As of day this firm gets a rating of 4.1 over 5 and that rating has been based on 127 reviews.
As you can read, it reaches an reviews average is really good, and it is founded on a very large number of scores, so we can be quite sure that the valuation is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to leave their review when they've done well, it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to write tatings when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Fish Shop belongs to the category of Restaurant.
One of the best lobster rolls and fries I've ever had. Excellent service. And the fish and chips were also amazing.
Caron is awesome and so is her fab shack of fries and hugs.
Fantastic lobster poutine and lobster rolls. Fries were some of the best I've had. Very reasonable prices. Well worth a visit!
Great unhealthy food. Fun and friendly service.
Amazing food everytime I have eaten there .
Great place for a lobster roll that is not overpriced, my girlfriend is a poutine aficionado and loved the lobster poutine. The owner is so fun, she was dancing and singing when we arrived
Ordered and after waiting 35 minutes asked when my food would be ready. "25 hours" was the response from the lady. This is basically a food truck not a sit down eatery. Do not go here. There is a place just down the road that is faster and has better service.
You'd have to be insane not to love this spot! Delicious and friendly!
Often Gluten Free is a turn off for many people, but the GF batter on the fish is simply delicious. The lobster roll is also quite good - the lobster is diced with a very mild aioli to hold it together. The flavors work well together and do not over power the lobster. Reasonably priced.
Great little place in downtown Charlottetown. We grabbed a lobster roll and fries. For 12 bucks it was a fantastic value. Thanks again ladies!
(Translated) We went in low season. Great products and little wait. Affordable costs for the quality. Very smiling staff! (Original) Nous sommes allés en basse saison. Excellents produits et peu d’attente. Coûts abordables pour la qualité. Staff très souriant!
Disappointed. Came to PEI for the first time and had high expectations given the lobster industry here. The lobster roll was so underwhelming that I don't know if the other comments are from bots or paid marketing?? Pros: the environment was nice, floating on a platform and next to the waters Cons: - Fries are heavily overcooked - Debit/cash only - Lobster roll is embarrassingly small for $20 price tag. Bun is the small hotdog bun you find general grocery store with a SMALL serving of lobster, estimate less than 1 small lobster tail's worth since it's mixed with creamy fillers.
I'm not the type of person to say silly things like 11/10, but if I could give this place 6 stars I really would (I realize how hypocritical that statement is). The Chip Shack was honestly our favourite place out of everything we visited on the island. Food was good and service was amazing :)
A great casual dinner place. This cute little chip shack is on a dock right in the water with table and high table seating with awesome views looking out on the water. We had the lobster roll and the fish and chips - both were very good and very reasonably priced (13 and 11 I believe). They are cash only so be prepared. Staff was super friendly. I'd recommend this place for sure.
The best little gem on the island! Where else can you get fresh cut fries and a hug? Really where?
Amazing Business! MUST GO! This owner was willing to go above and beyond for me. I got a Gluten free fish and chips. Incredible taste and great service.
It was amazing! The service was great and the apple fries and regular fries were to die for. Definitely something you want to check in while visiting the island~
Awesome fish n chips as always! Smiles and friendly service included!
It is by far the best french fries, secret ingredient is "love"!
Trip Advisor over rates this one. A cool spot and friendly staff don't make up for a slow kitchen and honestly underwhelming food; yes, even the lobster rolls. It's a toasted hotdog bun with famously weak-flavored lobster. It's not bad - just not great.
Great fries. Terrible service. A lot of easy fixes could make the service run better. Wouldn't have been upset over the wait if there wasn't such confusion over orders. People were taking orders left and right whether it was correct and they were letting it happen. Asked for a plate and they didn't have enough to give me one. Will not be going back.
Poutine Lobster fries are delicious, atmosphere is relaxing.
Keathan from the Double Decker Bus Tour said these fries were the best - and they were! Service from the ‘Fry Lady’ was fast and friendly and the potatoes had that skin on like I had in my youth. A great treat to end a great tour!
Good food. Pretty pricy. Cost $50 to feed 3 people ... at a chip truck
Tastes like homemade!! So much love and care make for tasty fries and a delicious lobster roll!
Went there on our east trip last summer and this place had the cheapest yet BEST lobster rolls and fries I have ever had!
PEI potatoes make great fries, especially fresh! Poutine was very gravylicious.
First time finding gluten free fish and chips in a restaurant and they were AWESOME! Apple fries were also amazing! Plus super friendly staff. We went back for supper for a second time in 2 days while in Charlottetown.
Best. Fries. Ever.
(Translated) Super welcome and too good the apple fries with maple caramel! First time I tasted apple fries, it's a success! (Original) Super accueil et trop bon les frites de pomme avec le caramel à l'érable ! Première fois que je goutais des frites de pomme c'est une réussite !
Such a fun place! Delicious fries on the pier! Ideal to have a taste of those famous PEI potatoes. The owner is so friendly and will also give you a taste of PEI hospitality.
Absolutely love Caron's lobster rolls and fish n chips. And always a smile. Food served with love.
Great poutine!
Amazing fries, and a nice on-the-water spot to eat
Chips were crispy. Fish was lightly battered and tasty. Tarter sauce complemented fish perfectly. Poutine was also very good.
This is by far the BEST Place to eat! It’s small but mighty tasty for us celiac and Gluten sensitive people out there! Fish and chips and Chicken fingers and Fries were to die for! Definitely a must stop if your in Charlottetown!
Best poutine in the Atlantic !!
Owners were friendly and their poutine is really good.
(Translated) We have been there twice. Good lobster and nice place. (Original) Nous y sommes allés deux fois. Bons lobster et belle place.
Sorry, but the worst french fries {chjps} I ever had.
Had the poutine. It's amazing. Several options on the same floating patio. A great place for one and all!
Not enough stars for a rating that matches on how good the poutine is here. The food is only matched by the great and friendly service you get when order here. Next time we are in Charlottetown we will definitely will be stopping by for an order of the lobster poutine and the pulled pork poutine. Hope they keep up all the amazing that is coming out of there :)
You want your PEI lobster and potato experience in the same place, look no further.
Best fries and lobster roll I've had on PEI so far!
All summer I've been on the hunt for the best lobster roll in PEI, and let me tell you this is NOT it. I would place it somewhere between cat food and canned tuna. I'm genuinely not sure if it was even actual lobster. I was with a friend of mine who is a chef, after one bite he claimed it was the worst he'd ever had. I really wanted to like this place. The young lady who waited on us was nice enough, the prices seem reasonable, and the location was great too, but I just can't recommend a place with food this abhorrent. I've had many lobster rolls this year and this was by far the absolute worst.
Not sure why there are high ratings for this spot. The lobster roll was the WORST I’ve ever tasted. I saw the lobster in a Tupperware container. I’ve traveled to over 75 countries in the world and believe I know what good food is. Maybe this is good food for PEI. Who knows. The fries and spicy garlic dip were decent though. The shack is on the water with a nice view and great little area to walk around before or after your meal. The girls in the shack are friendly and the food took about 10 minutes.
Had fish and chips taste great but servings of fish need to be lot bigger the fish looked like something from a captain highliner box for a 11 dollars I would expect more fish and fries if wasn't for my wife I would of taking it back for full refund will not go back till servings are in creased and maybe some real forks
I didn’t want to give the Chip Shack even one star, but you can’t post a review without at least one. I give the Chip Shack zero stars!!! The place was unsanitary, which should have been our first clue, not to eat there. The ordering service was disorganized; they almost seemed confused. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait, which turned in to a 45 minute wait. Other customers were lining up to complain about the wait. Those that were complaining ended up getting food before us, although we were ahead of several of them. The food was not that great either. My girlfriends lobster poutine had way too much gravy…which was not home made…I saw her opening the package. My pulled pork poutine didn’t even come with cheese curds. When I took it back, they put the curds on, then poured more gravy on to try to melt them. Then I saw her pop it in the microwave. I am the kind of person that hates to waste food, but that could not be called food. The table we sat at had a brochure about the owner and how she takes pride in growing up on a PEI farm. She needs to take pride in her Chip Shack.
Great place for a quick snack/lunch. Serving great french fries made from PEI's potatoes!
Delicious lobster rolls, fantastic fries, and an awesome owner/operator. I've had two really great experiences here 1.5 years apart. Highly recommended if you're looking for great food downtown.
Best chips around and great service from the owner.
Caron Prins is awesome. Super amount of energy and she obviously loves what she does. Her food is awesome.. and primarily gluten free. Fries are amazing..the fish is amazing. Highly recommend.
overrated, small portion, fish did not taste right.
Totally disorganized. Not super clean either. And, 40+ minutes wait for a simple hot dog a fries. Not that busy and raining out. Would hate to see what this place looks like on a busy day.
Ordered the lobster roll and fries. Lobster was a paste mixture (not chunks) and the roll was burnt and dry/tough. Barely ate half of it and threw out the rest, went and bought a lobster roll somewhere else nearby. Service was very friendly though
Had the Fish & Chips for $10. Everything tasted amazing! Fish was fresh cut, battered and fried with tasty seasoning in the batter. Chips were among the best I've ever had. It was a small portion of two little pieces of fish that made me wish the menu had a bigger option, but definitely worth the $10 price! (Plus the portion of chips was massive!)
When in PEI, one must get fries. PEI potatoes are legendary and you know what? They are correct. I had such a fun time trying out different places to get fries. The chip shack came highly recommended and I get why, they are just the right amount of crispy and salted just right. I got them with a side of lobster roll that was good but nothing fancy. The fries are where it's at.
Simple. Selfmade. Delicious. Good Karma. Free Hug. So glad to have stumbled upon this place.
Wait was very long, which I didn't mind so much but fish and fries were really heavy, like the grease soaked into them. I've had their food before when they were not on the dock and I liked it then, so maybe now that they're busier they can't can't quite keep up with quality. I'm not sure what changed but there are definitely better places to have fish and chips at.
Best fries in PEI!!
Delicious fries, incredibly friendly service and a great location. Would recommend and will be back!
Fun location on a floating dock! Had lobster roll with Fries, and hotdog/pulled pork with fries (and a few frosty drinks). Was really great, the fries were amazing, prefect crispy yet fluffy..
Great location on the water and other attractions nearby. The 2 ladies manning the shack were friendly and polite and got my food out in no time. The lobster roll itself looks small, but packs a lot of flavour and I would definitely go back for more! The "chips" aka fries were amazing and make sure to get the extra side of dip to go with them. They were hot and fresh and went perfectly with the roll.
Good eat wonderful.staffs.

Really good fries, great service and a nice view of the water.
Got off the cruise for a tour and needed a quick bite. The apple fries are to die for. I didn't know they were what I was looking for but they were. Whether regular or apple, the queen of fries does not disappoint!
The food was good, we had fish and chips, of which the fish was nicely battered, and a lobster roll, which was yummy. The lady at the counter was very friendly and super pleasant. The price tag is expensive for a shack. The seating on a floating dock is fun and charming.
(Translated) Very good little restaurant the fish & chips and the lobster roll were very good fried fresh then eaten on the floating dock was very fun it is a nice little place to eat on the go to make lobster poutine (Original) Très bon petit resto le fish &chips et le lobster roll étais très bon frit fraîche puis mangé sur le quai flottant étais très amusant c est une belle petite endroit pour mangé sur le pouce à aisseiller la poutine au homard
We had the Apple Fries! A generous portion of red delicious apples, deep fried goodness with lots of cinnamon sugar and caramel sauce. We spoke to others who were eating fries & poutine, they really enjoyed their food too. Go see Karen, she is terrific!
The chips and lobster roll was really good... Lots of people on the floating dock that day so the wait time was very long. Way to long standing around a chip stand..
Lobster roll is amazing especially the bread is very crispy. Server is friendly.
A trip to Charlottetown simply to eat at The Chip Shack is a worthwhile experience. The fresh, hand cut fries are delicious, the lobster roll was the best I'd ever had, and the gravy was spot on. They only take cash, so make sure you come prepared.
The best in Charlottetown!
(Translated) THE BEST FRIES IN THE WORLD! (Original) LES MEILLEURES FRITES DU MONDE!
Lovely hot fish and chips and apple fries on a cold rainy day, thanks Karen, for making sure we didn't miss out on the deliciousness!
Great lobster rolls and fries!!! Very friendly staff!!!
Fun little shack on the water. Literally lol. On the floating dock in the harbour. Very friendly prices for the location. Food is not the best but it's certainly not bad. They use mostly brand name items. But that is my only draw back but for some that may be the cats meow. I still enjoyed my meal. And have every intention of going back anytime I'm in the area.
Delicious food, friendly staff. Lobster poutine was terrific. Nice to sit right on the water and enjoy.
awesome! one of the best lobster rolls during our trip, location is super nice (when sunny ;) )
My son (16 y/o) ordered a simple poutine. It was busy, so he sat down and waited while his father and I were up by the tables in the grass. After about 20 minutes, I went down to check on things. He told me his number was #23 and they had just served #20. I waited with him for a bit before heading back up to our group. After another 15 min, my husband went down to check on things. My son said he was seeing #'s 28 & 29 go out, with more complicated orders, all containing fries, while he still sat, waiting, being told his order was coming up soon. *Finally* my son got his order of mediocre fries, gravy and cheese. He was happy to see his Poutine had cheese curds on it, so there was that saving factor.
Good food and free hugs :)
Absolutely perfect!! Incredibly delicious gluten-free fish and chips! Eat here!!! The gluten-free apple fries are a unique gem to be had here! Scrumptious! Can't recommend the Chip Shack enough!! This was the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. We are very sad that we live thousands of kms away. The owner is also a delightful lady.
Obviously the fries were amazing... we had the pulled pork poutine, and more than enjoyed it! The gravy was spot on and they used the perfect amount of cheese curds! Very cute little spot to stop for a quick lunch or snack on the water. The service was also very prompt and friendly.
Very good fish and chips! Mediocre lobster roll
Bad food
Popstag seal of approval amazing
Great food, friendly servers. Will be back :)
Great service and staff. Food is average and greasy.
Best fries in Charlottetown and the staff are super friendly.
Friendly service, delicious food, fun outdoor seating. Some of the best fries I've ever had.
As you can see by looking at other posts, I would avoid stopping at this place to eat. The place was completely unorganized, it took over 30 minutes to receive a large fry. The customer service is next to none as employees did not seem to care in the slightest bit about the lineup of angry customers waiting on their order and when asking for a plate to share the fries with others, the lady refused to give me one since she only had two left... (what is she going to do when those two are gone?). As for the quality of food it is nothing special. There are many other places I would recommend before you stop at this one.
Ambience and food ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Staff are so friendly. Love it
Great pei fries
I've had poutine all over this country. This place is by far the best
Lady was rude when inquiring about food due to allergies. Fries were no good at all. It seemed like fries were stale then they were fried again. Lobster roll doesn’t doesn’t have as much lobster as it looks. It’s prepared and sits there in a bowl all day. Not made fresh.
The only reason I gave it a three star was because the lady was very nice but working alone and had to turn us away. She had 15 orders ahead of us.
I would rate The Chip Shack as a 3.5. I was greated by a happy face that took my order and name and said they would shout out my name when the order was ready. Four of us found a table with sun shade on the floating food court. All around the table our food was about good. We had fish and chips and a lobster roll. Good friends and wonderful weather on the water made the experience pleasurable.
The super lady that owns this shack should be the unofficial ambassador of PEI! She knows how to make Fries and is so down to earth friendly and engaging. As she hands out her freshly made creations, she'll say: "I hope you'll like it" - almost unsure of herself and very endearing. She also makes great apple fries and the lobster rolls are awesome too. Even pooches can get a free drink. Now located by peakes wharf down by the water. Took a couple of stars off though this time around as the couple of folks working for her were not the least bit friendly and at best aloof when we ordered today. When I asked about their famous apple fries, I got a curt response from the young lady in glasses simply saying: we ran out! With an attitude like dont you know we run out of those early in the day?? Hopefully some of the owner's warm island friendliness runs off on these other folks and maybe I'll increase their rating next time back to five stars. Came back all the way from Toronto after trying them out at their old location at the foot of Prince street for the first time in 2017 only to be treated like this. Oh well. So much for high expectations.
Not sure why all the high reviews. The lobster roll was the worse I had in PEI and we visited a few places. The texture of the lobster was that of canned tuna. I could see the server ripping small pieces of real lobster and placing tiny pieces on top of the blended stuff (what ever it was). My son asked for a Coke and got a PC Cola. Then another customer asked for a Coke and got the real thing. Jeez, talk about cutting corners. 2 stars for at least being by the water. Big disappoint.
Cashier was handling money then food without washing hands. Long polished red fingernails....yuck.
Girl didn't know how to cook, got my fish and chips burnt
Fish and fries were over-fried and the lobster roll and fries were much too salty. Too bad, looked good but was disappointing.
Absolutely amazing! Right on the water, in the middle of Charlottetown's downtown, next to the boardwalk. I can't have gluten and we discovered the sign for GF fish and chips totally by chance. It was so good and satisfying! The batter is homemade and delicious. Definetly try it out!
We only ordered the apple fries but they were totally delicious. Wow, wow, wow! I'm going to try to make these at home as they were such a unique way to make apples... or I mean, fries! :D Great job!
The best lobster roll I've ever had and the person that owns it is an absolute gem! I absolutely recommend anyone passing by to visit it and get the lobster roll! Thank you so much for making your costumers feel good and feed them with amazing food!
(Translated) Very good lobster roll! Generous portion! With a beautiful view of the water! (Original) Très bon lobster roll ! Portion généreuse ! Avec une belle vue sur l'eau !
I have seen fries better than that. They don't taste Local. Plus no vegan options seriously. No hairnet is worn. And no gloves on. Why is this death trap open
Warm buttery roll. Full of delicious lobster. Highly recommend.
Good food, but they need more staff. She was run off her feet.
Awesome ladies and awesome lobster roll! And I loved blueberry ale
Excellent fries and amazing spicy garlic dip! You also get free hugs from awesome Queen of Fries! :)
Very busy place. Fries are excellent but Lobster roll is a bit bland.
We were told 20-30 min wait for food, it took 45-50. 2 of the 3 employees were standing around while everyone waited for food. Very inefficient setup apparently. When food finally came out, the fries were burnt, and the ‘fish and chips’ included one small piece of fish. Lobster roll made one of us ill and the pulled pork poutine was a generous serving, but couldn’t eat most of it due to the burnt fries. We wanted to save time by not sitting down at a restaurant. We were both mistaken and very unhappy with our decision.
We had the fish and chips and the fish was fantastic and fresh, but the chips weren't anything special. The portion was small for the price.
Great kettle chips and falafel burger.
Our favorite place for fries on the island ❤
In general its nice. The lobster roll was quite buttery. Only accepts cash
Best lobster roll and fries
I’m not so sure why there’s so many great reviews for this place. We waited over 40 minutes for our “large” fries and it was not as big as we expected. In addition, the workers were cutting lobster by pulling the meat without gloves on. You can get better and 3x the amount of local PEI fries at BoomBurger, right down the road, for the same price.
She's so friendly. Only reason is wait time. And only reason there's wait time is that she's great. And everybody wants her food.
(Translated) Really long, it doesn't make sense 1 hour of waiting and we are not served (Original) Vraiment long ca pas de bon sens 1hr d attente et on est pas servi
Great location. Really slow and disorganized service.
Fantastic Lobster Roll and the best fresh cuts fries ever! Very friendly staff and great prices! A must stop on the Charlottetown waterfront.
Delicious food truck/shack fare, right on the water. We both got the lobster roll with fries. The fries were excellent. Be sure to order the $1 gravy, it's delicious and much better than the ketchup. The lobster roll was decent, one the better ones we've had on PEI. Plenty of outdoor seating, with a lovely situation on the harbor. Be prepared for a wait, our order took 30mins. Definitely worth a lunch visit if you've got the time.
One of the best places to get lobster rolls... Great people!
Super yummy gluten free fish & chips--and apple fries!
We ate here for lunch while visiting PEI for a weekend vacation. There is a very friendly woman who works here and seems to have a celebrity status of some sort among the locals as The Queen of Fries. We had an excellent lunch with delicious apple fries for dessert, probably our tastiest meal even when conpared to our 50$+ per person fancy dinners that we had at the upscale restaurants. The overall experience of dining there as well as meeting the woman working there can only be described as surreal. The Chip Shack is not just a must visit location during your Charlottetown trip, it is a reason to visit in the first place.
Good lobster poutine, with a few gluten-free menu items.
Really good and fresh
Few foods have I ever craved, specially when there are other restaurants with the same offerings, but Caron's lobster roll is an exceptional exception. Served over a mountain of freshly fried and delicious PEI strips, I saw a perfectly buttered and toasted roll with the greatest amount of lobster I've ever seen on a roll, anywhere. The first bite was perfect, and once i finished the roll, I wished I had come here for dinner, because I could not finish the fries. I felt like coming back next day, and the rain did not deter me from reaching my destination and trying the lobster poutine, which was tasty as well. If Canada had a Michelin guide, these rolls would be worth of a journey to Charlottetown just to try them.
Very good, cheap lobster rolls
Friendly service but very long line up. Lobster roll was mostly bread and not much lobster. Also quite expensive.
Great fries, and great location right on the waterfront.
Awesome food, not as expensive as competitors in local area, and super friendly service.
The service is great. But food lacks flavor.
Owner is super friendly, as are staff. Food is great and atmoaphere is relaxed!
The food and the staff.
Love their fries
(Translated) The apple fries with Cinnamon and hot caramel is so good. Just wow. The lobster poutine is also really good! (Original) Les frites de pommes à la Cannelle et caramel chaud est tellement bon. Juste wow. La poutine au homard aussi est vraiment bonne!
I absolutely Love everything about The Chip Shack! We had gluten free fish and chips. An amazing PEI destination that comes with very fulfilling virtual hugs❣Perfection with GF apple fries and caramel sauce for dessert.
Best fish sandwich I’ve ever had! The fries were also top-notch and the customer service was 10/10.
apple fries FTW!
The lady running the place needs to improve the "flow" of her order to delivery - it just seems lost with somewhat simple menu
Don’t be in a hurry but the food at atmosphere was worth it! Amazing little place. A must stop on your vacation.
Not sure what the fuss is about salty oily fries and lobster mash out of a frozen bag... Ladies are fun and place is nice but this is not fresh by any measure. Junk food at best
Amazing fries. A must to visit while on the waterfront.
(Translated) You have to be planning to get a simple poutine, about an hour of waiting at noon. The smiles and good humor of the people who work will not make you forget your hunger. Money only. (Original) Vous devez etre prévoyant pour obtenir une simple poutine, environ une heure d'attente à l'heure du midi. Order fish and poutine. Waited over 45 mins for my meal was not told there would be a long wait. The food was good but not worth 45+ minute wait!
Family loved their apple fries. Slightly disappointed with their chilli dog.
Excellent lobster poutine and lobster rolls!
Délicieux! Super good food made and served by a super great lady. Excellent service! And a nice view of the waterfront!
UNSANITARY - DON’T GO!!! The cashier at the Chip Shack prepared the lobster rolls without washing or sanitizing her hands after handling customers’ money!!! I also saw her picked up a fries that fell on the counter and she put it back on the plate for the customer. I was in shock!!! How can this business operate like this in COVID times!!! Even if we’re not in a pandemic, she would not have passed a food safety inspection! While deciding if we should cancel our order, our food was ready so we were stuck with the food. The lobster roll was ok, but fries were over fried and very dry, the fish batter were very greasy and no tartar sauce for the fish either. The apple fries were good though.
Very good fries and lobster poutine! The owner is very nice. The view is great. Charming place.
The apple fries were delicious!!! Yummy!! They were cooked in cinnamon sugar, and you can dip them in a thick sweet sauce. I would definitely have it again! I wish we had come here before the end of our trip! Their prices were reasonable! Nice woman manning the Chip Shack! It is on a floating dock, which is neat! They have 6 picnic tables with umbrellas over them to sit and eat at, or you can walk to Cows (1 minute walk) and eat at the picnic tables there.
Its not fish and chips its chips and fish ,we ordered fish and chips , just one piece of fish with lots of Poor quality of chips ,the atmosphere is not good , not very friendly, poor quality ,NOT recommended ,
Perfect little fish and chips restaurant. Low prices, friendly service (hi Karen!), big portions. I loved gluten free fish and chips. My wife liked the lobster roll but wished it had a better bun. She was quite impressed with the fries though. We sat at a table on a lovely floating dock just a few feet from the water. Interesting to look at the nearby docked boats. Couldn’t ask for a better summertime dining area.
I can’t help but suspect they use crab meat in their lobster roll. They have a prime location and use some off the shelf ‘value’ brand mayo, as well as the tartar sauce bought from Walmart. Nothing made in front of me was homemade. Seriously?! Not hard to make either. Horrible food. As another reviewer stated - ‘catfood’. Wish I could give it ‘0’ stars. Shameful.
Spectacular poutine.
She was in a rush to close so pushing everyone to order, had the lobster sandwich, lots of non lobster filler, I'll try Dave's next time.
Great food...enjoyed the view...
Great friendly staff, a great place to enjoy your food outside by the water. Amazing food, they offer the best fries.
Great spot on the water with a little adjacent stand that serves local craft beer. Lobster roll and fries was amazing. Lobster poutine was even more delish. Ladies who run this wee joint were charming and aiming to please the patrons. Highly recommend if u drop into Charlottetown.????
Wonderful service delicious food it was a fantastic experience
Really enjoyed The Chip Shack. Food and atmosphere were great. Sit down and share a picnic table with someone and have a conversation. Staff are super friendly. It took 40 minutes for our meal...but that just shows you how good it is. We just walked around and came back and our food was ready.
(Translated) The fries were excellent! I will go back there for enough Deep fried cheese curds and poutine! (Original) Les frites étaient excellentes! Je vais y retourner pour assez les Deep fried cheese curds et la poutine!
Nice relaxing picnic table area to eat at out front. The service is quick and friendly. Locals are also eat here. There are gluten-free options in the menu. Specials from the chef - the lobster roll and their apple fries which are served with cinnamon!
The best lobster rolls we tasted on our Maritimes road trip. We delayed a road trip back home by an hour and a half just so we can get another lobster roll for the road.
Awesome location, excellent service and great prices. I had the lobster roll with fries and an order of apple fries with caramel dip. The roll and fries were very good. The apple fries were wicked. I can't believe I've never seen these any where else.
Gluten free fish and chips!!! And only $10?!?!
First of all, I wish I took pictures, buy the moment you get your food, you can't help but to dig in right away. Karen (the owner) is so down to earth and engaging with all her guests. All the pictures you see on here are true to what you get. No gimmicks, just amazing food. Everything is sourced locally from the fries, lobster, to the sausage (local butcher). She has her homemade chili and just everything here just screams I love from city and I love good food. Locals and visitors a must visit
If you are reading this, stop here and go to the Shack, order the fish and chips and finish with the apple fries. Hands down, the best fish and chips I've ever had. They are gluten friendly, and you will never know the difference in the batter. The food was outrageously good, I will never hesitate to recommend this place to anyone visiting the city.
I think they can be improved a bit more in taste and a little more improvement in hygiene, staff is courteous though.
Amazing!!! Great prices and incredibly friendly and good service despite being busy. Had the lobster poutine and fish and chips, both delicious. And the PEI potatoe fries were the best we have had in the east.
Best fries I've eaten on the island and the lobster rolls were not bad as well ! There are a few picnic tables but they are not covered in case on bad weather !
Food was amazing. Best fries we’ve had while in PEI! I would highly recommend the pulled pork dog too. The owner was very friendly and willing to offer advice about the local area.
Friendly and fast service. Delicious food.
The lobster poutine is perfection!!! Great service, food and prices.
(Translated) This little "gargote" deserves its reputation as the best plate of lobter roll and fries in town. The value for money is unbeatable and the staff are very friendly. The poutine is also excellent - to be taken with the lobster roll for a little extra. Only downside - the limited places to eat and the wait ... which is still worth the trouble and the trip. The food is delicious.. it’s unfortunate that the customer service is awful. I asked for a second plate because I was sharing the meal with my daughter and I was met with huffing. They wouldn’t give us salt and pepper because they said it was salted. I also asked for a fork and they gave me a popsicle stick because they already gave us a plastic for. Unfortunate customer service for sure.
Yummy! Fish was good!
The lobster poutine is even more amazing than it sounds. Seriously took everything in me not to lick the plate when I was done! The service was awesome and I highly recommend if you're in the area, this is absolutely worth the stop!! I'm still drooling....
We were in Charlottetown on a rainy day in late September, a time of year when many stores start to close for the season and the Chip Shack's page said they would be open only when weather permits. We called the Chip Shack's phone number to see if they were open. The owner answered from home and we were not surprised to hear that they weren't planning to open that day due to weather. We were a little disappointed to miss their famous fries, and said we'd try to make it there on a future trip. About 20 minutes later my phone rang. It was the Chip Shack! Letting us know they'd had a change of heart and decided to open up for the day as the weather had improved some. We we're stunned by the courtesy of the call-back, and wondered if they couldn't bear to let a customer leave town disappointed. We headed on down and were happy to find a short line of patrons who were also happy they had opened that day. While we waited for our food we chatted with the owner, Caron, who was a delight. 5 stars were earned before the food even came out, but the food was excellent too. We had fish and chips and the lobster roll. The fries really are something to write home about.
Best chips we’ve ever had
Best lobster poutine ever
Wonderful to visit at the Chip Shack
Great little spot with really good fries. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting PEI and would go back again and again to enjoy their poutine and fish and chips!
The very best fish and chips you will ever try! The batter is so crispy yet light and holy cow the fish is so so so tender! And of course the potatoes are flawless and perfect as well. Their apple fries are really good as well! Wow wow wow!
Absolutely wonderful ????
Great place to eat! Best fries!
Love it. Stoped by for some fries, friendly service, delicious hand cut fries. Will be back!
The fries were perfectly cooked and garlic dipping sauce was good too. The owner was amazingly nice and welcoming.
Best fries in P.E.I.
The BEST fries Ive ever had! The deep friend cheese curds were also to die for!
(Translated) It's cheap and delicious. It's not on the menu, but please eat an apple pie. It's best to eat the stick-fried apples with cinnamon and the honey dip that comes with them. Of course, lobster sandwiches are a must-eat item.
This is such a cool place on a floating dock licensed so you can have a local beer on the water. The food was good but they were busy and ended up really slow. I think given the size of the kitchen the menu is too big which will kill the timing if the wrong combination of orders hits the kitchen at the same time.
By far the worst meal I have had in all my years in PEI. The lobster roll tasted like other fish, the fries were burnt and greasy, and it was expensive! I would not recommend to anyone and would have appreciated a refund!
Loved the "Gluten free fish and chips". Worth the 5 year wait to eat 'breaded' fish again!!! The gluten/wheat free 'breading' is absolutely delicious! A vacation must stop!!
Fantastic poutine and such friendly service. We thoroughly enjoyed!!
We are locals, and I had a lobster roll, mushy and tasteless, very disappointed as we were originally going somewhere else..I am very annoyed and embarassed that tourists would think this was what our island lobster roll are like!! I couldn’t even finish it and I love fresh lobster, this wasn’t fresh! You need to do something about this...I won’t be back!
Great lobster roll and poutine. Really friendly and upbeat service. Very good value.
A fun an positive business with amazing friendly staff. Yes, it can be busy but what great-to-eat place isn’t busy. Plan to visit. You will not be disappointed.
lovely place and the lady who was there was super nice! highly recommend this place if you're in the area!
(Translated) The fries were really good! We enjoyed it. (Original) Les frites étaient vraiment très bonnes ! Nous avons bien aimé.
Friendly staff was a plus. But the amount of lobster in the lobster roll is embarrassing. They barely put it in the roll so it looks like a huge amount until you bite into it and realize it’s a trick. Go elsewhere for your lobster roll.
(Translated) Very good fries. Good location at the port. (Original) Sehr gute Pommes. Gute Lage am Hafen.
I went back because I was so impressed with the food the last time. This time, though, my fish and chips was the size of a fish stick ????. Still good, just not enough. They could use some more seating too. It was super busy and there just wasn't enough room for everyone.
Must say it was a busy time when we arrived. But while waiting we watched as the person in the front put hot dogs, etc on to cook, wrote something down, went to fridge and moved some items around, closed fridge, took lobster Roll and pushed in lobster with finger, hand it off then pick up our hot dogs, and buns, all with her fingers and put them together. No gloves and not washing her hands once. I won't be back.
Good fries (not the best in Canada as I've seen advertised) but the venue location can't be beat. And the food is good (they have Slushie Vodka options in the bar shack next door.
Overcooked and ok fries. Needs to pass crown to boom burger in Cavendish for best fries on the island
Great value. Great taste. Great service. Celiac safe!
Shame. Lobster Roll was good but they don’t take credit and won’t convert US thus you pay 25% extra.
One of the best fish n chips I have ever had!
Currently waiting on my pulled pork poutine for the second time here this week, hands down best poutine I've had, the energy she gives off is amazing, wonderful spirit and amazing customer service!!
