Edit March 8, 2020: the Rancheros wrap is off the menu :( so most of this review no longer applies I can only review weekend breakfast, since this is the only time I eat here. As you would expect, there are no explicit vegan options on the menu. So I always get the Rachcheros wrap without egg and cheese and they have never messed up my order :) Because they have at least this one easily convertible meal I can eat, Nickles is my favourite close-to-home traditional breakfast place. Prices are good and the staff is friendly and efficient.

One of our first stops on our weekend Montreal trip was Les Jardins Dorval, where we came across this restaurant. It's a rather large restaurant, but was pretty dead - only 2 other tables when we arrived at 2:30pm on a Saturday long weekend. We should've taken this as our first red flag. We were seated quickly by an older waitress, but service from there went pretty downhill. We had just gotten off a flight, so we only wanted to have something light. We ordered a Philly Steak Sandwich and six appetizer wings to share - the waitress had a bit of an attitude saying things like "that's it? If you're not going to buy, then bye bye"... Maybe she was joking but that was a little iffy to us. As for the food... The steak sandwich was okay. Cheese and philly steak were good, but maybe there was a bit too much grease, because the toasted hotdog bun it came on was pretty soggy. Portion sizes were good. The appetizer wings came with the sauce on the side (appreciated) and were just your average wings. Service throughout the meal was non-existent. Both waitresses had their head down when walking and it took us several minutes to flag someone down, despite it not being busy at all.

Hi - On St..Valentines day 2021, I went to Nicklels to pick up a filet mignon brochette that I had ordered by phone. We had eaten there last year and it was pretty good. I returned home with it, and when my girlfriend opened the container, it was ,by far, the best looking brochette that we had ever seen,and it was super delicious!! It was very full of fillet mignon. Never before, at any restaurant, did I ever see that much meat!! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!! Thanks again!! AAAAAAAAAAA+++++++

The food was great. I asked the waitress if its possible to cut the sandwich in half in my plate and she rudely refused and told me that I can cut it myself when it arrives. Normally waitresses smile but not this one. She might be getting too old for this job but who knows. Anyways Nickels, please focus on the servers at your restaurant, please remind them that the better service they offer, the better tips they make. Also, can you please install this electric fly killer. You have a small fly and fruit fly problem. Thank you.

Very disappointing, smoked meat plate was small, only gave a little bit of cole slaw and fries were avg at best. My wife's plate was pork brochettes, was ok. The big disappointment was for my daughter, we ordered her mac n cheese and it was literally Kraft dinner, and not even that much. For $6.99 I didn't expect much, but come on make an effort. Staff was ok.

Went out there with a friend, was excited to go as I had not been to Nickels since the one in the West Island closed years ago. I had one of their burger, the Jimmy Dean and was thoroughly disappointed, the first bite was so juicy that it dripped on to my blouse, all subsequent bites were dry and tasteless. Not going back there again. And the waitress at first was on the rude side, when my friend was complaining that the price for milkshakes were quite high, she was taking it personally and was quite rude to my friend. We don't need that kind of service.

A great addition to the mall. If you have a hankering for fish and chips, the one here is really good, nice and crispy, flavourful, and the sauce that comes with it is amazing. Smoked meats are delicious, burgers are great, comes with a little coleslaw which is also good. Poutines are also good, they actually use the right kind of cheese.. the Quebecoise poutine is probably the best one. They also have great breakfast choices. One thing to note, and it's not a deal breaker, but the waitstaff can sometimes get a little preoccupied talking with other clients, when they should be taking orders, refilling coffees, bringing food to tables... especially when you've been waiting for 25 minutes just to place an order and there is literally only 2 other tables in the section they're taking care of and they clearly aren't understaffed... again not a deal break just extremely annoying.

I was there on May 28th 2019 at 1:30pm. The place was about half full. The service was average, almost curt. I ordered a jumbo smoked meat sandwich which took about twenty minutes and arrived cold. I would have sent it back but I was hungry. The waitress never asked me how the meal was so I’m writing this as feedback. I must say, I found it strange that the restaurant is separated by many dividers. This meant that the servers have to wind their way around an obstacle course to get from one area to the next, it must be both tiring and frustrating. I won’t be back.

I ordered the plate with just a smoke meet sandwich the meat tasted like ham soaked in water. when finally ordering the waitress was stupid and rude to us with each word we said. when i finally could pay the bill i didn't tip the waitress downright yelling at us. I told her her silly demeanor and verbal aggression didn't deserve a tip she yelled and left. the waitress was a blonde who looked to be in her fifties. Let me start off by saying that the food is ok. It's not amazing and it's not poor. For a sit down restaurant however, it's def. a bit of a let down. Not helping that are the prices, which are astronomically high. Now if the food had been mind blowing, then ok, there's at least a reason. But the very average food does not justify the inflated prices. Wait staff was ok and the portions were also ok. A very average restaurant with expensive meals. The one thing it has going for it is that apart from a Scores resto, there's not really any similar options.

I like chicken wings, but I don't love them. At least, I did not until I tried the ones available here. I had them without sauce, crispy but, oddly, still slightly soft skin made these three best wings I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. The french fries are unique but won't be disappointing to anyone who enjoys fries. They are incredibly thin but still soft on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. I spoke with the manager (or owner, I do not recall) about an issue I had with the brand of some of their condiments, French's. The American branch of this corporation supports Autism Speaks, a "charity" that does terrible things for autistic people and does not in any way represent their interests. While the condiment choice is not within this person's power to change, I was made to feel that my feedback was valued, understood, duly considered and forwarded to the relevant individuals. This person was kind and incredibly friendly, I forsee multiple promotions in his future.

Dorval Nickels restaurant is a great choice for dinner, lunch or breakfast. The food is always fresh, the service is very attentive and the place is spotless. Plenty of parking and comfy booths, service with a smile, you just can’t go wrong. Their menu is extensive. Personally, I really like their Chicken Parmesan and hamburger steak dinner. Friends have really enjoyed the burgers and smoked meat.

Went Tuesday evening for dinner with a friend to catch up. Food was excellent but much like most people have commented here - service was terrible. Waited for like 10 minutes for anyone to come see us, waitress gave us a look when we declined anything to drink but water. (we are having a heat wave!) She brought us our food, never came back to see if everything was okay. Never got the water refill we asked twice for. She was at least quick to bring us our bill but did not appreciate being rushed to pay and leave. Not sure if she was unhappy that our bill was not very high or if she just hates her job. Either way that should not be the problem of the customer.

Went last night for supper with my wife. The food was excellent. We both had the smoked meat, fries, coleslaw and pickle. The service was terrible. We must have been there for a good ten minutes before anyone came to see us. Then the waitress came, holding two glasses of water (no trays available?) that she deposited on the table not noticing it spilling. Her apron was filthy, she smelled of cigarette smoke. My husband and I went yesterday and we had some really great food! The onion soup is out of this world delicious. It made the whole meat that much better. I had the Santa Fe chicken, and the taste was great. The veggies were a little on the bland side. However, the potatoes had a nice garlic flavour which I liked. My husband said his mozzerella sticks were yummy, as was his pizza. It is a place that has quite a few options, so a lot of different tastes can be met. The only reason it's not five stars is because the service can be a little bit slow, even if it's not super busy.

Breakfast was very ordinary. Took us 15 minutes to get glass of water. Waffle was dry, tasteless and uneatable. Banquettes are small and made for slim people. We will not be returning for breakfast. UPDATE Gave this place a second chance but for dinner take-out this time. Warning, they do not take phone ahead orders. It took 15 minutes before getting the menu by a "why are you wasting my time" employee and 30+ before getting our order. Aggravated by the service and time waiting, we did not double check our order in the bag Needless to say that an item we paid for was missing. Also, the onion rings were placed in a poutine container which made them soggy and uneatable. The only good thing about this place is the location and the food.

I've only had 2 breakfasts here and both times I thoroughly enjoyed the service as well as my eggs benedict, some of the other plates I saw coming out of the kitchen made me want to come back and try them as well, keep up the good work!

I enjoy the smoked meat, the poutine, and of course the smoked meat poutine. The fries are made with thin-cut red potatoes, which I find to be a delicious change from the norm, and the gravy has a lot of flavor.

Definitely not a breakfast place. Potatoes could really use some sort of seasoning. Cafe au lait was dissapointing. Pancakes were delicious. I definitely need to come back for lunch or dinner because i am guessing that is more the specialty for a deli.

My experience tonight turned out awesome . Kudos to the manager Dimitri!!! I left my Galaxy tablet at the outside tables, and Dimitri went the extra step to find my tablet. Thank God , for some honest people in this world. BTW, the waitress did a great job as well. Thanks for the help.

Average diner ambiance, good prices on brouchette (bbq) special menu, ordered pork plate, pork was a little chewy, but it was a good portion. Good place to get lunch.
