Overpriced , especially for 1 piece of fish that was seemed like it was soaking in oil and battered like 5 times with wayyyyyy too many french fries that were fried in old oil. Would I go there again ? Not for two dinners that cost almost $30.00

A "fish and chip shop" with frozen chips! Pretty much says it all... We used to go quite frequently for their beautiful breakfast, meeting up with friends and family, my wife and I stopped in for a breakfast recently, and were appalled at how far downhill one of Cambridge's great little breakfast hideaway's had gone. We will not be returning.My breakfast was swimming in oil, Dry silver dollar frozen home-fries...Key word "Home-fries" Canned beans,Broken egg, Precooked Packaged sausage, coffee was bitter...likely a very cheap brand, and the service was mediocre at best! the table was even sticky! I felt I should have got up and left, but to save my wife's embarrassment, I let them steal and not earn my hard earned money. I feel whoever now owns the shop has lost sight of why they chose to be in the restaurant business... They need a new "Mission Statement" that incorporates the words "FRESH"and "LOCAL" and the biggest one "PRIDE"

Last time I got the breakfast plate here it wasn't the greatest but I got a Western today and it was good so I guess I wouldn't say it's bad or good, If I had to sum up this restaurant I'd say hit or miss food with a nice view. Not much of a wait, fast service

Ate breakfast here this morning , place didn’t have a seat open . They had one waitress running all the table .( they should have more staff). Our waitress was amazing poor girl had so many people but made sure that she got to every table with a smile and very friendly. Food was good our eggs were a bit hard for over easy everything was good untill we got up to pay. The older lady looked soo mad and could care less about being there. We understand the place was very busy any yes they need more people but would it kill you to smile .

First time ordering and pleasantly impressed. The food was fresh, warm and delivered quickly. The fish was nicely fried, full flavoured with a crispy golden brown batter. The fries were very plump, perfectly made and lightly salted for exquisite taste. We also had some burgers in our order. The bun was very fresh and spongey with the perfect amount of condiments. The cheeseburgers themselves were adequate but the whole package was very good. Would highly recommend Barnacle Bill’s, especially for the fish n chips!

We had order pollock n fries . It was greasy and huge pieces of batter missing fish .The fries were frozen with some kind of batter on them . I was sick for 2 days . We have had better frozen fish and fries at home

I have been here many times to eat and not once have I been disappointed. To start off, their menu has a wide range of selections to help accommodate everyone's likings. The prices on the menu are very affordable, which definitely attracted me. The seating areas are large, this is good so you are able to have a conversation with whoever you may be eating with or if you are alone and are doing work for example. Another awesome aspect of this restaurant is their awesome, quick and friendly service. The waiters/waitresses are always very kind and engage in conversations with people, the food comes to your table within 10-15 minutes of ordering and if you have any problems, the staff is always very nice and helpful. I highly recommend Barnacle Bill's if you are looking for a nice, affordable and tasty meal!

I'm N9t a big fan of this place. Rhe service was OK but it was expensive for what you got. The tartar sauce came in tiny packs ( like McDonald's ketchup from the drive through) and the menu selection was poor. I wouldn't go back there or recommend it to anyone.

What an amazing place. The little blonde Jillian, was very professional and lovely to talk to. She made eating a lovey experience I will never forget. This was probably one of the most amazing places I’ve been to in a long time. The food was like top chef worthy. And the service was GREAT! A really nice place with friendly service. Place was clean and they were willing to describe the menu. Too bad halibut was out of season, the cod was good but not the same. Have plenty of condiments for take out. Would go there again. A bit pricey, but competitive. Met other great clients there. Just off the path of the park by the lake.

A great place for fish and chips! Many different kinds of seafood are available, and usually in two sizes. The halibut was delicious, with light batter, and the fries were crispy. The apple blossom dessert was scrumptious and just the right size to finish the meal Staff are friendly and efficient, and Barnacle Bill's is obviously a family friendly restaurant.

Family short city getaway trip to Cambridge, and stop by this Fish and Chip restaurant. We ordered the seafood platter combo, it comes with a piece of Cod, 3 shrimps and 3 scallops and fries. The cod is very fresh and the scallop is nicely seasoned, the shrimp is ok. Overall, I will recommend this place if you ever come by the area.

This place has been around since I was a kid growing up in galt - at LEAST 30 years. For a business, especially in a competitive space like the restaurant industry, to be around that long is proof of the quality of the food and the deep, lasting roots they have put down in the community. First and last time here. I am giving it 2 stars because the food was pretty good. The service and cleanliness was awful. My husband asked for a lemon for his water and was told there were no lemons. We thought it was strange for a fish-n-chip place to not have lemon. Then as were about to leave another table was given lemon!! When we asked why we were told there were no lemons we were informed that they hadn’t started cutting any up!! Are you serious? And to add to that, instead of apologizing and claiming there was a misunderstanding, we were given attitude and ignorance. We will not be back. Customer service needs an adjustment.

It's a nice clean restaurant, I don't know how but their fish and chips are really good. I'd describe it as fresh, and comforting. I'm not the best at food description but you'll have to try it yourself. Would recommend as a fish and chips place. I also got a nice slice of bread with butter and coleslaw which I didn't realize was part of the order but was a nice bonus that I don't see other places doing.

I have enjoyed this restaurant very much in the past but it seems to have gone downhill. Service was deplorable. One napkin per customer unless you ask for more. Waiters kept creamers and milk in their apron pockets not on our table for coffee. Our meals were not served together and the wait time was forever. Meal was nothing special.

We stumbled upon this fabulous little restaurant while out exploring. Our three kids devoured the chicken strips and fries. My husband and I had the fish n chips, great portion size!! The three ladies working were so friendly and kind. Even though we live two hours away we will be back!! Great food, great prices and great people!!!!

Went there and got 2 peice fish and chip. Wife got the hot Turkey sandwich. I was happy with the service when we walked in and the waitress was nice. We got our food and it was hot and tasted fantastic. I do recommend getting half batter. Coleslaw was on the sour side but tasty after adding a little pepper. They have changed their fries for the better. They are crisp and do not taste like they were fried beside the fish. Over all super impressed and the interior has been redone. Only reason I didnt put 5 stars is that they need a changing station for babies. Brought my little one with me and there was no place to change her.

The fries here are really, really good. The price for 2 piece cod and chips is about 20 bucks, which seems like a lot for a meal for one person. The food is great though. Tartar sauce is "OK", but packaged and a bit on the sweet side for my tastes!

It would be nice if they used fresh ingredients. If I wanted frozen food I would go to the supermarket and get it myself. Heard someone call in for a seafood plater order, the girl cut open a frozen bag of fish, frozen bag of shrimp, and a bag of frozen fries then dumped it all in the fryer. I could do that myself at home lol

I phoned down and asked what time breakfast was till and was told it was 1:00 PM, I got there at 12:50 PM. When I got there the waitress, a young girl was serving the table next to me and just glanced at me, she then went on to serve another table and then there was another customer that came in a single man, she went to him, but he was there for breakfast and was told it was too late. This waitress then turn around and walked away again not acknowledging my presence, I got up and as I was leaving I told this waitress how rude she was. It is bad enough that the home fries are not home made and it is expensive, I was there before breakfast hour was over and should have been served

One person in the party ordered broiled haddock, it was small, not seasoned and pretty bland. Disappointing for a $12 a la carte item. (1 pc of broiled Halibut was $18) Had a hot turkey sandwich too. It was good, came with peas and carrots and stuffing too! Overall, one of the better fish and chip places I've been to. Will go back for sure but will try a different fish and chip place first.

My husband Gerry and I were there for dinner. I had haddock and chips. Gerry had Cod and chips. We both enjoyed our meal. It was the best fish I have had in a while. I liked that there was actually a good portion of fish, it was soft and most importantly, lightly battered . I have been to places where the batter was very thick with very little fish inside...just horrible. ...not so at Barnacle Bill's. The fish and chips came hot to the table, which I absolutely loved as well. Nothing is worse than being served cold food. With our meal, we got a slice of bread and coleslaw. My haddock and chips was almost $19.00, but I can tell you, it was well worth the price. I had 1 piece of haddock which was enough for me. You do have the option to have 2 pieces. The restaurant is very clean and the service prompt, with friendly staff. There is parking. This restaurant is opposite the Cambridge Theatre and close to other activities.

I was going to write a review, that summed up our experience here, but my conscience, my higher moral self would not let me, for not wanting to cause harm. I used two stars because one star means "Hated it" Google's rating not mine. I refuse to use the 'H' word, but if some other phrase represented one star I would have used it. I will instead be inspired by 'Thumper' the Rabbit who was a character in the cartoon movie 'Bambi'. Patio being open is great! The staff is very nice but it was quite confusing on the process for patio during covid restrictions. There for breakfast. It always seemed so busy at breakfast. So we went with hreat expectations.Home fries not home fries just french fries cut different and soggy at that. Ham really salty and sausage not like any sausage weve ever had. More like a cross between a sausage and a hot dog. No offers of coffee refill. Busy but lots of staff they had time to ask and do. Not impressed.

Got this on Christmas eve for one of the family dinners, great food, the only reason it's a four star is cause Stoyles is in town! Fries were golden brown and delicious, the Cod fish was very good as well just a bit greesy, apparently the haddock is much better.

Usually go to Caz's across town but recently heard some good things about Bill's, so thought I'd try. Serving staff was friendly. 2 piece halibut was unimpressive...greasy and undercooked. Cole slaw was extremely sour. Not worth the price. Because it was a busy night due to a performance across the street, I'll assume the kitchen was rushed, and this was an off night.

We were so excited to try this place but left super disappointed. Worst $45 meal we’ve ever had, calamari was chewy and over cooked. Fish was soaked in oil, they gave a tarter sause packets. It’s a fish and chip restaurant and they don’t even have fresh tarter sauce.

Ordered fish and chips (one with "mashed potatoes"). Was expensive and not worth the money. Fish was very greasy, under-cooked and tasteless, fries were not fresh (frozen) and gross. If your going to charge $44 for 2 fish and chip meals make it worth the money! As for the mashed "potatoes" they were flavorless instant potato flakes that they added too much water too, I could have drank them!... my daughters baby food has more flavor and texture. I do not recommend this place and it's too bad I had to give them one star in order to post this.

The food is amazing.the service could use a bit of a shine, there is usually 1 server working the whole floor. tarter sauce is in packets, wish they had fresh or a jar or squeeze bottle, the packets are bad for greasy fingers and the environment. Too bad the pop is not fountain pop and refillable. This place could change a few things. But they are super clean, food is hot and fresh and not to mention delicious. The fish was crispy outside and perfectly cooked inside. They even took us in for dine in about 40 mins before closing time. This spot is ALWAYS busy for take out! We know why! Would definitely eat here again, this was my 3rd time :)

Way over priced for freezer section quality. 22$ for 2 small pieces of cod that were juicy wet under the breading (what is that about?) and terrible breaded fries. My fish looked and tasted like breaded fish that was poached inside the breading. Was it from frozen, dipped in batter and fried? I bet it was and at market price...

I honestly wish I could give this more, but given the experience we had i just can't. The girls who serve you are courteous and friendly, but are quick to forget your order. The chicken sandwich and fries were ok at best since they were frozen patty and what looks to be mccain fries. The fish was a tiny piece for 17 dollars and again almost tasteless. Last the caeser salad was just terrible. Sorry but will definitely not be back here.
