Ordered through skip the dishes at 6pm and the delivery driver didn't show up at the restaurant until 7pm which is when the store is supposed to close... Not only did they stay open to wait for the driver but they re made all the food so it would be fresh and they did it all without us calling to complain, they're the ones that called us to apologize for skip the dishes being late. Food was priced good and tasted amazing would definitely eat there again but will never order anything from skip the dishes in the future.

The food at this restaurant exceeded my expectations and the customer service was delightful. I enjoyed visiting Captain Jack's for lunch and will likely do so again in the near future. The food was very reasonably priced and I have no complaints about the quality. The venue itself is well decorated and portrays a fun, thoughtful theme throughout.

I've been to the Guelph location 3 different times, and they've been closed during their posted open hours every time. If you plan to come here for lunch, have a backup plan in mind. Last time I will be trying this location.

I'm from Cambridge. But whenever I'm in Guelph for shopping or what have you. This is a must stop place. I literally drive out of my way to get here. The couple that owns it is as sweet as can be. They are always happy to see you. As for their food. It's really good. I love how their fish isn't overly bartered and you can actually taste and enjoy the fish. Their portions are great as well. Seriously, if I lived in Guelph, I would gladly order from here once a week. Help out a great local family business during these troubling times.

The fish and chips were delicious, the batter was perfect and just really enhanced the flavour of the fish. The bartered mushrooms had a nice flavour though there was a lot of grease in them. Fries were absolutely to die for. Service was super friendly. Only reasons I only gave it four stars were: -the Mac and Cheese bites were made with KD and it was like 7.95 for like 6 bites. To me, I don’t think it’s worth it when it’s Kraft Dinner and the taste was just not great. -the coconut shrimp had barely any coconut and it just wasn’t great. We’ll definitely be ordering from here again because the fish and chips speaks for itself, though I don’t think we’d order the other stuff again.

The Facebook page "Caught on Guelph" voted this as the best Fish & Chips in Guelph so we had to try them. And it was 100% worth it. Their fish portions and so much bigger than anyone else's in town, and yet they were cooked to perfection. I enjoy crunchy french fries more than the kind they serve at Captain Jack's but they were still delicious and the breaded shrip appeticer was completely worth it. Can't recommend it enough! (Also, they were so nice to us on the phone and when we went in on Saturday).

This must be the only Fish & Chips restaurant on this planet that doesn't give you tartar sauce. Plain Fish & Chips is not very favourable. Any rating above 1 star is fake. Very disappointing dinner order at our workplace. Will never order from again.

Great fish and chips and the service is fast and friendly. The hostess makes sure you have all the extras (cutlery, ketchup, vinegar, etc.) before you head out the door with your takeout. I go there almost weekly and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

What a great little resteraunt ! We've passed by this storefront many times saying we should try it and finally got around to visiting. It wont be the last time ! The fish and chips (why would you order the burger !) were cooked to perfection, crispy English style batter (available gluten free too !) fresh cut chips and a generous helping of homemade coleslaw. The staff were great and the feel of the resteraunt would remind you of being on the East Coast. Good value and just right portions.

The coleslaw was a great compliment to the meal. we have moved to the US and fish and chips is not easy to come by especially halibut. Absolutely my favourite place in Guelph for fish & chips! Both their pickup and delivery options have been great during COVID, everything is delicious and hot when you are ready to eat. The prices are very reasonable and you get a good amount of food for the price. They also have a dedicated fryer for gluten-free items (including the fries) which is wonderful for my partner who can't have gluten. The staff are great and very accommodating regarding allergies and intolerances, they advised us about the malt vinegar containing gluten as well when we ordered there for the first time.

You can feel good giving your money to Captain Jack's restaurant in exchange for their lovely fish and chips; big chain restaurants don't really need your money and have servers that will never remember you and don't really love their jobs. Captain Jack's, however, is an amazing, independent restaurant, run by a hard-working couple who deserve for their restaurant to thrive for many years to come.

Its a cute little restaurant that's easy to miss. The prices are very reasonable for the food you get. I went for lunch and got haddock, the taste is spot on. The staff are friendly and service is quick. Would definitely return for another lunch excursion.

Amazing owners, amazing food & I love that they have a dedicated fryer for gluten-free. They have a great selection of gluten free menu options as well! Owner's are incredibly knowledgeable, super friendly and welcoming as well. Hands down, best fish and chips place around! We frequent it as much as we can afford to. Having my allergies accommodated without the worry of cross contamination or risk, is so refreshing! Many restaurants could learn a few things from them!

Had the haddock special for lunch today..$8.50!!..way cheaper than a greasy burger and fries. Service was quick...a great place to stop on lunch. Portion size is perfect.. not too many fries (which how many times would just ended up wasted)...and I do prefer my fish with light batter which they will happily do upon request.
