We went fishing with Rick and were ecstatic with the results. Was looking for a guide who was good with children as this was my grandsons first salmon trip. Could not have gone better. Rick was excellent at teaching and let Tyson (grandson] in on every aspect of fishing. We caught plenty of fish and also enjoyed the scenery. Rick is very knowledgeable and informative. We had three generations of family on this trip and will definitely be useing his services in the future. What a great day.

My wife and I chartered a 5 hour fishing trip with Rick as part of our honeymoon and it was everything we could have hoped for and more. I'd done my research and selected Brightfish based on Rick's experience and personality--both of which come through on his webpage, and in person once you meet him. He achieves that perfect balance of making you feel comfortable the entire trip by offering insights and assistance when appropriate, while also letting you enjoy the experience yourselves without intrusion. The fishing was challenging at first--tons of boats out, huge schools of herring but not a ton of action. We caught and released an undersized salmon, Rick showed us how to gather its data and record it, which was very informative and something more anglers should do to ensure the health of the fishery. The fact that Rick does this reflects his ethical values and practices, and made us feel even better about our decision to fish with him. Throughout the trip Rick was constantly moving the boat, getting us to adjust the depth of the downriggers, taking turns at the wheel, considering all the variables at play, and keeping us informed of his thought process in terms of his fishing strategy. The result was an action-packed finish to our trip where my wife and I each caught big beautiful "keeper" Chinooks, and a ling cod (we had so much fish to take home we had to go buy a cooler from Canadian Tire). To top it all off we even saw a humpback on our way back. We honestly couldn't have scripted a more perfect day on the water and we already decided that it's not a matter of IF we'll book another charter with Rick, but simply WHEN.

Went with Rick based on excellent online reviews on different venues including this one and he did not disappoint. My wife and son weren't sure what to expect having never gone guided salmon fishing before let alone go on a salmon fishing boat and Rick made the trip fun and engaging and we limited out on Chinook salmon. He even spent extra time with us and even bought us all ice cream at the dock! His knowledge and understanding of salmon races and biology, and his commitment as President of the local guides association shows he gives back both to the resource that supports him and he wants to help uphold and improve the experience for his customers. I highly recommend Rick!

Knowledgeable and full of stories and background of the waters; handy between fish hauls. We were first timers but still left with our coolers full of fish, including a 20 pounder! Highly recommended.

I had an incredible fishing experience with captain Rick! We maxed out with our salmon catch for the day! You can tell right away that Rick has tuns of knowledge and experience as if he knew what the salmon were thinking! I recommend everyone to get out on his beautiful grady white boat with 2 down riggers. He is a great guide, easy and down to earth, and let’s you do what you want to do! Can’t wait to get back out there again soon!
