Very great customer service, very knowledgeable. Update: the food I got my hamster.... I found grain beetles and maggots in the bag about 2 weeks after I bought it. Back to store bought rather then a fresh mix.

Stay away from this dirty hole in the wall and animal abusers! Walking into this dump smells like something died and they even had to add some incense smells to cover it up. Fish are in dirty tanks, birds are unkempt and everything is over priced. Not to mention the fact they sold dogs, puppies and bunnies from mills and were even selling after the new 2017 bylaw prohibiting the sale of such animals. I’ve sent the SPCA a dozen emails with pics. To Tom and the staff, I look forward to my weekly visits to checkup on you! :) hope that chihuahua is gone, next time I see him I’m taking more pics Stay away from this place you’ve been warned!

Very good prices compared to other pet shops and grocery stores. We bought our dog a few years ago and wanted to get in contact with the breeder so the owner of the pet shop gave our information to them and we got a call back. It was nice talking to the actual breeder and also getting photos of our dogs parents.

This store is dingy, poor lighting and should not be selling animals. When I asked where the dogs come from the reply was "reputable BC breeders" which cannot be true as any reputable breeder would not sell puppies to pet stores. I was sad to see the puppies in the back, fluorescent lighting only, no daylight, two cockatiels in a small cage in the back. The fish tanks appeared quite cloudy and dingy. These people should not be allowed to operate in this day and age, if they truly liked animals they would not be so cruel as to be part of the puppy breeding trade.

I can not stress this enough, this store is terrible. They took advantage of me and lied to me about the pet I was buying. They told me that I was going to buy a male dwarf rabbit but when I took him home he started to grow...a lot after 3 months it was then that I realized that he wasn't a dwarf rabbit he was 30-40 cm. He was starting to get huge and our house was becoming too small for him. So we had to give him away, we decided to give him to Rabbitats. When we went to get him neutered the vet told us he was a she! My rabbit was a girl! So this pet store not only lied about the breed but the gender! I can not stress this enough please do not buy anything from there.

Will not tell you where your dog is from other then "reputable BC breeder", until you buy your dog. Even after you buy it they will inform you that the breeder will call you in a few days. We got the call but with no answers. I asked for any additional information about there breeding, location and history and they had no response and would just avoid my questions. ON top of that apparently the breeder had given away the parents of my dog, and had NO photos at all of the parents, no photos of my dog before i adopted him, and would never be able to get photos of the parents. Then hung up. Pretty much these dogs are most likely bred in bad conditions. If they weren't, they should have very easily been able to answer all of my questions without delay, and at least been able to give me more proof or information about the parents then a breed and weight on a piece of paper that could easily have been made up.

I don't know why puppies is in the name of the store lol. only came here to see puppies but there weren't any puppies. edit: woah, what a very personal response... the only reason I expected to see puppies was because I seen fish and critters in here. sorry you almost went bankrupted, how am I to know that.. you don't need to go on to say I'm selfish for writing a review especially since I didn't know the background of the stores history until you told me afterward. please don't take a review so personally, as if my opinion makes a big difference here...

Went here to get a Budgie, because all of the local Petsmart's were sold out and as I entered the guy was really nice (forgot his name) and helped us out, a little more expensive than Petsmart (35$) but I came home with a fully trained white budgie that was from a local breeder who we named Jojo. The lady on the other hand was a bit rushed and didn't know the gender of the budgies as I wanted a Male, in the end though the guy helped us out and I would really suggest this place for Budgies, haven't bought any other products but I might come here for my Budgie food and millet spray!

I came to the mall today after many years, as kids we always came by this store to see the animals and fish. During this time the store has probably changed hands a few times but nonetheless still brought back memories. They do not sell puppies or kittens anymore but you can still get fish, birds and other critters. They also sell almost every accessory under the sun for your pets. I was really surprised today to find that they sold sports cards. This was another walk down memory lane for me as well. I was happy find a bunch of sports cards which I used to have and enjoy when I was younger. I also met the owner Tom who was more than happy to tell us about the cards, his store and indulged us with his stories and was really friendly. I was with my brother and we both really enjoyed visiting the store. We did buy some really great cards and I will definitely be coming back again. Make sure to stop by the store if you’re looking for any pet accessories, pet food or any thing else pet related. I am pretty sure you will find what you are looking for and maybe even find something you weren’t… all’s pet accessories for dogs will be 30% off as well! Great customer service, selection and prices. Keep it up Tom.. will pop by again soon!

We bought a Pomeranian/Papillon cross and were very happy with the store and the overall experience, so much so that we bought another one a year later! The prices are much more reasonable that I have seen elsewhere. We get excited to pop into the store now and see the other puppies, but have to resist the temptation of getting another one. I would highly recommend this store to anyone looking for a nice pet at a good price. Tom and his staff members are very helpful.

I am absolutely disgusted! My sister got 2 buggies from here, for an early Christmas present. We had only these birds for 4 days, and one of them got sick, and is not doing well. My sister and I are frantically trying to find a vet that takes birds, but none can get us in till January. We called the store and they just told us that “We sold you a bird, that is now dying. Not a dying bird” and won’t do anything for us.

I fell in love with a little pom/dachshund mix there around 5 years ago. She was beautiful and so adorable! I ended up buying her that evening and she has been my little baby ever since. The lady there was very nice and informative. She gave us all the information we needed and helped us pick out toys for her. Last year we returned there to buy a kitten and came home with our little Athena. I love the store. Im so happy that there is a pet store so close to home. As for the smell that some people were complaining about...its a bloody pet store! Of course its going to smell like animals and hay and food! Grow up! I would definitely keep coming back for my animal needs. As a matter of fact we are going there in 3 weeks to pick up kitten litter that only their store carries. :) Pictures of both my babies below.

When I was here for the 1st 2nd 3rd 4th time, only bought something under $5. Received great customer service, for only a few dollars sale. This time I bought $150, same great services. Owner is patient and treats every customer the way a person wants to be treated. As for price wise, this store is cheaper than big chain stores. The thing I love most is Tom has lots of one of a kind items that nobody else has. Tom also sells used pets supplies, cages that are in excellent condition for a fraction of the price. Will be back for more in the future. Recommended to all!

Great little pet store, all the tanks run under gravel filters and have great little eco systems.The owner was super friendly and gave me a discount without even asking for one. They offer a great selection of fish, I could spend all day in the store. 5/5 Stars no doubt! This is now my go to pet store for all my fish needs. Wish I had known about this place sooner!

I purchased both my miniature and toy poodle from this store. My miniature is 14 years old and still loves playing soccer in the back yard and our toy is 12 years old and still often mistaken for a puppy because of her playfulness and energy. We could not be happier with our wonderful puppies.

Before going to see the puppy I was interested in I had a long talk with the owner Tom. His answers to my questions eased any of my fears that their dogs come from puppy mills. My previous dog had been purchased directly from a farm, so I was able to see the mother with the pups. Even buying a puppy that way, you can never be sure exactly how the dogs are being raised, you are basically going with your gut feeling about the people you are dealing with. I had a good gut feeling about Tom, so purchased a puppy from his store. They seemed to be very caring people at the store (I was able to meet the owner as well) and very helpful. All his puppies come with a vet check. You take the puppy to the veterinarian yourself after you purchase him/her, free of charge. My puppy has been nothing but a joy. Bonus was she was already paper trained when I bought her and learned quickly to go outside to do her business! I feel good about my purchase from Tom's pet store. I never thought I would buy a puppy from one, but Tom seems like a very genuine person who does care a lot about his puppies.

We purchased our Pomeranian almost a year ago. We were assured the dog came from a reputable breaded but later found out he came from a puppy mill around 100 Mile. Has has been diagnosed with "luxating patrllas" and we had to pay $3500 for surgery on both knees. We have discovered other customers with the same problems. Stay away if you don't want expensive vet bills.

I have never been so happy with the owner and staff from the store who truly care about their customers and what they have sold to us. Great store. PLEASE - STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE. My daughter bought a puppy from this store over 2 weeks ago. The store has behaved abysmally, refusing to provide information about the puppy. They lied about her age, they have not provided information about the breeders, and so forth. But the most urgent concern is the lack of medical records. They gave an information sheet that says the puppy received vaccinations on two dates. However, it does not state what the vaccinations were. The sheet also has tiny little stickers that may have come from the bottles of serum - but who knows? They're so small that they're not legible. Not being a veterinarian, I don;t know what the stickers are, or what vaccinations they represent. Over the past 2 weeks, we have called 7 times to ask what shots the puppy received before coming to us, and to ask for proper medical records. The staff always promise to send the records or to have the manager or owner call us; but no one follows up. I am asking the Humane Society for help. Honest to goodness, it's hard to understand that a store that charges high sums for little dogs cares so little for the health of the animals. Please do yourself and the dogs in your community a favour, and go to a shelter or breeder who takes animal welfare seriously.

Bought my puppy there last May, she just turned a year old yesterday. She had a vet check today because she did not seem to walk right, turns out that she is lame. She was born with s leg defect that you can't see when they are very young. I paid 1,500 for her. The only way she could have this defect is that her parents have a knee cap defect themselves.

Anyone else have a terrible experience with the pet store "Puppies Fish and Critters" in Scottsdale mall? We got 2 budgies from them around 4 days ago. One of then is now dying (the other one is fine). We called them and the owner cut us off and snapped back saying "we sold you a bird that is now dying, not a dying bird" which I was shocked at but what would I have done in 4 days? He has been eating appropriate budgie food and drinking water. I have spoken with multiple vets who are telling me he was born with a genetic disease which wasn‘t our fault. Wouldn't recommend this store/ owners for anything.

Please do not buy birds from here. Although at the front of the store there are new birds in clean cages, at the back of the store there is a shelf stacked with run down cages of older, most likely sick birds. The cages have no toys, empty seed sticks, are not cleaned, and are peeling due to the birds picking at them. There were three cockatiels in one small cage hardly suitable for one bird. The poor birds had matted feathers, (a sign of neglect and stress), and were anxiously picking the paint off of the cage and empty stick. The most disheartening part was when the shop owners let a customer stick his hand inside the cage to touch the birds. Any bird owner knows this is extremely dangerous for the birds. They were clearly in distress, hanging onto the back walls of the cage and screaming. Please buy birds from reputable breeders, they are worth the extra money!

The lady who worked there told me to hold a puppy you have to be over 18 or with someone who is over 18, so they are actually capable of buying the dog. When i went and wanted to hold a puppy we were looking to adopt with my 19 year old brother we were told that instead there had to be a parent with us.

We purchased a Malti- poo from this store in 2008 ! We got the most amazing dog ever and the service was also fantastic . Our dog is healthy , good-natured, came with all the papers and dozens of folks have asked where did we get such a dog!! She is still doing phenomenal and with this home isolation , we realized we would like to get a second dog. Today for the first time , I looked for the website to see if there are any puppies available and cannot believe any of the negative reviews . These small Businesses should be promoted and allowed to flourish in our communities . They serve a necessary function in increasingly difficult economic times . My brother got a puppy from this store also a few years later on our recommendation . We feel so lucky as many of our friends have had dogs with so many health issues these here are two stories of absolutely great experiences .
