We eat here once every week and have for years now. The staff is super friendly, the food is hot and plentiful and the atmosphere is comfortable. The club sandwich is our favorite! If you visit, don't leave without trying their coconut cream pie, which is the best in the city!! The prices are very fair and much cheaper than other restaurants like Smitty's and they have better food in my opinion. Highly recommend!

The waitress was extremely friendly and the food tasted great. My parents got the specials which they really enjoyed as it's not something you usually have. We could also see the freight trains moving around outside. It's a very calm atmosphere

Was there Monday , Oct 4th. Haven’t been in forever, since the owner changed. My kids and I all disliked our food . My son had the haddock, dry . My daughter and I had Greek salads , couldn’t eat them as the cheese , we believe feta, was evidently bad aa it smelt off. My daughter-in-law had a club , requested no tomatoes, they were there , and there was more mayonnaise or salad dressing then any other ingredient. . It’s too bad we used to really enjoying going there.

The place was packed. This is always a good sign. The place says "This is a good old fashioned diner." Hot turkey sandwich, Club House etc. A little pizza on the side. We were seated instantly. Servers were very responsive. Another good thing. Food came promptly and the gravy was real. Great. I was a little sad they were out of Pork Chops. Thanks Jim!

We were visiting, gave this a try since we saw high rating. Unfortunately, it is the worst seafood place we ever been to. We had clamps and chip dish + grill fish seafood plater. They were tasteless and Fries were not freshly cut, even worse than what you can get from McDonald’s. Expensive for low quality food.

Tried to place a takeout order online. Restaurant canceled it without giving a reason. Had to find out from Skip that the restaurant was out of stock of what I ordered — despite it very clearly being shown in stock, and charged me. One star for restaurants who lie to their customers.

Waitress Shelby was great. Greek plate was yummy and plenty. We took home our desserts. My sister said her coconut cream pie was delicious. My strawberry shortcake was too. The strawberries were very fresh. We enjoyed the train action outside. Lovely experience.

Their seafood platter is the worst I've ever had. Undercooked fish, 3 scallops, 5 clams, and a baby's handful of undercooked fries. At least get those right. Seafood should never smell fishy! But it did and was disgusting! I'd give them a zero, but it's not an option. Never again!

I went for lunch with a dear friend, who is in his 90's. He was disappointed that they didn't have real (18%) coffee creamers, just Blend. That food was delicious as usual. Glad they are surviving the Pandemic. A lot of local restaurants are not doing so well.

Great food, decent price as well as great service. I love the grilled haddock, it is close to addictive when you choose the Greek roasted potatoes as a side. If I could choose one thing extra it would be Becel instead of butter. I have to bring my own when we go.

Had the fish & chips . The fish were loaded with batter that was so hard & crisp that a knife could not cut into it. The darn stuff was impossible to chew on .The fish & chips were inedible .

Usually go to johns lunch for claims but they where closed so decided to come here. Only wanted claims was told they’d give a bigger order since I didn’t want a side. Was a small portion. Claims where cold. Was asked if I wanted tartar sauce and stuff in bag witch I said yes. Got 4 tartar sauce with nothing else. I thought being it was a take out order would’ve got at least a fork. Disappointing experience won’t be back for claims.

A casual and friendly place to enjoy a fresh meal with friends and family. Features a nice view of the Bedford Basin. My family has gone several times and order their pizza which is made entirely from scratch and has very generous amounts of toppings and cheese. Staff are always warm and welcoming and we never feel rushed.

Recently ate at Jim's for the first time in several years. Service was good but the food was not. The toast was heavily burnt on two of our sandwiches, to the point of being inedible for one of us. The tomato was also green and disgusting. A third person had the burger and only ate a few bites. I don't know if it's gone downhill or we just went on a bad day, but we definitely won't be returning.

Jim’s is my mother’s favourite place to eat out, so we go there when she wants to go out. It’s a traditional family restaurant with regular Nova Scotian home cooked meals. I think on the best bonuses of the restaurant is the location and the view. One of the best (and least well known) views of the Halifax harbour and the Bedford basin. Just beautiful. You can sit by a window seat with the best view, or in the summer, sit on the deck for a full experience. The only downside is the train tracks are literally 100 feet away between your view of the basin, and the trains do move on a regular basis. However, it still is the best view. Not many other restaurants can compare to this. I had what I thought were the best fish cakes ever there, but they are apparently no longer on the menu. Today we ordered the meat lovers 9” pizza and the map salmon dinner. The maple salmon was good and very large. The vegetables were somewhat sparse, and the Greek potatoes weren’t the best I’ve had, but the Greek salad was one of the best I’ve ever had. Well worth the price on all accounts. 9” pizza $10.99. Maple salmon dinner $15.99.

The only place I can eat pizza because i have allergies, and their dough and tomato sauce are homemade, and the servers know what's in the dishes, or they can find out. Service is always friendly and accommodating. Their front door closes a little too quickly though. My daughter had her heel scraped off and since she walks on her job, it took weeks to heal. Otherwise, a fantastic restaurant!

Ordered Moussaka with Caesar salad. Seemed microwaved with little flavor. Roasted potatoes were not good. Caesar salad lacked flavor and was bitter. I suspect Moussaka is not ordered often and so is probably frozen. They should drop items like this from the menu in my opinion and have a smaller menu of items they excel at.

A nice place to get a nice meal. Jim’s is a bit of a throwback to the old diner concept. Offering everything from pizza to seafood and everything in between. Just about everything on the menu is great. The only exception of the chicken parm, the sauce has a taste that I can only describe as a chef boyardee beefaroni. The staff is great and the prices are of reasonable value.

Sometimes when I go there, the food is good, sometimes it's not. I saw some other reviews of the bacon being split in two, and that's true. I don't remember seeing any bugs in my food, it is hard to cut through the Fish if you got some. The fries are kinda big and sometimes they do not taste that good. My Mom and Dad got some water, I did not have any of it. I just looked it one of the glasses and I saw some white particles in it and I did not know what it was, so I did not have it. Do I recommend going there? Probably not. There are only a couple things on the menu that I like anyways.
