First time dining here and the inside looked clean but my order was for take out. Order the 4 can dine jumbo family deal. Fish portions were a good size but the fries were more like a 2 person portion rather the 4. The fries came in 1 box and the fish was wrapped separately. The weird thing I noticed is that they only provide 2 tartar sauce packets and charge $1 for 5 of them if you want more,, is there a tartar sauce shortage happening?. Price was not reflected in what you get and was $20 more then most places in Mississauga.

I ordered 2 Halibut and chips for my wife and I tonight. $50 frikin dollars. The fish was all batter with little fish. The absolute worst fish I have ever had. Honestly the fish was about as thick as a piece of sliced cheese with an inch of batter on both sides. Greasy as well. When I went in I ordered 2 individual orders. When they gave them to me one box had 2 pieces of fish in it and the other had two orders of fries. Can't figure that one out. Never going back there ever.

Dec. 28. 2019 update: had dinner here again. Delicious and the food was nice and hot. ...... We brought friends here for dinner and all four of us loved our fish and chips. It was not crowded when we got there so the service by the single server was fine. By the time we left, it was getting busy; not sure how they would all get prompt service. This was the first time we ate in (instead of takeout) . There are many tables, some by the window for a view of your car while you eat. (Certainly not scenic.) Fish is not cheap anymore but the Haddock was decent value because of the Special that was on that evening. They offer beer and wine in addition to soft drinks. (Beer is an ideal companion to fish & chips.) Haddock tastes just like Halibut to me, but is $5 less expensive. The Cod is actually a dollar more than the haddock dinner. As I write this, I feel like driving down and having the haddock and fries for lunch. They are so good, I could eat two orders myself. We had dinner here again Oct. 20 and again, the Haddock and Chips were delicious.

I know cost is a factor in these days/times but felt it was much higher than expected. If I could make a suggestion, try other recipes to make the fish/batter more flavorful.

We were in today for dinner and had asked about a dumpling dish and we were given a couple of free samples to try which was very nice of them. Then I also witnessed the fine young man serving, courteously explained to the elderly lady that she had already paid for her meal when she ordered. I was very impressed with the way he treated her in a kind and honest way. He could have charged her again and no one may have known. All of this care and service warmed my heart. Not only is it a great meal but they actually care about their customers. Totally recommend this restaurant ????

Thieves who sell haddock as halibut. I spent weeks comparing their fish to one I trust. Every other time I went to golden I accused them of mixing haddock and halibut and I knew the difference in flavor and flakiness. This is the only time I recieved halibut when I paid and ordered halibut. I have two massive peices of haddock in place of my halibu currently after not specifying I know the differnece. When asked the Owner said white fish is white fish and the kitchen csnt be bothered

I went here a few times a yr....today was the worst it has ever been....and it cost 65. and change....it was the MOST DISGUSTING fish I ever had.....I can tell you enough on how greasy it was..... and when I went back and complained.....they offered me 10 bucks back......Id rather him shove it up his ass.....will NEVER go back to this place.... My 96 yr old mom wanted a nice fish dinner and this is what she got.....

This was a horrible experience from start to finish. Firstly, order didn’t arrive within the hour despite receiving a confirmation email and paying for it online. Called the place at the hour mark and while the manager/owner was polite, he didn’t take responsibility for his computer system not working properly and said it needed to be refreshed and that is why they didn’t see the original order. Then he offered to make it and deliver it himself, which while we appreciated, we would have preferred he offer a credit or some kind of refund seeing as how we had to wait an hour and a half for our original order to arrive. The food was awful. Greasy. Tasteless. Everything tasted the same from the fish to the calamari to the battered mushrooms bc they use the same batter for everything. They also forgot one of our sides of coleslaw and still charged for it. And this was expensive (almost $100 for three meals and two apps). Not even worth $25. Never again.

Average place, good fish. Nice atmosphere, friendly enough staff. The food was actually quite good, and not terribly pricey. It isn't an incredible experience. The waitress was adequate - brought food but no refills. Friendly enough but more interested in other stuff. The restaurant itself is in a strip mall and tries to feel better, but really can't. Certainly experienced worse, this was safe and convenient and comfortable.

Plus shout out to the individual working cash, I know things are extremely hectic right now for restaurants during this pandemic and the employee taking and handing out orders was very friendly and kind to every customer even though it was obvious they were very busy. I went here and brought it home. However, l didn't realize that the fish were still swimming in the grease. Absolutely wonderful! I have been coming to this fish and chips shop for over 15 years and they never disappoint. Since the beginning of the lockdown, the prices have gone up a little, bit not too much for the huge portions you always get. Make sure to try the clam strips! They are delicious and are always cooked perfectly.

This place used to be good. I spent $150 with tip and tax which includes a family size haddock and chips (they no longer serve the jumbo haddock family) in addition I ordered 2 halibut and chips. This came with 2 boxes of fries. Not enough for a family. Their solution is to buy more fries next time instead of including and adequate amount of chips. When I called to talk to them about this the owner hung up on me. TL:DR french fries undercook and under portioned. Too expensive for what you get. Look elsewhere!

The fish and chips were excellent. I had asked for the fish to be lightly battered and it was perfect, crisp and light. The fish was quite a large portion and the chips were the perfect amount, not too much or too little. The only issue I had was that they had my order listed under another person's name. It was quite loud when I called in my order so that might have been the problem. The staff were very friendly and helpful even with being run off their feet. I will definitely be back. Thank you.

Best fish and chips in town hands down. Ordered one piece Haddock and chips for $14.49 came with decent sized fish sized about 4-5 ounces, coated in crispy batter and fresh cut fries in a pizza box. Couple of Tartar sauce in sealed packet made for takeout use along with salt and malt vinegar. Recommended for those who are hungry; looking for a good portion. Definitely going back!

We'd been to Golden Fish and Chips before and the food was good. However, this time we had to get up and leave after I witnessed a worker come out of the bathroom without washing his hands. I then saw him in the kitchen picking something out of a deep fryer basket. Not likely to eat there again.

Simply, The Best. A nice light batter that does not soak up the graese. The fish portions are generous. Also had the fries that were perfectly cooked till crispy gold. They too were not greasy !!!!! A delicious "lupper" of cod & fries .... as well as a shared appetizer of battered mushrooms. COVID protocols in place .... sanitizer at the door when you come in, signs up explaining take out & dine in procedure .... they take your name & phone number just in case its needed .... waitress in full face shield and you are asked to leave your face mask on until AFTER food is brought to the table. Quick service, hot food and the waitress was friendly. Limited dine in menu and some things weren't available as they weren't stocking things that had the tendency to spoil .... but all and all a pleasant & delicious meal.

The wonton soup arrived cold. When we sent it back they microwaved it. Our shrimp still had the black waste inside. The fish was edible (and that is being kind). If you want good fish and good service go to the Golden Fish and Chips on Kortright in the South of Guelph.

For the price the food should be better. Asked for my fish and chips to be well done but when it came out it was not. The fries were still firm, not cooked at all, a sort of beige I color. I asked him to take it back but he said the cook says this is already well done and said he couldn't take it back. Sorry, but for the price I'll go elsewhere in future.
