Happy spot. Spacious. Comfortable, atmosphere. Highlight of meal was the iced vietnamese coffee - which was satisfactory: strong coffee flavour, good sweetness level, and just balanced all round. Didn't think it needed a straw, I'd say just lose the paper (thanks!) straw altogether and drink it from the side would be just fine to me.

I agree this place use to be good, but they've gone down hill. They charge big prices for much less food and the quality is nothing like it use to be. The restaurant is crammed with tables, you're practically sitting on one another and there is no view, none whatsoever. In fact, they don't even have a real kitchen. It's time they come to reality and start charging accordingly. Nothing special here. There are better places to spend your money.

My family really likes this spot only place my son actually finishes his meal at so 10 stars for that. I wish the waiting area for a seating was larger. Always good. Their fare changes from time to time depending sometimes on season, suppliers, trends or preferences of the kitchen staff. Always a delicious choice for dinner and lunch with a brunch that rivals any trendy, lined up down the street kind of place. The staff are friendly and courteous and the bartending is done well with most any cocktail within reach and presented with pride. Prices can be a bit higher but you get what you pay for here for sure.

Doing a whole30 makes eating out hard! I emailed the cafe ahead of time and found out they use clarified butter and pan fry their potatoes. Their hollandaise sauce is sugar free. I ordered the Florentine eggs Benny without the muffin. The potatoes were delish and it comes with a nice selection of fresh fruit!

Historically this place has had fantastic food, drinks, and service, but my family and I had the unfortunate experience of being seated with a server who couldn’t stop yawning, could barely open his eyes, didn’t know the drink menu (we asked for glasses of Prosecco to be told you couldn’t buy them by the glass... and I wanted a pear martini... but he said he had never heard of it). I have always loved this place- I sincerely hope he’s not indicative of things to come.

We wanted to try this place because we’ve never been there. The serving time was insanely quick, and the food was even more quick, but we got luck of the draw there. The milkshake we got was pretty good as well. What amazed me with the main course. I got the Black and Blur burger, and it definitely wasn’t what I was expecting. I forget but it either has Blue or Brie cheese, and my god it’s the best burger I have ever had. I wanted to go back for a second one but the price deterred me a little. Either way, it was juicy, really creamy (from the cheese) and the bacon was crisp and delicious. My cease salad was good, but I was longing for a bit more dressing on it. Either way, can’t complain for a side. Simone got a spaghetti dish. It was tasty, and I wasn’t expecting the spice factor but it really lifted the dish onto a new playing field. It was tasty. If you know where to look, go here. You will be surprised, the stuff they serve here should make it a lot more popular than it is.

The Kabocha Squash Taco was the most amazing tasting veggie taco I’ve ever had. You need to try it! If your a veggie person or not it’s so amazing! Also I love their chocolate mouse, so good! Atlas has been a place my friends and family have gone to for years, ever since I was a little child. Will always support local and yummy tasting food!

I've been coming here for almost 20 years, and I've never had a bad meal. In fact, they've literally all been amazing. This may be the most consistently excellent restaurant on the island. I moved away years ago and have lived all over, but I always come back when I'm in town and I'm always delighted. Thanks for the wonderful food.

I didn't really like my soup and pork tacos but the lovely manager made it right by asking for my feedback and took it off the bill and also gave me 15% off for next time! Sunday in Courtenay... and it's lunch time. What's open?? We found Atlas Cafe open, and as busy as a any weekday. Ordering was relatively easy but delivery to the table took a bit of extra time. Could it be someone called in sick?? I'll go with that. When the food arrived we were all pleasantly surprised. Full marks for presentation, ( we do eat with our eyes too), so thankfully it wasn't the chef that was MIA. Food was properly prepared and the composition was better than average. Service was quite good so I would go back. There may be readers who will wonder that if I liked the food and service why didn't I rate it with 5 stars. IMHO, the rating system needs a realignment to reflect reality. The difference between like and love is significant. If a middle of the road establishment gets an easy 5 star rating, where is the incentive to improve?

I rate this a 10 out of 10 This was one of the best Restaurants! I have ever been too dating back to May 2018. My relatives and I stopped here for dinner, When we frist walked in here it was a amazing fridendy atmosphere our server that took us to our table brought us our food and drinks was very nice and helpful, I older their delicious enchiladas with pull pork and a side older of ceaser salad. When I frist took a bite into my enchiladas I felt like I was in heaven my taste buds were going off like fireworks of how delicious they made it all the flavours were there no complaints at all we were satisfied of our meals I give thank's to the Chefs for making our delicious food here and the servers that brought us our food Amazing experience.

As a human who is all about good food and food culture, I am glad I had a chance to visit Atlas. I had the Angela Burger. Delicious! And the housemade beef patty would have been good enough to eat by itself. We treated ourselves to southern style Iced Tea (as opposed to the more common Canadian "Sweet Tea") and lattes (pictured). Even the lattes seemed to have been made of housemade ingredients - not too sweet, just a wonderful amalgamation of spices. We were drawn in by the "Best in Comox" reviews, which made us laugh as Atlas is in Courtenay ... But you know what? It's the one of the best restaurants in Courtenay. And Comox. Easily. To top off their delicious, filling food, their staff are polite and trained well. Great experience all around.

Delightful 3 course dinner masterfully and artistically prepared and presented. Great service, alright atmosphere, wonderful food and wine menus. The only drawback after seeing the $160 tally was seeing that the two, yes 2 scallops Appy, although delicious, cost as much or more than most Entrees at $17. We will certainly return but will enquire about appy portions before spending that much again. Despite that one disappointment, hats off to the Chef! The Rissotto Entree and Belgium Chocolate Cheesecake were divine!

We came in for a quick trip to Courtenay, and Atlas was reccomended to us by a friend. We were not dissapointed. The service was good, the food was nice. We both had burritos. I had the vegetarian option which was surprisingly good. The only thing that made me not give them a 5 star review was the close proximity of the tables. For our whole lunch I had to listen to an older man talk about his novel he was writing about the male domination in today's society and how it is actually a good thing. That alone ruined my lunch.

Because of Covid, we are very picky where we eat. We feel safe at Atlas as the tables are very far apart. You enter the restaurant at one door and leave at another making it a safe experience. The new dish Atlas Breakfast Bowl is very good. Food and service has been very consistent at this restaurant for many years.

Highly recommended by a former local - seems like everyone in town eats here! Doesn't look like much from the street, but is nice enough inside to feel at home dressing up a bit - might feel underdressed in jeans and a tshirt. Service was superb and the food was excellent. Prices are on par with an Earls/Keg type restaurant (I wouldn't call it a cafe). A great place to go on a special occasion, or a regular occasion too.

My friend recommended this place. I was a bit skeptical going into it because they didn't have fries as a side. Glad I was wrong because the salad was fresh and full of flavor and the burger had a great char taste to it. My friend meal also looked hardy and delicious too. Service was friendly and quick. EDIT: we initially rated Atlas 1 star due to the below experience, but I would like to note a change to 3 stars. The co-owner, Sandra, has really impressed us with her swift and genuine response to our experience. We are going to make one more trip to give Atlas a try, and Sandra has been very kind, understanding, and communicative. This kind of response is unusual to us, in the best way. Despite our initial experiences, Atlas is clearly well managed and under excellent ownership who do care about their patrons. Original review: My husband and I have been to Atlas twice; the first two experiences were pretty un-memorable; to be frank, I can’t even recall what I tried. Not bad experiences, but not particularly good either. However…over the holidays, we received a gift card to Atlas as a thank you for looking after our friend’s cats. We have now tried twice to use the gift card and had poor experiences both times We were a half hour drive away in Oyster River, but on Tuesday the 4th, we got in the truck and plunged into the snow to have a nice night out together that we both badly needed after a difficult holiday season. When we arrived, the restaurant was closed, despite us showing up during their advertised open hours. This was frustrating but of course we understand between weather and staffing crises in the area, it happens. At least the staff left a note on the door for those who were showing up. Fast forward to Thursday the 6th at about 1pm, we decide to try again after I finished work at 3pm. My husband called around 1:15pm to confirm the restaurant was open, and he was told it would be until 6pm, so we confirmed we’d go later. I finished work, we got ready, did the 30 min drive again, arrived around 4pm…on arrival, doors were all locked, lights off, restaurant empty, but no note on the doors…we hovered around a moment, very confused as we had been told it would be open only a few hours before we arrived. Someone finally came out and told us they had arbitrarily closed. No signs on any of the 3 doors. We had told the person on the phone that we were coming and that this was our second try, so someone knew…no f*cks given apparently. So we’ve now wasted 2 hours of our lives and 2 hours worth of gas on 2 unnecessary trips back and forth for nothing. Honestly, this restaurant seems highly unreliable. Delicious lunch at Atlas Café. I was greeted upon entering and sat right away. Definitely a popular place for lunch in beautiful downtown Courtenay. I enjoyed the seafood on toast, which was local clams in a red Thai curry sauce. The flavour and local ingredients came together for a wonderful starter. I don't know perhaps if they need better ventilation? It would not stop me from going back though. There's dust in our air everywhere we go. :) The food was delicious. I forgot to take photos of the meals but ordered at the table was the Heurvos Rancheros, and the Classic Breakfast. Fresh ingredients. Tasty meals. The service was really nice. I went for lunch here with my boyfriend. There were lots of vegetarian options. The food was good and the produce they used was fresh. I had a small burrito with no sides and found it filling. The restaurant was fairly busy so the wait for our meals was long. The server was friendly, but the hostess insisted on directing questions to and only making eye contact with my boyfriend, even though I was the one answering her. The restaurant was more upscale than I realized so I felt underdressed and the prices were more than I expected. If I weren't on a student budget, I would eat here often and I would definitely recommend the restaurant to others.

Perfect little restaurant on 6th street. I travel all over Canada for work on a weekly basis and i have to say this is the best restaurant i have been to in quite some time. Started with a warm welcome by the hostess, then greeted by a very easy going and helpful waiter Ivan whom i will definitely request as my waiter next time i am there. A very on point, detail oriented, down to earth manager who also interacts with customers to make sure everyone is having a great experience. As far as the food goes, every ingredient tasted fresh and flavourful on their own and everything beautifully put together and seasoned very well. I dont understand what some people mean by a bit pricey but worth it.. If its worth it then it cant be pricey. When you consider that they have huge portions and amazing quality ingredients topped off by a great chef and menu, the prices are VERY LOW. Amazing food at decent prices. Good range of options all the way from starters to desserts. I was very impressed. IF YOU ARE IN COMOX VALLEY, THIS IS THE PLACE TOGO. <3

Very disappointing experience last time, and wasn't very happy with how our bill was handled. The meal that was on the special sheet took the longest of all our meals, so that guest had to wait an unacceptable amount of time longer than the rest of us. Not impressed with the service provided around our dessert order either. Most of the food was as good as usual, but it didn't make up the the other issues we experienced. Then, to our surprise at the end of our group's meal we were informed of the automatically added 18% gratuity. If our service and food had been as expected, this wouldn't have been a issue, but having received sub-par of both, it was not acceptable. Please do not tell people how you want their money!! A gratuity is a gratuity...not an entitlement. Wont be back anytime soon, as there are other places we'll be choosing to give our business.

Customers were waiting to get in, it is that popular. Like many restaurants, they are working hard to get staffing levels up so those that are there are working very very hard and I applaud them for their services. We got to Atlas 20 minutes before closing, having just finished skiing. The staff didn't make a fuss at all, and made us feel very much welcomed. We even ordered dessert and stayed a good 40 minutes past their closing time, and yet not once did they rush us. But beyond the amazing service, the food was SUPERB! I was a bit skeptical at first, as I usually am with menus that have such a wide range of different cuisines (they had French, Mexican, Asian, Italian, and the list goes on and on). However, all the food was fantastic! The quality was consistent even through the dessert - their fruit crumble is a MUST HAVE. I haven't had a dining experience this good since Araxi in Whistler, and that was 5 times the price. Great prices, great portions, great food, great service. This place is fantastic!

This is a hipster joint and the menu is reflective of the demographic being targeted. If you're in the mood for a simple entrée, consider looking elsewhere. Most items on the menu are complex and include the 'fanciest' of breads and sauces. Portion sizes are inconsistent - taco are trendy and small, but sandwiches are 'normal'. Service once seated was good, though the wait time to be seated was considerable as well as the time between ordering and food arriving. Additionally, the menu posted outside the door did not match what was on the table and a number of items listed outside were unavailable.

Great comfort food with a variety of options on the menu. Starting with the seasonal squash appy, we were pleasantly surprised with the fall-inspired flavours. The Island shellfish of the day were clams, which were excellent and provided a good serving for two people to share. Recommend the red thai-style sauce. Spicy tuna-belly taco held this review back from a 5/5. The shell was very slightly stale but overall the flavours were complementary to each other. Would recommend and return - excellent service!

Okay, this cafe was the place we went to for any special occasion or excuse for celebrating. We were loyal patrons for over a decade. Until one day we went with visiting family members for a Sunday brunch. Not one person was happy or satisfied with the meal they ordered. Our next two visits were unfortunately equally disappointing. We haven't been back since. I don't know what went wrong, previously we had always thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at this trendy little cafe. Very nice staff, comfortable, cozy atmosphere. It still looks packed whenever I've passed by, so maybe the problem was temporary & has been fixed. I really do hope so, cause I did love this place. Does have outdoor seating both in front of the restaurant & on a patio in the back.

My daughter and I had lunch here. What a great atmosphere inside and a lovely patio at the back. We had attentive and amazing service! The food choices were excellent for someone with dietary restrictions such as gluten free, vegan or veg. I had a sear tuna salad (not sure what it is on the menu) and it was fantastic! I ended up buying a jar of the dressing to take home. I highly recommend this place to anyone. We will be back!

Food was yummy. Service was attentive. I really appreciated being able to sit out in the garden. The weather was cooperative, they also have a large fan circulating the air. I felt covid comfortable! Thanks Atlas.

Service was ok, but the salmon burger was incredible - perfect crispy salmon fillet with a soft warm bun. The Thai coconut curry with prawns was pretty good, too - good to warm you up after a chilly wet afternoon outside.

Huge variety on the menu, wholesome comfort food. The pulled pork burger and eggplant sweet potato quesadilla was delicious! The miso ginger dressing on my salad was ???? Will be back to try out more things on the menu!

Ordered 7 meals for lunch via the online ordering. So user friendly! Went to pick up the food and was greeted with smiles (I think...they were all masked) and friendly service. Highly recommend eat in or take out! Everything was delicious!! We'll all be back!

I've been visiting this restaurant for years! Delicious food and wonderful service. I especially like the chai tea and fish tacos! Also, the carrot cake is amazing.
