I have been here about 6 times now. I keep giving it another chance because i really want it to be better. Its not the food in its self. I like the food. Its just that i find the service slow and mostly lacking. Its friendly enough but each time i only saw my server once, tawards end of service. I didnt get offered coffee refills any of my visits. It was like they were super busy but restaurant was empty exept for me and few others. My son wasnt brought his dessert in one visit. Also i do find portions kinda small. When i go out to a restaurant i want to be full. Get what i pay for. But each time I'm left wanting a bit more.

Really great fish and chips spot. I drive out form Montréal to eat here. The all you can eat shrimp is an amazing deal and delicious, and I've never seen such large kids meals. My sons finally have more than they can eat

My wife and I ordered haddock shrimp and chips with an order of onion rings last night the 24th Sept. The order was timely enough ,but, the fries were way over cooked the onion rings were very soggy . The fish and shrimp were good ,but , I don,t know what happened this time . The last time we ordered ,everything was perfect . It must have been a tough day for someone . This time was a disappointment. We will have it again soon ,but only in restaurant, and if we get the same results, we won,t be ordering or eating there any more . Maybe delivery is not the best way to go . Hoping this only a one time disappoint.

Disappointed! Will stick with Don's in Brookville. Waitress says what dressing on the salad, we were alittle puzzled and then I didn't get fries with my plate. So she brought fries on another plate. Then they tried charging me extra for salad. I went there for fish and chips. Cook tells us sorry she works in the icecream store and doesn't waitress often but argues with us at payment time..3$ soft drink...57$ WoW never again

Great food and Tuesday has all you can eat specials. I have heard the deals are so great and staff is so friendly that they make it safe for the residents at the retirement home across the street to cross safely. How amazing is that for customer service!

Excellent food! But let down severely by the lack of cleanliness. The place is filthy and the employees were standing around chatting instead of cleaning. There is a thick layer of dust and dirt and dead flies on the window ledges, the bathroom smells dank and the floors look like they have never been mopped. The sinks were dirty and there was no extractor fan making the damp smell unbearable. The blinds were permanently down which made the place look closed and unwelcoming, but I suspect that was to hide the extreme dirtiness of the window panes themselves. There is a leak from the ceiling that was left to accumulate on a table and bench (and the employees just walk by the water puddle, ignoring it) and there are several ceiling tiles that are stained and wet with water. The vents themselves were dripping wet. We were very unsatisfied with the place and almost left when we looked around but we were pressed for time. There were also live flies that kept bothering us throughout the meal which was unpleasant. Again, the employees were not concerned. I feel like if the cleanliness was improved, I would have given it 5 stars because the food was good and the location has good bones. It really is a shame!

The batter on their fillets is very bready. Some people will enjoy that though. I prefer a crisper batter Tartar sauce however is terrible. Sugary, artificial, unenjoyable.

Excellent fish & chips and seafood platter! Every bite was crispy and enjoyable. The shrimps were SO good; the best that I’ve had! My husband doesn’t eat seafood, so he ordered the chicken strips; he loved it. Super clean restaurant and washroom; feel safe to eat in here during Covid time. Friendly and speedy service.

Went in ordered our food paid for it, and the very nice guy at the counter said I'll bring it out to your car in 15 minutes. It was great service and a nice change during Covid. Remember to tip these people they need the support.

Out of the many places we have gone for fish and chips, Captain George's has become our favourite. The food is excellent, with good sized portions and various menu options, and the service is fast and friendly. I have grilled fish and greek salad, and my husband has the battered fish and fries, and we are always happy with our meals. The restaurant is always clean no matter how busy they are - and often they are very busy. The manager usually takes time to say hello to us and we are always served with a smile. We usually go next door to Cowan's Dairy for an ice cream dessert! Overall, a 5/5 from me.

I’ve had fish all over the world, fish n chips being a favourite. This restaurant is a typical diner style. It has decent haddock, cod, halibut fillets with a medium to light weight batter. Fresh cut fries are good. Having said that, the meals are way over priced. I’ve been to other comparable places in Ontario and I’ve never paid almost $30 for 2 pieces of fish n chips and a drink plus tax. (3 pieces, maybe I would). Too bad, it was decent quality for this level of restaurant. I won’t go again because of the cost.

Don’t believe the good reviews! Worst food ever!! I ordered 1 piece of Halibut with a Greek salad. The piece of fish was shamefully small and tasteless, and the salad consisted of mainly iceberg lettuce, goat cheese, a few chopped tomato bits and olives. Oh, and a little bit of red onion. My hubby ordered 2 pieces of Halibut with sweet potato fries. He said he enjoyed his meal about as much as I did mine, which was not at all. The real crime is that this was all at a cost of $45.00. The so-called Greek salad was a $3.00 upgrade versus fries, and the sweet potatoes were also a $3.00 upgrade from regular fries. I do not understand how this restaurant is still open. Save your money and go somewhere else.

first time i try Captain George on 2nd street west and will be my last time. The one piece of fish was ok but the fries were over cooked hard burnt pieces. Portion was small for the money we paid. Too expensive not enought food also bad fries. Not impressed at all would not recomend it to any of my friends

Probably the best fish and chips outside of Atlantic Canada, and would be near the top even if it were located on the east coast. Light, non greasy, and not too crispy (overdone) batter. Fish(we had cod) seemed very fresh and the fries, though slightly overdone, were fresh cut and tasty. The waitress we had was friendly and went out of her way to make allowances for my son who doesn't like fish or chips! Will definitely be going back.

My husband and I go out for dinner weekly as a date night for last 30 plus years of marriage and this is the place we have been going for last few months. We used to go but stopped for awhile to try other places but we keep coming back. My husband makes a point to find out when his favourite waitress Arial and his favourite cook Jesse are working and we go those days. We always are greeted with a smile and leave laughing. So many places forget that service is the number one but definitely not here.
