Those two bearded dudes (I don't remember their names) working the front counter were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We came from Alberta where we religiously fish and wanted to get a hook in the water here as well. The prices were phenomenal and the level of service given here exceeded all of my expectations. I always have my one go-to tackle place, and I've found mine for all of my future adventures here! Thanks guys!

Top shelf fishing gear supplier, and they do guided fishing trips. The staff are really knowledgeable and all of them are avid anglers. Fred runs a tight ship with who he has on the floor providing customer service and it shows. They have all the gear for salmon and steelhead not to mention everything you need for sturgeon and lake fishing. All of their Bass fishing gear can typically be found at the abbotsford store but that doesn't mean they wont bring it in for you. Cant say enough great things about Freds Custom Tackle.

Awesome little shop, I was struggling with my gear out there in the water, dropped in, and the owner fixed up my stuff right away, and got me the right gear I need. I didn’t even need to think, just pay and I am back in business. Had a ton of fun hooking up Cohos with my new gear! Saved my day, love it and 100% recommended! Edited: love my new reel! I don’t know what tech it has, but it works really well and that’s all it matters

I always liked dealing with Fred's. Their old location (down the road at Keith Wilson, just north of the Crossing) was iconic. Everyone went there, on their way either to the Vedder (to pick up tackle) or from the Vedder (to take a photo of their fish). We were all kind of sad when they were forced to close, but we sorta knew Fred would be back somehow. This new location at 6336 Vedder does not disappoint! The second you walk in, you can tell right away this is a store of fishermen, by fishermen and for fishermen. It's all business. Good selection, and knowledgeable and friendly staff. A very nicely laid-out store, for both terminal tackle / gear fishers and fly fishers. Their affiliation with Loop Pro FFF MCI caster William Holmes, fly casting instructor par-excellence, lends them a lot of credibility. Fred also was instrumental in uniting sport anglers around issues that threaten the fisheries we all enjoy and care so deeply about. The folks at Fred's are about as good as they get, and their large customer base and turnout at the Grand Opening are evidence of this. Extremely convenient in that they also have another location in Abbotsford which is even bigger. 10/10!!

Got a guided Spey fishing trip for steelhead in the first week of January.2018. The river blew out while we fished it. My guide Brody, was amazing! Not only was he extremely knowledgeable and well-spoken. But he kept a positive attitude the entire day, despite the freezing cold and pouring rain. Though I may not have gotten the fish I was after. I certainly do feel like I had the best chance possible. I would definitely recommend they're guiding services. and as an Atlantic salmon and brook trout guide on the east coast of Canada and an avid fisherman I can say without a doubt, Brody from Fred's custom tackle, is one of the best in the industry. At the end of my trip I felt I knew more about the fishery and targeting the fish. Would definitely do it again.

The staff here helped me a tremendous amount when I was learning how to fish for salmon and steelhead. All the tackle you will ever need. Just don't expect them to be able to spend a whole bunch of time helping you in the middle of Salmon season when the store is full of people. If you want to get lots of good advice, go mid week when the staff are not so busy. The store is also very involved with fund raising efforts for local habitat enhancement.

Their merchandise is incredible and they accompany you with only the finest of advice. Make sure you pop in either shop in Abbotsford or Chiliwack BC. Thx Fred!! You earned it!!

Amazing service and the best advice...We went to Fred's to look for some Sturgeon gear. I did not want average gear, but some rods and reels that would last a long time and and give us the best action when fishing. We met Tom there and I could tell he knew what he was talking about and that I could trust him on advice and pricing. We ended up with amazing equipment and great prices. He also gave us a tip on where to fish! Great tip Tom!!

Stopped in after my rod tip broke while fishing the Vedder. The guys helped me out straight away and didn’t charge a thing. Maybe this is normal for tackle shops but it was a surprise for me. I then needed to buy some bait and instead of selling me the expensive stuff (I asked for roe, which is what I thought to ask for) the dude said try these (soft beads) instead. He said they’re cheaper, durable and people had been smashing fish on em. Appreciate the great service and not taking advantage of someone who is clearly new to the game.

The guys here are great both my husband and I were diagnosed with cancers and day my husband due to lung cancer can't make it our for fly tying stuff these men are so great. And all the times I've book my husband's sturgeon trips in Abbotsford they have been great aswell Sean has always made my husband rod Paynes trips a great experience . So recommend both stores and all the staff thankyou so much for everything . I hope he can have atleast one more trip with Sean but praying for many many more ???? ❤

Really like the chilliwack location . Minutes from the Vedder river and good parking for when I’m pulling my travel trailer. These guys have awesome selection for fly tying and good gear . They have helped me on 2 sets of Simms waders as well .
