Food here is consistently good. Service is OK, they don't have a lot of staff so its hard to find someone to help you. When they do help you they can forget your order quickly or give you the wrong item. Good side is that they fix the issue as soon as you tell them.

Taste: 9/10 Value: 8/10 We like to come before 6 for the minimeals which are cheaper and really good. This particular store has 10% off between 3-6 pm as well Laksa: my fav. I like to order flat noodles. Shin ramen: really good as well with super tender beef tendon and meat. Spicy fries: always good

Highly customizable noodle (or rice!) soup restaurant. Their peanut based broth is very rich, to the point I'd rather have it without noodles, but it's very delicious. The laksa broth is my #1 pick, super tasty. Would also recommend the sausage for the soup as well.

Fast but questionable service, decent food with inconsistent portions. Cash only. Came here with my family (4 people) and instead of giving us a booth, they sat us in the corner at the "back". The server was very curt and did not bother identifying our drinks. I ordered noodle soup with cuttlefish balls and mushrooms. It came with only three small cuttlefish balls. The others had generous portions of beef and tendon. On the plus side, everyone had lots of noodles and veggies, and the soup was tasty. We left our payment on the table and just as we were just about to get up to leave, the server snatched it up and counted the money in front of us. I understand she needed to check the amount, but never did she ask if we needed change and I was half-expecting her to complain we didn't tip enough. She just left to go to the register. I've been to many no-nonsense eateries but this was something else (especially being with my mom on Mother's Day). We left with full bellies but felt "duped".

We used to patronize this joint frequently. However, this time really disappointed us. No fresh bean curd; extremely fatty beef tendon. Worst of all, there was some kind of paper wrap inside the soup noodles????????????????????????????

My friend took me here and she suggested the laksa which was fantastic. I love how you can customize your own bowl of noodles. Plus if you add and extra dollar you can get bubble tea with you soup! Also, it’s cash only!!

DISGUSTING. The spoon handle was sticky. When I wiped it with tissue paper, it was black. Then we found a dead bug in the soup half way through the meal. The waitress reacted like she'd seen this before. I realized from other Google reviews I'm not the first one to find bugs in their food. This is unacceptable. I won't visit this location again.

I have tried both their Vancouver & Burnaby locations. Both offer the same menu (of course!) & just as satisfying. They have 2 separate menus: one for picking noodle combos (different soup base, noodles & toppings); the other is a more western combo of rice or pasta, and your choice of toppings & sauces. Both menus include a free hot drink of coffee or HK style milk tea. There's also a side order menu which is priced quite reasonably. I recommend the fried fish skin to go with the soup base noodles. Tastes so good! PS Happy hour daily from 3-6pm @ 10% off. When you order take outs while dining in during this time, you receive 15% off your take outs.

We have been ordering deer garden from different locations and this has never happened until we order from this location. We noticed there are many ‘tiny black particles’ inside the soup as we were eating, we thought it might be seasoning at first, then we started seeing more inside the soup, and found that these black particles actually have wings and legs. This is unacceptable and extremely disgusting as we found out after finishing half the portion. Definitely not ordering from this place anymore.

Solid bowl of soup noodles. Glad they started a restaurant in Burnaby. You get to choose your soup base, two items and noodles plus a drink. But in my memory the price was slightly higher at about $12-$13 per order. Additional item was $1.75. But overall it’s quick and easy.

Good for a quick meal. They have a mini set from 3-6pm and from 9pm onwards. I found these a better deal as the average set is $8 and the portion size seems to be the same as the normal set (build your own noodle).

Good place to get a nice bowl of noodles. Good selection of different soup bases along with custom toppings and different noodles. Relatively cheap and filling meal. The noodle combos come with drinks.

Nice place for a quick bite! Great selection of soups, toppings and noodles. Their Hong Kong style milk tea is also quite good. Service is quick and they thoroughly sanitize the tables.

Family reunion starts now, and we are kicking it simple tonight! We used to come here so often, but without a car, it was hard. They have a pretty expansive HK style cafe menu consisting of Chinese and Chinese-influenced Western flavours, but they are famed for their customizable fish noodle soups. This means choosing your msg-free fish soup base, noodle type, and 2 toppings. I really miss the days when they had ox tongue as an option! For the price and the size it's a great fun and fast meal! You can order off the menu directly or fill out an order sheet and use the menu as a guide to write out what you want. If it's your first time just follow the order sheet, choose your noodle, soup ingredients and a drink (use the menu to write out the name on the sheet). The side items like shui mai is what you expect, it's typically going to be frozen unless it's a dim sum restaurant. Go for sliced meats in my opinion or skip it. Overall tasty, fast and good for in and out, service is polite, nothing special but you definitely don't feel alienation, everyone helps or knows they have to help. Good soup!

I always get stomach ache after this place, but I come back every time. Worth the trip to the porcelain throne. Original soup base, add in fish tofu, all the meat balls, wide noddle and ennoki mushroom, can't beat the price

We have frequented Deer Garden in the past because of their kind portions and food quality, especially their rice noodles. On our most recent visit, we were surprised by the sharp increase in the rice noodle bundle price, up from $10.45 to $14.89. We certainly understand inflation and the cost of goods have increased during this time. However, the portions have gone down by a good 30-40%. We are light eaters but still left the dinner feeling hungry and wanting more. Add to the fact the kitchen accidentally switched our noodles with the wrong broth and incorrect toppings. We were pretty disappointed. Unfortunately, I'm unsure if this is a chain thing, but Fraser's DG seems to taste better. Either way, we are rather sad that this establishment is driving away customers with poor food quality.

Your typical HK style cafe and specializes in "build your own" noodle bowls. One of the few places in Vancouver that serves a decent HK style milk tea. A few good bargain dishes on the menu. Worth a try. Service is avg as per most Chinese Restaurant.

Great food. Large quantity so make sure you're really hungry! You'll want to eat it all anyway. Service is meh but you're here for the food anyway. Also only takes cash so keep that in mind.

Their noodle soups are great!! We like the laksa broth with Korean potatoe noodle and chicken balls. Very tasty. At about $13 plus you get a drink it's reasonable. Their curry chicken is one of my favorite curries anywhere. I wish the dish was larger here. At about $14 for a dish it's reasonable also. But like I said the taste is great! And also comes with a drink. We often choose the cold milk tea. The seating in the restaurant is very nice and spaced out.

I like the many combinations they offer. Choices of soup, noodles, ingredients and a hot drink of coffee or others. I had white rice noodle in fish broth, lettuce, Sai Yeung Veggy and fish balls. It was yummy! I am sensitive to MSG and apparently they didn’t use much. Love the meal!

First time here was yummy! Not bad at all. The noodles and the broth are great! I love how you can choose your toppings too! Price point it very reasonable as well! Menu is limited but they have decent side dishes as well! (Wings etc) Definitely worth a try here! Cash only !!

I personally like revisiting my favourite restaurant in the city. Deer Garden is one of them. I've never been to Deer Garden in Burnaby, but visited Richmond and Fraser locations in the past. Their food is known for warm hearty food on rainy days. We ordered 3 different items to share. We ordered Laksa Combo ($14.25), Tom Yum Noodle Combo ($14.25), Porkchop with Rice ($13.75), Iced Tea ($1.25) and Dessert Wings with Ginger($4). Laksa Combo was flavourful and milky. I could taste some curry flavour, spices and coconut milk, YUM! Tom Yum Noodle was fantastic as well. It was sour and spicy just the way we like. I had some Kimchi that was in my soup. Kimchi and tomato made the soup spicy and sour. Noodles were nicely cooked. Beef stomach pieces in Laksa were big. Tofu curd slices were very tasty. Mmm, Pork chop was amazing. Meat was fresh and crispy. It was good enough for one serving. I ordered chicken wing tips which actually ran out. I had to order Dessert Wings instead and the portion was so small for the price. 3 Pieces of wings for $4 which is quite pricy. Aside from that everything was good. Coffee wasn’t too strong, but smooth and tasty. Iced Tea was refreshing and tasty after finishing my lunch. Thanks for a memorable Sunday lunch yesterday! ** Deer Garden is CASH ONLY**

Delicious noodle combos in flavorful soup base selections! They are also known for their "fish-broths" soup bases which is popular. Price-to-portion is very reasonable and I often dine here when I feel like having a hot noodle soup.
