab legs came with many different flavourful sauces; the texture of the pasta was rich/creamy without being overly saucy; and the lobster was among the best we’ve had in NS. Staff were very friendly and helpful!
Wasn't on the menu, but I asked for a vegan option and got a delicious cauliflower steak and a butternut squash appetizer. So accommodating and super yummy! ????
Excellent service excellent food
Disappointing given the reviews. Ordered fresh oysters, seafood chowder, and panko-breaded fish & chips. The Oysters were the best part of the meal but presentation was sloppy; there were chunks of ice from the plate inside the oysters. Chowder had plenty of meat and potatoes, but was almost too salty to eat. The panko breading on the fish made it very cruchy, and the fish itself appeared to have been previously frozen (surprising for a place that's right on Halifax harbourfront). Service was efficient and youthful. Although not an inedible meal, for non-raw seafood there's better options at Katch and other seafood huts.
loved this place
Absolutely amazing food and service! The Oysters were extremely fresh and half price for happy hour from 5-6 had the Tuna Sashimi Crudo & Scallop Crudo also half price! Would highly recommend this spot!
The 2020 dine around menu is awesome, bisque and pork steak are my favorite.
Went there for happy hour and can’t wait to come back. Incredible raw bar and oyster selection and at such a great price. The raw tuna and NS Sober Island oysters were amazing and you can’t beat a local cider to wash it down. I didn’t catch the servers name but he was super helpful - I basically had him pick my food order and I was not disappointed!
Chiefs choice oysters with Benjamin bridge and seared scallops. So fresh and scallops are just amazing. Absolutely loved it.
Try the tuna Tartar!!!
Delicious food and excellent service. The atmosphere is lacking though, as it's loud with pop music blasting through the speakers, so don't expect to be able to carry on much conversation. We also had the misfortune of being seated next to a table of 10 people chanting and yelling as if they were in a sports bar, and the staff did nothing as all other patrons were disturbed by their behaviour. Also, the night we were there they were out of 5 of the ~6 raw bar items on the menu, which is odd as they primarily advertise themselves as a raw bar. You wouldn't think they'd run out of those items.
Delicious. Awesome atmosphere. Half priced oysters are a must.
Ok, good not great. Overpriced for what it is. Had the Boil which was merely good - not work $45. I think it suffers from being in a restaurant conglomerate, and also being a hotel restaurant.
We tasted a lot of oysters on this family vacation, and this was one of the better places, hands down. What really made the dishwasher a green spicy sauce that the chef whipped up that evening.
Your standard seafood and bar, nothing super wowing. Kind of overpriced personally speaking
Seafood, creative and classy We have been on a ten day Atlantic Province tour, so, seafood aplenty. This spot is upscale, has great atmosphere and is more creative with how they plate and prepare seafood. And pretty good value considering their full 1.5pound Lobster was cheaper than a very casual seafood shack we were at in PEI the day before. I had the seafood bucket with Lobster, clams, mussels, sausage, potatoes - the portion of shellfish could have been more generous but the flavour more than made up for that. Partner had the Lobster and loved it. Most importantly a place called “Shuck” had better do Oysters well - and they DO IT RIGHT. Several times this trip I was disappointed at how a place plated their Oysters allowing the all-important brine to spill out. This place has a perfect plate on ice (see my pictures) and the waiters are well schooled as shellfish-sommeliers. Great place to celebrate or have a romantic dinner. Most seafood spots are geared towards groups, tourists and can be a little hokey. This place is charming, creative, classy. Nice patio too.
This is my favorite place to take out of town guests. The prices are fair and you get a very maritimey experience with the Shuck boil (lobster, corn, mussels, potatoes and lots and lots of butter)
Went for their power hour for Oysters, which is from 5-6 daily. Good selection and generally well shucked. Got out of there for less than $60 for two dozen and a couple of drinks.
Service wasn't great and food is okay.
Fantastic menu and staff ????
I was at chops you have to have bone in ribeye AAA medium. Incredibly appetizers.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere!
Excellent seafood tower. Love texture of lobster (not over cooked). Fish and chips was uniquely prepared and tasty. Shrimp cocktail was crunchy and sweet. Superb service.
Oysters were insanely good. Seafood boil was also delicious. Loved it.
We had a fantastic time at Suck Seafood while visiting Nova Scotia for the first time! We loved that it was right downtown Halifax and that we could see the ocean from our table. The wait staff was very friendly, and we enjoyed our full lobster dinner and delicious dessert. Thanks for the awesome memory!
Friendly staff, great oysters, great prices (happy hour!)
Absolutely astonishing food! We loved the oysters, the crab stuffed avacado, the scallop carpaccio was particularly wonderful! The dessert was absolutely perfect too, a great combination of peanut butter, chocolate, with a light and fluffy texture.
I was traveling with my seven year old son and the staff were friendly to both of us, even providing a kid-friendly version of the onion rings. It was a great patio for people-watching and we enjoyed the amazing food.
Amazing Burger ...will be back!
We love this place!! Seafood is super fresh and their happy hour from 5-6 is amazing!!! Half price oysters and $2 off wine!! Can’t be beat!
Perfect place to eat! Service and menu are fantastic. Pisco and ceviche...yummy!!
The area is really romantic and is perfect for a night out, its a little small, but was quiet, fancy, and suitable for a couple. All in all its a nice place to enjoy the weekend nights!!
Awh shucks, it was amazing. My foolish friend got chicken here, it's a seafood place.Silly man.
We had the seafood platter, it was pricey but we didn't feel cheated. Also had a nice NS sparkling wine. Was nice to find some seafood in the touristy area that wasn't fried to sh*t. Their oyster bar looked beautiful, would definitely be a great spot to watch them prep once they open the bar seating again
Very nice food
Our server was lovely and the atmosphere was perfect, oysters during happy hour are a must! We decided to go big and get the seafood tower, which was quite underwhelming for 80$. Snow crab was very dry and nearly tasteless, we told our server and she notified the chef, who sent her back with a "that's the way its supposed to be" comment. I have worked as a server for 10 years, and empathized with this server for having to come back and tell us that - I can only imagine the chefs attitude as he cooks for both The Cut & Shuck! Regardless, the server took care of a round of drinks and we stayed to order from The Cut's menu - best steak we have ever had!
Food was okay but not good value for your money. Avoid the "shuck tower" unless they kick it up a notch. Service was mediocre. First order brought cold tea and cold coffee. I expected more, I, likely, will not return. On a positive note, my friends gave good reviews on the fish and chips.
I had b-day dinner with my friend at Shuck. Actually, this was our 2nd time to have dinner here. We ordered oysters, tacos and cakes. Food tasted okay. No thing special.
Amazing staff, food and atmosphere
Six of us visiting on a cruise. Loved everything. Fish club with amazing fresh made potato chips, tacos.... Really good restaurant...very pleased.
Great staff. Fresh food. Prices are ok.
Happy hour oysters, appetizers and wine/beer is amazing.
Had a great experience here, the staff was very friendly. Fantastic menu to choose from. Amazing food!
I had the tuna and threw up all night after. The waitress Rebecca was also very rude, she waved the menus in my fathers face to get his attention. Definitely not worth the price.
Delicious food and friendly and funny staff. Our waiter gave us great local recommendations for our trip. I had the squid ink pasta, added mussels, and my husband had the fish of the day. Prices were reasonable and the patio was beautiful at night. I would definitely go back!
Nice downtown patio with great fish dishes.
Service was pretty bad. We waited an hour and forty five minutes for raw oysters, steamed mussels and rice pilaf with a cracked egg on top. It was supposed to be Korean style but that was just the name. Nothing else was Korean about it. The drinks were pretty bad as well. The only thing agreeable was the raw oysters. Which took them 35 minutes to shuck. Really disappointed. When the restaurant is called Shuck, I was hoping that they actually knew how to shuck.
Was looking forward to the meal but were super disappointed. We were stuck outside on the empty patio and essentially forgotten about. We ordered oysters which were good, but our Seafood Boil was set on a piece of fake newspaper usually used for fish and chips that was ripping and disintegrating into our food. We also ordered from the raw bar and it was lacklustre. The scallops were sort of room temp and the cucumbers were soggy as if they’d been sitting out. Really wanted to like this place but it was a big miss
(Translated) Very tasty food, good service. (Original) Очень вкусная еда, хорошее обслуживание.
We're from BC and kushi oysters are my favorite but I'm so impressed and fall in love with the oysters here. We tried six different kinds of local NS oysters and some from PEI. They are all super juicy and doesn't have any weird taste at all. Definitely a great place for happy hour and it's attached to the Marriott hotel that we're staying, super convenient.
A real gem in Halifax. Love the happy hour here, and the staff are outstanding. The patio is dog friendly, and the servers and managers took wonderful care of us, and the pup, the entire evening. Will defintely be coming back!
Sorry. Hate to be a bummer but shuck was underwhelming. We sat on the patio and service was spotty. Crudo was soggy, oysters just ok. The boil was pretty but nothing you mom hasn’t made on any given Sunday.
Love the blondie's here
raw scallop was amazing
A little pricey but Tuesdays is cheap for oysters! And the atmosphere and service is lovely
Fantastic crab stuffed avocado!!! I have never been disappointed with this place!
Amazing food, even better service. Beautiful view, to boot!
Nice service and food. Had the east coast boil and it was a generous portion.
Great atmosphere, delicious oysters and pretty fine halibut ceviche. Waitress was super nice and gave recommendations on places to visit nearby. Worthwhile stop for your trip! Oysters are half price between 5 and 6!
Great food and service. Great selection of very fresh local oysters.
Delicious food!!
Food was very good, service excellent. My wife didn't care for the raw tuna plate, but all was ok for me
We were basically "shooed" out of the door for not having a reservation; meanwhile, we saw a couple getting in and the lady mentioned issues with the check-in system, so the hostess asked whether her number was from abroad - upon the positive response, the hostess visibly recoiled as if the lady were sick or something. I will definitely avoid visiting again and suggest anyone willing to do so be mindful of the kind of customer attention you might get.
I love the happy hour deal of half priced fish & seafood apps from 5-6pm. The raw fish plates are exquisite to enjoy on the outdoor patio. Nice wine selections and overall great food quality. Thanks to Owen for giving some of the best service in the maritimes.
Busy Saturday night in summer so we did wait a bit to get our food - but it was definitely worth it. Service was friendly and professional and we were well taken care of while we waited. We shared the shucker's dozen, then I chose the fresh fish which was a salmon fillet, and my partner had a lobster dinner. We'll certainly be back!
Very noisy , , , good for 5 p m drink..expensive to park..part of Hotel chain..average food, other than oysters raw....
(Translated) Too expensive for the quality and quantity (Original) Trop cher pour la qualité et la quantité
The seafood was good and fresh however, what the menu wrote and what we recieved did not seem to match. Our server was very disappointing. It felt as if she didn't know what she was doing and did not communicate any delays/issues with us. This was surprising as it wasn't busy at all. The manager was very kind and accommodating.
Best restaurant in the downtown Halifax area. Seafood was fresh and delicious, waiters were very engaged, and ambience was lovely with both indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered the octopus carpaccio, scallop carpaccio, tuna sashimi, oysters, tuna+beef tartare, Manhattan clam chowder, and the baked potato, all of which were fantastic and full of great flavors. No water front view but food makes up for it.
Not impressed from the very start. We walked all the way around the building trying to find the entrance only to find that it was in under the porte corchere of an adjacent hotel. The music that was playing was loud, aggressive, and very disjointed with the atmosphere. The menu was pretentious, very overpriced, and food was, frankly, just not that good.
Great food! The oysters were fun, service was great and friendly, the raw bar menu had some tasty items, and my girlfriend and I were fairly full after sharing a couple items off the raw bar menu, the fried chicken and two piece fish and chips!
Great happy hour deals for craft pints and raw oysters. Also try the yellowfin sashimi, delicious!
We have been here a few times and has always been delicious. We go during the happy hour where you can get oysters and appetizers for a great price. They always have a wide variety of oysters to choose from and my favorite appetizer is the scallop seviche. It is amazing witch such a delicious tomato sauce on it. They also have a good selection of drinks and most times good service, we only had once incidence of a bad server. I would definitely suggest coming here if you love seafood.
We went for the happy hour and we tried a couple of other dishes on the side such as the crab legs and surf and turf tartar. The food is absolutely outstanding, paralleled with superb service. Great value and taste. Everything was fresh and well presented. We had a lot of fun and all the dishes were a hit. If you’re in Halifax, a must visit at least during happy hour from 5-6. Highly recommended.
Always one of our preferred destination while visiting halifax. The raw bar is amazing. Try to go during their happy hour 5-6. 1/2 on their raw bar!
This place is underrated. The food is amazing and so is the service. One of my favorite places in Halifax.
If you love oysters it is certainly a great place to go. 2nd time going while on business and the Shuck Boil is my favorite.
Best seafood tower in the city! Not only was the food amazing but the server really made the night. Anyone visiting Halifax should go here to get the real seafood experience. Can’t wait to go back
Fantastic service!! Good food & reasonably priced.
Worst seafood in the city.
Went there for happy hour. Ate some dishes that had a unique take on certain traditional dishes. Overall enjoyed the food and prices were not too bad!
Seafood boil was awesome
Slow service food ok.
Amazing service. We had Alex and he was great. So knowledgable and friendly. Great food as well with great atmosphere.
Food was solidly ok. Salad was salty and salmon was fine, but not the best Ive had in Halifax.
The most romantic place for a night out in winter.
Super good seafood meal. Enjoyed their seafood happy hour a lot. Although we came a little bit late, waiters made sure to place our orders within happy hour time.
We went for the first time at 4:30pm on a weekday. The place was basically empty but we were told by the hostess we should always make a reservation and that she needed our table at 630pm. Had said we just wanted oysters and drinks. Hardly welcoming. Was warned this place could be snobby. Long wait for the oysters and beer to arrive. We will not return here because there is a lot of competition for our restaurant business and we don’t need to be treated as the British say in a “shirty” manner.
Very nice place! Great service, staff very attentive since you walk in. The oysters are the best!
Incredible food and service
Food was fine, nothing extra ordinary. Apparently they don't toast the burger buns which makes it very dense. She got the boil which was decent. Told them it was her birthday and they brought out a Blondie with happy birthday written in it. Unlike pretty much every other restaurant they charged us not only for that but for a refill of soda water. Don't think we will be back anytime soon.
Ordered 4 dozen oysters during their happy hour, great oysters specially PEI and NS oysters. Also ordered Ceviche - wasn't enjoyable at all compared to the scallops. Finally ordered some lobsters, it was worth it! Definitely good to visit.
Food was ok. Staff very friendly and helpful
Absolutely awesome experience from the great service to the oysters and beer. This place has the best happy hour between 4-6 with half off oysters and $5 craft draft or $2 off glass of wine. We will definitely be back our next time in Halifax!
This is a nice high-end seafood place that emphasizes on raw seafood which is a good thing. Service is great, and the food is delicious. Half price raw seafood apps and oysters between 5-6pm, 5 dollar pints and 2 dollar off wines too. Too bad that none of the taps were working due to a fridge problem when I was there. But the 5-6 tap beer selection seems to be good. The regular menu is interesting too, with plenty of imaginary fusion dishes.
Owen the server was awesome. We asked him about some dishes and he told us which one was better. The fish and chips was awesome, golden brown and not a lot of batter.
Go for happy hour and order everything from the raw bar. The ceviche will not disappoint!
We had a lot of fun during their happy hour. 48 oysters between 3 people. Really engaged staff. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.
I would give zero stars to this restaurant if I could. First they lie about their happy hour specials on their website and in their advertisements. As you can see in the screen shots from their menu, happy hour includes 1/2 price raw bar+oysters. Though when you go there, they say only oysters are in happy hour special and not the rest of the raw bar. Second, their food is not fresh at all. Oysters were dry and chewy, snow crab was completely dry, old and tasteless. halibut, tuna and scallop dishes were made from frozen (or made days ago), they were soggy and tasted funny. Third, I had a bad oyster, and I was violently ill all night. The oyster tasted fishy and smelly when I had it but could do nothing about it after eating it! I don’t recommend going here to anyone unless you want to waste your money and probably get ill.
Service was horrible, food was cold, overcooked, and had no flavor. We had to ask for things more than one time. Server didn't know answers to simple menu questions. She brought 3 rolls for a table of 4. All 4 people were not served at the same time. She served the 2 men before the 2 women. All four of our meals were way over cooked and served cold. Very disappointing for our special night out.
Great oysters, sparkling wine, ambiance, and staff. Will definitely be back.
Absolutely amazing oysters
The food was amazing, best seafood I’ve had in Halifax. But a server spilled a beer on my mum and we did not get a discount on our bill. Maybe that’s not normal around here, but we were a little surprised and annoyed by that.
Amazing seafood boil. Luscious, juicy and perfectly cooked seafood!
This was my first time coming to Shuck. We were seated immediately on a Friday night around 7. The environment is cozy and the staff were friendly and attentive. Our server was very knowledgeable about the seafood that was being served and offered suggestions. The food quality was excellent.
Good food
3 small tables of customers at 130 in the afternoon on Aug 31. Sat for 15 min without a server saying a word. Got up and walked out. Still no one said a word.
Great staff!!
Food was delicious. We all had the fish sandwich which was lightly crusted and perfect for lunch. Great patio right downtown Halifax across from the waterfront.
Went during happy hour 4-6. Great deal and amazing food.
Great food and atmosphere
I had the shuck boil. I couldn't eat it. It was awful. Even smelled bad.
Food was very fresh and delicious. Service was competent and quick.
Amazing service, relaxing atmosphere, delicioys food!
Service was pretty mediocre; drinks were good; oysters were on point especially at happy hour prices. Go with the more basic seafood and you’ll be alright. Value for money was just okay but not great
Slow service...they seated us and we didn't see anybody for over 15 minutes to even take a drink order. The restaurant inside was empty so not too sure why it was such slow service. Almost 40 minutes later our drinks arrived. Our apps came at the same time as our entrees. We had to literally go inside to pay our bill because the server had us waiting over 20 min from the time we asked for our bill. Wouldn't go there again
Oysters were great! They were served promptly and a had a good variety.
Quite confused why my group of 3 was turned away at 5pm. The dining room was empty and the patio had over 5 tables empty. Was told we were unable to be seated since they were fully booked and we didn't have a reservation. OpenTable had reservation availability from 5:15pm to 7pm. Terrible service.
Food is absolutely delicious, and the staff are professional and helpful. Good atmosphere, good patio, and a short walk from the boardwalk.
Made reservations that they changed on us last minute without letting us know ahead of time which was extremely extremely disappointing. Almost all of the hostesses at the front act like they're too good for this job, are not friendly or have any good service at all. However, the food itself was good. We came here during their happy hour special and got some oysters and the marinated mussels. The mussels were very tasty but they were a bit too much in flavour after having a few. However, that is just my personal opinion. The oysters were all very fresh and tasty. I wish they came with a better selection of sauces but I liked the vinaigrette the most. Our server was very attentive and nice as well.
Oyster, smelts were great! However snow crab legs were not. Served cool to warm. I believe they were reheated. Not sure though. Service excellent.
My second visit and it exceeded my first. My favourite restaurant.
nice atmosphere, a bit loud and tough with a larger group (6) but overall a thumbs up
Great food and atmosphere
Great place and super food
The food was good and parking across the street
The most was very subpar, just a complete waste of money. If you like good seafood then this is not that place for you, it’s super over priced
Came here for lunch and sat on the large, beautiful patio under the sun. There was a great selection on oysters and I loved how they were displayed right as you walked in the front door. Oysters were fresh and shucked perfectly with no bits or pieces of shell. I highly recommend the fried smelts; they were spot-on with the crispiness and tasted great with the sauce. Also want to mention that the chowder was very delicious with huge chunks of shellfish and nicely balanced with creaminess and tomato. Would recommend this place and visit again!
Great servers that are very knowledgeable about the oysters they offer. Amazing raw food options and fresh oysters
The oysters here are so shucking good. The homemade hot sauce really complimented the brineyness of the oysters. We went during happy hour when they were half off. Next time I'm in Halifax I will be coming back.
great food, beverage and service
Google maps...quit telling me I went here...it was closed for renovations...just like pretty much every other place in Halifax.
Dissapointed they didnt have clams but dinner was excellant.
amazing food and atmosphere. had an amazing server who even walked us through how to open the lobster.
We are upstairs at CUT. Very good, not great. Service was excellent, the servers were very knowledgeable and very friendly. However, when you are paying top dollar for food, it has to taste and look as such. Food presentation is minimalist and lacks the overall sumptuousness that you would expect from a restaurant offering $60, 70 , 80 steaks (others on the menu are even more expensive than this) plus $11 to $20 sides. The flavour of the food again is very good, not great. The dishes lack that flare that would put them over the top. The dining room is beautiful, service is inspired, however there is just something missing with regards to the meal.... Again, all this is in the context of price point vs. what is being offered. We paid $500 for 4 people (appetizers, 6 drinks altogether, 4 entrees + sides, no dessert or coffee, tax and gratuity included)
Great oysters and raw bar seafood - especially with the half price at happy hour! Cocktails were very inventive and delicious. Don't expect fast service, it's quality over speed.
Went for happy hour oysters and got a variety pack. And did not disappoint. Even the horseradish had a nice kick
A must for anyone visiting Halifax.
Ok so we had a reservation for 5.30pm but couldn’t be accommodated outside when we got there and asked. Our server took our order right away and 20min later our two drinks - a beer and a wine arrived. Our petite seafood tower came about 10min after that. What a disappointment - not worth the $49 we were charged. We didn’t bother ordering a main course, asked for our bill and left with a $72 hole in our pocket. No tip for you, my man!
Restaurant has a contemporary modern vibe, drinks finely mixed , great good, fresh oister bar, yellowfin tuna sashimi is a must try.
The food is not bad, but would you like to wait 1.5 hours for an appetizer? We didn't for sure, the waiter was really good and tried to reassure us, that they only had 2 people working and doing their best, but wasn't enough. Just one word: never again!
We went for happy hour and stayed for dinner. The oysters were incredibly fresh, and we loved that the menu and server provided information on the regions and tasting notes for each type of oyster. We also tried the scallop carpaccio, the scallops were tender and the tomato based sauce served over top was light and refreshing. My husband ordered the burger as his entree and I got the seafood pappardelle, both meals were well enjoyed. The service got a little slow at times but it wasn't too big of a problem as we were not in any rush and just looking to enjoy ourselves on their patio. They're a little on the pricey side but the quality of the food they're serving makes them worth paying a little extra. Overall it was a memorable meal and we'll definitely consider going back on our next trip to Halifax.
