Excellent service all around, beautiful establishment with delicious food. I would highly recommend. We sat on the outdoor patio on a georgous day and truly enjoyed it!
bought some lobsters here, super tasty !
Happy with the experience. Food came out fast, the fish and chips were beautifully done and the seasoning on all our food were on point.
Amazing restaurant with great food
The McDonalds of all Lobster restaurants in Charlottetown. Food overpriced, portions were too small for price, quality of food questionable and the service was mediocre. We asked for something to come out first, it came out second. Then we sat in between apps for 15 minutes with no drinks or refills or worry about refills. Also, asked for malt vinegar and for the first time in my life the vinegar was brought out in a little cup. (Guess what, it wasn't malt. It was regular.) This place is here and taking advantage of being smack dab right in the middle of the Harbour-front and at the front door step of cruise ships. They are not running this place for return visits. Just to take your money and run! I would not recommend this place to anyone!
Quickly seated despite the huge dinner crowd. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Everything was fresh and delicious; lobster was great, and sides (beans and potatoes) were locally sourced. We sat outside on the patio while the sun was setting, and the view was beautiful. A must for a visit to Charlottetown!
We dined at this location, lobster is priced at $35 at the moment. Lobster mac and chess comes with lobster claw meat only apprently. Seems like that dont put lobster tail in there. Huh. There were flies every where while we dine, and also a bee landed on my food. The server did take care of it by replacing my bread, but the flies were still very annoying till the end of our lunch. P.S. We were the only one dinning at that moment, wonder why.
The food was very tasty but I concur with some other reviews that the service was slow for a big group. The location is excellent though with a great view of Charlottetown Harbour. The calamari was some of the best I've had. Sides were very average.
Overpriced for what you get. Staff was friendly and service was fast and efficient, but, there are less expensive options that are more delicious. We had the lobster roll and the lobster mac and cheese. The roll was not very good while the mac and cheese was just ok.
Tasty seafood and absolutely wonderful service from Brian and some other staff. It's an amazing restaurant and there is a beautiful view. Would definitely recommend this place.
Restaurant is well situated in the downtown district and had great views of the harbour. Service was great, our waiter was fairly new but very attentive and courteous. Food was good, had the fish and chips and fish tacos, batter was a bit heavy on the fish and chips.
Nice location with outside seating. The seafood menu is really varied. I'd go again
Very tasty food, the portions are spot on, the service was fast and the server was very kind, will definitely be back!
Excellent atmosphere, Right close to the ships docking. Food was delicious and the people were excellent. If I'm back on this cruise again, I'll be back
We were accommodated on a very busy night which we were grateful for with two young children. It was evident that they were extremely under staffed but that didn't stop our server GG from providing amazing service. She was friendly and was very gracious to our 3 year old daughter who is quite chatty. She checked in often and offered her advice on the menu. My husband got the lobster Mac and cheese and said it was great and they were generous with the lobster. The lobster roll was well received by my mother as well. I got the crab cakes and I wasn't a fan. The spices over powered the taste and I found them grainy and dry. I wish I had chosen something else. We shared the salted caramel torte and didn't really like it either. Save the calories.
The mussel appetizer was very good. Unfortunately nothing else measured up. We did have a nice server which is why this review is getting a three, but unless you are there to enjoy the view or looking for the closest meal off the cruise ship don’t bother. I sure didn’t notice any locals eating here.
Yummy!
Very Very bad experience No taste, no service, the food came after hour and half and restaurant was not busy. They even neglected our comments Small portion compated to what we paid.
Busy place. We really enjoyed our meal and the server was good. The best part of the night though was the bus person who really hustled!
Food was ok and service was horrible! The drinks were good.
This place is just wonderful especially on a bright sunny day. The patio is on the pier and you can over look the water while drinking an ice cold beer! I had the lobster and it was fantastic! The staff was so friendly and polite, I truly …
Great spot right on the water. Food was fresh, tasty and portioned well.
Great view of the harbor and amazing service. It was a little pricy as I ended up paying $49+tax+tip for a 1.5lbs lobster dinner, which was just a lobster with garlic butter and fries.
I'm giving 3.5 for this. Food were not as good as expected. The oyster isn't cold; I'm not sure if that's their style for serving oyster in such temperature. I'm feeling that the Fish & Chips taste better than the lobster... I mean with this price, I expect a little more than this... Our server wasn't that attentive.
Had a great time with the family. Nice fresh seafood
Great food, fantastic ambiance, amazing service - nice, typical friendly staff!! Prices are a little steep, but you only get what you pay for.....????????
GREAT PLACE RIDE ON THE WATER"S EDGE....FANTASTIC FOOD!
This is not a cheap restaurant but it's well worth the spend. I paid the same as a restaurant in Shediac and this was by far more delicious and nice. Kudos to our server Andrew who was very attentive and who recommended me the Wharf Burger.
It was delicious! Simply one of the best seafood restaurants in Prince Edward Island. Their menu is amazing and the options are great. Prices are great compared to the food portion and the food melted in my mouth. Pay them a visit; weather it's an occasion or just your day off work, it'll make your day.
Saw David Suzuki here. Food was pretty good. Staff was super nice, too. Loved the back patio that has some great views while you eat. It gets chilly out there in the evening, but the restaurant had blankets and hot chocolate.
Our First lobster in PEI, great experience! Very fair price in a premium location downtown Charlottetown!
This restaurant is the best in PEI. We had a very good time and the service was so good and made it so special. We were a group of 12 people and each and every one was so personally treated. The food was amazing and the Lobster is soooooo good. I recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting PEI.
Really enjoyed this place. Food was delicious and good portion size. I found it good value for the money with a prime viewing location.
The sea food pot pie is well worth the asking price. Its full of lobster and flavor !
So good! We shared some oysters to start which were amazing. Then went for the 2lb lobster which was absolutely delicious. (Boyfriend had a baked lobster with some kind of mushroom stuffing and said it was very good) Our server was very nice. Will definitely go back next time we are in PEI!
Last meal in PEI on the last day of our vacation. And we couldn't have been happier. My husband ordered the seafood chowder. I'm not a chowder fan, however he insisted I needed to try it. Wow is all I can say! Bryan our server brought an extra roll that I happily used it to sop up some of the broth. It's a must try! Next up he had the seafood pot pie. It was topped with a mouthwatering puff pastry. I had my standby meal....lobster roll. I was not disappointed! Be sure to go during the summer months....Bryan said they get cruise ships in on a daily basis. How exciting - people from all over the world popping in while you enjoy the incredible view and amazing food.
Unfortunately I had a bad reception by the old owner, I think he was having a bad day I don’t know but after I meet the new owner oh my God, she is amazing and her husband was super friendly and he makes the best he could to find our spot in the best view that’s he could. Amazing food, taste is simply delicious. O will be back for sure.
Awesome view of you choose their patio! Their lobster and crab dip was outstanding and overall experience was great!
Great seafood, the lobster is especially good.
Clean friendly and nice view. Food was good. Service not so great, as not so busy at time I went. Lobster sandwich meat was cold not what I expected. Should've chose something else.
The lobster roll had the most lobster on it of the places we've tried so far. And the chowder, to die for.
Absolutely amazing restaurant with tasty food especially Sea food! Enjoyed my meal ????
Fantastic location, great food Outstanding location and views, we got a window seat on a bright sunny day and it was heaven. This is a tourist area so it’s not really value priced but the offerings are solid. We had some huge, well shucked oysters, good seafood chowder and a 2 pound lobster which was fantastic. I had the fried clams, not the best value on the menu. The kids meals are very affordable and high value (comes with drink and dessert). If you are visiting PEI this is a great place to go right on the water.
Very bad service. TOO LATE to get the food more than an hour and half while we were almost alone in the place. Careless server. Food was below normal. Very expensive for the quality served.
Super friendly staff. Great tasting food and amazing vibe.
Absolutely loved it! A great way to experience PEI- locally sourced seafoods and locally crafted beer and soda. Food is reasonably priced.
Had lunch here with my adult son the other day. It was a nice experience and the food was enjoyable. The lobster was quite pricey (market rates) so we split one 1 1/4 lobster and fish and chips, and it was enough food for us. Service was ok, but no better than that. It was a nice experience but not one I’d be inclined to repeat.
It's located directly on the water and has good options for food and drinks
Love the place and their food is amazing and reasonable price!
Bam, best lobster roll ever. Better still everything there is great.
Our first stop on PEI and it was fantastic! My husband got the lobster roll and compared all other potato salads to this one. My mussels were good, slightly overcooked.
Cheap and nice view
10/10, very good experience, would visit again
Very nice, convenient location with excellent seafood options. My wife loved the seafood pot pie. Can't say as I blame here. Chunks of crab, lobster, shrimp, fish and scallops. I thought the haddock was fresh and very good. Nice selection of beers and wines. There is outside seating and also inside accommodations. The staff was friendly and attentive and the prices were reasonable.
This was our first experience, see a live lobster before cook. Friendly and kind waiters. The food was delicious!!!
The food here was amazing. Wife and I went there for some great local seafood and they had everything we wanted to try. The staff was super friendly and on point. Would go back again.
Starting with the ridiculous price, we felt scammed. $157 for two lobsters of a little under 2lbs and two Corona beers? I checked the marketplace prices and there is no way a lobster of that weight could cost $70 each. It was also an OK lobster, not excelent or different. And the table smelled. We had to sit inside because of the wasps, acc to the person who welcomed us there. I would suggest asking for the price of your dish before ordering.
It was rough times. Had a reservation for 630. Sat and wasn't seen for 20 minutes, didn't even stay, family of 5 . Another table there before us wasn't seen. Was really excited to try it also but just wasn't there day.
Fresh seafood, good service, and great company was what I wanted and what I got for the most part. As a group of four adults two of us ordered the lobster bisque. The other two ordered appetizers. Consensus was the bisque was a little thin and flavour just slightly lacking for our taste however copious amounts of lobster chunks made up for it any disappointment. The lobster claw appetizer and was delicious and well worth the cost. The crab cakes were also a huge hit. Our lan lover had a steak - about average. Two of us built our own trio player and other than cost due to what we order extremely happy. The last had the halibut and again was extremely satisfied. Portions were good and prices were market rates.
Great restaurant experience on the water. Sat on their deck built on top of the water. Very unique!! Haddock tacos were excellent & the staff were very friendly & knowledgeable about local history & attractions to see. Would highly recommend anyone to visit this beautiful restaurant.
Was seated and then ignored and place wasn't busy. Average food bad service
Great food, great view
Excellent place with great staff.
The service was excellent, food was excellent and the location is fantastic
We dined at this restaurant while in Charlottetown this summer. The outside patio is beautiful with an amazing waterfront view. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They offer assistance on how to eat a lobster if you have never done so. Food was well prepared and reasonably priced. Family friendly establishment or a great date night spot!
We showed up around 2pm. Beautiful location right next to the water. Patio outside. They were not too familiar with celiac but I was able to find some seafood safe to eat. Great service and food!
Terrible experience. Went there with my mom to try some PEI seafood. First of all, the servers did not have a great attitude, no smile and slow. Secondly, steamed clams were not fresh, two out of a dozen were dead before cook, which brought smelly taste to all. And I told the waiter the problem, he just said "Sorry about that" and without any solution. Until I saw the bill with 10% deduction on the steamed clams, which is like a dollar and something. We also ordered a steak, I requested median rare but it came with a way more tougher texture, hard to chew. And last thing, the FLIES were so ANNOYING! They were flying towards people and food, kept distracting us from eating and not clean at all! Won't come back and won't recommend anyone to go!!!
Tried the bacon wrapped scallops, mussels, and their lobster dinner. It all lived up to my expectations. The lobster was perfectly cooked as was the scallops. Staff were friendly and quick. Couple local selections on tap.
Great seafood. Great location with deck overlooking harbour. Wonderful service in an unpretentious setting. Never seen so many lobsters being served so must be good.
Omgosh. No offence but the food isn't that great for the prices they charge. Crab cakes tasted like a mouthful of curry. There was a piece of paper cardboard in the coleslaw. The Mac and cheese tasted like canned seafood. Not a great experience. However... the server was super friendly, a little klutsy, but friendly. Made the experience a bit better.
The seafood was OK. Waitress was awesome! Desserts were not very good. Very nice sitting out on the wharf on a warm sunny night. …
Definetely no complaints here. The service, the food, the drinks, all great. This was an amazing stop on our trip to PEI. Plus getting to sit in a room surrounded by windows with a beautiful view of the warf! This is a highly recommended spot from me!
Really good lobster roll, the chowder delicious, but the half plate too small. I recommend also the clams that are enormous size and really really good taste. The stuff nice and friendly!
We decided on lunch here based on a local recommendation and were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and great hosts and you cannot beat the location outside on the patio on the water! The restaurant has a good kids menu (love that there is a healthy steamed veggies side option) which was key for us with two children under 9. Highly recommend the tomato vegetable soup and the haddock tacos and the Caesar salad with lobster was equally amazing.
Had late lunch with friends who live here in PEI, had seafood platter. What a disappointment 3 small scallops, 2 skewers of shrimps (small), 1 small lobster tail. Food was cold and the butter was not hot. For $60. What a total waste of time and Money. Had better Seafood platter in Ontario. Try another restaurant.
Pros: good view, good service, good music. Cons: overpriced for the portions they serve. E.g.: the cheeseburger had the same size beef patties as a fast-food burgers. About $15 (Canadian) for fast food burgers? No thanks.
They were super helpful to our large party of 7. Even when something didn’t go right they really made it better for us. Great food and staff.
The food is alright. The clams and mussel is decent. The clam has a lot of sands. So be aware of it. The lobster roll is great but it is not fully loaded. The surf and turf is great too. But not the best I have tried. The service and ambient is excellent
Stopped here quickly for a bite to eat and a quick drink. Food was delicious and the views were amazing. Really enjoyed our time here
I had the fish tacos and it was genuinely some of the best fish I've ever had. Huge shoutout to Tony the server who made our experience even more amazing, I would give him 10 stars if I could :)
This review was meant to be posted two years ago in summer of 2017. Read and heard good things about this place. We went in, we dined, food was uninspired and bland. Lobster roll was unimpressive. Our host was making it sound like they were at capacity, so they could just barely fit us in. Would’ve done us a favour if they sent us away. I’m sure others will like this place, ultimately; it’s not for me.
Overall mediocre. Kind of disappointed. I had sampler of lobster tail, scallops and crab cakes and seafood chowder. Lobster was tough like over cooked, scallops were very small and soup was lukewarm at best. Husband had burger that came out cold. I was surprised because the restaurant was basically empty at 645 on a Sunday evening, and the reviews were mostly good. Maybe better during high season.
Tried the rice bowl which was amazing. The crab cakes and the tacos were good. Dessert menu meant they brought a selection of the desserts to the table for us to choose; something I have never seen anywhere else. Clay our server was great. All in all, a good experience.
Great staff, helpful and informative.
Fantastic service, great food! We got a chowder that made my taste buds happy; it came with a super-fresh bun from a nearby bakery. And the seafood platter was amazing - in both taste and presentation. Unfortunately, it was dark and raining outside, but I am sure that in a good weather the view of the harbour from the panoramic windows - or better yet, from the patio - is nothing short of breathing. Add a local brew to the mix, and you'll a hallmark PEI experience.
Excellent Mussels and Lobster. Such a mouth watering dinner Had to wait 45 minutes when they weren't real busy but we had a party of 5. Highly recommend this restaurant!!
Great food and service. You can't beat fresh and locally owned. The views of the Charlottetown harbour are awesome as well.
Lobster at a good price that's delicious
We very much enjoyed our lobster dinners. The staff were very friendly and polite. The food arrived in a timely manner even though it was suppertime. My favourite side was the mustard pickles!
Today, I waited some 20 minutes in line only to be informed they were not seating anymore guests as they were full. When myself and another gentleman asked about a wait list the hostess said no she saw no reason to start one we could stand in line on a first come basis. When we asked about how long the wait time was she shrugged her shoulders and said maybe 20 to 30 minutes I took my party of five and left. Clearly they have no clue how to run a restaurant or treat customers I never plan to return
Great CS and the food delicious and fresh.
Excellent service, all staff were friendly and nice. We had mussel on the wharf as an appetizer, that was sautéed in white wine, butter, onion and garlic. Very tasty. Lobster roll was ok. I asked our server to have a dessert menu and instead of a menu, she brought a tray with all different kinds of cake that they have, so we could see all the options. They have english and Chinese menu.
Yummy Lobster and Amazing Food. Service was slightly slow ( They were constantly missing cutleries )
Located just off of the downtown area with lots of parking and open later than most other places in town, I'd highly recommend it. Many options both food and drink, all looked fresh and our plates were great. Well priced, the fish and chips came with 2 large pieces of fish, very filling. We had an appetizer caesar salad, which was a little dry. Cozy East-coast atmosphere, very professional staff, and a short wait time.
It’s really delicious and fresh. A little bit high price.
Overall, everything was fine. Nothing exceptional either way. Expect a slow service though, so either being good company or bring something to do or read during the downtime.
I have been to the Lobster Wharf on numerous ocassions. Last night was a very disappointing experience. I had the lobster roll and was very disappointed . It was on a hot dog bun and no flavour and tasted no mayonnaise on this roll. My friend had the lobster poutine and commented that the lobster had no flavour. Totally didn't understand since the lobster season just opened. We asked the server why no flavour and he mentioned the lobster was kept in the oven. The service was excellent.
Friendly staff. Restaurant was nothing fancy. I’m not sure what I was expecting but it wasn’t like a big chunk on lobster. I got the lazy lobster and wouldn’t recommend, my husband got the lobster Mac and cheese and would recommend. It was good to try while we were there
You need to have lunch or dinner at this Restaurant....the Clam Chowder is to die for...the fresh biscuits...and the bacon maple butter to go on them is amazing...the prices are great for being on the Island...Please enjoy your meal on the water ....a 5 for me...hope you enjoy...also a fish market attached????
The food and service was excellent, we had the lobster Mac and cheese, sea food pot pie & seafood chowder which was packed with seafood. Only reason it’s not a 5 star is because of the 40min wait and the restaurant down stairs didn’t look that busy. Worth the wait though!
Server was the very best ever. It's definitely a happy place to eat lunch or dinner. Greatly recommended to everyone.
We came here on a family vacation & what an absolutely amazing restaurant. The lobsters were to die for, seafood chowder was delicious. The most memorable part of this experience was our waiter Tony. He went above and beyond to make our experience fun and definitely something we will not forget. Alot of servers could learn from him :-)
I order dozens of Lobsters & Oysters from here every Summer shipped to Toronto, Ont. They are The Best, Freshest, Tastiest Lobsters & Oysters. They arrived the next day ! THANK YOU Lobster of the Wharf Can't wait to order again from you and come visit in Person for more of your Delicious Food, Everyone there is SO Nice
Fantastic. Service was amazing! And had a great view!
Like it. Nice waitress. Not long waiting for the dishes. Lobsters were cooked perfectly.
Please avoid! There are so many better restaurants on the island. This was SO expensive and very poor quality food. They served FROZEN fries.. in PEI!!! Server was nice but took forever!! Lobster roll was gross. All bun..
Last day before closing until May, 2022. So glad to experience. I wouldn't get tye double Lobster meat in Lobster roll. Single serve is fine. Coleslaw tasty. French Fries good as well. Casual dress, not fancy but fairly reasonable price wise.
Skip it, tourist trap that is so expensive. They are offering food at the prices of a high end restaurant, and no where near that calibre. The $5 plastic chairs that are on the patio are incredibly uncomfortable. The service we had wasn't great. Check out the more traditional lobster dinners elsewhere, if you're looking for lobster.
Shipped some lobster to my family in Ontario and it got there in 24 hours, just amazing service. Great staff, friendly and true to thier business.
Some of the dishes we ordered were great and some others, just okay. But the reason for the three stars is the speed of the service. It was actually not that busy (we visited at around 3:00pm); however it took a looooooooooooong time to get our food and once we finally did, we still had to wait 15 minutes more (whilst our food got soggy and cold) for utensils or condiments we needed to eat that food with. Our server was very nice, but not very efficient. And food was good, but the wait does not make it worth it.
Waited Waited Waited We sat at our table and no one came and gave us water or took our order for 25 minutes. When leaving, the manger asked if we love our meal... We left telling her we never got served.
Reasonable price.
Attended here the other day for a lobster roll. I took it as take out but ate it outside the restaurant. It wasn't flavourful at all. Very bland. I won't be back.
Paid 71.00 for dinner for I person left hungry only good thing about the place was my waitress gigi
Had high expectations but the overpriced lobster fell short. Pretty bland and lacked anything really, feeling like it was just a boiled lobster... Lobster tail was okay but if your lobster is in the name of the restaurant, expectations will be high. Plus side: dog friendly, on the actual patio with a view. Oysters were good.
We ordered the lobster meal that for two. We each had 2 pounds of lobster and we shared the mussels entree plus 2 sides each. Our waiter Clay was attentive as well as the other wait staff. It was an enjoyable and delicious experience.
We had a good view of the wharf from the second floor patio. Our server was more than happy to speak with us about the island and our home town
Mussels were too small, and the service was not the best. We wanted to eat outside but they placed us inside. I insisted to go out and a lady told me that it was cold. I still insisted and she asked me if I had a coat. Believe me that it was not needed, the day was very nice.
2 lb lobster at the Keg in Vancouver...$58.00. 2 lb lobster at Lobster on the wharf in Charlettown PEI... $59.00.. Go figure !!! We ordered them anyway and they were grand. Great location and service. My 87 year old mother tied into one with a vengeance, claw cracker flashing... she didn't come up for air until it was almost done! Bread Pudding with a brown sugar sauce is excellent as well. Lovely lunch ! P.S. The waitress talked us into trying the liver. Although we were somewhat hesitant, we gave them a go. They tasted like the fresh ocean smells...fabulous.We were very appreciative for the recommendation.
Great service and amazing recipes. Had a great lobster poutine with lots of lobster and cheese as fish tacos that were unique but well done.
Had a delicious lobster dinner experience here the other day! Our server Dave, was a phenomenal waiter, he showed us how to eat the lobster as we never have, and was super helpful with everything, even telling us how fresh the restaurant keeps the lobster till the last minute so we can get the beet experience! Great place to eat and extremely friendly staff!
Went there for dinner on September 21 2021, omg very expensive lobsters over cook over priced scallops tasted nothing my sangria diluted into to munch ice one star for the view
Finally did my traditional maritime lobster supper! It was very good.
Myself and my partner ate here last week. Even though my full lobster was cooked to perfection my partners meal was horrible. Her steak was tough, and smelled. Clam chowder was runny. Roasted potatoes were dried out. Salads were not homemade thats for sure. There was no one else in the restaurant so this should have been our warning sign. This restaurant had great reviews, so this is why we went. We would not recommend and will not go again. Maybe it was a happening place before Covid, but it sure isn't now.
It is a bit pricey but the food is very good. Servicr is reasonable. They also have a little seafood market that you can buy there or ship it to other provinces.
AWESOME place to buy fresh lobster. was the best I ever had !! counter staff was super helpful
Great service, serving size was smaller than expected
Nice view and good food & service....
Amazing experience.
Highly recommended ????????
Tasty fresh oysters and chowder. And a great view of the Charlottetown harbour.
The food here is amazing. Our server Clay was so funny and personable! The pricing was very fair. The carrot cake is exceptional.
Nice place warm atmosphere it was too dark but the view should be lovely outside. I had the smal chowder very nice and taste and above all I had the steamed lobster you can choose the size and they provide you all the tools and even the instructions on the mat. The price fair and honest.I raccomebd this place.
Deck was a pleasant experience & the food was 4 out of 5
Nice scenic view on top terrace. Crab cakes fairly bland. Fish taco plate was ok sides of potato salad and coke slaw was enjoyed. Fish and chips were ok. My daughter likes her cheeseburger. Calamari was also fairly good. Service was very good.
A great restaurant located on the warf with beautiful views of the water. You can inside an look out the wall of windows or eat on the large patio right over the water. The staff were friendly, professional yet down to earth. Great selection of seafood, stuff for children and steaks and chicken for non shellfish eaters like myself.
The main differentiator among other restaurants would be the outside seating right above the sea, which is amazing - great area to enjoy the sunlight with cool breeze. The food was ok - we ordered lobster bisque (not good), seafood platter (which was decent but average), and fish n chips (which was surprisingly good).
This restaurant is amazing and fressh. The left half is a live seafood market. Everything is delicioous , the chowder was the best i have ever had. Great atmosphere and ambience. Would not recommend sitting outside during the evening but everything else is solid
A must stop in PEI. The view captures the true beauty of the island with an outdoor patio on the water and indoor seating lining the many windows overlooking the Charlottetown Harbour. You can taste the freshness of the seafood and the portion sizes are extremely generous. Will definitely return.
The patio view and friendly staff could not be enough to balance the incredibly lengthy wait times for food and the subpar food quality. We got the oysters which were okay; delicious and fresh, but kind of wimpy in size for what they were. We got the fish tacos and while the haddock was alright, the taco itself was overloaded with cheese and lacked flavour save for a kick of spice from the sauce. Was it the worst meal in the world? No (the potato salad side was actually quite good). But would we go again or recommend a friend to go? No. Summary: One star for the patio. One star for the staff. And no stars for the food. You have so much potential to be more Lobster On The Wharf!!
Very good seafood restaurant with an even better location. Views of the harbor and the park outside. Good drink selection and the food was really good. I had a build your own plate with crab cakes, bacon wrapped scallops, and a grilled lobster tail. The crab cakes were my favorite. Scallops were delicious, but smaller than I expected.
We had the fastest and friendliest service on the island yet! We sampled the crab cakes, fresh veggies, fish and chips and calamari....everything was cooked perfectly, and served promptly by our server Dave. The view was incredible. We have our 3 year old son with us and our sever was attentive to him, quickly bringing entertainment and engaging him with lots of conversation. Totally recommend going here!
Great food. Love the freshly bake biscuits there. Also, Great view.
Travelled from BC to PEI on vacation. Went to dinner here tonight and unfortunately did not have a good experience. Our server GIGI though polite just wasn’t really there. She didn’t come back to check on us, had to ask other passer by servers for things. Ordered the Lobster mac and cheese, Lobster poutine and the Lobster and Crab dip duo. The duo dips were the best very tasty. The other 2 dishes something was wrong with the lobster. Have been eating Lobster at various places for 5 days straight every day. This was not good lobster. The mac and cheese right on the first bite turned me off as it was very “fishy” same with the lobster poutine, everything but the actual lobster bits were good but each bite of lobster meat that came into our mouth was “very fishy” Fresh lobster should not taste like fish nor smell like it. We know our fish. We were quite disappointed and left all the lobster bits and ate the rest and just got out of there. Location was great with nice views. I just wish the lobster tasted better.
Great food and so considerate of my allergies. It is always a struggle for me to find a restaurant that has options for me (I am allergic to gluten, nuts, pork, and seafood). The waitress worked so hard to make sure I could have an enjoyable, safe meal. Beautiful views of the harbor as well!
BEST fish and chips I have ever had in my life! And I am 57 lol! We have tried fish and chips everyday while visiting Eastern Canada and without a doubt this is the best! Thanks Chef Paul! Excellent staff, friendly and helpful
Restaurant was busy and servers seemed to be running around with little time for customer service. We waited for our order to be taken then waited for the drinks and food to be served. The food was good after waiting on hour to get it but the server forgot our utensils and was nowhere to be seen for us to ask for them. Overall a poor experience I would not recommend going. When leaving the hostess said they were short staffed like all restaurants this year I just wish she had told us that going in and we would have chosen not to waist our time. Don't fill your Restaurant if you don't have enough staff to provide excellent service. Seat only the number of tables you can serve well to ensure happy customers!
Awesome service! Excellent view of the water and great food!
I've waited all my life (we're talking decades) to have my first lobster, caught from the waters of Atlantic Canada and served up fresh. Why? Well being from the prairies I grew up never having it and then as a grown up I vowed that I'd someday do it and do it right. So when me and my friends arrived at LOTW we got seated at a small table (for three men) and so I went back to ask if they had a bigger one. The person that helped reseat us was Jim, the owner. I introduced myself, shook hands and told him basically the same thing. Waited all my life for the real deal and your restaurant tonight is going to be it. Back at our new table it was a busy night and our server was running around trying to serve too many tables. Am sure she was feeling the strain because our service was pretty poor. Just enough time spent to drop things off and take things away. Little attention, little service and a lot of shotgunning her and other passing staff with asks of stuff that had been forgotten. Then the meals came. My friends lobsters looked big and amazing, mine not so much. See the pic below - it was small and shriveled, the last third of it, a deep green. My dinner company was unimpressed. I wouldn't eat that green stuff, my Charlottetown pal said. The first bite was rubbery and tasteless, as was the rest (along with the lobster bisque I had before it). I was able to get about four forkfuls of the tail before all that was left was green. Our server never came back to check on us, so we never had a chance to get a different one. Long, long after the other plates were done the owner came by to ask how my first lobster was. It was alright I said. My buddy chimed in and told the truth. The owner hesitated and then replied that this was how they turned out some times, the green was the roe and that was that. No offer to bring me another, no offer to take it off the bill (it wasn't cheap!), just a brush off of our concern. After a pause of looking at our unimpressed faces, he left...as did we after settling the bill. Two nights later, my local pal went to another restaurant in town and came back with lobster for a second go. Oh man, WHAT a difference!! Moist, succulent, sweet, bursting with flavor and melt in your mouth. Amazing. THAT is what I will tell people was the first lobster in my life. The other one - just plain bad. I'll end this way too-long review with a comparison. I live in near Calgary, in the country. A rural farm-to-table cafe, is just down the road where the owner serves his own farmed beef. If I brought a friend and told him it was my pal's first Alberta steak in her life, the owner would make sure she got a great one. If I asked for that very thing for her, myself, probably even better. Either way, the owner definitely would have told the chefs and almost definitely checked it himself before it hit the table. Mistakes happen. Fixes happen too. But not for this diner. A friendly word to the owner, next time you hear the words 'first lobster ever' - make sure your customer gets a good one.
The food was disgraceful. The chicken was so dry and overcooked, I had a small piece of gravel imbedded in one of my potatoes and the dessert way overcooked and dry. With no cream or icecream. Would never recommend
Lobster on The Wharf is a perfect seafood restaurant right on the water and boardwalk. The view from both the interior and patio are beautiful, it really provides a great view to look at while eating. The food is amazing, the seafood tastes …
Amazing food and great friendly waitress. Will definitely go back again next time we come to the island.
Had decent expectations of this place as the reviews seemed good and we also had a 45 minute wait since it was very busy. Positives - the view was amazing, the fish and chips were good. Negatives - chowder was grainy, service was VERY slow …
Seafood lover's paradise! I did not walk away hungry. The lobster was succulent and the mussels were very fresh. Looking out on the bay as you ate made it a wonderful experience. A great value as well.
5 star to the service. Service was great, our server was very attentive and nice, but I had to give one star (it would be zero if there is option) because of the food. So not fresh, undercooked, cold throughout.
Very bad experience in the restraunt staff were ignoring we waited 2 hours for the food the lobster wasn't even cooked properly it was just steamed well a very bad bad experience I'm soo disappointed
I ordered a Lobster Roll from here... It was the worst lobster roll I tasted on my east coast trip. It was either freezer burnt or over cooked. I couldn't tell but it was terrible. Worst part was that it was more expensive than other surrounding places. I would go back here since there are much better place close by.
I guess this is a signature place in Charlottetown for lobster. The staffs are very organized, our server is also very welcoming and friendly. He explained everything and did his best to make us feel comfortable in this place. No delay of dishes, good quality, clean place & smart & attentive server at our table, what else I can ask for more? The seafood is always in market price, around $60-70 every two lbs.
Delicious meal and awesome service!
Good service. Good food. Good expreience over all.
Good food... service was okay.
we had dinner here as part of a group tour which included either a lobster or steak dinner. the extremely rude waiter informed us that we could not request our steaks (do not eat lobster) to be prepared to our liking. He said that all steaks would come medium rare since we were a large group (there was 19 of us). We asked for one steak to be well done, It came completely black and inedible. I asked for my steak to be medium and it came very well done (it was edible but not tasty. I intend to inform my tour company of my complete dissatisfaction with this restaurant.
Kanada und Lobster-and-Cod.. the one and only
Very good service, friendly people and great seafood. Can't ask for better.
This place offer your very own choice of seafood combo platter which was amazing and absolutely delicious. Our server was hilarious and engaging which added to the fun of our meal. And oh yeah...the view of the harbor ain't too shabby either.
My wife and I both ordered the seafood chowder. Hers was steaming hot. Mine was cold. Told the waiter. He didn't seem to care. He said he would tell the kitchen. I have had better.
Very bad experience The food was very late , cold and tasteless. The waiter was not polite enough to apologize, and no one cared to compensate us for any of this. I do not recommend at all
I had my wedding at Lobster on the Wharf in October, 2019. Steven and Jeremy were absolutely amazing when it came to helping me plan the event, and the restaurant itself was a beautiful venue. We had our ceremony on the upper deck with an amazing view of Charlottetown and the cruise ships. The food was delicious (especially the chowder!), and the service was outstanding. The waitress, whose name is Teagan, was sweet and accommodating to us all night. Couldn't be happier that I chose LOTW for my big day!
Ended my trip out east while eating our last meal here and I would say that it was a big mistake. All our food was tasteless and terrible. The soup had no flavour and was missing …
Excellent service! Fish and chips as well as lobster roll were delicious. Wonderful view . Definitely worth going to! !
Two claws up! Our meal was absolutely delicious. The lobster claws and calamari for starters, we had the platter for dinner and a fabulous bottle of wine. Best meal and service I’ve had in ages. Best mussels I’ve ever had!!
really great sea food
I recommend to anyone to find another place to eat. I did not have lobster here, but considering my experience with other dishes, I'm sure it's barely average. Oysters - poorly shucked with shell pieces on the meat. Fried clams - rubbery like bubble gum, and drowned in bread crumbs and grease; from entire clams dish there is only one third clams and rest is bread crumbs/batter and grease. Chowder - worst I've ever had on PEI, Nova Scotia or New Brunswick - too much flour or starch, it's just average. It is not served with bread or anything else, which made it worse. The only good things were the potatoes and beans, those were quite good. Service is OK. My wife also had scallops and those were good. Edit: we did mention the issue about oysters to our server and did mention that the food was just OK. We are not the type to complain to a manager. However, I frequently call the manager to express my joy and satisfaction with the food and service when it is deserved. This was not the case.
My husband did not like the dry fish and ship at all. My lobster was good (hard to miss). We ordered a Pepsi and a glass of wine for the meal, I have to get up in the middle of my meal because we did not had our drink yet. The little waitress was trying to do her best but I think that here is a major organization problem in this place. The good touch, they gave us some blankets because it was cool on the terrace.
Excellent service, delicious food and a great ambiance! ????
Service was excellent. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Food was excellent. Really loved how the staff treated my gf on the wharf as we where eating, night started to cool off and they brought her a blanket to wrap herself to keep warm. Very thoughtful. Overall very excellent experience. Will definitely go back again.
Food was great, Dave was the best. Hand sanitizers ran out, they didn't refill in time.
Great place to go to!!! Our server was awesome and the deck area was a relaxing environment. I recommend getting their fries with lobster meat. It wont disappoint!!! I will be definitely be coming back to this place whenever Im in town! Come here and enjoy it as much as I have!!!
We decided to try the Lobster at this restaurant since their marketing is good (advertised on every single PEI brochure) and absolutely not disappointed. The lobster is spectacular, they will provide all you need to enjoy the food, recommended to try the clam chowder as well (be aware their medium size is actually small size and the large size is ... actually large ;)), bit pricy though. Free parking, outdoor tables, a lobster market where you can have your selected lobster shipped to your home, good cooked lobster, the staff attention, etc. Worth the visit. Recommended
