Selection. Freshness. Simple. This is day two of being open and they are catching a stride. The service experience was for takeout, and they were fast. I ordered and came back in 8 minutes and the staff recognized me and brought out my order. It was complete. It was correct. It was exactly what I wanted. The batter is a bit eggy, it it stayed crisp in the tide home because they know how to package. (Besides the lemons- I wouldn’t pack with the fish, but they are generous with the lemons). In short, I held my breathe as I took my paper bag, carefully stapled shut, back home. I waited to be disappointed by a new restaurant in Fort Mac. Breath easy, my friends. This will almost take your breath away! The coleslaw is so simple, but perfectly cut and made fresh- you could add some favourites at home like raisins or celery seed, but it isn’t needed. The fish was fresh. I can’t state this enough- if you hang your hat on fish, it must be good. I brought home an entire selection of their battered fried fish and every one of them were great for a different reason. Simple fresh flavour in the Joeys and the Cod, excellent flake in the haddock, and we even splurged for the steaky halibut for $16. It was the way it should be. Not greasy or heavy. Next time I’ll try the fries- I didn’t want to get distracted. But they have a selection of kicked up fries, too. I’ll be back for those soon… Check them out and place an order. I can’t keep them open myself (I wish!), but if you try it, Joeys will be here to stay.

Wanted to try this place for a while. Looks cool and the menu is good enough. I was super excited to try the garlic fries! They came out soaking in oil, on top of that soggy. Worked in culinary before and it was like they were sitting and re-deep fried, were not hot at all. Crispy chicken burger was on a cold bun, so it wasn’t hot in general either. Needless to say food went in and out, Literally. Fish tacos were good though! Also didn’t get our pops brought out. To bad. Maybe an off day for the kitchen staff.

A Very welcome tastebud distraction to Fort McMurray! Fast service and clean location, The Calamari does NOT dissapoint Also The Haddock and Salmon are Outstanding and have a myriad of fries option(Truffle cheese!) To try from. And Coconut Shrimp anyone?! And an extended thank you to Angela "Angie" for making the dining experience all the better with professionalism showed by her. Thanks again Joey's

We made a big order for 110 dollars, the lobster bisque was the best thing we got and it wasn’t that good. The cod and shrimp with coconut milk was loaded with cod and shrimp but it was completely flavourless. Same thing can be said with everything we ordered, lots of shrimp and fish utterly lacking in flavour. After paying that much for a meal for two I can say we will not be ordering from there again.

I specifically asked the girl behind the register what the difference between their cod and any other fish they offered in the fish and chips; she motioned with her hand that they were 0.5 - 0.75 inch thick. Ok, not bad for $19 with shrimp. My cod was 1 mm thick. Joey's Fish Shack should rename this particular menu item Batter and Chips. However, the batter is the best in Fort Mac and their gravy is better than KFC.

Had the cod fish and chips , (fries ) , mushy peas came 10 minutes later , cold in certain parts , ice cold I mean , just came out off the micro wave , I've grown up for many years eating fish , fries and mushy peas , from the Atlantic , this was a one in five rating , very poor

Yesterday my son and I stopped at Joey's for dinner. He LOVES fish and chips. I didn't realize it hadn't officially opened yet but when we were talking to the owner and some of the staff they treated my son (7 yrs) to some fish and chips on the house :) He was so excited! The French fries are probably the best ones in town (IMO) and the fish was also amazing. The owner (I didn't catch his name) was super friendly. Also his staff Mary and another woman (whose name I also didn't get) were also incredibly friendly. We will definitely be going back once they are officially opened.

Iv ordered here twice and had 2 different experiences. First time was great food was awesome. Tonight I ordered take out and and wait an 1 1/2 hours. This didn't bother too much as it was pretty busy these things happened. What bothered me was my fish was cold. So it leads me to beleive you lost track of my order the fish got cold and you still served it to me. In the future please just remake the fish and make me wait a little longer.

Worst fish and chips I've ever had. Way over priced and ridiculously small portions.

Waited at front and was noticed by worker and waited a couple more minutes then sat down. Was noticed by the paper ripping lady twice, and by cook again. 10 minutes and no service.
