A great place to stop for lunch after kayaking the local rivers. The fish and chips were battered perfectly, and the bar clams were fantastic! The service was friendly and the setting very pleasant. Finding a parking spot can be a bit of a challenge, but that was the only drawback.

Best fresh oysters ever. Elegant, silky, full, and are so good that using anything else to flavour it, other than a little bit of lemon would be criminal. Hospitality warm and delightful. Crab dip especially yummy with PEI's homemade kettle chips. Restaurant is pet friendly and welcomed our dog in their outdoor patio.

So we arrived ready to sit down and were waiting on the waitress. My wife needed to use the washroom while we waited. She asked the lady behind the bar inside and she said " washrooms are NOT public" you must sit, THEN u can use it. I had a hard time with needing to sit to prove I would stay. I asked her why my wife couldn't use it and she is scared of people using the washroom w/o paying for food. We found needing to prove ourselves insulting. As a store manager of a large retail store in Charlottetown I wouldn't just walk up to this restaurant. Maybe call ahead so they know your a customer. We ate at the blue mussel. It's worth the wait! Amazing food, had the fish tacos, potato salad, Bar Clams everything was to die for! We got there 15 minutes before they close and felt a warm welcome. The owner came and talked with us. (Translated) Best fish tacos I've eaten in my life. I don't know what they put in their sauce, but it's just too good. Everything is homemade, their sauce, their potato salad, their coleslaw, etc. And it's very close to the bike path (we started from Cavendish by bike) (Original) Meilleur tacos de poissons que j’ai mangé de ma vie. Je ne sais pas ce qu’ils mettent dans leur sauce, mais c’est juste trop bon. Tout est fait maison, leur sauce, leur salade de patate, leur salade de choux, etc. Et c’est très près de la piste cyclable (nous étions parti de Cavendish en vélo)

Beautiful location with SUPER food. We had bar clams and the fish n chips and who boy. Bar clams were big deep fried honkers and the fish was a fresh, light batter with incredible fresh flakey fish inside. And the fries, seasoned with a pepper and salt seasoning were even drool worthy. Highly recommend On the Dock for date night, a Sunday drive drop in, catching up with and old friend or a take out treat.

We specifically asked the server if their seafood chowder had lobster or shrimp in it because my husband is allergic & said it is not severe (no epi pen needed) but causes discomfort so she went to the kitchen, came back and said no so we each ordered a bowl. After he finished it, he went to the washroom, came out all red in the face, eyes red and glassy—obviously having a reaction! Went back to another staff member who then told us there is no shellfish in it but there is lobster juice in it!!! Crustaceans! Not mollusks. Please indicate this on the menu.

Wonderful restaurant in the beautiful village of North Rustico. The restaurant can be hard to find as it is tucked behind another popular restaurant closer to the road. The location is very nice though as it is literally "on the dock". The service is very good. It is a seasonal restaurant, so it can be very busy. The staff told us there would be a slight wait and they fit us in as other patrons left. The food was very good and well priced for a touristy area. You can walk right out of the restaurant onto a small boardwalk that goes out to the harbor. You are also steps away from the main boardwalk in town, some nice little shops and a fantastic beach. Well worth stopping.

Food has improved, well above average. Obvs not competition to some chef-run local restaurants, but it's casual, kid-friendly. The place was clean, not noisy but had nice music playing (not country!) in the background so you don't overhear other people chewing/talking. We didn't wait long for our food at all. Couldn't imagine better service. All the wait staff were so helpful & friendly. Even the teenagers you'd expect to get a "please let this day end" attitude from, were kind, cheerful, attentive yet not overly solicitous. Having waited tables most of my young life & being generally ornery, I pick up on anything negative. I only had the cheeseburger, I'm not a seafood person. The hamburger was a bit overcooked, but I never asked for medium so that's on me. Why isn't this 5 stars? Because no one reads 5 star reviews.

We (4 professional middle-aged women) went there for a drink and appetizers but were not allowed to sit outside in the sun because we weren't getting a meal! We could have sat inside, but it is such a great location on the water. Won't go back because of that treatment. So only go here if you are a family and want a meal, don't go there to spend $!!!

This restaurant is located on the border of a bay and the view is awsome. As soon as you sit, you get into a warm welcome with great staff. From the menu we decided to eat the favorite sea food platter. From the three of us, we can say that we never eated good well presented and fresh seafood like this. Six thumbs up for On the Dock restaurant. At the end of our diner, we met the owner and we can say that the whole environment respect his spirit and warm approach. A great gentleman who asked us if we appreciated our diner and took time with us and showed he cared about us. Finally, we took a walk on the dock observing the clear sky and stars. Excellent 3 hour deep sea fishing in North Rustico. Captain Bob and First Mate Phillip made a very great team on the 45 foot Two Sisters fishing vessel. Caught lots of mackerel and cod (catch and release). A fun time.

Food was very fresh and filling! My husband had a grilled chicken burger and I had the fish tacos. Fries were amazing, kept eating even after we were full. The beer was slightly warm when served, but that may have been due to the abnormally warm weather. Drinks were slightly overpriced but as to be expected at a busy tourist destination.

Beautiful location on the dock at North Rustico harbor. Overlooking the bay enjoy delicious reasonably price food while watching the fishing boats pass by with their local catch. The service was prompt and friendly. The staff were lovely and worked hard to please. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys eating in the outdoor in a comfortable light and enjoyable atmosphere. 10/10 in my books.

We originally planned to eat dinner at Blue Mussel Cafe, and arrived today at 4:15, were told it would be about 20 minutes, and received a pager. At 4:30 (15 minutes later) we were told that the manager said no more people could come in until 5:00 so they could get ready for dinner. We were told if we wanted to wait another 30 minutes (45 minutes total now), we could be the first ones for dinner. They wouldn't honor the original commitment. We walked next door to On The Dock and had an excellent dinner. My wife had the lobster roll with kale salad, and I had the fish and chips. In the end, I think we got the better food, and definitely the better customer service at On The Dock.

What a great place to go - right on the water, great food . We were visiting from Ontario and didn't know what to expect. Pretty cool. It was a bit puzzling as to why they have a mini museum in the restaurant - that space could maybe be better used to seat more customers...or for washrooms that you can access without having to go ask for a key like at a truck stop and then walking around outside the building. Or possibly the space could be used for the kitchen area, and then the current kitchen area could be used for tables with a view of the water. Anyways, despite the odd decisions in the design if the place it's a great place. After sampling the fish cakes I seriously contemplated a career in fish cake smuggling...

Ordered the lobster on a roll and had the side of fries. The lobster was fresh and there were nice sized chunks in the sandwich. Price I can't speak about. It was just under 20 for the order. It was very delicious and the view when eating on the deck was just beautiful.

My wife and I had supper at the On the Dock. Beautiful set-up by the water. The atmosphere was very friendly and the staff very courteous and professional. The chowder was full of large chunks of seafood, and the biscuits were right out of the oven. The service was excellent and very prompt. I would recommend strongly if you visit North Rustico, make a point to experience this restaurant by the water.

Top Food with possibility to reserve a table. The much more famous Restaurant “Blue Mussel“ (directly in front of the On the Dock), has maybe a bigger Menue, but the view from On the Dock is unbeatable. Very friendly staff and very Family friendly!

We like On The Dock. The Sea food could not be more fresh. And it's quality is honored by excellent preparation. You get a most excellent meal. Delivered with tremendous service and a view that rivals any in PEI. Go there and eat! Does not matter what you order (however, I can recommend the lobster sandwich, fish and chips and the mussels) you will be pleased.

Having worked in the industry for years I was genuinely shocked by how we were treated here. We decided to go here for our 1 night out on our weekend getaway and were extremely disappointed. After researching where to go on the island and hearing great things about this place we were very excited to give it a try. We called ahead of time at 6:25pm to see how busy they were and they told us that there might be a short wait as they don’t take reservations but to come on down. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:55pm thinking the restaurant was open until 8 (as listed online) and were met at the door by a very rude waitress who told us they were closing and stopped taking tables at 6:45pm. Not only did no one tell us on the phone that last call was at 6:45pm but they told us to come down to the restaurant. We received no apology, we’re not given any suggestions about where else to go, were not able to order takeout and were essentially ushered out the door. Had we not called ahead we would have been more understanding but there was a complete lack of communication or general concern for customer experience from this establishment. While their prices are reasonable I’d suggest going elsewhere if you can. Good customer service is always worth the few extra bucks.

We were so lucky to find this great spot on the pier at North Rustico Harbour. Wonderful fresh seafood cooked to order by a great PEI cook. Not very large, especially on a rainy day when outside tables are not available but worth any wait. Just great.

We had both the mussels, an order of the tomato chipotle variety and one of the blueberry ale. Both were delicious! We sat on their patio right on the boardwalk with our small puppy and the server was kind enough to give our pup a bowl of water. Would recommend!

First time visit here. The two of us decided to sit outside in the sheltered area. Beautiful spot on the water. Our server was attentive and kept checking on us. Crab dip was our starter with a cool beverage. Our mains were fish and chips for me and a bowl of delicious chowder for my friend. We both had a hard time finishing. In fact I had to leave the best fries ever! This will be my Restaurant of choice in the harbour on my next visit to North Rustico.

There is a bit of a wait (40 minutes in our case, which we were told upon arrival) but it was worth it. All the food we sampled were great - lobster rolls, bar clams, mussels, nachos, even the kale salad that came as a side. The wait staff was super busy but she was very pleasant, patient, and efficient. Enjoyed great views of the harbor while waiting for the food.

We had dinner there last night, Sept 25, 2021, the mussels were very good, I had the fish tacos, amazing, I loved them, real battered fish, the batter was light and crispy, the homemade potato salad scrumptious and the coleslaw excellent, not mushy but crisp with nice long pieces of cabbage and carrots. The whole meal was very satisfying, very filling, didn't have room for dessert! The view of the Harbour was lovely, we sat on the patio. Our server was so pleasant it was really nice to talk with her. Unfortunately they close after today. Next year, we will definitely make On The Dock a must stop. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Finally got around to posting some reviews on the places I ate at in PEI. "On the Dock" was AMAZING! We ate here in September of 2018 during Halibut season. The weather was incredible so we dined outside. First off, the server was so friendly. Secondly and most importantly, the food was incredible!! I dined on Chowder and Fish Cakes...ohhhhh sooooo gooooodddd! As we were dining, Arsenault's fishermen came in with their catch of the day. We were lucky enough to be there while they were pulling the Halibut off the fishing boats and they were HUGE! What an experience that was. I am returning to PEI this summer and will definitely be eating here again. Keep up the great work "On the Dock" all the way from Toronto! C U Soon!

Lovely place to eat on the dock, watch the sun set, boats, birds, etc. The hostess and server were so very nice, friendly and welcoming. The food was awesome, from seafood chowder to beautiful salad, fish and chips, scallop burger. Had the blueberry draft beer, just right. Wonderful experience all around!

Well... when it says on their chalkboard 8pm closing time on a beautiful Friday and refuse to take more customers (us 4 and another couple tried right after) at 745pm. It can be very frustrating. 8pm ?? Why in the world would you close at 8pm on a georgous Friday night ? At least try to accommodate the customer. Definitively not a good way to do business. And yes, the location is amazing, the food ? Absolutely no idea.. Thanks again...
