Not as good as it used to be. Ceasar salad made table side still great as is the guy who makes it. They have become less flexible than they were.I normally have their pickerel and they would offer the best home fries on the planet on request.... not anymore. Lame excuse when pushed. You would think a two hundred dollar dinner for two would warrant the chef peeling a potato!! probably look for a new special occasion venue next time.

Went for dinner with my wife for our anniversary. Thought it would be a great experience but I was wrong. Our waiter took over 10 minutes to come to our table after we were first seated and he never even introduced himself. He then proceeded to ask us if we were on our "first date" even though we made a reservation and specified it was our wedding anniversary. You would also think the wedding ring would give it away. After ordering our main course, I politely asked the waiter for some more bread. He turned to me and announced to the entire room that he would have to charge me for it. We were seated in a small backroom and felt crammed in among the other tables and it was embarrassing. We also wouldn't have asked for more bread if the service wasn't so slow and given that the steaks range between $60-90, you would think a basket of bread would not be of huge concern. Our appetizer was the calamari and was very chewy and not overly appetizing. Our steaks were done well but were not great for the price you pay. Being in our 30's we felt that our waiter discriminated against us and gave us poor service as most of the other patrons were in their late 40's or 50's. The environment and service was poor. We could not wait to leave the restaurant and never go back. Saying we were very disappointed is an understatement.

I ordered pick up from the Lord Nelson yesterday so my husband and I could celebrate our anniversary at home. We even got a babysitter for the first time. So this was a big deal for us. Unfortunately, the whole experience left me less than satisfied with a literal bad taste in my mouth. First, let me say...the steak was excellent! Perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. No issues there. The rest of our order, however, was pretty bad. Not at all what I would expect from a fine dining establishment. My order of Shrimp Lady Hamilton was inedible. They were so rubbery and tough I couldn't chew it. It seemed like they were first overcooked, then reheated in the microwave. My chicken carbonara had no seasoning at all, besides whole garlic cloves and oil, it was incredibly bland. I have to say I was shocked! We spent over $200 on dinner last night and the only thing we ate was my husband's steak. You guys need to step up your pick up order game, because I highly doubt you would ever serve that food to customers you had to engage with. Do better guys!

Our server was great. Food was ok but certainly over priced. Also there were a couple next to us which ordered the most expensive steaks on the menu. The owner went over and introduced himself to them as he was making their salad. Not even acknowledging us or his other customers. I found that very unprofessional. Guess money means everything to certain people. Will not be going back to this place!

It's insanely expensive, but the quality of the food is actually great. The steak was perfectly done, the appatizers were huge and great, and the cherries jubilee were fantastic. Definitely not a frequent place to eat but for special occasions it's great.

Had a fab first experience at Lord Nelson - I was a first time diner while the rest of the table have been dining there for years (I now understand why). The service was expert, friendly, and inclusive; the food was excellent; and don’t be fooled by the small strip mall-style exterior - the dining room is light, beautiful & welcoming. They offer lots of classic and popular cocktails, and the wine list is well curated. We very much enjoyed the garlic bread, pate, pickles and olives that arrived before we ordered - a standout spread in its own rite. Lobster bisque was velvety rich deliciousness with generous chunks of quality crustacean. Table side Caesar salad was prepared with care and perfectly balanced - garlicky, citrusy with salty umami punches (easily a “must” for all subsequent visits). Oysters Rockefeller were plump topped with rich and creamy decadence. Our friends thoroughly enjoyed the steak & lobster tails they shared; petit filet was also a favourite, as well as the veal chop bathed in a Demi glaze and creamy Gorgonzola (YUM!). The dessert lovers enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding, and classic coffee and spirit combinations were a welcome finale today the meal as they were prepared at the table with fiery flair and experienced showmanship. I believe our server’s name was Patrick, and he truly looked after us, making the evening extra special (as did all the staff supporting at different points during our visit). Highly recommend Lord Nelson for a delicious and memorable meal - would think it to be an excellent choice for a special dates, occasions, and events. Look forward to returning in future.

I was invited to a dinner here, and I had high expectations because of the Google ratings. Dinner consisted of appetizers, main course, and dessert. The appetizers were good. For the main entree, I had the lamb and I have to say it was disappointing. All I can say is that the vegetables that came with it tasted better. Dessert was a raspberry-white chocolate cake, which was delicious but very sweet. The service was excellent. I would probably return if I receive another invite but would not choose to go on my own dime. I can get better tasting lamb somewhere else for the same price.

Amazing flavors! Fresh warm Garlic bread with leaver pate. Special salad with mayonnaise that is made in front of you. Tomahawk steak so soft, is melting in your mouth. Rare Patagonian fish smooth like butter. Rich red wine Cream Brule Capuccino for sweet ending. Most important, great service and great owners!

Excellent spot for lunch. The ambiance is formal, but not stuffy. The wine list is robust, with plenty of good choices by the glass. The wait staff are all very gracious, professional and friendly. My husband ordered Oysters Rockefeller as an appetizer. They were very fresh, plump and topped with bacon and both cheese and hollandaise. Fortunately he shared, and they were delicious. I asked our waiter about the beautifully presented salads that were delivered to another table. He said the guests are Regulars and they always order the same thing. It was a great recommendation. I had a Greek salad that was lemony dressed with lots of veges and feta. They served it with a large portion of blackened salmon that was perfection! My husband ordered the Lord Nelson Salisbury steak with frites. It had a savory gravy with lots of sauted onions. Dessert was offered, but we had to pass. Maybe next time, we will get to try the house made cheesecake! The exterior is very unassuming. It is literally in a strip mall! The grand, solid wood door is the only thing that let's you know you have arrived! I highly recommend Lord Nelson! Enjoy!

Four of us went last night to celebrate a special occasion. Enjoyed both: the service and the food. 5 star place. Thursday night is less crowded. I would recommend making a reservation Wed or Thur night. If you getting drinks, appetizers, main course after tax and tip expect $150/person. Lots to choose from on a menu: meats, seafood, desserts- tons of options. Largest size of the shrimp that i have ever seen. I say for a special occasion it's totally worth the money. We liked the atmosphere there as well. Waiter joked with us, created a fun atmosphere, recommended amazing wine. It's not loud in the restaurant, you can talk wach other easily.

Took my clients to Lord Nelson's to celebrate the purchase of their new house. I wanted to something really nice for them and this place did not disappoint. We sat in the patio which was warm, covered and well decorated. The service was great, very nice and professional. The food was great, amazing selection and specials. The wine list was great, so much selection of great bottles. I would highly recommend Lord Nelson's.

The restaurant is located in a really ghetto Plaza so looks can be deceiving. We live nearby and have always driven by this place and we're always curious to try it out. We finally got around to going in and the exterior and the plaza does not do the restaurant Justice. The inside, and hold interior is absolutely beautiful. The menu is priced like a very high-end restaurant. I ordered the filet mignon and my wife had the lamb. The steak was okay, nothing extraordinary and truthfully, not really representative of the price point that I would have expected. I think I've had better steak at the keg for cheaper. I'm willing to give it another shot and try something else on the menu.

Service was horrible. Would not recommend. Went to the Lord Nelson for the first time on Christmas Day with the accompany of my family. I was really excited to try it because of the many good things I have heard, unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. We sat at our table and waited about 10 minutes before any staff even acknowledged we were there. Finally, we were greeted by our unnamed Server with a quick “Merry Christmas” and, without any delay, he asked us what we wanted to eat, without asking our drink orders before hand. This made us rush to make our decisions and we regretted it. When our food arrived, we were not asked once if we were enjoying our meal or if we needed anything to make it complete. We were astonished on how lacking the service was. I ordered a steak, I was pleased with how it was cooked, however, the vegetables it was served with were stone cold. The food quality and lack of formal service made the prices seem outrageous. Entrées started at $40. After our entrées were finished, we were told we had to leave our seats and move to the bar area because of another reservation. This would have been fine, however we waited for our server offer us dessert and were asked to leave before we could order. When we arrived at the the bar, the “owners wife” offered us beverages. She also asked us how our meal was and we were quick to tell her how disappointed we were. The “owners wife” shrugged and went to cleaning dishes behind the bar without even caring about what we had to say. I could not believe this, especially after having worked in the restaurant industry in the past. Overall, we were astonished on how disrespected and belittled we felt during our whole meal. This was the worst Christmas dinner our family had had in years, service was horrid, food was good… but only ok for the outrageous prices. We will never be returning to the Lord Nelson again.

Never happened for me, Texas Steak house smashed a some steak out of the park. For high end eateries Lord Nelson needs a ton of work to even think they will ever be on a Pepperwoods or Beldini level ..

Food was "good", not AMAZING, portions were small and not in a nice artistic way, there was just clearly allot of empty space on the plates where a couple extra spoonfuls of side dishes could have been occupying the space which would have made things MUCH more presentable. Service was attentive, but rough around the edges, waiters were always talking to eachother, and joking around loudly, saying (jokingly to one another) "I'll choke you out" as if they were 2 wrestlers or something, and the food delivery to the table was not delicate, plates were not placed in front of us, but rather just kind of dumped there. On the plus, the Caesar salads were made table side which was kind of above touch, but the waiter was so focused on working hard on the salad, he wasn't engaging us while he made the salad, which was quite yummy, and possibly the highlight of the meal for all at the table. Overall... I'm not likely to give it another try.

The place looked nice but our server Patrick smelled like strong cigarettes and cheap body spray to cover it, he was also very slow paced but it was a busy night. First and last time I’ll visit.. $99 for goat cheese on 3 crackers, grilled chicken Alfredo, slice of pineapple rum torte (which actually had no pineapple.. just rum) and 2 gin and tonics.. The food quality was poor and should be at a $30 total price point.

8 of us went for our Christmas party. Our evening was ruined because the owner got upset at us and yelled at us because we told the waiter that we found a long hair on the plate and lipstick stains on the tea cup. Instead of apologizing, he was extremely annoyed and didn't apologize. The manager said that it's the dish washer and it doesn't remove the stains at times. He offered our table some digestive alcohol beverage in a shot glass which did not taste good so we did not drink it. The funny thing was that our table was polite and did not make an issue of the hair but in turn the owner and server were rude and combative. The food was okay but because of the way we were treated and service received, we would never go here again. Not a fine dining experience. Would not recommend.

DELICIOUS FOOD ! INCREDIBLE SERVICE ! AMAZING DINING EXPERIENCE ! Recently I had the pleasure of going there for a work dinner .My wife and myself were blown away! From the moment you walk in, it is quiet the 5 Star experience. Patrick was our server for the party of +12 and he was on the ball. He even informed me the Chicago style steak I like was initially called Pittsburgh style! Not a lot of people even know what that is. I will definitely drive the 40 mins to dine here again !

My wife and I recently had dinner here for a special occasion. Both meals were well prepared and spot on taste wise. We had the mussels, veal and tiger shrimp, and I had the 8oz Filet Mignon. It was a cozy atmosphere and we had a great evening. All the staff were knowledgeable and attentive.

Years ago this used to be a good place for celebrations ....it was a little pricey but the service and quality of food justified the expense. We used to frequent this place a couple times a year. We also went to the Edgewater Manor, Shakespeare and Napoleons. Over the years the quality of this restaurant has plummeted, but the prices have increased tremendously. So don’t let the prices fool you. It’s VERY expensive & you won’t get what you paid for. Paying more doesn’t mean better. Number one is that it Located in a run down plaza - ( you can pay the same and be at the Edgewater Overlooking the lake ) so why pay these prices for this location ....they also didn’t invest in customer service training as the owner and staff have become increasingly ruder. This is not a 4 or 5 star restaurant. Be prepared to wait as the service is very poor and you have to wait for waiter to come in from having his smoke.... and unfortunately will reek of old cigarettes when he is standing by your table. Lastly, the food is subpar as you will read in many reviews. Cold, rubbery, Sadly the owners DO NOT RESPOND to any negative reviews proving they don’t care. Save your money and if you want to enjoy good quality food and great service go to Napoleons, or the keg or if want to spend a little more go to The Edgewater. There are many many excellent restaurants in Burlington with solid reputations.

Took a friend out for his birthday on December 19th, 2021 assuming I would get exceptional service. Unfortunately, things didn't go as smooth as I assumed, had to get our waiters attention several times in regards of taking our orders. The responses to accommodate us seemed very nonchalant. Overall, would not recommend this location as a "luxury" restaurant as it represents it self, due to my experience. Food was not the greatest, very bland and again there needs to be a drastic improvement on customer experience. Will not be considering a re-visit in the inner future and not to mention our waiter included a gratuity in our bill for a table of 4, which was not discussed/informed before hand.

Looks like the restaurant takes pride in ‘‘its name Everything is branded, but it really does not care about customer experience. Waiter said can’t talk to me because needs to attend other tables. Escargots had no flavour. My son’s steak was overcooked. Prices very high but they serve Lipton tea;( Cake taste like previously frozen. Not Experience for a high end restaurant.

October 30, 2019 I have eaten many a times over the years and have always been satisfied. Some of the staff have been there for years. Went to dinner to celebrate a birthday. Very disappointed this time, don’t think it was up to par. Had the Waygu Steak, not sure it was Waygu. Did not look like what I had read about or seen pictures of, looked like a regular NY Strip Steak, but at 4x the cost. I will probably come back again, just do not want to be disappointed. Especially when you spend that much money.

After doing some research I reserved for my boyfriend's 42nd Birthday. Dining out for us is so hit and miss. We dont mind spending money when its worth it which is something we rarely say. Tonight was very pleasantly different. Our experience was nothing short of perfection. Wonderful. We went here for the first time tonight. The drinks were made really well. Hats off to the bartenders. Food was delicious but mine was just a little too salty for me & sadly my coffee at the end was cold. This restaurant has outstanding food and service. We ask for Patrick to be our waiter. We found that he is has a good sense of humour and he times your food so you don't feel rushed. Make sure you make reservations so you won't be disappointed when you can't get a table. This shows the restaurant is excellent because it fills up constantly. We forgot to make reservation for my birthday and we ended up at Shakespeare's that night to get the worst service and meal I've ever had in my life.

Dozens of flies buzzing around and landing on our glasses and plates, constantly interrupted by 3 different waiters for no reason at all, yet, the manager never came by after sending my food back because a fly landed on it. We were charged double for a mediocre dessert and served stale wine - the waiter made a point to tell us his opinion on stale wine and how we were wrong. A total disappointment -nobody said happy birthday to my wife, after it was specifically mentioned when making the reservation. The waiter even told me how I need to tip - not using the % button because I used a gift card... come on. Once the best steak house around, now, we wouldn't return for anything. Check out Earl's down the street or Cactus Club at Sherway if you want friendly service and excellent food.

We go because it's probably the only stablishment that offers Chilean Sea Bass on a regular menu other than iL Camperi in Montreal. Yes, you will pay close to $300 for 2 including a bottle of wine, shared app and 4 fancy coffee's and tip but at the end of the day - it's a once or twice a year treat.

What an experience! We had date night at home and the staff/ownership at the Lord Nelson made our night spectacular. The meal I was able to serve at home was as good as the in restaurant experience minus the service! From the garlic bread, pate, pickles and olives to the Veal Chop, Short Rib ravioli and their famous Caesar salad my family enjoy each bite. This will be repeated forsure. I will always still miss the de crumbing of a table, watching a salad being made and the fine touch the waiters bring at the restaurant, but for a home experience I couldn’t have asked for a finer night! From ordering, pick up and quality I couldn’t have had a greater experience. All the extra touches were given. Thanks Lord Nelson- we will do it all again soon. Cheers!

It's been quite a few years since we have been. It was clearly vastly improved insofar as the interior is concerned. The menu was much as I remembered, great appetizer menu, entrees Steak, filets, seafood, Sides, dessert. The service was great. Corkage was I thought a bit heavy but you don't go in here for a baseball game kegger. Make a reservation for sure and dress up. You'll enjoy it.

After dining here with my boyfriend the initial time I was impressed, so much so that I made a point of frequenting the spot a second time for our anniversary. What a mistake...the bartender was rude/lack of class and untactful by asking me loudly with other patrons around why I didn't wear my lingerie that night. I polightly responded that perhaps she may have the wrong person. So untactful and embarrassing. The food was a complete 360 from the first visit so inconsistent where it felt like we were at a commercial restaurant not a 5 star. My pasta by simply boiled with no sauce the veggies were so salty I could not eat them. The only item on the menu I enjoyed was the cheese cauliflower. Dessert cheesecake was rubbery and something I could whip up from my local grocery store freezer. We walk out disappointed and will not be visiting again. The waiter really seem annoyed and unengaged and overall this was less than a 1 star rating.

This is my husband's favourite restaurant. He absolutely LOVES coming here. It is a beautiful dining experience with a calm and relaxed atmosphere. There is no loud or blaring music and the food is just to die for. There staff are exceptional at their jobs and I highly recommend getting the Ceasar Salad and cherries jubilee, both of which they make right at the table. The experience is totally worth it. COVID update. Aug2020, Just visited again. Excellent covid precautions in place. This place is still amazing.

I’ve frequented this place with my family for years. We’ve made a new tradition of going for Christmas Eve, which is also my Grandma’s birthday. Last night’s dinner was not the best we have experienced, unfortunately. We waited over an hour and a half for our dinner, even after mentioning it was my Grandma’s birthday- no one wished her a happy birthday, no cake with candle, NOTHING! We even saved the day by switching tables from the wine cellar to the regular tables, as there seemed to be a mix up, causing a bit of an uproar for another family. Originally when I walked over to the owner and his daughter to explain the scenario, they told me to sit down LOL Realizing they were very busy, and looked definitely more than stressed, I brushed it off, but thought it was terribly unprofessional. A $600 dinner seemed to be deemed as chump change, as they were more concerned with the family of 10 behind us, and ensuring their glasses were filled with what seemed like bottomless champagne. A free drink, saying happy birthday to my Grandma, 10% off our dinner, or a piece of cake with a candle is all it would have taken to make our night.

Chose to come back to the Lord Nelson for a celebration dinner after many impressive meals in past, to be be very disappointed. We sat ignored for an hour with our menus closed before being offered the dinner special options. The waiter served the wrong appetizer and removed it, with patronizing remark about being more expensive. Our entrees took another hour more to be served. 4 people crowded in small table, next to service carts, my chair was hit at least 12 times by server. The noise level so high we couldn’t hear each other speak. coffees were finished before desserts were served. Other tables were served and finished much quicker and with more server interaction, made us feel like second class patrons. Food was exceptional as always however, it’s unlikely we’ll return based on poor service.

I'm sure the service is great when you get there and the food equally great, but receiving a rather abrupt call 30 minutes prior to reservations wasn't the best customer service approach I especially didn't like the warning "you need to be on time. If you're late, we give up your table. And btw you need to be out by 7:15pm". That's pretty much exactly the tone and script I was given. Anyway I booked a very important client meeting but ended up cancelling it because I didn't want my client to feel rushed. Nor did I want them to feel like there were more important reservations in the book. We booked quickly with LaCastille and I'm sure we will get the treatment to give our clients the ultimate experience.

Food was ok, but too expensive for what you get. The waiter made the experience worse than it should have been; we were ignored for some time while he was clearly out for a smoke break. (When he came back, the smoke was strong on his breath.) He also said some mildly-creepy things like, "Something sweet for the sweet lady?" when distributing the dessert menu & other strange things at other times. We were very careful when ordering and managed to get out of the place with a $200 bill including a good tip - we shared an appetizer (shrimp cocktail), had two glasses (total) of wine/beer, one entree was pasta, the other was peppercorn steak & we shared a dessert. (Slice of cake.) Discount coupons were (are?) available at the nearby Costco where you could (can?) get $100 "worth" of Lord Nelson Dining for $80.

I have never had a less than perfect meal at the Lord Nelson. From the wait staff to the ownership, every person working in this establishment makes you feel important and valued when you walk in the door. It is pricey but for the service and quality of food, it can't be beat in the GTHA. You must get the Caesar Salad if you go, it is absolute garlic HEAVEN.
