I bought some fish about a week ago with my girlfriend and she has never had any problems with fish and she has 3 fish tanks plus a pond, she decided she wanted to get more fish so we came here because the prices were good and the service was nice. BUT! my girlfriend noticed that as soon as we had them for 2 days they had white spots on them, which is a type of parasite, she tried to quarantine them but one has died and the other could soon be on its way too!. DONT BUY FISH THERE.

I try my best to support local businesses but I will no longer be shopping here. Before covid, I bought a wooden log for my 5G fish tank and the manager said to soak it in water for a couple days “in case there's any dye”. I soaked it for 3 months and the dye was still leaking out. Today I made a trip to get a store credit on the log (they don't do full returns). I live with high-risk individuals so I haven’t done any non-essential trips until recently which I explained to the lady after she pointed out how long ago I bought it, she replied, “well we never closed”... I told them I wasn't informed that the dye doesn't come out and they defended themselves claiming that some people like the 'tea-bag' water colour... They also said I could use it for reptiles (I don't have any) or give it to a friend. In all, I wasn’t bothered so much by not being able to return the log as I was by their sneaky lies to sell items and the managers unfriendly attitude towards customers. I’ve had much better experiences at PetSmart and they are always polite to their customers.

Awesome place i used to go in almost weekly to get my turtles some treats never had to wait long. Staff always friendly and is knowledgeable. If they aren't busy they'll even distract your kids for you if your trying to find info about your pets. Anytime my pets need something this is my go to place.

All animals were kept in suitable conditions, and seemed healthy. A welcome sight compared to the surrounding chain pet stores. No cohabing, happy behaviour and clean tanks. I'd recommend them over any other local pet store so far.

This store is fantastic with a wide selection of aquatic animals. Coco is also a treat, such a friendly bird that says hello and asks for scratches. This should be your first stop on your search for your pet needs.

I've had problems with this store in the past, about 7 years ago... So I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and recently tried again. My mistake. I bought a LG Pleco 2 days ago and all was good. Brought it home, got my tank all set up and good with my other fish, levels were perfect. I get up in the morning (Not even 10hours after putting it in) to feed them... My new pleco is dead. I redid my water tests and everything came out right on the money... So my fiancee called the store and the manager (Who was quite rude on the phone) basically told him he was wrong. She told him he was wrong even though I had the results right in front of me.. So today, Sept 6th, my fiancee took the dead fish and a water sample in to the store. The manager in person then talked down to him like she did over the phone.. Basically saying my tank is wrong and it wasn't just the fish itself. Long store short, after all the being talked down to by the manager over the phone and in person all that happened was in store credit that didn't even come out to what I paid for the fish. Lastly she felt the need to throw in there that "It's not my job to keep track of your tank".... Thank you but no thank you.

I've been here many times. I like their fish tanks and the guinea pig/rabbit cages but I'll never buy fish here again. I've had to many die days after I bring them home. I'll also never forget the day I saw five rats living in one tiny cage, it was horrible. As for the information I was given about male guinea pigs, it was all wrong and I'll never be able to trust information given to me from the staff here again.

I like the store, normally. Only today the lady running it was very rude. I go in and I usually spend time with Coco. There are signs around saying 'please don't stick your fingers in the cage'. That's fine, I know how hard a bird can bite. I have a macaw... Coco always comes up to me and says 'scratch' and gives me his head to scratch. So I do. The lady today comes up to me and doesn't ask, she says you shouldn't do that he can bite hard. I say I know, I have a macaw. She begins to tell me that all birds have different personalities.. And watches me the entire time. Like literally stands behind me. EXCUSE ME..... If I am risking my safety because I want to pet the bird that is asking me to and is not showing me any signs of a threat, I will. There are signs, you warned me. That's good enough. Go on your way. If I get hurt, that's my fault. The other lady who runs the place has no problems with me doing that. And not once did he threaten to bite me. Not my fault that you're afraid to touch the bird that's captive on your store. Maybe he's mad at you because he's been sitting in that little ugly cage for however many years.... He deserves better. I was going to buy something today, after her personality..I walked out.

This is an amazing store! It has very kind staff and all the little creatures you need! If they are not in, it only takes a short period of time to get your pet! Horrible experience, went 2 weeks before Christmas , asking for a certain colour hamster for my 5 yr old. Was told yes they would have some ready at that time, spent over $100 on cage, food etc, and worked out I would come in on Dec 24th. Sorry we sold both of that colour already. I reply I already purchased everything and had it worked out. They say sorry we dont hold pets. I said I could have paid for it 2 weeks ago if that was the case and offered to do so but was told no, just pay on day of purchase ,we will have them. Then they said we dont hold animals for people. What an outright lie, as there was an animal in the cage right there with a sold sign. First you sell the animal you say you have there for me, then you lie about policy. I was in 2 times before the 24th, the 21st, and again on the 23rd to make sure there was no issue, and was assured each time. If it allowed I would give you 0 stars

Great place, everyone is nice there and always so helpful. Since you can't go in and I needed to see a bunch of items the lady just kept bringing it to the door to show me. Very helpful. Will always go here over any other place! Anytime you ask them questions they always have answers for you if not they find the right answers. Most helpful store in Chatham and so patient cause everytime I go i always have so many questions and whatnot and they just answer everything with a smile and laugh and joke around. Perfect place for any pet owner to go. Just wish they would let me buy their Parrot I would love to have him

Donated a fish of mine (worth at least $25). While I was there I purchased 2 fish. I was expecting at least half off discount or something since I just donated a fish to them so they can sell it. She charged me full price for the 2 fish I purchased. I was honestly disgusted by it. Couldn't believe it. I will never step foot in that place again. Also want to mention the manager can be very rude and snappy. She stands behind you staring at you for no reason. It's like she's watching your every move to make sure you don't touch anything or something. Kind of creepy. I could've spent hundreds of dollars here. No thank you. I'll just keep going to Petsmart.

Love shopping at Living Things!! The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful and know their stuff! Living Things has been a part of Chatham for over 40 years and they should take pride in that!! All these big box stores want to do is sell sell sell, money money money and here we have a nice quiet pet store who take very good care of their animals and then there's Coco the Cockatoo, he's been with Living Things since the beginning and still as noisy and lovable as ever. Chatham needs to support these small businesses. I know I do. Keep up the great work!!
