This is my favourite place to buy groceries. I love walking in the door by the produce because it smells so gorgeous as soon as you walk through the doors. The produce is always beautiful, the meat selection is always wonderful and at a great price, and Safeway has the best donuts in town. If you are looking for a nice fresh salad, their counter at the back of the produce section has a great variety of different kinds. My favourite is the blueberry chicken with walnuts on lettuce.

None of the managers running the place seem to give two hoots about protecting the vulnerable people from COVID at all. No masks, no real attempt to control lines, just the most cursory nod to the (at the time) imposed maximum number of people via a security "guard". Then again, of all the communities in Alberta I've been to since this Pandemic landed in Canada, GP in general is one of the worst in terms of having a clue.

So you take away plastic bags and replace them with paper ... so cut a tree so save the environment. Also you have a person at the door maybe they can remind customers as they come in so you don’t feel hijacked at the till to pay for bags because you don’t offer plastic anymore.

I apologize for the low rating. But when I honestly forget my Debit Card and left the cake dessert on the customer service desk. There was no need for the snotty ass comment "Can't just take it for free" and eye me down as I walk out the door and continue trash talking my heritage from the "door greater" lady with the nappy uneven coloured haircut. Defiantly not visiting this establishment again.

They just moved here and are trying to learn their way around the stores and town. They came back home just smiling and so happy with the service they received at Safeway! Friendly staff. Fresh produce. Have what I need. Prices are not as good as Superstore but are cheaper than Coop and IGA. I can be in and put very quickly. They pack my bags and I don't have to pay for carts or bags.

We do most of our grocery shopping here, great selection and fresh food. The people working the tills are pleasant. There is lots of parking and usually not a long wait in the till line. Also a great place to get flowers on a whim

Groceries, Fuel, and even a Liquor store all in one stop with ample parking and a central location. Not much in the way of crowds, and staff who are pleasant to interact with. They may be a bit more expensive than others stores, but you get what you pay for.

They store is organized and set-up in a common sense way, for the most part anyway. They rotate sale items on a routine it feels like, so if you time it and with some luck you will be able to purchase most of your groceries on at least some kind of sale (ie not full price). Staff is friendly and usually knowledgeable, they are also helpful and have been very generous and understanding with me. Keep up the good work everyone at Safeway Northgate!

You usually dont need to wait in a long line up because they have enough tills open Stuff is a little more expensive but you take the gas discount into account it evens out. They keep the snow removed in parking lot very . The store is well organized and clean. Was able to order a special icing for a birthday cake, they made it with less sugar

I only go here when I have to. Wish GP had a Sobey's. The staff here are usually friendly and helpful, but especially with COVID it is probably the most difficult store to shop in. One way aisles, but only one door in/out! No online shopping options, and they won't even hold a single item at customer service so you can avoid walking through the entire store for one thing.

I used to shop here. Then one day I forgot my coffee cup on a shelf while filling my basket. I never noticed until I was already home with my groceries. Now I'm too embarrassed to show my face there ever again. It was my favorite cup, a reusable Tim Horton's mug. The writing was slightly worn off and scratched up from the thousands of washes but I didn't care. To me it was as the good as the day I got it. Life was a lot simpler back then... I don't know how life will ever be the same. One foot in front of the other, I guess. It hurts now but I'm told will get easier with time. RIP Tim Hortons reusable mug.

I shop here sometimes, usually just for a couple specific items and not as often as I would like because despite this grocery store having an amazing deli/bakery, delicious in house made meals and a great selection of pretty well everything, it is unfortunately too expensive here to grocery shop on a budget and earning airmiles with your purchases just doesnt do enough to make up for that.

Definitely a go-to place to find your flowers, from early morning until late in the evening they are open for your flower and grocery getting needs. They have a decent variety at a reasonable price. The reasonable price is why I keep going back. I especially like how they have a nice variety of potted flowers as well :-)

Of the two safeway loxations in Grande Prairie the north location (this one) has the better deli and hot foods section. It is well maintained and consistently provides good quality. The safeway liquor store in the same parking lot has a good selection of wine

I find its the cleanest and most organized Safeway out of the two here on grande prairie. There shelves are always full stocked and they usually have what I need when I go. I do wish they had more of a gluten free section though other than baked goods. I find them a bit more expensive than most grocery stores here. The stuff does stand around more and chat in groups but they do seem to be respectful towards customers. They also rush and sometimes thats not always the greatest because they either double scan or end up ripping bags. I do think they need to have a better lighting in the fruit area hard to see and that it does need to be a bit cleaner some of those shelves are a bit grungy looking. How ever you never know a person's daily work day and they could be swamped with more important things. All and all they do provide good service.
