Another Covid dine in experience. We arrived during the lunch rush so it was busy and took a few minutes to place our order. As a group, we ordered chicken, veal, and meatball sandwiches, plus I ordered the mini veal sandwich and the bread cheese sticks (not really breadsticks at all, but deep fried dough with some cheese). The food was delicious and I highly recommend the mini version of their sandwiches, more than enough for a meal. And don't forget the toppings, such as the sweet red peppers!

Absolutely best place to have lunch in Burlington. I went there with Matt and Ben for lunch on Saturday. The sandwiches were so delicious ???? that we couldn't stop talking about them. Plus, I was thirsty for a beer ???? ... and they serve it here! They also offer a variety of salads. No question about it, next time we are in town, California Sandwiches is where we will dine!

I went today for my first time, I bought a veal sandwich and a deluxe veal sandwich.. Big disappointment, too salty, sauce it's not homemade( I know the difference) small amount of toppings( barely any tomatoes) and breading very cheap... I personally rate those sandwich worth no more than $5 ... Not a top sandwich store and as Italian born and tried a lot of them those are not even close to the name... I do not reccomend at all... You can get better sandwich for less.. That's a fact..

Visited today for a quick dinner and was so happy with my food. I asked for my sandwiches to be packed separately so the sauce wouldnt make by bun soggy and they packaged everything on it's own. Friendly staff, outstanding food and service is on point. Definlty give this place a try if you haven't yet. 2 thumbs up

When you say no bacon bits and they make the salad and just as I was about to get it they took it back to double check and instead of admitting they put bacon in it they just tried to pick the bits out but clearly you can see they didn’t do a good job. You are in the food business if a customer tells you they don’t eat bacon bits it’s for a good reason you can get people sick by not practice proper food etiquette.

First off all the sandwiches are great. You can spice them up almost any way you want. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient. They have lunch time down to a science if you are in a rush. It is abit pricey but you will not get a bigger sandwich anywhere else, the value is pretty good. Hands down this is my favorite lunch spot this side of the St.Lawrence Market. Thanks guys you rock!

This location is by-far the best place to go if you're hungry for a massive and delicious sandwich! This is one of the best run establishments in the city and that starts from the top. The staff are incredible, friendly, fast and great people too. The store is extremely clean and has a friendly, family-like atmosphere! The food is always made to order, hot and packed with flavour as everything is made fresh and in-store everyday! You can't beat it. Do yourself a favour and go there, if it's your first time it won't be your last time. Guaranteed! You'll love it.

Last order we sent, we asked to have it ready for 12:00pm, because the people in our workplace take lunch at 1:00pm, we sent a driver to go and pick up (we emailed them our order at 11:00am), and the order was not ready, and the guy on the phone were belligerent. TL:DR They have great food and good prices. I highly recommend California Sandwiches. Their food is very generously portioned, for most people I would suggest a mini sandwich as it is still a large sandwich and can easily fill one person. The normal sandwiches can easily be shared with two people, especially the meatball which comes with a meatball the size of a baseball, and that isn't even an exaggeration. The fries, onion rings and pasta that I have tried there have also been very good, far better than any other fast food place I have gone to. They also have some very nice business practices which make it feel a lot nicer then most places. An example is that all their posted prices are nice number that most often end in 75, 50, 25 or 00 to round everything nicely, they also all include tax so you pay what you see and everything is straight forward. Every time I have gone there the place is clean and pleasant and the staff are friendly.

I've been eating California Sandwhiches for a half decade at the Scarborough location and was pleased to see this place matches their quality every step of the way. Tues weds thurs they have a promo on lasagne. I went in at 5:30 to pick up some slices for dinner and was told they were out. They sell out in the morning. I'm confused. If this item is on promo why would you not be cooking lasagnas all day especially for lunch and dinner times. Very disappointed on how they manage that and let with nothing.

we came in here with high expectations, portion comes across as big but my chicken sandwich came with no lettuce no tomato no nothing, meat was thin and bad quality. It would be acceptable if it was $4 but it was $9 dollars and my dad got the tomato sauce one and you'd expect there'd be cheese or something but it was just the meat and sauce. Gross.

I've had the chicken and veal parm both with added jalapenos and they were so damn good. The sauce was mild but not too acidic and the roll was fresh. Served with beer (MGD) and a smile (one server there is... ????). They have antipasto, olives and jalapenos. They also sell caccatore and antipasto mix as well as their house made tomato sauce. Sandwich will run you $10 or more but it is filling and worth it

I just had the meatball sandwich at the Burlington location on Fairview Street. It was awful, TRULY awful, one of the worst sandwich experiences I've ever endured. I say that as someone who used to buy the "day old" sandwiches at Donut Diner as a younger man of lesser means. This sandwich was nothing but flavourless meatball and tomato sauce. Cheese and mushrooms are available as toppings only if you PAY EXTRA. Onions are not available as a topping at all. Some bites had no meat at all, while it was falling off the bun at other points, as if the meat & sauce were carelessly slopped on the bun with a big spoon. Look to other options: Goody's Subs at Guelph Line & Mountainside, Sammy's Donairs at Guelph Line & New. This place? NO.

THE best spot for an Italian sandwich! Their food is beyond incredible, huge portions- the minis are normal size for reference! We try to go have a date night here every few weeks, as we are from out of town. The amount of deliciousness packed in their food is overwhelming! Place seemed clean. Friendly staff. But the food just wasn't good. I can see a lot of ppl like it.. but my bread was soggy to the point I couldn't even hold it and the meat balls are huge but also bland. Meatball sandwich tasted like bread with soggy bread in the middle and bottom with plain sauce. Like I said everything about the place was good but the food in my opinion. Don't think I'd give this place a 2nd chance.

Best tasting California Sandwhich I have had so far. The reason for me taking off 3 stars is their hygiene. The cashiers cut your bun for you after the kitchen staff make it. The cashiers wipe the counters, have their hands in their pocket, handle money, scratch their face and hair and dont wash their hands and completely press down your bread. Luckily we put the filling in another softer bun for the kids anyways. This time I also put my filling in another bun. Unfortunately will not be returning here.

Head and shoulders above the rest, California Sandwiches set a new standard for sandwich shops that few others meet. High quality fresh chicken, veal and eggplant, nicely breaded and sauced, in generous portions. The place itself is much nicer than you'd expect from a sandwich shop. Spacious, well-lit and comfortable, it's a good choice for dining in. And unlike most sandwich shops, you can enjoy a beer there - a couple of domestics ($4.40) and imports ($5), including two Italian beers. They also offer an impressive selection of carbonated drinks, including top brands like San Pellegrino and Brio. Quality comes at a cost: the large sandwiches are $9.50. Adding cheese, onions, mushrooms and tax will bring your total to almost $14. But then again, a 12" ham sandwich at Mr. Sub next door will cost you over $10, and comparing the two is like comparing Dom Perignon to a $5-a-gallon spritzer. I do, however, wish they'd offer a choice of bread. The buns they use are okay, but don't really hold up with the thick, creamy sauce, and you end up with a tasty but wet mess in your hands. I'd gladly pay an extra $0.50 for a thick crust Italian ciabatta, as I do at Hero Certified Burgers. And while there are no handicapped parking spots nearby (and only one in the entire 230 spot plaza parking lot!), the half dozen spots right by the door are spacious and usually available, and a ramp provides for easy wheelchair access. They'll also be happy to cater your event.

I agree with the reviewer who said the sandwiches are bland. I ordered a medium hot veal and it really had no flavour. I'm shocked at the number of people that say it is the best italian sandwich they've ever had. I also agree with another reviewer that talked about the price. I've only had one experience here and it was good but not great, what stopped it from being great is small things like the lack of customer service that was provided when our order was called and we were required to walk from our seats to grab it even though we were sitting at the bar and then watching someone elses order (a regular I assume) being called and having it brought right to him. It makes you feel undervalued as a customer and luckily for this location the food is decent, I had the chicken sandwich which was good however if it came with cheese on it by default rather than being an add on I guarantee more people would have a terrific experience rather than an average experience when it came to the food. The chicken while good was also harder to eat in the sandwich due to it being several pieces as opposed to one or two larger pieces which was likely done to decrease the cooking time. I enjoyed my experience enough that I'm writing a review, I would consider eating their again and trying the Veal Sandwich as it is apparently their best offering.

Was not happy. After attending this establishment 5 or 6 times for our meals, we were then offered a card for our purchases, buy 10 l think it was and you get one sandwich free. My husband and l have been there 5 or 6 times to eat. The people know we travel in from Cambridge and would not stamp our card for at least 3 each of our visits. It just didn't seem fair when we told the girl at the cash, but she didn't care.

Visited last night - ordered 1 veal with cheese, 1 chicken with cheese and 1 mini eggplant with extra sauce and cheese on the side due to allergy (sandwich comes with cheese automatically) and 1 dry salami. All sandwiches were burnt - veal and chicken had no cheese at all with hardly any sauce. Cheese was on eggplant but was later removed by staff and put in an aluminum paper full of sauce.. terrible attention to detail. Salami was not fresh and had a foul taste. Please better yourselves - as customers we pay alot of money for this meal and not getting what you paid for is unfair especially during a pandemic when people don't have much money at all. Will not visit this location. Maple and Queensway are much better and worth driving to.

You haven't had a veal sandwich until you have had a veal sandwich from this place. They have 14 locations from Burlington on down to Toronto the only thing that they could use is one in Brantford and 25 more in other cities. The portions are immense, the staff always friendly and when I was there today there was a guy scrubbing out the big massive pot that they use for their sauce. I said to the guy you know you're really getting on down in there and it's good to see and he said to me this is the main staple for what makes us successful is our sauce and I'm going to clean it every square inch of it. The place is always super clean and that doesn't matter which one you go in they are all like that. So do yourself a favor stop in one day and get yourself one of these sandwiches. They also have chicken and steak and what I didn't know but found out today they also have fries.

I visited California Sandwiches for the first time about a month ago, first let me start off by saying that the staff are probably the best group of people I have ever encountered! I honestly felt like I had known the girls at the counter for years!! Even the customers were amazing telling me what a treat I was in for!! The sandwich went far beyond my expectations! Great sandwiches, I have tried the Meatball, Chicken, Veal, and Steak sandwiches. The 4 kinds I have tried are great but my favorite is the Chicken which I always get extra hot with the works & extra sauce (provolone cheese, onion and mushrooms). Monumental delicious sandwiches. Fantastic veal & chicken sandwiches. Good cheeses and topings. I went to the original (and back then, the only) location in Little Portugal when I was a kid. It was a mom & pop operation in a quaint setting with unbelievably delicious food. I had never before had anything like it and still remember the look and taste today of that first veal sandwich on a bun with cheese and peppers. Inside my friends and I would be surrounded by walls plastered with signed pictures and newspaper articles of Toronto Blue Jays & Toronto Argonaut players. This location is a modern version, tasteful decor and seating but a bit cold (temperature wise too), I might be wrong but I find the price point a bit high, and the calorie count the same. Yet, this is the closest location to Hamilton and for those that don't know the original this is a nice place. Ample free parking, easy access into & through the restaurant, nice washrooms, very friendly and helpful staff. Good place to take a friend for lunch. You won't be hungry until dinner time as this is one big delicious hot sandwich! Great, now my mouth is watering :)

California sandwiches are simply the very best whether it's chicken veal or meatballs I grew up in Toronto 2 blocks from the original location and have enjoyed their sandwiches for years the staff is simply amazing their sandwiches is a meal the business is a great successful story

Only ever had their veal and olives. Both are great. I highly recommend getting sauce on the side if u plan to eat your veal at home. Otherwise it'll be soggy. You're welcome! ;)

Delicious chicken sandwiches. The sauce was perfect and the jalapeno peppers were great on my hot chicken sandwiches. Sam is always so nice. I used to go to the California Sandwiches for lunch in Etobicoke 17 yrs ago when i was working in the area and Sam was there and he remembered me when I came to this location (after so many years! ????????). Genuine appreciation for customers. That's awesome. The owners at this location have got it right!! That's great to see these days when many companies fall short on good customer service. This place is 10 stars!

I was really disappointed at their spice level. I always order an extra hot veal and what I get is medium spice. The peppers are only in one or two bites and the rest of the sandwich has no heat. I noticed they sell jars of their peppers, so now I'm thinking they want me to buy a jar to get a real extra spicy sandwich. I prefer the locations in Toronto where they actually make an extra hot veal extra hot. So disappointed and wont be buying here again. At first I thought it was a one off, but I gave them a few tries to no avail. Re: I understand that it is about how many peppers put on the sandwich. What I'm trying to get across is that not enough peppers are put on an extra hot with veal.The peppers were spicy but there was barely any on though. UPDATE: I went back and ordered an extra hot veal and peppers on the side too. I had to PAY for the spice on the side. So there we have it. I'm now paying for extra spice level at this location. Back to 1 star.

I’m in compleat shock!!! I drive from Hamilton Saturday Oct 10 at 6pm just to enjoy this delicious sandwich.. and it was delicious BUT I decided to get FRIES and for $3.10 I got a SMALL hand full... I was in shock This place goes over and above to make a delicious sandwich and usually very generous and it’s portion And yet they CHEAP out on something as simple and LOW cost fries... it’s sad to see!! Wish I could post the picture of the few fries I got but it’s not letting me upload...

Outstanding customer service. Staff was very professional and friendly and took extra care to make sure my sandwich did not contain any dairy due to my lactose intolerance. Sauce was made fresh from scratch to accommodate. Quality and portion size were both very good, and prices are reasonable. Orders can take a while because they're made fresh, so budget your time. Definitely worth the wait.

I love the sandwiches from this place. The service is okay, not too bad I find. Tips here is optional so not sure what people are complaining about. Sandwiches not the healthiest but when I buy the regular sandwich, that is all I have for the day so it is okay. Very tasty!

I went today for my first time, I bought a deluxe veal sandwich.. Big disappointment, too salty, sauce it's not homemade( I know the difference) small amount of toppings( barely any tomatoes) and breading very cheap... I personally rate those sandwich worth no more than dollar...I do not reccomend at all... You can get better sandwich for less.. That's a fact..
