Lots of choices for special rolls HOWEVER, not the "cleanest" restaurant. I personally did not experience this, but parents had diarrhea every time after visiting there. Eventually, we stopped going after the third time and turned to other new Japanese restaurants in town. Service was sometimes bad, sometimes ok. Food is quite pricey given the plating, quality, service and restaurant atmosphere you get.

Amazing Sushi. Love this place BUT they need to get new tupper ware for the fish kept at the sushi bar. They look very old with moldy edges, perhaps switch to aluminum containers. They need to upgrade the sushi bar section/kitchen to give it a more polished up keep. They make $ their menu is pricey. Their restaurant is high volume. Great place to hold parties. Happy i am vegetarian! I had the vegetarian dinner box , sake and a Kokanee!

Tried them in Nov 2016 but were told they close in 15 minutes so we went to White Spot next door. Tried again around 6:30 Friday, Dec 28, 2016. Nice young man seated us at a table in the front area. Whole area seats a couple of dozen so it was quiet / private for us. They brought our drink order as we waited to order from the waitress. An older Japanese lady came over and told use they had just got a reservation for 10 people so we need to move to one of the booths in the back NOW! Both of us looked at each other understanding this restaurant may have good food but cares little about customers enjoying the visit. We left and went to another nearby Japanese restaurant to enjoy a great meal.

After years of having different kind of Japanese food, you kind of know what sort of quality of food and how much the value that a chef is serving you. Akari is definitely not a very pleasant and sincere restaurant. Ordered $40 deluxe assorted sashimi and looked like the chef used left over sashimi that are for sushi and most of them are tuna and salmon combination. Also those tuna and salmon are clearly pre-cut for sushi not for the presentation of sashimi( for sushi, the raw fish need to be thin enough to stay on the rice. For sashimi raw fish need to be at certain thickness in order to have better presentation and plated not laying them on the plate.) Not far away there is sushi wara has way better quality food, better service and at least you can understand what the servers are saying to you.

Got a craving for sushi. So I took out a Cali, Alaska and spicy salmon roll. They were good and made with fresh ingredients. The ambiance was relaxing and the restaurant was full. We have been visiting this place for several years now, and they have always been consistent in quality and service. And I love that they offer black rice as an option! I have yet to find a place in Vancouver that offers that option, hence I find myself stopping by Akari anytime I am in the Delta area. The sashimi is excellent and the rolls are all very good! Highly recommend checking out this restaurant if you're in the mood for sushi, you won't be disappointed!

I went in as a vegetarian curious to see if it was good if not better than the competition across the street. I ordered 3 rolls, the Avocado, the yam tempura and the Paradise roll. The rolls were much smaller than I expected especially the Avocado roll. The vegetable gyoza was way too salty for my liking. Gonna stick to the place across the street!

Such a good place to eat. For me, it is close to my home. The management is so friendly, as well as the serving staff and the chefs. We always get an Oyako Don (chicken teriyaki rice bowl with egg on top) for my 2 young boys. We order extra sauce on the side. The spicy delight is delicious. We like to go for the lunch specials. I highly recommend the hot night roll. Their prices used to be quite a bit higher than most places... but that was a couple years ago, and now all the others prices have caught up to theirs- which makes them have regular prices now haha- they just revamped their menu, so I took some pictures. Their Sashimi is always amazing !! I tried the beef yakisoba last visit too. I put some orange spicy mayo on top and I will be definitely ordering that when I go back.

FAVOURITE SUSHI PLACE OF ALL TIME. This is the place I go to when I want sushi (all the time). They have a great little restaurant with great staff. The menu is awesome, has a lot of classic sushi options as well as the exclusive special roll menu if you want to change it up. I love the fact that they have private booths, makes the experience a little more exclusive for your group. THE GYOZA IS AMAZING. WOULD RECOMMEND AND I ALREADY HAVE TO EVERYONE.

I regularly drive a 1.5 hour round trip to get here because this is the best sushi I’ve ever had. I dream about their Yellow Tail On Fire Rolls, Jumbo California Rolls and Toro Nigiri. I used to live right across the street and ate here regularly but since I’ve moved to Steveston the only thing I miss is Akari. I’ve tried all the local sushi restaurants in my area and none have even come close to the quality, service and taste of Akari (even though they are all way more expensive). I highly recommend Akari.

I ordered through Skip The Dishes. This sushi is amazing, so is the service. I have a gluten allergy and ordered 2 spicy mayos. There was a note in the bag saying that the spicy mayo is not gluten free and that they tried to refund it but the Skip driver couldn't do it. And there was a twoonie slipped into my bag. What lovely service! Thank you so much Akari for your care and kindness. I will always continue to order from you!

Ordered take out, dynamite roll, salmon roll, california roll, plain sunomo soup, and yam tempura. I was not greeted in any way when I entered, not from the chefs or hostesses, the hostesses avoided eye contact, at every other sushi restaurant I have been to, everyone greets you as you enter. The tempura temperature was luke warm and the sauce did not have a lot of flavor, but the coating was crisp and covered well. The sunomono soup was bland, it didn't have that bite or heavy lemon taste that I expect, the noodles were ok. The salmon rolls were actually maki, the dynamite rolls and California rolls were ok. In the future I will be going across the street to Kami sushi instead, they are consistently great and much friendlier.

Reasonably priced sushi place in North Delta. I like their lunch combos, they are a good value. Been for dinner a handful of times, service is not consistent. You never know if its going to be good or on the verge of bad (never bad though). I'm not a big fan of the quality of the sashimi here but other items are pretty good.

We were craving Japanese food and we saw on Google maps that it was close by and it had great reviews. We were skeptical because we rarely venture out from our favourite restaurants and we are glad we did. The food is reasonably priced with big and nicely plated servings. Everything looked scrumptious when served and the taste didn't disappoint - it was delicious. The servers were very gracious, kind and patiently waited for us to figure out what we wanted because we wanted all the special rolls - lol. We now have a new go to Japanese restaurant in our list. (We had second thoughts posting this because selfishly, we didn't want it get busy but other's review helped us pick this place - so paying it forward.)

What a fantastic sushi spot! The ambiance is lovely, so I highly recommend dining in. The food was fresh and delicious, with generous portions, AND sliced correctly (no gagging on ultra thick sashimi here). The lunch bentos were an excellent value; they come with a special of the day (it was a salmon cake when we dined there). *TIP* They swap out the special for agedashi tofu in the vegetarian bento, so if you're not interested in whatever it is when you go, you could probably ask for the tofu instead. Tea was very nice, in a good sized (and cute!) mug, and they kept it coming ???? Service was great as well, and everything came very quickly. Bottom line: this is my new favourite sushi spot in North Delta/Surrey. ????????????

Highly recommended. Nested in the street mall, you would not expect to see such a nice place. It has a mix of tables and private rooms. Sushi selection and quality are great. Service is fast and professional. Price is reasonable for sushi while dinner boxes are a bit high. In general, portions are generous so you don't need the dinner box. Restaurant is often busy. Very Westernized Japanese Food. Ordered the Sashimi Dinner Combination and Rainbow Roll. Very hearty portions. The rainbow roll is usually a classic, but this was drowned in sauce. The sashimi portions were awkwardly huge. Too bad the meat quality was substandard. Either bright orange, gelatinous salmon, or chewy-stringy greyish tuna. The Teriyaki Salmon was okay, as was the Seafood Tempura. Still left feeling full, but not fully satisfied. The highlights of the meal were the Miso Soup, and the Ebi Sunomono. Service was very friendly, booth seating was charming and private. My dogs however, give their leftovers 5 stars!!!!!

The crab and shrimp salad was a very generous portion. But the black sesame dressing over power everything on the dish. Then had the California roll that doesn't have avocado. The toro was yummy. For some reason, the soy sauce tasted more salty...er in this restaurant then others. Servers were very polite and friendly. When I go to a new Japanese restaurant, I usually ask them if they make their own Tamago there. Not this one. They don't. Overall experience is pretty good.

In my view this is the best Japanese restaurant in all of Delta/Surrey. It's very busy, which points to it's popularity, and I suggest that one make a reservation to avoid the line ups. The food is excellent quality, and lots of it. The service and care towards customers is exemplary. The sit in booths are impeccably clean as are the washrooms. For a dining experience, whether for one, two or twenty, the Akari is one of the best this side of the river!

Considering the reviews for this restaurant was 4.4 stars, I decided to take my girlfriend out for dinner here. We were greeted right away and had a seat in one of their rooms. The restaurant was designed well, with decors everywhere. However, it took over 10 minutes before a server even came by to take our food order. You can tell the food was fresh, HOWEVER, we received the wrong sushi roll and when we asked the server insisted that it’s correct. Onto the nigiri that I ordered. The salmon was .. well, any regular salmon nigiri, but when it came to my hokkigai, there was a strand of hair in it. I tried to get my servers attention right away but they walked by our table a few times before I got them to acknowledge me. There was 4 other tables in the restaurant. Server was apologetic and took the sushi off our bill. Needless to say though. I didn’t finish all the food fearing of what other anomalies I will find.

Friendly staff in this cosy neighbourhood restaurant, tables and tatami rooms. Booking on-line is easy. Vaccine passport/photo ID checked. Menu is large so we ordered far too much. Everything was delicious and nicely presented. Highly recommend the Awesome Roll- crunchy bits and popcorn shrimp, suits the name. Tea refilled a few times. Over the 20+ years, we’ve eaten in and gotten take-out many times and quality is consistent. Located in a strip mall (Scott/72nd) with ample parking.

So disappointed. Usually a good place. Today I was there for lunch and ordered a bentonite box and a few pcs Nigiri. When it arrived I saw that my salmon sashimi was farmed Atlantic salmon. I asked why the picture shows sockeye and that's what I've gotten there in the past and the waitress actually started arguing with me and taking an attitude. I know I was being polite and was taken aback by her aggressive behavior. Decided that I wasn't going to stay for that kind of abuse. All I wanted was a better sashimi. I would have ordered differently had I known. Poor customer service. Bad attitude. Not saying the customer is always right but don't start arguing with me. Now I'm at a sub par sushi place eating crappy food thanks to Akari. Never again.

The food here is okay and the service is decent, but they expect a tip from you. And if you don't give them one they will shame you in front of your party. I literally didn't have any extra change to place on the table and when coming to get my payment for my food, the server rudely and outwardly made a comment, "no tip". This is a restaurant business, when you sell someone food, they are obligated to pay for the food that they ordered unless there's something wrong with it. No one is legally obligated to give you free money. You cannot expect your guests to give you free money. That is incredibly rude. The only reason why I didn't give anything was because I didn't have any extra change and I'm not going to charge an extra couple dollars to my credit card, but I don't need to be shamed. I have literally brought so much business to this place, I have bought both friends and family but I will no longer be doing that. There's absolutely no reason for a business to be rude when a customer doesn't give free money. I could have walked out of the restaurant without paying. This is something every business needs to understand, NO CUSTOMER IS EVER OBLIGATED TO GIVE YOU FREE MONEY. EVER. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO SHAME PEOPLE FOR NOT GIVING YOU FREE MONEY.

This hole in the wall is fantastic, from their comforting udon noodle soups to their delicious special rolls varied from ones that are deepfried and golden crispy to the ones which are layered with cream cheese and just melt in your mouth. The staff are extremy friendly and the atmosphere is so nice and full of space that even though you can just call to pick up and go, you want to eat their and have it fresh. I love also they have isolated booths available for when with friends and family. I have come many times with many groups, some who love japanese food and others which dont, but everytime everyone loves the experience. The cost is very affordable and sometimes offer lunch deals as well. If you love japanese food, this should be your top pic for delta/surrey and believe me when I say that, I have eaten at most of them but none hold a candle to this place.

Every bite of food I had was packed with flavor; even the edamame on the side tasted great! Price wise, I think the dishes go for a fair amount; the quality of the food warrants the price they charge in my opinion. The only way I can describe it is with a car example (weird, I know): you can't expect to pay Chevrolet prices for a Lexus.

I've been here a few times with my friends and it has been consistently good. We like sitting in the private booths and chatting up a storm. They changed the seat cushions and it is sooo much nicer now. Very comfortable. Great service and fresh sushi.

Fantastic! The quality of the dishes here are top notch. My friends and i have been going to this restaurant for years. We came back recently and experienced prompt service and outstanding dishes. It is usually busy here but if you are able to the private rooms are quieter. We had some of the special rolls that are on the higher price side but are worth it. The Amazing roll lives up to its name. Very unique roll. The sashimi is fresh and melts in your mouth.

We love Akira. The sushi is all very fresh. The staff is always pleasant. My grandson loves the cone and the caterpillar roll. My granddaughter loves the fresh octopus and sashimi.

This sushi place looks small from the curb ,but it's quite large inside. With open seating areas to more private rooms/booths. Ordered the spicey tuna and California rolls, these were really good. Staff were attentive and food was served quickly. Really liked the restaurant decor and environment. Great for larger groups aswell.
