This is normally not our regular pet supply store, but we thought we would go in and have a look. The staff were focused on talking amongst themselves and really difficult to track down when we needed assistance. We finally did get some “help”, but they were unfamiliar with the product. We thought the product was an ingenious idea, a water bowl your pet activates themselves, so we bought it. When we got it home and opened the packaging we found it incomplete. Parts were missing. So we returned the product for a new one. Only to find the parts for every single one they had in the store were missing as well. The parts were sold separately and this store didn’t carry the parts!!! Quite strange!!!!

Nobody acknowledged us when we walked in, no one offered to help us, and we got a few grunts at the till when we paid for our purchase. Not sure what was going on, because usually Ren's staff is friendly, especially when you come in with your pet. All three staff members I saw that night, were not happy nor friendly. I actually chose to go to the Rens in Waterloo instead of Cambridge the next time I needed something due to this experience.

We went to Rens as we had vouchers from registering our pets with Guelph's Docupet. However, thus will become our pet store of choice from now on. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable even in the last 45 mins of store opening. The selection was very good and prices comparable to everywhere else.

I answered their ‘survey’ but decided to write a public review as well. I am normally one to only go out of my way to write positive reviews as I own a small business. Usually I shop from a competitor and drive all the way to the other side of Kitchener, but because a couple weeks ago I stopped in to buy a brand to transition a kitten off of and noticed they carried my brand as well, I had a chat with an employee who suggested perks since I am a registered breeder. Before leaving my home I checked online to see stock and there were 4 boxes available. After waiting outside for my turn, I walked straight to the double freezers of Iron Will to note that they were completely jam packed (hard to move boxes) and completely disorganized (proteins mixed on every shelf with labels facing different directions). I spent a few minutes trying to sift through it and found one box with no more luck. Because my phone was dead I then proceeded to ask an employee if there was any way to check stock levels for me. Her answer was short: What you see is what there is. I kindly noted that I understood but it was hard to sift and I didn’t really want to continue looking for a product that wasn’t there. She turned and remained silent. Within eyesight I then proceeded to pull boxes one by one out of the freezer to try to look having to touch dozens of products during a pandemic. She didn’t bother to ask to help me, nor did she call another employee which there were a few at the till. I understand it is the holidays but immediately after I drove to Global Pets. Not only was I greeted and offered assistance, but also their freezers were organized and easy to access. I would rather drive that distance to be in and out without frustration and get what I need. I am a breeder and not only do I spend a lot of money, but I also refer a lot of customers and I will not be choosing Rens going forward.

My experience with global pets was far much better than this store. ....wouldn’t recommend this to anyone ended up wasting money and staff declined me giving a free sampler just because I used coupon.I don’t care for sampler but wen I returned goods coupon was said to be forfeited which store said they have submitted for reimbursement to sponsor. So if I returned ur good store still claiming my coupon without the valid purchase and top of that other staff disagreed but couldn’t help

There was only a single staff there and she was doing her best but was clearly overwhelmed because it was so busy. The management need to provide the proper staffing levels otherwise, customers will leave and/or staff will quit because of frustration. (In my retail work experience, we had a policy always to have a minimum of 2 staff due to safety reasons and for their protection.)

Poor quality Guinea pig hay in an Oxbow box. Don't buy. The slightly cheaper price isn't worth all of the brown hay mixed in. The bagged Oxbow that I purchase from Pet Smart is lovely, and my Guinea pigs love it. The store is clean.

We have had some dietary issues with our huskies and the staff here is AMAZINGLY helpful. They are so knowledgeable about their products. Last time I went in, Maddie (Madison) helped us with the longgggg list of questions we had about switching our husky off of raw and on to something else, and she was incredible. She was so patient with us. She also had so many suggestions for so many different options. We went in not knowing what to do and just wanting our doggie to be healthy, and she set us up and we left so happy and relieved. Thank you so so much Maddie. They also have amazing sales and great products. I will never go anywhere else for my doggie. In love with this place. My friend also has two cane corso’s and she says the exact same thing about Ren’s in Cambridge. We’re both very very happy customers.

Was in the store yesterday and as always got great service. But there was a young girl a few weeks ago, and I unfortunately didn't get her name, who was very helpful in introducing me to Weruva cat food for the rescue we had just adopted. Also great in setting me up with a name tag for her. Not everyone carries the brand and if so nowhere near the selection and price that Rens does. I am scanning the flyers now for their sales and this week it was buy 2 get one free so I stocked up. My little girl just loves the Weruva wet food and I have yet to find a flavor she doesn't like and you can actually see the pieces of meat and fish in the can and it is made in a factory alongside human food by a family owned company. So thank you to that young lady and to Rens for outstanding service.

Downgrading rating to a 2, normally have good in-store service, curbside service was horrible and If I have the option won't be using it again. Waited 30 minutes trying to pick up my order while they served people that came after me. When I arrived there was 1 person ahead of me and two arrived just after. I tried calling the number posted 3 times and got a line busy signal. Shortly after everyone else started to line up at the door, I asked the other customers and everyone was the same no one was able to call for pickup. 2 customers were served ahead of me and the lady just before me was told that they weren't taking walk-up customers you had to call to pick up your order (even though the two prior hadn't called). I asked the woman at the door if there was a problem, cause none of us were able to get through it was always ringing busy. We were told they are busy and understaffed, you have to call. (again was not the case for the two people they just served). So, I called 19 more times before managing to get through, for 10 minutes no one was served. As I was trying to call another gentleman walked up to the door and said he couldn't get through and they served him, when I got to the door that they didn't even have half of my order and asked if that was ok. As I finished my order the staff (including the woman that told me she couldn't serve us unless we called first) served 2 other walk-up customers that complained they couldn't get through. I understand being busy, what I don't understand is who is tying the curbside pickup line up if all the curbside pickup customers can't get through? At least have a hold option, so that people can save their place in line. I wouldn't have mind waiting on hold until someone answered, then I would have received my order in 5 minutes and not 30 minutes later. Lastly, If you're going to refuse to serve customers because they don't call ahead refuse everyone, and not just one or two random people.
