My other fave place. The cook/ chef....the server.....I come here as often as I am able. The portions are hefty, the condiments as well. The selection superb. Horrible. Spent $25 on the seafood platter. Fries were crusty, dried and barely edible. Seafood was questionable, I could only eat the few scallops in there and had to de-bread them to do so. Went on a recommendation but will recommend everyone else to avoid.

I went in there on a cold rainy day. It's a lovely, cozy place. They had a fire going. I ordered a small plate of fries and I couldn't believe how much I got. For three dollars there was enough food for two people to lunch on, and not only that, but those were some of the best fries I've ever had.

If I could give it 10 stars I would, honestly such friendly people who own the restaurant, warm and welcoming environment, very decent sized portions of food and they will happily give you a to go box for the rest of you're meal, I do order out but would prefer to dine in for the full experience. The prices are great and the wait time for you're food is next to nothing, 100% recommend, 10 out of 10 stars, newfie poutine is my go too always. If you try, I really do think you should dine in, it's really worth it, you will not regret the decision, it's worth the time and money garenteed. Will be returning for more for sure and very soon. Went there just last night. My wife got home and said "I don't want to cook." I replied - "You shouldn't have to cook. How about if I pick you up something at the Food Court?" "I want something on a plate, not in a box." "Okay," I replied. "How about Fries and Company?" "I thought that you would never ask." So we took ourselves out for a walk to Fries and Company, which is just a few blocks away from where we live. My wife, who is getting over a cold, decided on curry chicken and chips. Or maybe she just liked the alliteration. I opted for a one piece fish and chips. Now, ordinarily if you ask for a one piece fish and chips people want to ask you if you are on a diet, or if you are trying to save money, or if you just don't like the cooking and are trying minimize the amount that you have to eat. Well, that is NOT the case with Fries and Company. You see, they don't just bring you one piece of fish. In fact, the piece of fish that they brought me...well, let's just say I had to wonder if there wasn't a whole freaking whale hidden beneath that golden sizzling batter. In fact, I had to mentally replay the training montages from the first four Rocky movies, just to gather the strength necessary to tackle that Moby Dick sized portion of fish stretched out upon all of those perfectly crisped french fries. I stood up on the table and was shouting "DRAGO!!! DRAGO!!!" when my wife asked me if I might kindly get down off of the table and get to my eating. The fish and chips were awesome. I didn't really feel that I needed to bother telling you that, because the fish and chips at Fries and Company are ALWAYS freaking awesome. I had some of the curry as well, and it had a fine and spicy taste, like proper British curry. All right, so the Brit's stole their curry from India, back when they thought that they actually ruled that country, but that's beside the point. The curry was awesome, the fish was filling, and the fries were fantastic. They've got a fine assortment of good cold beer and that went well with the fish and chips. I can't wait to go there again. Just don't come climb on the table, would you?

Excellent establishment. Nice staff. I highly recommend the Sweet & Sour Chicken Balls (homemade sauce, batter, and high quality white chicken) and Fries. A local made this recommendation and it was fantastic. Who would have thought Chicken Balls and Fries would make such a great combo!

Interesting little place to get lunch. Nothing to go out of your way for. Had pie fries and gravy. It was good... but not great. Very large meal, with a ton of fries. Pie was not particularly fresh. I think it had previously been frozen. I've previously had the lobster roll there, which was good. Service is basic but friendly.

I'm sure the fish is good, but of the few places in Halifax that offer Chips, Dressing and Gravy, I thought Fries & Co. would do it right and it was a total let down. The gravy was flavourless and the fries tasted hours old. No kidding. I rarely leave reviews, but this was necessary.

I went twice and first time I was alone and thought the portions were too much. I ate half. I did find it on the greasy side. Friendly staff. Not a lot of sitting space but you can go upstairs and the washrooms are up there so not sure what you can do if you are in a wheelchair as maybe there is a washroom on first floor that I am not aware of. I can't remember them having any dessert menu but they give you so much food I doubt you need dessert. The second time I took my friend from Newfoundland and she loved it and would give a five star for sure. She loves gravy and she ate it all. I again found it too greasy for myself. I will not be going back.

This is the oldest Fish and Chips joint in Halifax and has a very British style charm to it. In fact, the owner has a British accent! It is a simple setup and has a homely feel; Mom and pop style. The fish pieces are HUGE and DELICIOUS. Very impressed. And the prices are excellent. I also liked the curry sauce that comes with it. Very similar to how it’s served in England. The Lobster Chowder was OK.

Ordered a family fish and chip meal and it came with a dinky tartar sauce to share between 8pcs and an order of clams! I was in absolute disbelief because at the -very- least we should have received 2 sauces (one for the order of chips and another for the order of clams). I had to call to see if they maybe perhaps messed this up but they were very confident that one container is enough for the entire meal... Lol, ok. No empathy on my asking—rather they told me it's 0.35$ per container (what's it even to you???) Fries were ok, nothing to write home about. Fish was fresh. Clams were expensive for a 7oz serving (20$). Additionally, the clams were quite chewy. Maybe I'll be back if I'm desperate but there are also many other places I'd probably check out before I come back anytime soon.

On a prior visit I had a cheese burger. Tasted much like a good home cooked burger. It was pretty good. This time 'round I had a poutine. Gravy was bland the cheese curds tasted more like blue cheese and the fries, while good, were unredeeming.

Staff and service were amazing and gave me and my boyfriend lots of advice on where to visit since it was our first time in Halifax. Prices are very fair and portions were great (you won't be hungry after). My bf ordered the mussels which tasted amazing with lots of garlic and butter and was a really big portion. I ordered the lobster roll which I wouldn't recommend because they toss the lobster in salad mix and too much zesty dressing that over powered the whole meal and then stuff it in a bun that wasn't toasted. I've had my fair amount of lobster rolls and this didn't do it for me. I'm sure the rest of the menu is great though.

A local Famous Ma and PA run restaurant, making all your typical greasy spoon favourites BIGGIE SIZED! If you're looking for a meal that is above and beyond normal portion size, And great bang for the buck! Then you have to try fries and Company! The fish and chips, their hamburger platters, and Seafood Combo's are all great items to check out, ! PLEASE be careful if you order a 3-piece fish and chips, or at least bring friends to help you eat it! Check out my pics, I am not kidding! I eat here at least twice a month. The fish portions are huge - not those tiny fillets you get from the frozen food section of a grocery store. These are real fish fillets. Nice thick batter - done British style. Fries are good too.

The fish is delicious and the best! The portions are very generous, but the fries need re-working. It's a good thing they DO give you lots of fries because half of them are spotted black and taste moldy, many are cut too thin thus rendering them over-fried and hard. The pics I see here...did they know they were going to be used in a review? In the many, many times we have eaten here, or taken out, we have never seen fries look this good!! The price is right, too! Just be prepared to throw half of your fries out!

Well known fish and chips joint. Generous portions at decent prices. Been a customer here on and off for decades. I think it lost a bit of its elan when it passed from the original founders. But I still enjoyed my latest meal. The parking lot is only big enough for three cars but you can park on the side street. When I am in Halifax I always make sure to come here once. They also do take out.

This is a classic greasy spoon story known for its fish-n-chips! I heard through the grapevine that they also offered Newfie style fries, dressing, and gravy so I had to check it out. They offer it with chicken or beef gravy and if you're a big boy grab the large. Delish. It would be nice if the had a better building with a little more parking, but it would be a trade off for the cozy, historic feel you get while there.

After my 3rd attempt of thinking "maybe it's a fluke" I have to write a review. Fish is smaller and not cooked the same (not crispy and my last one was soggy, I had to put it in my airfryer!!). Quality is way down and it's very disheartening, as I been going here my whole life and feel like I might not come back nor reccomend them anymore.

Cute hole in the wall place, which claims to be the oldest in Halifax. I had the fried clams, while not as good as John's lunch (my favorite) were really good, with nice thick cut fries. I had a taste of the fish and chips, while good, dripped with a little too much grease for my preference. Would absolutely still recommend this place for the fried clams and chips

The Best Fish and Chips I have had here in Halifax. The batter is not, nor does it become doughy. Fresh fish that is moist and flaky. When you walk in it does not look like a good place to eat because it is in a old house, but do not let the setting discourage you from eating here, it truly is great Fish and Chips. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent overall - staff were super friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself was cute and cozy, and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend the coconut shrimp - they were divine. Everything was cooked well and servings were also quite generous. Will definitely return!

I can't believe that they would even serve the fish they gave me. Before even took it out of the bag I could smell that it was rotten. When I tasted it it was so gross and the texture was disgusting. My cats couldn't even stand the smell.
