Besides the fresh seafood and the awesome decor, @sharkeyladner also has a beautiful patio! This place is great for family and friends to catch up!

My wife really enjoyed the prawn and veggies with rice. But I think the halibut and chips can use some work. Instead of batter they use a bread crumb which is just ok... I ordered a two piece. One piece was normal size while the second was nearly half the size and the halibut was dry. I don't think that I'll make the trip again unless my wife really wants it, and I'll just try something else.

Great vegan options! They have the beyond beef burger on the menu, though they had been unable to order any when we went. However, the veggie burger patty is also vegan. They also have vegan mayo! Most of the salad dressings are also vegan and the fries are fantastic. Good portions. Great patio with a great view. Couple minor mistakes in the order, but overall would definitely return the next time we are in ladner ????

Not fancy. Barely nice. The staff is super young and more interested in hanging out with eachother than service. Limited drink menu. Not sure if they have a bar tender or just no ingredients. I'm having trouble finding a nice pub in Ladner, unfortunately. But please try for yourself.

After a walk at Alaksen regional park, i came here for a late lunch! I ordered the Ladner Express bollabaise. It was good. Service wise, its good. Good ambiance, although it looks like a neighborhood pub, but it was a good ambiance and good menu. Will come back for more!

Ive been going to Sharkey's for about 6 years. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. And in the summer they have an amazing deck. Ive tried quite a few things on the menu and have never been disappointed, but the Salmon Neptune (That I had tonight) is probably my fav. Go. You wont be disappointed.

We really enjoy fish and chips and had high hopes for the $71 order of 2 X 2 piece halibut & Chips plus an extra pieces of fish. It was however extremely disappointing! We could have done better by picking up frozen fish sticks and fries at the grocery store and nuked the in the micro! The fish was dry and flavourless and seemed like it was fried a long time ago, frozen and re-heated. It was only palatable with the additional tartar sauce. The fries went straight into the composting bin and we cooked rice to go with instead. Not sure if their regular cooks quit during COVID or if this is the expected standard!?!? Regardless, we’ll never return. One just don’t serve food like that no matter what the situation may be. We should have made the 20 minute detour to Pajo’s instead! The second of the 2 stars is giving them the benefit of the doubt that their other meals are better.

A local neighborhood pub which offers fantastic service and friendly staff. The portions are truly massive. Nobody in our group of 8 came close to finishing their meals! Prices are more than fair. Bartender had no issue replacing someone's alcoholic drink which they mistakenly ordered thinking it was something else. Children are welcome.

Great food. The battered coconut prawns are to die for. But like another reviewer said the focus of this restaurant is on the quality of the food, not speed. You won't have a waiter at your table every 5 minutes to ask you if you need anything else, so they can rush you out the door faster. They have a great outdoor patio for relaxing and enjoying the view of the river. They get quite busy at times, so you may have to wait a while to get a table.

horribly bland food ...rude service...very high prices...flies everywhere and staff are ignorant and when asked 3 times for lemon for water finally came and literally threw it on the table while walking by. Place was nearly dead only a few people on the patio and a bunch of staff standing around. Made us ask twice for our bill and then made us wait 15 min. Save yourself the waste of money and find a different restaurant.

This place is a Ladner institution. And its older than many institutions, but in this case that's good! But first, let's clear something up. DO NOT come here if you're in a hurry! This is not a place for a quick bite. Sharkey's is a place where you come to mellow out. Enjoy the warm atmosphere in your creaky, vintage chair. Its dark, old, and fantastic! The food is good and the prices fair. The staff are very friendly, but the emphasis is on quality of service, not speed of service. The beer prices are good, and the patio on the river is an amazing place to lounge on a summer evening. So, if you have some time and want to savour an experience, this is the quintessential Ladner experience. Slow, friendly, fun, laid-back. :)

I was very impressed with how many gluten free options they offered. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu, and what was safe for Celiac's to eat. I had the calamari, and caesar salad. The meal was absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere is what you would expect of a typical bar. Prices are very reasonable, and the portion was huge. The staff were wonderful, and very friendly. I would love to see them carry a gluten free beer option. I will certainly be dining with them again, and I look forward to it!

Four of us had different dishes...steak, sockeye burger, cod sandwich, clam in white wine sauce. All found each food delicious. I did wish there were a few more clams and a means of soaking up more of the wonderful sauce...I am a relatively big eater though. Service was friendly and attentive. Parking was a bit confusing but, it worked out when I parked at the only gravel spot in their parking lot. My parents and I were seated right away and started off with some beverages as well as an order of calamari. It was pretty good but, felt a little small. For my main, I went with the Fresh Steelhead meal off the chef’s special menu with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. No regrets with that choice. The blueberry sauce that comes with it compliments the fish very nicely. Although, I should’ve gone for a glass of white or red wine instead of the 16 ounce beer on tap I had gotten. There was nothing wrong with the beer, I just feel like I would’ve gotten a different experience had I gone with a good glass of wine. Staff was very friendly and our server came at timely intervals to check up on us. All in all, very great service. I will definitely come back again.

Went to Sharkey's on a limb. Sat on the patio. The view on a small branch of the Fraser River was not very spectacular. Drinks were well served. I ordered the seafood penne with chipotle sauce and my partner ordered the poached cod. My penne sauce was on the sweet side but sort of expected being a chipotle sauce. Lacking that smokiness flavour though. The poached cod lacked seasoning. The food was not bad but did not wowed us. Same goes with the service. OK place. I will not go out of my way to go here but do not mind stopping here again.

Another great stop to add to my Christmas experience/experiment for shopping and eating locally this year - is Sharkeys! Down by the river in Ladner. After doing some Christmas shopping at Open Space Yoga's annual fund raiser for the hospice, my Renaissance friend, Lisa, and I set off for lunch. After some discussion on where to go, we decided on Sharkeys,. They've been around a long time and has always been the good go-to place for lunch or dinner in the summer. For whatever reason, I don't think of Sharkeys as often in the fall/winter. What a delightful decision we made! It was early afternoon so we thought we had missed the busy lunch crowd. Boy were we wrong! It was packed! It was filled with laughter, combinations of family, friends, dates etc. All enjoying a Saturday lunch, late lunch or early dinner. It felt good. The staff that greeted us at the door were friendly and welcomed us but told us it would be up to a 30 minute wait time for our food, but was excited to seat us, and to keep us in wine until our meal came. Lol. We were in! Lisa and I both commented on the fact that he told us up front that there would be a wait, but come on in! The service was great! We didn't even notice the time. We were in no hurry and we were just looking forward to catching up before the busy season was upon us. The food was great. We joked with our server that it was Lisa's birthday lunch (her birthday was in September and I forgot????) and Lisa said it was my birthday lunch (mine was in October????) so she brought us a beautiful piece of delicious cake for us to share. How sweet is that? Eat local. You'll be glad you did.

We were disappointed. The halibut was dry and overcooked. For one of the only times in my life, I mentioned it to the staff, and she quickly said they would replace both of our fish. The second one was marginally better but my husband's was not. The fries were also dry and over cooked. The service was good, the staff were friendly but the meal also took nearly 25 minutes to come after ordering as well. We have been before when the meal also took awhile but this experience is enough for us.

This place gets an extra star for the great location on the water and the neat atmosphere inside. The service is always great. Unfortunately Sharkey's food is not so great. The halibut and chips is always overcooked; halibut should not be dry. I always get halibut, but here I get cod instead (which is good). I have also had the Shanghai Seafood bowl; it was ok but the black bean sauce isn't nearly as good as what you would get at a chinese takeout place.

First visit to Sharkey's Seafood Bar & Grille. The fish soup was good and the fish for the fish n' chips was very good. The fries tasted like they were cooked, earlier in the day. The place was busy and the staff were nice. One problem with using a credit card on the patio, everyone had to stand in a line near other tables with people eating and in a main traffic path. Not comfortable for many customers.

This is one of our favorite late Sunday brunch spots about 30 min south of home. About the same time as going downtown but sitting in a cul-de-sac by the fish boats on the wharf is a much better setting

This is probably my favourite place to go and eat at in Ladner. The fish and chips are excellent and the poutine is some of the best around! The cooks are always looking clean and the servers always polite and not "Over the top". You can tell it is a very well managed restaurant. PS! Burger was a bit sloppy but that was my fault for getting guacamole so less is more. Deserts tasted great and even got some to go. Went to Sharkey's to escape the heat, not knowing that they don't have air conditioning. That was a surprise, however the service was good and the server was quick to replenish our water. Had an amazing burger with a huge pile of fries, was very impressed with the flavors of the burger. Besides it being extremely hot in the restaurant, their food was very good. Will be back when it's a little cooler.

Nice little spot in Ladner along Deas slough.Spacious with lots of outdoor patio seating. The menu options are geared towards sea food mostly but offer some turf options as well. I ordered the grilled salmon, it was presented well but I found it somewhat dry. Others in my party ordered the steak which was somewhat over cooked and another ordered the mussels which were alright. The service was good and efficient and the servers were friendly. I would say try it out and check out some of the other menu options. The location is great and the patio is really nice and there is a lot of parking available.

Food was unusually tasty and service was good. Sports bar with TVs and tables, many different wines available by the glass/half litre/litre. Nice location by the river. I had a crab and shrimp salad with wasabi dressing that was really delicious and my fellow-diners had an Asian noodle seafood dish that they really enjoyed.

This place is the best. Consistent good fresh food & excellent service. The bartenders are true mixologists. They also have a great vegan burger on the menu (I'm not vegan but it was delicious) and their veggie burger is one of the best I've ever had (I'm not vegetarian either so I get it with bacon). Massively disappointed! Having frequented this restaurant many times before and always found the food at a 5 star level, yesterday lunchtime the food was so poor I question wether we will ever be returning anytime soon. My wife ordered the "special" (Cream of broccoli soup and chicken fajita). The soup had a lump of some sort of white "mystery-meat" in it and the fajita was absolutely dripping in grease, filled with about 95% shredded peppers and almost no chicken. I had the 2 piece cod & chips. The fish fillets were pretty thin and undistinguishable as pacific cod. (might have even been imported Vietnamese tilapia for all I know). The outside of the panko batter was crispy enough but once you cut into it it was nothing but soggy mush below that crispy surface, as was the watery, undercooked fish inside that. The fries appeared to have been immersed in the deep fryer numerous times as they were over-crisp and greasy. On numerous occasions in the past I have taken groups of retired colleagues and also had celebratory get-to-gethers at this establishment and never been disappointed with the food but I sure was this time. I can only hope that this was perhaps just a "Covid" off day! The server was pleasant and thus the 2 star instead of just 1. $42.50 wasted!!

Perfect experience, not only was it one of the best meals we ever had but super friendly staff. The perfect amount of attention paid to us, the server was there when we needed her but not bothering us in anyway or hovering or anything. The pasta I had was one of the best pastas I've ever had and the portion was huge for the price with lots of meat. My wife and mother in law had the halibut sandwich and they said it was perfect as well. It is now our tradition, we will be back whenever go to the bird sanctuary. Thank you to the servers and the kitchen staff for such a wonderful experience.

The service was excellent and the waitress was lovely. The restaurant itself is a dump, needs a total makeover! Wires stapled everywhere on the ceiling, needs major paint job. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Called for take out. Told me 45 minute wait because they were busy. Picked up food at 45 mins on the dot. Drove 2 mins to house and discovered food was ice cold. Fries were really oily and soggy and cold. Fish was barely warm and over cooked. Also gave us about half the amount of fries that we normally get when eating in the restaurant previously. Seems like food was probably sitting for at latest 25 mins before the time we were told to come. Really disappointed. Not worth the $40 at all. Probably won't be going back after this.

Very good meal. Upgraded my soup to the Boston clam chowder, definitely worth the extra few dollars. Halibut sandwich was also very good, a little plain but cooked well and served on a fresh bun. My only suggestion for improvement would be faster service at lunchtime. Our lunch was served fairly quickly but we were abandoned for a while after that. Had to track down our waiter to give us our bill at the end of the meal.

We were in this restaurant about 20 years ago on my in-laws visit ..and it was so memorable that it came to conversations many times...and we just were buying some seeds across the street when we saw it and we decided to have a late lunch there. What a pleasant surprise was to see that it is still such a fantastic restaurant to eat. The food is super fresh and full of flavour! The service is nothing but exceptional..and the place is charming and super clean and cosy. We had the clams by the pound like we did 20 years ago...and...still as good as then. The chowder is amazing and portions are quite generous. I had beer and their selección is very good with some items that you can only drink there. I highly recommend this place. I know that is far away from most Metro Vancouver but..it worth the drive. We will come back for sure.

I walked into Sharkeys on a Tuesday afternoon around 2 PM. The place was almost empty, we stood at the front to wait to be seated while we watched 3 co workers chatting at the bar. When they finally noticed us they said we could pick where we wanted, fire place it was. 5 minutes later, an awkward girl came over and dropped us water, we asked for drinks and wanted to order but she told us in barely a whisper that she wasnt the server. After few minutes the server came up and we order, she was polite enough. As we sat and waiting for our food I couldn't help notice a giant cobweb hanging from the picture over the fire place, one side was no longer attached to the shingles ok the fake rooftop across from it, so it was dangling down over a patron's head. 10 minutes passed, no food, there were only 3 other tables in the resturaunt and one of them was only having drinks. The Male server obviously knew them as he sat there talking to them for most of our visit. I noticed a fly that is buzzed around my head and then my fathers head and then back to me. Great. 25 minutes later our food comes out. Hot, perfect. My dads tartar sauce is hot obviously sat under the heat lamp for a while. Gross. My chicken burger is extremely hot, and greasy. I dont think they took it out of the deep fryer and it it right on the bun. Noticed theres not a single fork on our table. Wait for those to show up. The food was alright, it wasnt great but it wasnt horrible. We had to leave to pick up my daughter from school. I sat there for 3 minutes waving my hand in the air at the bar, the girl saw me but didnt say anything. So I went up and asked for the bill. Of course as we are paying the waitress gets chatty to fatten her tip, highly unlikely at this point. Not impressed, I can see why their other resturaunt closed down and wasnt successful.

We have eaten here several times pre pandemic and have enjoyed it. Our typical bill with food and drinks for two ran to approximately $90. We also have taken family and friends out to dinner with us here as there are options for everyone, meat eater or vegetarian/ vegan. We try and follow a plant based diet for ethical and health reasons but sometimes we enjoy going out for a beyond burger and fries. Sharkeys, while a bit overpriced, fills the craving. We decided to eat there this evening and were pleased to be greeted with a sign that said it was two for one burger night! The sign did not mention any exceptions. When we went to order, we were told that we could only order one beyond burger and any of the other burgers. The second 'free' burger couldn’t be another beyond burger because they are 'expensive'. We offered to pay an up charge but no, we could only have them at full price. We spoke with the manager on duty and he informed us that the owner makes no money on them, they are a loss leader, and are on the menu only because they are trendy. I was offended by that comment but also fail to see the logic. I don’t know what your supplier is charging you but I can purchase 8 beyond burgers at costco for twenty dollars, an average of $2.50 a burger, and that’s not wholesale. Considering that it’s 20.00 on your menu for a beyond burger and fries and that French fries are cheap, I don’t think it would have broken your restaurant to have offered , at the very least, a discount to two seniors out on a date night. We will be spending our dollars elsewhere and most definitely won’t be back. July7, 2021

Arrived on a Monday evening around 6:15 to a line- up! Monday night is 2 for 1 cod fish and chips. We were seated in about 5 minutes. We ordered a meal size Caesar salad to start. It was very good with the slightest hint of anchovy. For the main, we both ordered the halibut with blueberry sauce. My husband had rice and I ordered mashed potatoes. The halibut was cooked perfectly, moist and piping hot. My husband said the rice was a bit dry. My mashed potatoes were horrible! They were garlic mashed potatoes and the garlic was absolutely overwhelming. I love garlic and garlic mashed potatoes, but these were awful, bordering on acrid. I can't imagine they were intended to be the way they turned out. Both our meals were accompanied by julienned vegetables that were stir fried. The portion was huge; I imagine they must throw a lot of them out. I also found that the meal was overly-peppered. Perhaps on Mondays, fish and chips is the way to go . . .

Good lord, help me. We chose this little pub for its name and the little town of Ladner it's in. My wife wanted to go to a more established place about a mile away called The Landing Pub.... I sure wish we had. We were a little sceptical of it not being busy but we thought we'd stay anyway. BAD IDEA. It looked nice enough so we ordered the fish and chips because who can screw up fish and chips? OH. MY. GOD. Well... if you like Captain Highliner, this is the place for you! Absolutely Gross. When it came out in 6 minutes we were pretty scared. You know that pre-frozen, water logged boxed cod? Yup, it was horrible. How can a place like "Sharky's" SEAFOOD Bar & Grill NOT have fresh cod with a FRESH beer batter made every single day?! The tartar sauce was equally as bad. My wife didn't even eat hers. I couldn't believe it. The fries were a 5/10. We didn't even bother complaining, we just ate and left. Do yourself a favour... go to McDonalds and get a Filet-O-Fish. Much better!

Great seafood place in Ladner. All the dishes had were done well. The mussels had a great sauce. The penne pasta was nice and hot and the sauce was creamy. Had the beef and chorizo burger, which was pretty good. Fried calamari and fried shrimp were good choices for shared appies. It also had a patio, great for the summer.

If fortunate to get an outside patio seat the experience is wonderful under a warm sunny day. Inside the property is a bit dark and certainly not as attractive as photos suggest. It is just a bit tired at best. I am not sure what they are attempting here. Is it a bar? No. Is it a pub? No. Is it a grille? No. Although all three ingredients are hinted at none make the grade. The pub aspect is fine and acceptable. It is no real bar. Very little talent at the Bartender level. As a Grille. A few dishes excel but over all it is fairly pedestrian. This place could be HOT. I feel ownership struggles with identity and lacks the HR to fulfil great staff. A couple of servers are fantastic. Others it seems are just fillers with little or no training. I wish the place well but if the day is dull and rainy this would not be the first on my list of visits. Something is lacking but cannot put an exact handle on what it might me. The potential is exciting.

Disappointing, we have been coming here a couple of times a year for many years for Fish and Chips. Never had fish and Chips this bad ever, very thin and breaded but mushy inside, the fries were overdone with some hard and crunchy, the flavour seemed off. There was no coleslaw which used to come with it and the tarter sauce had a dark coloured skin over it in its container from obviously sitting around for an extended amount of time. Sitting here typing this my tummy does not feel happy and satisfied and I’m wondering if a bout of food poisoning is on its way, the price I pay for always eating everything. I was wondering if there are new owners or management or perhaps it’s the victim of Covid staff shortages, that Fish and Chip order was a Fail. Our group also had the pulled pork which they enjoyed or it would have been 1 Star, this restaurant no longer is on our go to list!????

Thought the fish and chips would be good coming from Sharkey's. 40. for two, two pieces, take out. Frozen fish pieces like out of a box. TASTLESS..CRUMBY BATTER. Very disappointed. No napkins, no cutlery. Would not recommend.

Visited Sharkey on July 3-2021 around 6.00 PM. It was an hour's drive two ways. The whole experience was a disaster. Ordered chicken wings and they looked terrible (white) as if it was just plucked from the chicken with salt & pepper sprinkled plus smell was gross. Returned the dish and the feed back from the server was wings were not properly cooked. Tried halibut and chips. Fish was hard and fries cold. It is beyond me how an establishment can serve uncooked dishes to their customers. Chef had no decency to come over and apologize. This is a serious health matter too. ( Plan to contact health authority on restaurant inspection since one review says that fish tasted like it was cooked in oil that had not been changed in a long time) Owners of this place need to be pro-active and read all the reviews and these reviews are not good for Sharkey. At this rate not many patrons will return. I will not be visiting this place anymore.

Really like this restaurant. Close to the water and in the summer has a large Outdoor patio. In the winter months a cozy fireplace. Good menu selections, from seafood to burgers. Prices are quite good.

Good selection of craft beer, go for a sampler paddle it's a great deal. The patio and river views are the best in the area. (they really should relocate the dumpster though, phew) If you get the right server it can be a very enjoyable experience and the management is great. A must visit if anyone is visiting Ladner when the weather is nice.

Came in a part of a big group of motorcycle riders. Everyone in the group enjoyed the meal. Great service. I had the veggie burger which was quite tasty. The people in the group that had the bison burgers really liked them. They were good about customizing some of our orders. I'd go back again if I were in the neighbourhood.

O.K maybe its just me but I have never had any luck in regards to Sharkey`s. I did a few family dinners there and things always got messed up. Hamburger is nothing to write home about as in the patty size was tiny dwarfed by a big bun and got the nachos and they forgot the sour cream and salsa another time and did not even notice.. Servers are good its just the food I find bad as well as the menu selection is weak

Came here like 35 years ago using a Entertainment Book Coupon. Owners great then. Had the Oysters and they were excellent. Been coming here since and now son running place and is also great. Food is always excellent and this spot is a Ladner classic. I moved to Ladner 10 years ago and this is one of my two favourite eateries here.

A varied menu with something for everyone. Very good service this Sunday evening. It did cost them 1 star as the French fries were ends. Small 1/4 to 1/2 inch pieces of potatoes. Not the best presentation for fries.

Always a family go to in Ladner. Recent updates to the menu much needed and well received. Very relaxed space, casual all the way. The deck is super popular in good weather, great place for a beverage with friends under the sun. Only critique is the interior is a bit dark and dated, nostalgic or tired is largely a matter of taste.

The girl working today, Dec 11 was the most unfriendly person I have encountered there. I definately knew I was interrupting her day. She made me feel that immediately.
