This Fish Shop corresponds to the category of Fish & chips restaurant.
Found this restaurant by accident and I am very impressed!! The prices were very reasonable (less than $10 for most burgers!) And I must say they are in the running for best fish and chips in town! Will be back and would highly recommend.
Always great food. Nothing has changed for years and that's a good thing!
Nice family run business
Great fish, lots of chips too. Has been consistently good for a very long time. Keep it up!
We happened upon this restaurant after a long day of sight seeing, we were all hungry and it was late. We were all completely satisfied with our meal, the food was great, some of the best fish and chips any of us had had and the service was warm and friendly. James was our waiter and he was a kick in the pants! We couldn’t have been happier with our meal.
best fish and chips. subscribe to my youtube channel
My husband insisted in coming to visit this place. He said it was everything that he could hope for. But he wish there’s more fish because its a little pricey.
Loved our halibut and chips!!
THESE CHIPS ARE FANTASTIC! Quite a few places serve decent fish and fall short on the chips, but Brady's are perfect. Crispy outside, soft and fluffy inside, and nicely browned without overcooking. The piece of cod was a good size, coated in a tasty batter and as with the chips, done just right. I'll definitely return here.
Great fish and chips will recommended ..
Yummy!
Bradys fish and chips has been my family's go-to place for the past 40 years ☺. I do believe they have switched locations but they're still on Burnside Road. Traditional British take out for fries and fish wrapped in newspaper (with a pick-up fry tucked in the exterior ????????????????). I have dined in and it was an equally good experience.
Love their poutein with extra cheese and gravy! And yes it’s vegetarian.
Very delicious ???? n me lady enjoyed the Nuggets..
Very greasy and undercooked
Blonde girl working there very cute with great personality, also food is okay.
Great fish and chips, the owners are super pleasant too!
We ordered a grilled halibut burger for $10 (just a burger, no fries) and were appalled that Brady's could not feel ashamed of themselves for serving that, and for that price. The white bun was plain and dry (not fresh), the "mayonnaise" was sweet, which means it was more like dressing than actual mayo, the tartar sauce was scarce, there were a few shreds of iceberg lettuce, and the two small slices of tomato were an anemic salmon pink colour at best. The halibut covered only about half of the bun and was really thin. We also ordered a special of a piece of cod, fries and a drink for $11.95, and that was almost as disappointing. The cod was a decent size, but it was surrounded by lots of greasy and salty batter. The fries didn't seem fresh and definitely were not remarkable. And, no lemon, tartar sauce, ketchup or cutlery was offered. We waited about 15 minutes for our takeout order and there was only one customer aside from us. The woman providing the service was a strange combination of dour and friendly. Overall, the experience was abysmal.
Prompt service, good portions and great fish. Will always come back here for fish and chips.
Great fish and chips. Very authentic British style fish and chips! Ready very quickly and large portions. The homemade tartar sauce is excellent. Due to covid restrictions currently take out only on my visit.
Some of the best fish and chips in town. The staff are very friendly and the prices are great! The interior leaves a lot to be desired though... not updated and feels like a mid-90s time capsule.
Average fish and chips at best. Very odd owners who turn away customers a couple of mins before closing. Then on top of paying $25 for fish and chips of which the fish is cut too thin and looses it's flavor when dreged in the tasteless batter they use.... you then have to pay for condiments. (Before they say... we do give tartar sauce with the orders) it is less then a fluid ounce and barely enough for a couple of fries much less your fish. Truly sad as they could be a lot better.
Amazing halibut. Fries looked like they would be great, but just felt off. I'm guessing the fries had malt vinegar on them.. not my thing.
Friendly service but oh so greasy ... even on the fish and chip grease scale. The fish (cod) had a very strong flavour. Not the best quality ingredients.
Tends to be a little greasy and if you order near closing time the fish can be a little under cooked. Prices are a little less than some places.
I wish I could give a higher rating. The staff are nice and outgoing, and the location is very convenient. Simple fish and chips will give you an excellent portion. Not enough takeout seating but you can use the dine-in seating. Wait time is 20 mins which is normal. I couldn't help but notice someone coughing while waiting by the order desk but part of the kitchen is there and not shielded from customers. I really want them to do great but they need a renovation. 3/5
The haddock was delicious. The chips were mealy and tasted like fish.
Nice staff. The decor and environment is dismal. It needs a good cleaning, didn't smell good in there. The food wasn't great. I think they mean well but need to roll up their sleeves and get to work. It needs a new floor, new chairs, new paint, new everything. Place needs a total make over including their recipes. I think they need to change the oil in the fryer. Sigh.
Ok not as good as before
Very greasy.
Good fish chips hot . Liked it a lot
Went to the old location when I was 8 years old and finally got to take my 8 year old son there last week. We had a great time and it looks like we may have found our "after soccer eatery" ????
Really good
Amazing prices delicious food and great service. Thank you for stsying open in these weird times.
$ too much foods just good
Still the best
The food used to be the best in the city for fish & chips. Things have changed. The batter drips of grease and the servings are small. Also very expensive. You are well into the $40 mark for two people.
Huge Portions! Be careful of how much you order! The prices are fair for the amount you get. The owners are great people.
Best fish and chips in Victoria, ask for 1 and 1 wrapped open. ???? Bradys has been my go to spot since my family started going there over 40 years ago, the location has changed the food and awesome service have not!
Always great food
Always great food
Friendly and great service . Of course great food . The best fish and chips .
Great food...never a bad order
Tried his place out for first time was pretty good will definitely have again.
Burger fries snd fish are Great!#!
A real taste of The Great British Chippy! ????
Fish was good- will return.
Great fish and chips.
Not the same as before for sure. Bit of a 'greasy spoon' now. To make it worse, they are pricey. We ordered 2 take-out orders of 1 piece halibut and chips. Came out to 31 dollars! Yes, halibut is expensive, but the piece of halibut was small. Can't recommend with a clean conscience.
Excellent fish and chips, and the best onion rings I've had in years.
Would benefit from cleaning dining area and smell. How are the prices good here? However, they seem to get steady business.
Satisfied my hankering for fish and chips, but not enough to want to return. I am a person that likes decently battered crispy fish, however the batter was too much and while the exterior was delightful and crispy, the interior layer was gummy. For batter this thick you need to cook it longer, or compensate with a thicker piece of fish. The batter is quite bland and the greasiness was a bit heavy. It also seemed like old oil just by the taste which was slightly offputting. The chips were good. I am disappointed the 1 piece special doesn't come with a lemon wedge or a bit of tartar sauce (I recommend prompting an add on on your website under the specials menu). Good sized portion for a solo dinner ($13)...Not good enough to return but not bad enough to call and complain. Just meh.
Best fish and chips I have ever had in Victoria, they always give great customer service as well. Never disappointed when I go here.
Love the classic fish and chips. Staff are helpfull. Pieces are huge. Chips are addictive. Onion rings not so much.
Classic fish and chips as good as it gets!
Our team stopped by this amazing little restaurant today for lunch. Great staff, and even better food! Highly recommend this place. Next time you're out looking for somewhere to eat don't drive passed this place without checking out the great affordable menu they offer. Thank you so much for the service! We will be sure to come back. See you again VERY soon!
Feels like a relic
Halibut n chips
Brady's is a very homestyle, cute little fish and chips place and the meal was excellent. I had seafood chowder and some fish and chips as well. For the price, the food was really good and you could taste how fresh the seafood was. The staff was friendly however the service was a little slow as it wasn't that crowded and fried foods typically shouldn' t take too long. Altogether though, I would definitely recommends this establishment if you have a hankering for fish and chips.
Best Fish and chips shop in the city, 1st off thick cut pieces of fish that make it worth every penny. Family owned and operated too which matters to me cause I like to support small local businesses whenever possible.
Great food best fish in town
Very good fish and chips. Two pieces of halibut with small fries and Cole slaw came to $27 with taxes. It took 1/2 hour to prepare. When I got home, I found they didn't include the tartar sauce and they forgot the cole slaw. It was good but I'm going to try someplace else next time
The service was good and the beers were cold. But the quality of the food is not what it used to be. Needless to say I was feeling very sick afterwards.
Just found this place today and it was excellent. Fish and Chips were delicious! And the portions were large and prices were very good. We will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!
A typical old family business. They use really old plates. Food is ok. Not the most tasty. You can say, it is the actual taste of Fish n chips. Service was ok.
Good sized portion for a solo dinner ($13)...Not good enough to return but not bad enough to call and complain. Just meh.
Brady's Fish & Chips is the best fish and chips spot in town. A hidden gem, nestled beside a laundromat, Brady's serves the most tender halibut alongside think-you-may-have-died-and-gone-to-heaven fries. If you're lucky, they might even stick a couple chips in between the newspaper of your to-go order, so you have a savoury snack for your car ride home. Not only is the food unforgettable, you'll be reminded of the salty greasy deliciousness from the fingerprints left on your steering wheel...
Great food great staff and great service
Here for take-out they were quick and reasonably priced.......and the fish has always been great!
Great food. Fresh and authentic. Take out, or sit in, kid friendly.
Friendly staff with the best fish and chips
Fish was not cod, so grasey I couldn't eat, batter was so thick it didn't get cooked thru. Oil needed to be changed, fries were not crispy and we waited for this to be cooked. Don't eat there, so sad used to be excellent.
Great food!
Some of the best.
The halibut was worth the extra charge and the large portion of chips was more than enough for two adults. The service was as friendly and exquisite as the tasty food. Recommend it for sure and will be visiting again.
Last time i went the fish was good the fries bad. I think they do not change the oil frequently enough.
Nice staff, good food. Would like to try more than the fish and chips soon.
Where to locals eat regularly. Service can be hit-or-miss. Large dining space. I got the 1 piece special (cod) with a beverage for $13 with tax. I was told this was a 'take-out special' only but they served it to me after I decided to dine-in instead. Look closely at the menu above the counter - some pricing is for take-out only. That was a bit confusing to me. My order took about 10 minutes; others who came after me got their food before me. Some diners appeared to be regular customers: they were greeted and their orders known including their preferred drinks. My piece of cod was good (I rarely eat fish) and fries a bit to crisp. My experience was OK.
Great fish n chips
Not bad
Best fish and chips in victoria
Excellent food and awesome service ????
I had never tried this restaurant until today, but I have tried many fish and chip restaurants in Victoria or have ordered fish and chips at restaurants around town. It is usually disappointing to order fish and chips in Victoria. This experience was a pleasant surprise. The halibut was cooked well with crispy and perfect batter. It was not soggy at all, even towards the end of the meal. They obviously know how to get their oil hot enough. The chips were good too. The tartar sauce was good. The staff were friendly and great at their jobs. I would definitely return. Parking is free. The place seems fully accessible, as I managed to get in here with a double stroller.
I've been eating fish and chips since i was a little kid, no one compares to my grandpas... except Brady's!!! The staff here is amazing, extremely friendly and WOW the fish and chips is amazing. We order almost every Friday.
Nice people good food
Best fish and chips place in town. Great tasting fish, scallops, oyster, and of course fries.
Good food, takeout is relatively quick. If you’re in the mood for fish and chips this is your stop. *Review edited. Previous issues improved a while back, forgot to change.
I consistently order from here for take out. I have never been disappointed. I think the best in town.
Perfect amount of batter and crispness of the fish - best we’ve had in awhile and reminds me of the fish ‘n chips I used to get in the UK. Glad we took the halibut option. Was actually so good that I didn’t even use my tartar sauce. Met the owners Sharon & Darren (Shazza & Dazza) too - very nice, hard working people. Will definitely stop in here again the next time we’re in Victoria!
good fish and chips
Good food and friendly service..
Best fish and Chips on Vancouver Island !!!
The place was really busy and we had to wait longer than usual for our order to be fulfilled
Huge amount of decent fries and quite quick. Fish was so so
Love their poutein with extra cheese and gravy! And yes it’s vegetarian.
Great fish and chips and table service!
Been in business a very long time, still good fish & chips.
The halibut was a bit pricy but it was worth it
Good fish & chips and burgers, friendly staff.
Some of the best chips I have had. Great fish. Beyond good value for an awesome traditional dinner. For what you get at McDonald's a burger and fries is pathetic in comparison.
great fish n chips and superb staff
Excellent fish and chips. Great service.
Love the halibut awesome always twice a month or more
Best fish and chips in Victoria
Our go-to fish and chips spot in Victoria
I have eaten here before and it was always good. This visit mid-day we were the only customers. Our order of fish was excellent but the chips were blanched and reheated. They came out nicely browned but hard as rocks. Coleslaw had a faint browned cast that looked like it had been sitting too long. I would never eat here again except at peak meal time. How disappointing.
It's not bad decent fish and chips
Got taken here by my best friend and we shared the "Captain's Plate" which is a sampler of a lot of their menu offerings. Big enough to easily split between two people, and it was hot and fresh, and delicious. Good food in a homey setting.
No gluten free fish and chips.
Fish had a goo for batter :(
The best in the city. Fabulous Halibut. Freshly made in- house coledlaw every dsy. Delicious!
Very Good Service and the Fish & Chips where well Worth the time to find this hidden gem - plus the Burgers are Huge
LOVE The Clam Chowder !! Its White, Extremely Tasty...????...I will be back !!
I went in to Brady's randomly and was pleasantly surprised. The food was great and they gave us huge portions. This is a local business that deserves to be supported so they can be around for years to come.
Do not eat here !!!! After sharing with them that I had a plastic piece in my fish I suggested it looks like a tooth pick and they said we have no plastic toothpicks in the place ... that's it no apology nothing regarding that it could of cut my mouth open I've put a picture in the photos go have a look. This place is nothing what it use to be 10 years ago. Greasy food and you might get a surprise ... good luck
We ordered the halibut and chips and decided to dine in with our two young daughters. Fish was battered nicely and cooked to perfection. I enjoyed a cold glass of white wine. The kids loved an ice cream sandwich for dessert. We love supporting local businesses and love that this family puts their heart and soul into this family run business.
Always great service.. The fish is always cooked too perfection..
Great staff and good food
I ordered fries and gravy here years ago and both were excellent, which is why I considered ordering from here recently. I looked up reviews and the snarky tone of the owners/staff responses to criticism was such a turn off for me that I decided not to give this establishment my business. Plus it looks like the food quality is not consistent now. It's best to respect customers' opinions and feedback, and try to improve. That's how you keep customers.
Always Great food and service
Love the staff, always treated as family ❤❤❤
Best fish and chips in Vic hands down!
Great fish and chips
I have been going there for 31 years. The place is always A-1 for service, atmosphere, and quality.
Great service and very friendly.
Slow service. Poor food quality
Great food and staff, We go about 3 times a month
Pretty greasy. Not so good taste.
Food is always great. Fish is fresh
Went for dinner here and food was delicious and the service was excellent, made the trip to the island ????️ that much more enjoyable. Thanks for the great food and service.???????? The scallops and shrimp were great ????
Co worker recommended and boy was he not wrong, work just down the road so will be coming back more often. Also enjoyed the response to Mr.Robert
Top notch Spot!
My daughters and I just had fantastic fish and chips at a reasonable price. The fish was cooked to perfection and the fries and coleslaw were fresh and yummy. Definitely worth the drive from downtown. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. Great spot!
Went for take out today! Excellent friendly service…Huge hot crispy piece of cod and yummy fries. Great prices and big portions! Highly recommend! So glad I finally tried it…YUM
We ordered the family 6 piece meal and it was absolutely discusting. There was more batter then there was fish and it was very greasy and gooey. Such a waste of money
I normally love Brady's Fish and Chips but last Tuesdays Cod tasted horrible. What is worse is that the dinner was purchased for my Mom and Laws Birthday dinner. Needless to say I was embarrassed because I've always raved about Brady's! They have a $5 cod special of Tuesdays, I was wondering if this was very old cod we purchased? It looked brown/grey and not the normal white I'm accustom to. This is the first time ordering the "special" on Tuesdays. I won't do that again, but I will try ordering again on another day.
Great food????
Not as good as expected for fresh fish.
Ordered the seafood combo. Arrived to watch the lady cook the fish and saw that she was pulling the fish out of the fryer to add batter to it, this happened three times. Batter soaks in oil every time you pull it out. As I was starving decided to take the order anyways. BIG Mistake. To my surprise there was no tartar sauce or lemon wedges included in the order. REALLY your a Fish and Chip place. The batter was salty passed the point of being edible and everything was doughy and oily. The only good thing I can say was that the Ketchup (Heinz) and drink (Sprite) were normal. DO NOT EAT HERE so sad to see a restaurant fall so short of serving edible food.
We came to the island for a vacation and we were disappointed with food till this place. Sweet family orientated. Great food . Well priced. Thank you guys so much for the hospitality ????
The battered wasnt the best to chippy instead of crunchy
Food was hot, fresh and taste. Portions are generous.
Top quality product and great service
Great portions & prices
Awesome fish and chips and great customer service
Love the halibut! Always great
Authentic fish and chips, decent prices, made fresh to order. Cute little hole in the wall location. We visited twice on our trip to Victoria and would definitely recommend.
Good food
The cod pieces were huge.. enjoyed my meal
Great food great service
Yummy clam chowder!
They prepare food without masks. Don't come here and get Corona.
Painstakingly slow service, fish and chips too long in the fryer. Will not be returning
Limp soggy fries and cod. No condiments or tartar sauce in the take out bag. I won't be returning.
Got some halibut and chips, calamari, and a halibut burger from here last night. The fish was really good. But the chips tastes terrible. I don't think they've changed their oil in months. Don't order the fries from here. The halibut was decent.
Every time I order here the food is delicious and the staff are so friendly! Definitely a 10/10
Fantastic
Made to order, always hot and crispy
I also was extremely disappointed as I purchased fish & chips, coleslaw, gravy for my 91 year old Mother as a surprise???? Well it certainly was a surprise, as the fish was terrible, as was the batter. The coleslaw.was in big chunks, not even grated & they piled on the chips. The fellow I dealt with was very nice when I picked up the order. When I phoned to complain & left a message for the manager to call me back, he was very rude & left a message for me to call him,so he could tell me just what he thought about "me". After spending about 25 dollars for a meal that went in the garbage, I was shocked at his unprofessional rude response! Definitely would not spend a dime in this establishment.
We visited for the first time tonight and were very happy with the food and service. Our waiter James was friendly and pleasant to chat with. We will be back :)
Great fish and chips, best in the city I think.
Best fish and chips around
Always friendly staff. Best fish and chips in town. You have to try their cheese fingers too!!
Iconic place! Wonderful fish and chips!!!!
This was the best fish and chips I have ever had. I wish I would have discovered this little place when I first arrived. I would have eaten there all week. Salmon bites are amazing!!! Will definitely visit them on my next trip to Victoria. Until next time. Thank you for the great food. Renee from Ottawa!
Me and the wife love this place always good service
Excellent fries
I ordered a 6 piece and it was all gooey and gross, very disgusting i will never order from here again. I'm very dissappointed.....
Bradys has the best fish and chips in Victoria. If you haven't tried them you are missing out.
Excellent halibut & chips , great service! Good prices!
Very greasy
Fish & Chips were nice & hot & portions generous.
Went for lunch today. Good halibut..REALLY good oysters! Haven't been there for years. Great time to go..Monday @ 2 or so..not too busy. Good prices..and portions. One critique..the fat or oil they used needed to be changed..had a bit of a bitter taste. Service was great..very pleasant people! Best we've had in Victoria for years.
The best fish and chips in town! Always great food and service!! :)
Best F&C in town. Hands down!
Fish was so greasy, that we had to use paper towels to soak up the grease. However, the halibut was sweet and juicy once you took off the batter. As for the fried yams, too soggy soaking in grease.once again, used paper towels but the damage was done and we just threw them out.
Good service and excellent fish the prices are fair as the food is delicious ????
Family owned and operated great food reasonablely priced
Two much greasy they need to change their oil and pat down their fish
Food and service is excellent
I have never had french fries that I was unable to eat until I went to Brady's. They were cooked over and over and just soaking in deep fat oil. All you could taste was the oil. Phoned to complain and the person who answered the phone phone was rude and condescending. I told him they have lost a customer and he could not care one bit. I will be telling ALL of my friends and family to stay away from that dump. Never again will i go to Brady's Fish and Oil Chips again.
Pretty quick service....somewhere between fast-food and a "sit down" meal. Great batter fish and a variety of other dishes as well. Also very kind service offered a small tasting of fries for my son to eat on the car ride home. Also it's nice to not have the food immediately salted and instead they actually ask you. There's a TV to watch while you wait. And a single seater window bench if you're on your own. There is also a discount family option which is a pretty good deal and a pop cooler full of your favourites! Inside, there is also booth seating if you change your mind about take-out and decide to stay. Enjoy your meal!
Food is not bad. Expect to wait 15 - 20 extra minutes past your pickup time.
Too notch, as always!
Always good service and friendly when we order .... and amazing food ever had a bad experience here... highly recommend eating here
GREAT food. Quick service. Prices have increased a bit too much in recent years, but food is still good.
Friendly staff, good food
Great ,as always. Never greasy .
Great food and service friendly staff and a made to feel welcome
Great fish and chips!
Well let's just say we phoned in and still had too wait 15min, got the halibut and small fries. The halibut was over cooked to the point of burnt batter, the fries were terrible small pcs over cooked hard bottom of the basket with batter chunks . Very sad to write this kind of review,we use to love their food too bad please try harder ,find the passion for food and make it great again!! Update!! I went back for takeout today and ordered cod and chips. The fish was delicious golden in color, juicy and super tasty! The chips were to die for! Way to go Bradys and a special thanks to the young lady that prepared the meal. The passion is back and we look forward to eating here again!
