I have been going here for a couple of years and have always had a good experience. Today I had the misfortune of dealing with the owner. I purchased some plant food a few days ago. I accidentally purchased the wrong product. When I bought it the employee asked me if I wanted the receipt. I said I won't be returning this and declined the receipt. Today I wanted to exchange it for the correct one. They asked me for a receipt and I told them why I didn't have one. I was told I could not exchange it.I then asked to speak to someone else thinking that I was just dealing with an employee. The lady said I am the owner. You don't have a receipt so there is nothing I can do because it is our policy. I said since you are the owner can't you make an exception. I wasn't asking for my money back I just wanted to exchange it. She then told me that people are stealing stuff then try to bring it back. I said I didn't steal it and just wanted a simple exchange. She refused to exchange it and pointed to the return policy on the counter. I then told her I would never return. She said you are willing to stop shopping here over $20. I said you are willing to lose a customer over $20. All of the employees I have dealt with in the past have been outstanding. It's funny that the first time I deal with the owner I am treated horribly. This person has no idea how to deal with customers. She is stuck on policies and is unwilling to make exceptions.

Nice little pet shop but unfortunately I bought plants there 6 months ago and now have had black beard algae in my tank ever since. I wasn't knowledgeable as to what it was on the plants when I bought them there. Now I know and my whole tank is full of it. Been fighting it ever since and can't get rid of it. Flourish Excel doesn't even help. Argh.

Very helpful staff, went to rogers yesterday to buy fish medication but unfortunately the good ones are banned in canada. But the staff were very helpful and had knowlege of the hobby. So often nowadays staff at chain pet shops dont exactly always give the right advice, but the people i talked at rogers knew their stuff. Their fish tanks looked in prestine condition. I will definitely be back in future.

Came in to the shop to look at fish tanks after having gone elsewhere and having no one help or even approach asking if we wanted help. Walked over to the fish section of the store and a staff member cleaning the tanks asked if we needed help. Told her what we were looking for and she went on to give quite the information. Needless to say, we ended up buying our tank, stand and supplies from them. Went home set up the aquarium and went back today to buy more plants, Candace who originally helped out the 1st time was off today, we were approached by a young male, believe his name was Brandon was once again a very knowledgeable staff member and helped us out. We highly recommend this place for anyone who is thinking about getting a fish aquarium. Very excited to get our fish.

Be so healthier rats than at PetSmart all their pets are way healthier I go to PetSmart a while ago and pass through within 3 days I couldn't hold it it was just not healthy the pets at Rogers are the best they're so healthy they feel full of life an all there pet supplies amazing if they don't know what they're talking about they will give you false information they'll let you know that they don't know and they'll direct you to someone who does if they have no clue what a rat they'll show you to someone who knows more about them they won't tell you something if they don't know it it's not the cutest albino mice from them and he makes me so happy I love Stuart and Stuart loves me and I wouldn't have this connection that Rodgers aquatic and pet supplies

This is the best aquatic store I’ve ever been to. These guys know their stuff. They’re always willing to take the time to help if you ask questions. The fish are well stocked and CLEAN. You can tell these guys are up to date on water changes, the tanks are pristine. They have a good selection of aquatic plants, and they have them organized by difficulty and light needs, which is great. Their fish selection is great. Their bettas aren’t in bowls, they’re in a beautiful display with proper filtration. They have a fish guarantee, if your fish doesn’t make it they will replace it (ask for details) which takes some of the stress off of buying. They have everything you need to get a fish tank up and running, an entire wall of different types of filters. This is a full pet store, but their aquatic centre is why you should definitely stop in.

A little pricey on some things, but I don't have a problem paying an extra buck or two on some things to support such a great local business. The owners are always super helpful, and the staff is very friendly. I can't personally speak to the aquarium side of things, but their reptiles and feeder rodents are always super well taken care of and healthy. I have several pet rats from their feeder stock who were well socialized and are very friendly. They're also not afraid to tell you when they don't know something, and will point you to someone who will. Also notable is that they have the best selection of tarantulas that I've seen in the lower mainland.

Roger's Pets has great staff, and a large selection of everything ! I was quite impressed by the size of the store. I was helped within 30 seconds of entering the store and was able to get the exact little pet I was after. I adopted a cute little Rat Girl, who is so sweet and loving she loves kisses and cuddles. Also the lady helped me wrap a box I brought to put her in and added the necessary holes. Great service and selection do check it out, you can tell they care because all the animals are happy !

Fairly large pet supply store. I go here exclusively for my freshwater aquarium so I can't comment on their other products. Fish and plant wise though - top notch. They are super educated on their stock and can advise on a lot of your questions. One thing I particularly like, if your fish get too big for your tank or you simply feel a need to swap out your stock, they will take the fish back and give you a credit (provided they're healthy). I refuse to dispose of live fish so this is a great win/win.

I am so disappointed with this store!! I've been going to this place for 2 yrs to get all my fish and supplies.MOST of the staff are very friendly except a cashier up front. I brought back one of my fish which I had not long as it had died. She would not even give me a second thought in helping me or getting me another fish,as I was going to buy more that day.I guess I was suppose to bring in a water sample which I never knew,it was so darn hot that day,I couldn't face another drive. But really being a long time customer....and this chick knew who I was.I am very disappointed...will I go back there? Not sure unless this gets settled through management.

Very very poor service, unfriendly staff , price higher than other pet shops. I bought more than 10 fishes from here and gave them my 10" algae eater, on phone they promised me to give credit for it, however they denied it, when I went there. Next day one fish died and I took it for exchange with a sample of water, they refused to change it and started making excuses, definitely not a place to shop. I'm not going there again

The cleanest tanks I've ever seen at a fish store. You can tell that they take care of them. I drove 30 km to go there because they said on the phone they had certain fish when I got there they sold it to the person in front of me. I ended up buying nothing there.

It was well stocked with a great variety of products, some of which I had never seen before! I was extra excited to find a Chilean rose hair tarantula available! They had them specially imported from Europe. Any tarantula fan knows how hard it is to find one now! Wish I lived closer so I could make this my exclusive shopping spot for pets!

Purchased the marine land 10 gallon kit from here as a gift for my husband. My husband set it up and the filter is very poor. It doesn’t circulate the water at all and it’s just better to build your own kit. Customer service is five stars and the fish are in very good condition with a three day return for any that don’t make it.

There was an ownership transfer idk maybe a year or more ago and I’ve noticed with some of the staff they aren’t as educated as the old employees/owner. There's a good selection of supplies. I really wanted the 55-gallon tank because it was only $150 but i decided I'd rather go for the 75-gallon. There is a lot of different types of aquatic plants and tropical fish... and a turtle. No fancy goldfish here, only feeder fish which you cannot choose because they sell them as feeders. I liked the bulk substrate bags where you fill the bag with the amount of substrate you need. Beware of tarantulas on the checkout desk :)

My girlfriend and I have recently been frequenting Roger's Pet Store since our go-to store in Burnaby stopped stocking live feeder mice for our pet ball python. The staff here are friendly, engaging, knowledgeable and extremely helpful when it comes to suplying us with sizeable, healthy mice for our snake. Never been to this place, thought i try it out. Review seemed nice. Went in on Remembrance day and they had a 4 for 1 plant sale. Asked the girl helping me find plants and she had no information to give. So i figured it out myself and got 5 plants that are 4.99 per plant. Jim cashed out my order and wanted $35 dollars for it. I asked about the sale and somehow i still got charged $31.66 after tax. I am not a math genius but that dosn't add up. Didn't bother arguing again since it's obvious they need the extra $10 more than i do. There are better places to get your aquarium supplies and definately better place to get knowledge and advice (check out fish adicts) not to mention better prices (check King Ed Pets).

Bought a used sump for my reef tank from them because my old one died. Figuring they tested the products they sold I installed it. Oh man was I wrong! Sure it pumped the water but it ran so HOT it literally fried everything in my tank. Easily lost over 1k worth of livestock. Their response was the worst part, practically blaming me for what happened. Stay as far away from this store as possible or you may get burned!

Our youngest child has a Gecko that he takes very good care of and would not let just anyone touch his pet for the fear of it losing it's tail. Sadly when we picked up our pets from Rogers Aquatics the tail was gone. My son like any child is very sad. We understand this can happen if a gecko is stressed or in a life or death situation. We are no happy that someone who isn't familiar with gecko was grabbing him (Thats what they told us). We were told that the staff member was not familiar with the gecko and that their tail falls off.???? I still think Rogers Aquatics is a great place but this was a bad experience.

I've been a customer for over 10 years, usually buying cat food, fish food and aquarium supplies. Over the years, Roger and his team have done a good job, providing friendly service... Until my last visit. When i walked in, there was no typical friendly greeting... No big deal. Everybody can be busy at times, especially 15 minutes before close on a Sunday. When I went to the tanks in the back to buy some feeders and check existing selection, the staff was busy chatting with other customers. Again, no big deal, I can wait, and check out potential new fish for a fresh tank. Then the other customers left. Two staff members had a quick chat, one left and I was left with one staff guy, who seemed very preoccupied. I inquired about a missing fish food I've been buying over the years, and he distractedly confirmed by looking where i already had, that they were out of stock. I then mentioned i wanted to buy some tetras to which i got a distracted 'ok' as a reply. I waited for him to finish doing what was distracting him, then he just left. Without a word, he just walked away. I waited about 2 minutes then just walked up to the front to pay for the other type of fish food I needed. I was not happy. When my girlfriend inquired as to the fish I had wanted to buy, i told her that I changed my mind because nobody wanted to bother helping me. The younger guy at the counter quickly offered to get fish for me, but I now had zero desire to spend a penny more than what was necessary. I told him I'm not waiting any longer, and that i was really disappointed. The other two older staff members leaning against the counter did absolutely nothing. Up until that point, they were just talking to each other, debating some insignificant fact. If I'm going to be coming back here, it's now because of it's convenient location, and nothing more. Obviously long term customers are unimportant to their staff. If they didn't recognize me as a regular, that's just fine: I wasn't expecting special treatment, I was just expecting someone to do their job. I guess that's asking too much.

Probably my favorite place to buy any fish or reptile product! The fish here are in properly sized tanks look healthy and even the betta fish are in larger than usual containers. I've gotten fish here almost a year ago now that are still healthy as well as a gecko thats been far more active and eats better/more than the one I adopted that had been bought from a less reputable source originally :) They have far more variety than most pet stores even for rodent supplies as well I noticed, which makes sense as i believe they breed and sell feeder rats! But the rats look healthy and im sure plenty of people keep them as pets! For dog and cat I wouldn't bother except maybe as an emergency, but they did have orijen for dog last time I was there which is nice! Im definitely happy to continue shopping here for reptile and fish supply!

Rogers is one of the few surviving aquatic stores left. They have great stock and prices are reasonable. Their FW fish and plant selection is great as well as supplements, equipment and more. I can't comment on the reptiles, rodents as I have no knowledge of them, but they seem to be pretty good.

There are two good live fish stores in the vancouver area. One is rogers the other one is in downtown Vancouver. The one in downtown have a more interesting variety of fish but they don't quarantine, so I rather not buy fish that will probably die. I prefer to make more trips to Roger's, see if they've brought something that I like, with the knowledge that I might not find something that is interesting to me, but knowing that if I buy it, it will probably stay alive. So, good job quarantining.

I've had nothing but good experiences visiting this store. Employees are helpful and knowledgable, and the selection of fish and driftwood is good. But almost every single fish I bought from here died within three months--a total loss of over $200. I bought from other stores too, with no mortalities. I don't blame the store, but I do question the breeding quality of fish from Roger's suppliers.

So just for reference, even though their own website says they will take returns with receipt OR proof of purchase, they do not honour anything other than the receipt. My daughter purchased a fish that died 2 days later and we offered a bank statement as proof of purchase because she had lost the receipt, along with the fish body but , they refused to help us. No receipt no return maybe they should change their website

they have changed the landscape of the reptiles and fish for the better. our wallets are glued to this place now. in all honesty we stopped coming here a few years back because the inventory of rep/fish was all common cheaper generic stuff. they weren't changing anything. we didn't know what they were doing to be perfectly honest like they didn't care. we started going to other places that actually had good inventory. so we gave roger's another visit. we are here to tell you that roger's rocks now and we love it. what a face lift! check it out.

Worst customer service , treated like a visible minority and that rarely happens and this is the type of place where that clearly goes down witnessing it with others as well. Watched someone else have there bagged fish handed to them with a smile meanwhile when it comes to me the person doesn't say a word and walks away to bring them up to the front. The previous day the other worker hands me the fish with a friendly smile. Never stepping foot near this place again . To bad for them had a $4000 budget for fish and accessories for a pond that a client wanted, so that's out of the question with them .

Back in March, I purchased a thai silk flowerhorn from Roger's Aquatics and absolutely fell in love with this guy. I named him "Blue" ( from the movie OLD SCHOOL) All was well for a couple of months until a couple of weeks ago when "Blue" started acting funny. He wasn't greeting me bye the glass all excited, wasn't really eating he was just in the bottom corner of the tank sitting there doing nothing. I assumed he was just having a bad day and thought nothing of it. Until the next day I noticed he was breathing heavily, twitching and at times thrashing around in his tank si I thought to myself is it his water condition? I quickly gave him a water change and added the usual prime and stability but still he was acting the same. Still he wasn't eating and was still thrashing around, I was getting worried cuz he looked like I was going to lose him!!! His kok started to deflate and not having energy to swim around, In my mind I didnt know what to do and I was going to lose him. So I called Roger's Aquatics and spoke to Candice and told her my situation with blue so she asked me if I did a water test and I gave her the results over the phone and tried to give me some advise. (usually others would leave it at that and hang up the phone) Candice said " Come in and bring me a water sample and we will help you find out what's going on". So I scooped up some tank water and rushed over to the shop. Candice quickly did a water test of her own and found out exactly what the problem was with my water.( low PH) I also showed her a picture of "Blue" and right away she knew what was wrong. Candice said his gills are RED, its you're PH it's too low She guided me to the correct section of chemicals and suggested what to use walked me through step by step what I needed to do for the next couple of days to help "Blue" recover. I did exactly what Candice told me and in a couple of days "Blue" started to get better, he was getting healthier and stronger his mannerism of being interactive and playful came back! His kok started to inflate again other than the scar he got from thrashing around. He was back to his old self again. This over story ended with a happy ending all because of Roger's Aquatics and their AMAZING STAFF and especially CANDICE for taking the time to help me and other customers that walk through those doors. You went above and beyond any customers expectations and especially me to give "BLUE" a second chance at life and for me not losing the COOLEST fish I've ever owned. I am forever GREATFUL to you Candice and Roger's Aquatics for everything you guys do everyday. Thank you so much. Gillies Gamboa ("BLUE" the THAI SILK FLOWERHORN)

amazing selection of fish, reptiles and other small animals. they have everything you could possibly need. the staff as super knowledgeable as well. something i want to note is that if they don't have a fish in stock they can order it for you if they have it on their list. also got a albino budgie from there and i love that they start hand training them as opposed to getting a budgie from say petsmart that receives no training what's so ever. i tell all my friends to go here for their pet needs. it's a bit of a drive for me but i much prefer going here then to a big box store.

This store is a terrible source for pet supplies. They charge 40$ for a small piece of wood, over 20$ for a heat lamp bulb worth 10$ top. The staff are not knowledgeable, they told me I had to buy cedar chips as bedding for a ball python, which you never do. They also had no idea what the space requirements for one are.

This is a great spot to get anything you need for your lizard or snake friend, the staff is really knowledgeable and friendly. We went in to browse the snakes they had and the staff was so helpful, they even pulled them out of their tanks to show them off to us. Would highly recommend going here if your looking to get a new scaly friend or just to get some advice on how to take care of them. They also have a good selection of spiders, frogs and fish.

Wow!!!! What a cornucopia of animal delights to be found at Rogers Aquatic. An amazing selection of frogs, snakes, lizards and my favorite Tarantulas for sale. Speaking of Tarantulas they carry some esoteric species in the Pamphobeteus and Phormictupus family of T's. All Brachypelma lovers with have a plethora of T's to choose from. Just ask for Jim for all your T needs. The new manager is an absolute delight and reflects in all the knowledgeable staff!!!! Best Pet Store in the lower mainland!!!!

Great store for supplies with super friendly staff to help. Had some high end stuff the the large box pet stores don't carry. Also had some good quality used equipment. Went to get some Gerbils and supplies, was going to buy the 3 they had left as I didn't want to leave 1 alone but when they checked they saw 1 of the Gerbils had an injury and kept it so it could be professional helped.

it was my first time here today as i don't live in the fraser valley. I loved it here. I go to fish addicts often but this is closer than langley and the staff was so friendly and out going, great fish products and lots of botanicals (leaf litter) for aquariums, more than I've seen anywhere closer to vancouver. I got some beautiful large Indian almond leaves and some awesome oak leaves. I have 4 aquariums and all my fish love the leaves so far my SA cichlids , my neon tetra tank looks great with the oak leaves and my central american tetra tank also looks great with the oak leaves and my betta tank looks great with the 2 mixed! Will be a new frequent client!! Thank you!

This customer has had good consistent service in the past, but sadly, things appear to have changed. This rating is based on that and an incident that may indicate the decline in the quality of customer service at this store. Unfortunately, a phone call to inquire about a product revealed that at least one of the staff, possibly two, are not doing their job. A customer who has over 30 years of fish tank experience and many fish that have lived for over a decade, was spoken to in a condescending, critical tone and then openly blamed for the issue he was trying to solve. Disrespecting, much less criticizing a customer is not only extremely rude, it is bad for business. A word to the owner: making assumptions about customers is the hallmark behaviour of those who are not suitable for working in customer service, .. of any nature. Even if they are family.
