What a beautiful supermarket. Very clean, amazing quality in produce, shelves fully stocked and neatly placed (all labels facing front) very polite staff. The nut and cheese counters offer a huge selection to satisfy your needs. Both Adonis stores in the Ottawa/Gatineau set an example of how the grocery stores should be. Other grocery stores should adopt their business model.

This is the place to go if you think wearing your mask is optional, they don't have mandates here. Today was packed and some woman was walking around without a mask. As far as I could tell, I was the only one who bothered telling her she should be wearing one. The manager on the floor said nothing about it to her and I watched her go through the cash without so much as a single protest or request to wear a mask.

Great place with a great variety of food and helpful staff. The store was busy but I didn't have to wait long for anything. It seems that the staff are getting into the flow. The cheese/olive/deli bar will allow you to sample anything you like before purchasing which makes the experience that much better. Pastry--my favourite part of the store! Tried maamoul (pistachio & dates), and Ashta squares and they were all EXCELLENT. Samboosik--these are meat filled pockets and they were really good. Roasted chicken--unfortunately that was my least favorite because it lacked flavour. Fruits/veg--very good display and excellent variety. Prices--somethings are cheaper than other grocery stores and some things are more expensive, but that's everywhere you go. I'd definitely go back and would recommend it.

Nasty, today at around 1pm, went ot go pick up some roasted green peas in the bulk nut scooping area, Mr. Scooper scoops my green peas, then with his bare hands picks up a run away green peas or some other fluff on the counter and throws it in to my bag of peas, nasty. IM NEVER BUYING FRUITS FROM THIS STORE EVER AGAIN. I always bought fruits from farm boy but decided to give this store a try. I GOT SICK. The mangos taste like plastic. The mangos looked good on the outside (i know how to pick good mangos) on the inside it was PURE BROWN/BLACK. As im writing this, my stomach is hurting.

Many expired items remain on the shelves. I work nearby and often pop in to grab something quick to eat. From bread, to crackers, various pies, even some produce. Terrifying how often I have to check the expiration dates before buying anything. Just today, I went and bought tortilla bread, and to my surprise. It was expired by well over a week. Other than that, great store.

I don’t usually venture out to this part of Gatineau because living in Aylmer I tend to go to The Plateau area to shop. I was needing to shop here so it brought me to this end of town. I discovered Adonis grocery store and it was a nice experience. They have an abundance of ethnic products in particular for me I was ecstatic to discover that they had various Greek cheeses that you really can’t get anywhere else. I will certainly return for this reason alone! Everything else was great too! ????????

Watch out the freshness of the cooked and uncooked food! If you get the bottom of the filet mignon pile or chicken thighs, they've gone bad! Flies in the sweet section, had to refuse a sweet as flies touched it. Prepared food was mispriced and I got reimbursed. But at latest visit, no one was at the Sweet section, I went and grabbed random employee and he came back with me and served me! I'll go back but will be very vigilant!!

Excellent shop. Avoid the fruit drinks they serve next to the pastries, it's not that good. They also don't have any lardons. Aside from that, great selection of French products from France. Great place with huge variety of ethnic (mostly middle eastern) foods. The pita and barbari breads I just bought are so fresh there is still steam in the bags. Tuesday must be a bread delivery day! Adonis is a favorite for more exotic foods originating from the Montreal area. The first store opened quite a few years ago and it has not stopped expanding since. It's great to see one in the Ottawa area, and the store is a full size store offering all of the same great fruits and vegetables as well as specialty food items as the stores in Montreal.

I expected to find fresh and beautiful produce, high quality meats and a tempting olive bar and a large bakery... Unfortunately, this is not at all what I was met with. Not worth the detour. Employees seems really confused and inexperienced. Some of them are just walking around the store and doing nothing. Butchers doesn't know what they're doing and they don't know their own products name. There is that lady yelling all the numbers as if we will have enough time to get all there in 2 seconds. The foods quality and freshness was amazing for the first week and half then they cared less. When we got to the cashier all the baggers were busy with other customers and so we waited for a minute to see if someone was going to do it. The employee at the cashier looked at us as if we did something wrong and it very felt unpleasant, we ended up bagging our own items. I have been a customer to Adonis in Montreal for around 15 years now and I have always left the store with a smile on my face and this is the only reason I give a 3 stars to the Gatineau's location because it really doesn't deserve it. It's such a shame that a few minor issues can really change ones whole experience. Hopefully it will get better!

We go to this store regularly several times a month. Today I've bought 2 chickens and milk. At the cash I decided to spoil myself a bit and took a bar of nougat which turned out to be very not-fresh with the specific smell of an old produce.

Their ready-to-eat food are delicious and the prepared meats too. Pastries not so much. Prizes of the dry goods are higher than your usual grocery stores like Maxi, Super C. Plus Adonis doesn't carry any generic brands similar to no name brands, selection or great value so there's not much options for buyers. Some cashiers are not trained to be courteous most especially the cashier named Donia B. She has a terrible customer service. Everytime I come to her cash, she's always in a bad mood. No greetings, no thank yous, nothing. Hope by this review, management will train her to have a better rapport with the customers.

Do not trust the ‘halal’ meat there. I asked the meat dept employee if the ground beef in the display case was halal and he said, “Well we mix both non-halal and halal together and so basically yes, it’s halal”. They have a good low price markdown section of still very good things. The only issue is that sometimes the prices are overly high. Just visited Adonis Supermarket in Gatineau for the first time. Awesome! First of all the smell... this store smells like food!!! How appropriate. Large and open, with lot's of light and lot's of fresh fruits and vegetables on display. And the selection of products is very interesting - specialty items from all over the world that would be hard to find elsewhere, with a strong emphasis on Mediterranean and Middle Eastern products. Sea salt from Sevilla, fresh almonds in the shell, 3 dozen kinds of Feta Cheese, and a whole counter of spiced olives. And the in-store bakery - Wow - just finished off a box of fresh Baklava that was the best I've ever had. Some reviews made negative comments about the staff, but this was not our experience. Yes, many staff were new (trainee badges) and are obviously from different ethnic backgrounds, so there might be some language issues, but I like this approach and everyone was friendly and helpful. Will be going back soon to continue exploring.

Love this chain, the food is so good but maybe they should hire some new employees (at this location) as some are really rude and don't enjoy doing thier job. One of them kept yelling at me because I parked on the side of the entrance to assist my grandma bring the gorceries in the car. The cart boys were really rude as I had left my cart next to them thinking they would take it (because usually other stores do take it), instead the man working just kept yelling at me in French. I went another day to the food Court, the lady at the checkout counter did not pay attention to me and notice me or the others slowly lining up, 5+ minute's passed till we got served, the worse part is she expected a tip, she was taking her sweet time getting to cash even though I saw her look my way, was not impressed with thier service at the new location.

My girlfriend made my discover this grocery stores chain and we now go there regularly. They have a large selection of deli products, meats (including marinated types) and desserts/pastries. Great choice of fresh produce, fruits and regular canned items. Very clean and modern-looking store, friendly staff. Highly recommended if you don't know it! Note: I discovered since there is also an Adonis nearby where I leave in Mississauga. Will check it out soon.

When you enter this place , it smells really good ! Makes you hungry and a smart tactic to make customers buy more food. Customer service at food stations is amazing. Even though the BBQ Chicken is not the best in my opinion , their garlic sauce is the best garlic sauce ever. Adonis is one of the four or five area grocery stores we shop regularly. It's unique on the Gatineau side of the Ottawa River in the offered variety of middle eastern specialty foods. There are often good deals on produce. Today though, all the salad greens looked a bit wilted. That can be the case at any store, but today we had to make another stop to get the salad greens. Service is good, but we skipped one counter because the store was too busy. The grocery business seems to be very competitive in Gatineau, and the addition of Adonis has made it even more so.

When they moved to new location they should have replaced all cashiers. The customer service is non-existent, especially with cashiers, rude, no curtesy. Many good items that you can't find at other grocery stores... But everytime I go here I will find mistakes on my bill. For example, tonight I picked up a new kind of cookie to try because it's on sale, but when I checked the bill I see they charged me the full price. Mistakes like this happen everytime I go here, so definitely check that you are getting the right price. Also, check the expiry dates: I always find things that are close to expiry, things like crackers that are a week away from being expired.

Yesterday at the new Sources location, for the first time I purchased a variety of deserts from the desert counter. Boy what an injustice. Deserts looked absolutely to die for, but DON'T BE FOOLED. I chose a variety of about 10 different deserts -ALL of which tasted like they were old aged. No taste whatsoever. Very disappointing especially since I purchased $30 worth. NEVER AGAIN!!

Great variety of Mediterranean and international foods and goods you won't find anywhere else! Also, the deli doing the whole 3 walls of the store offers awesome stuff made there. Finally, I'd like to add that despite being a specialized grocer, they also hold all the major brands of foods so you don't have to stop to Maxi or IGA for your craft IPA beers or your Kraft Peanut Butter. Love this place!

I am disappointed with baklawa quality. I purchased over two kilos for a large gathering (funeral) as it's customary in the middle East. The service staff was very friendly and told me that they bring it from Montreal fresh. Unfortunately the nuts were old / stale and the quality of the oil was bad and tasted old. They should not sell this old baklawa. The store lost my trust. I can't say about the other departments in the store if they are good or bad.

The new Adonis is scamming you. The quality diminished after the Metro acquisition, but they really lost their authentic Mediterranean core after the move. The meat counter staff doesn't care, and gives you the worst tiniest (1 in) pieces, God forbid you complain. Overpriced products, no more vast choices of lots of little gems from all over the world, became too generic and mainstream. Because they serve pork now, their best employees left, so only incompetent creeps remain. We are not shopping here nearly as much.

Went twice to this location and will never return. Service was better than the first time I went which was 10 days after opening, but this store is a disappointment overall. Everything savory they make under their Adonis brand or the take-out is WAY TOO salty. Beef Shawarma was INEDIBLE so much it tasted like brine. Two items scanned higher at checkout, but the cause was misplacement on the shelves. Lots of missing prices too, you have to find a price checker. Shelf items are expensive if not on sale. Not one employee greeted me or more telling, had a smile on their face. I remember their stores in Montreal and Laval being better, but that was before Metro bought them.

People avoid going to Adonis in DDO. It is a disaster, the store has bad customer service and very poor managent . I called Adonis in DDO in a working hour , after many attempts someone answer and I asked her if they have Atlantic saumon ? After few minutes she checked it out and said yes. I went to the store after ten min and the fish department manager said we didn’t receive it today.when I asked for the manger everyone completely disappeared in front of me. So my point is they lied because they want you to go to the store and do impulse shopping. scam alert for this store.

Poor service, employees seem unhappy and it feels like contempt towards customers is the norm. - Cashier chitchatting at the cash while I wait holding heavy items, only to be met with disdain when I finally catch their attention - Waited 15 minutes to be served while there are 6 employees behind the meat counter and only 3 customers waiting - You take a number and wait patiently only to see someone walk in, chat with the person behind the deli counter and get served before others with a number in hand - No garlic sauce included with the flat chicken? Since, when? - Order Ghraybeh at the pastry counter, I get home to find all of them in the box are missing the signature piece of pistachio. Did someone have a craving for pistachios? :P The new store is bigger, cleaner, brighter and more modern. Used to be a regular at the old location, it's just a shame the quality of service has gone downhill.

Be careful. They don't have exchanges & return policy for fruits & vegetables. Maybe even for regular products as well. ABSOLUTELY NO INFORMATION ON RECEIPT AND WEBSITE !!! I bought 2 big watermelons that cost around 20$ each on Friday. We cut one on Saturday and it was tasteless, more like grass, not sweet and juicy. I wanted to return 2nd watermelon on Monday and the cashier with the supervisor both told me they can't take it because 48hours have passed since the purchase. I messaged the head office and no answer for 5 days. BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I have been shopping at Adonis for years but I feel that the problem I had today happens often now and it is really frustrating. I tried to get the floor manager three times but was disconnected so maybe they will see this review and remedy the problem. I did not have a large order but I went there specifically for the tandori chicken and red peppers and at the checkout before I could finish packing my bags the other customer’s groceries were being checked so in my rush to get it all in the bag I left the red pepper behind. This is so frustrating and it happens often…either get people to bag the groceries or give the customer time to get their bags packed and out of the check out.You feel very rushed at the cash and it ends up with a very dissatisfied and frustrated customer.

We have had only very good experiences shopping at this amazing specialty grocery store. It has a huge parking lot and inside there is a fabulous selection in each of the departments they specialize in. The prices on items bought in bulk are very good. I love the huge array of nuts, pickles, cheeses, cold cuts, marinated chicken breasts (the best shish taouk!), meats, fish, seafood, baklava and other desserts, hummus and sauces (the best garlic sauce!), all kinds of pre made salads, take it and more. When the store is busy, they use a number system for service. If there aren't a lot of people, they just serve you right away, no number necessary. The staff we've been served by were all polite and competent. Now that we have discovered Adonis we will continue to shop there as often as possible for all of our favorite Lebanese style specialty foods.

Meat department won’t cut to customers request. “We are here to serve you” isn’t a policy they should post on their counters. More like “take it or leave it” is the experience I keep having at the meat section. Management! Cashiers on more than one occasion have charged more than needed. Take heed - Go home and verify your bill. It has happened more than once, at first I thought it was an oversight but a trend is not an oversight. Quality and experience have changed at this Adonis, since their acquisition with Metro. Colleagues and friends can attest. I miss the old Adonis.

We bought what was supposed to be a fresh fish from their seafood section in the rear of the store. Brought it home, seasoned and baked it. We took one bite and all had to spit it out. The entire thing went in the trash. It had a horrible metallic taste which is a sign that it was not properly stored. It cost us nearly $30 for that god awful fish. Never again.
