SO SAD KALENS WAS GONE!! I have heard great things about Ed's so figured I would give it a try in Kalens absence. Will never go Back. After spending 10 minutes figuring out what I wanted, when I went to order the lady advises me that they did not have most of what I was about to order. I was the only one there with the exception of the couple eating outside, one would have thought she would have told me what they run out of instead of standing there waiting until I placed me order. Simply because of this service, I won't be Back. I hear Kalens is working on getting a new spot.... Thank goodness!!! RESPONSE TO OWNER: I was actually not referring to yesterday. This about 3 weeks ago but I just got around to writing the review. And being out of food because you are busy, is one thing. Your cashier standing there and not saying a word for a good 10 minutes, is what the problem was. Sorry, but there is no excuse for that. She should have greeted me when I came in the door, or a smile at the least, and immidiately informed me of what was not available to order. Simply unacceptable.

Good prices (not expensive and huge portions) but most food is deep fried. We had the scallops, a little be over done but you can still taste the freshness.

Called ahead and ordered takeout of fried fresh fish feast for a family of four. $100 after tip for clams, bacon wrapped scallops, haddock bits and fries, lobster rolls and fries, a large fry, 2 pops, and tub of cole slaw. The seafood was as fresh as we had hoped, the tartar was homemade, and the slaw was vinegar based (a family fave). Portions were large and we decided to save the rolls for a late night treat after a few glasses of wine when the kods had gotten to bed. Staff was friendly, facility was clean, and when we arrived 20min early, they bumped up our order to finish sooner. The staff and food earned the 15% tip.

Looks can be deceiving. There are certainly fancier places to eat in the area but there is a reason why the locals go here. The fish is fresh and tasty, the staff are pleasant. We have eaten here 3 or 4 times and the food is always good and the prices are always very reasonable. We will be back again!

We paid $40 for a seafood platter and a poutine with 8 clams more batter then fish and 6 over cooked burnt scallops. With a small handful of under cooked onion rings. Don't recommen. We went to Macdonald's to get a fillet a fish much better.

Came to Digby with my family on vacation!! Ed’s take out was recommended by family members that know the place very well, even has a family member who owns the restaurant, shout out to Brendan! You’re absolutely amazing and it was such a pleasure meeting you! Haven’t tried everything on the menu yet, but the scallops, fish and chips, Cold lobster roll, fish burger and hamburger are just incredibly flavourful and fresh! 5 stars easily! The staff is super friendly and the food is amazing, exceeded all expectations! Highly highly recommend, you won’t be let down!

We thought we would give Ed's another chance tonight. You cant always go with first impressions with new cooks. Well the burgers were over cooked , One burger came with proper toppings the other didn't. I believe they must have been running out of ketchup for the burger. The fries were undercooked not even a tinge of brown. And No they were not busy.

My wife and I visited Ed's a few days ago for the first and only time. The person serving us could not operate the cash very well but more importantly, the burger was under cooked and did not have the topping requested and the fish was also under cooked and not the fish we had ordered. As they say, you only have one first impression and because things were so far from good this first impression will not have us returning!

Awesome! We went on a scallop run this summer while visiting Digby. We tried a few different places, and Ed's is definitely a favorite. The staff are super-friendly. We tried the fish and chips and the scallops. The food is fresh and delicious, and the portions are very generous. There are a few options, all in close proximity, so I recommend trying them all for yourself.

Tasty and affordable Digby Scallops. The service and staff were terrific. We ordered a small meal of scallops and clams due to seasickness from whale watching, but the chef offered us another meal on the house. They also gave juice boxes to kids. I will highly recommend it to anyone visiting Digby. My only suggestion is to also add pan-fried and non-battered options to the menu.

We drive over an hour to eat here and haven't been able to find a place even close to this quality anywhere around Nova Scotia. Ed's grandson and girlfriend know their way around this kitchen and take extra care to make sure that your fish is crispy, the clams aren't soggy and the scallops have a crisp bite to them. I swear they've spent years perfecting this fry and it shows. I'll also never forget one time we showed up 5 minutes to close and they treated us with so much respect and cooked everything we asked. True professionals and ???? worth a stop.

I stopped because the sign said "World Famous Fish". All I can say is I should have listened to the sign. The lobster roll was the worst I've ever had. Someone thought it was a good idea to slather that lovely lobster with mass produced tarter sauce and then put dill and paprika on it. The bun was not toasted with butter and was a cheap sausage style bun from Sobeys. I will say that the service was good and the fries were excellent. No bathroom though which was weird, instead the waitress was telling people to go to a gas station up the road.

We don't often go to Digby, it is a lonnggg drive. Last time we ate at the Shoreline Restaurant, it must be still excellent judging by the line up. We had to look somewhere else to eat and found 'Ed'sTakeout'. A lovely surprise from a very unassuming looking place. John wanted just handcut fries and I needed some scallops so we compromised on scallops AND fries..They both were awesome.The Digby scallops are truly so delicious..Staff delivers to your car, she was also very sweet. Note to self: next summer more time in Digby.

Great food and friendly service. Beer batter seafood that is incredible and fresh. The fresh seafood is delivered in the mornings to the restaurant so it tastes great every time. The female chef is extra accommodating to splitting meals for kids in separate containers and serving us a full menu close to their closing! Very grateful for her awesome attitude and attention to detail. This level of customer service is rare. The owners should be proud to employ her!!!

We went here on recommendation from a local. I am now assuming the guy maybe was related to the owner because I can't understand why anyone would reccomend this place. First, it's not the most visually appealing place, but I have learned not to judge a book by it cover. In this case, maybe I should have. The windows were dirty, the tables were greasy. The deep fried clams were small and possibly burnt. It was a huge disappointment since all we wanted were some world famous deep fried whole Digby clams... Service was good. The lady at the counter was nice, not the most friendly, but nice. Anyhow, don't go. I am sure there are much better places.

Came into Digby on ferry from Saint John in late afternoon and did not want to go to downtown because we were headed across Nova Scotia. Came across Ed's and very glad we stopped in (especially since there were few choices once we drove into the interior). Although it is takeout there are 4-5 small tables inside and several picnic tables outside. While we were waiting to be served there was a steady stream of locals coming in who knew the cooks by first name so that spoke well of the place. Since "Digby scallops" were frequently referenced on numerous New Brunswick menus we figured we ought to try them since we were actually in Digby. Glad we did. They were delicious as were the accompanying tartar sauce and coleslaw. The fries were good, too.

The restaurant had a renovation since we were there. It looked very cute and clean. Our waitress was very nice too. We ordered our usual, lg. scallops & fries and a sm. clams & fries. There was a significant rise in price for both from our last trip there, but we were surprised at the much smaller servings too. The clams were about one small handfull and the lg. scallops had 6 scallops on the plate. Despite being extremely greasy they still tasted good. We were disappointed but we're hoping this was just a bad day. We might give it another try next time we drive by. If no improvement that's it.
