REVIEWS OF Richard's Coffeehouse IN Brockville

Laura B (Ikantrant)

Talk about their fresh baked muffins, their mac n cheese always ready to devour, their hot Mediterranean lunch menu and let us not forget the multiple coffee choices like other! Of course to top that is the exclusive customer experience: unmatched hospitality! Thanks Sam, the man!

Scott Russell

Lovely little coffee shop. Ask for their cappuccino, it’s the best!

Rachel Thomas

The morning breakfast was amazing along with great friendly service.

Connor Allen

Owner is vert rude coffee is quite terrible would not recommend this place

Brenda Cowan

Beautiful location and friendly service! They host events too which bring in a fun and diverse crowd!

Marten Vanderheiden

Stopped in to get out of the rain and use a little free wifi. Loved the atmosphere and got a little too comfortable considering I was too broke for a drink. Staff approached me and I honestly expected to be kicked out. They offered me a glass of water extremely kindly. Regardless of my budget or usual amount of time in the morning, I'll be coming here regularly. There's nothing I don't like about the place. The atmosphere. The people. The placement. And of course the drinks and food. 10 out of 5 in my books ????????????????????????????

Gordon Reeves

Coffee tasted like hot water. Muffin was like two giant gummies wrestling in my mouth. Mediocre overall but if you believed the rest of the reviews on here you would think the Queen of England ate here. Also the prices on the menus displayed in this app are VERY outdated.

The End

Delicious pastries! I especially recommend the spinach roll, made with puff pastry dough. ????

Rob Whaley

Incredible service and food. The music was fun too

Anna M.

The service was exceptionally slow and we were the only customers at that time, we ordered two drinks and a cookie and a baklava but for some reason it took so long. The cookie was cold and I wasn’t a fan of the baklava but that could be due to personal preference/taste. There was also someone behind the counter vaping inside.

Christi

Treats for very well loving my breakfast

Cheech Unelli

Great breakfast

Ian M

Great coffee, sweet treats, music-video setup and the owner/manager Sam is a super nice guy to chat with. No better place in town. And the clientele are very friendly too. I've had lunches there that were awesome as well. I recommemd it to all of my friends and acquaintances.

Francine Hopley

The waiter was really welcome, food was good! Nice ambiance.

Jeanne Dalby

The aromatic bold coffee and the delicious Belgian chocolate croissant was truly a wonderful experience at this trendy and friendly coffee shop.

Puppylizard “Marshmellow”

We were from out of town and we found Richard's Coffeehouse to be very friendly and welcoming. We loved the atmosphere and enjoyed the selection of music that was playing in the background. I was thrilled to get a latte on that chilly day. My only complaint was the mushroom soup - it had no mushrooms whatsoever. It was more like a hot cream soup with no recognizable flavour and topped with dried parsley flakes.

Meir Parker

Truly the greatest cafe I've ever been to. They also have macaroni muffins that are to die for!!!

Cody Holmes

Amazing dinner tonight and the live music was awesome. An absolutely great experience. Thank you so much.

Kevin Shipman

The salted carmel scone was delicious!!

Gordo Holden

Does not pay employees, but a popular place. I will not grace. My presence, in such a place. It is a popular place.

Harwinder Ahluwalia

Found that lovely place when looking for a hideout from rain. Great smoked meat sandwich, really good coffee and cakes. Amazingly friendly and funny staff and owners.

Roo

Stopped by this little gem of a shop after a visit to the Arts Centre. Very nice, modern looking place. Busy place, which is great for any small business. I had a tea & pastry which was good.

Rebecca Happy

Went in with a friend after going to the night market.. a bit late and very thirsty and hungry. What a nice place. Welcoming and the food was great.. and different from every other place. Hot chocolate yumm! Sam did not even rush us out when we stayed til the end. Both of us will be back for sure.

Susy Q

This is a cute family-run cafe with homemade baked goods and delicious coffee. I like the vibe and encouraging local businesses instead of big chains.

Eric Vice

Pastries are good, small size coffee is too little. Good music, nice environment. Freshly made omelettes and reasonable prices.

Mackenzie Richards

CHRISTOPHER MACK

Iqra Jalal

Lovely place, great coffee! They even had a kosher meat option- which means people looking for halal sandwich can also have it.

hussam rawas

Service 1 oh 1! Fantastic.

Heather Giff

Cozy, lovely atmosphere and great service. Daily meal specials and baking are very good, and good hot drinks. We go regularly for live music on Sunday afternoons.

TRANSbundu AFRICA

Great place to relax, have a cup or two and watch the world go by. Some very nice cakes and muffins, sandwiches are also available, reasonably priced.

Alisha Wilson

Wife and I stopped by for a coffee and desert. Service was friendly and classy. Coffee was good and my muffin and the wifes butter tart was very good also. A very rare pleasant experience. Thank you

Isaac

Great little restaurant. We tried the baked goods, absolutely amazing! I entered for a croissant and went out with 30 dollars in baked goods. Lots of choices, including keto--no sugar--options (my toddler adored them), and also I believe they have gluten and lactose free. Great attention, the owner/server was super friendly. They also have great phrases pasted on the walls, I enjoyed a lot the atmosphere. Definitely a must when you stop in 1,000 islands.

Bill Ault

Coolest coffee shop ever. Came there today around 6:30pm for dinner. Easy to get to and also order some food. It was soo good and the staff are the nicest people especially the man who works there. great coffeehouse . Coolest one I've ever been too.

Marge Simpson

Great service, amazing treats.

Bruce Dolan

Great coffee, tea and baked goods!

Brad MacEachern

A nice atmosphere overall. However when the staff decides they want to watch Netflix when they have visitors inside enjoying their coffee and reading it's not really nice. And it's not just Netflix on Laptop, it's on a big screen with a pretty comprehensive sound system. Even earphones to the max volume don't help. The food and coffee are delicious though. I tried their cream of vegetables soup and it was great. Their cinnamon rolls area amazing. All the pastry is home made and is delicious. If only staff was a bit more subtle when they didn't want visitors inside. I'm only in town for 3 days and was so in love in the place in my first day that I wanted to have my coffee and lunch here for the other two days. This won't happen now, I would rather go get my coffee and lunch some place else.

David Bertschi

Richard's Coffeehouse was very enjoyable and everyone there was very friendly and attentive. Please give them a try.

Bryce Dymond

Nice people and fresh food. Chilli was ???? yummy!

E. Gomez_

Always a must stop location, where passing through Brockville... Seasonal Latté are always the best at Richard's Coffeehouse. Thanks Sam!

Charles V

Richards was quite enjoyable and we'll definitely be going back.

Karen Warren

This was not a good spot, overpriced very little in terms of substance or consistency the baked goods were possible but everything else was mediocre unfortunately.

Imad Boutros

Good local spot and nice people. Very casual atmosphere a bit like a greasy spoon diner from the 90s mixed with a Montreal deli mixed with an espresso bar. The food is good with plenty of options and the coffee is good, flavored coffees are the right level of sweet not like you're drinking candy like a Starbucks.

Steve Schofield

Great food and great service

Marc

Thank you for another yummy Sunday night dinner. The roast chicken was moist. Lovely potatos and the crack corn muffins wow.

D W (Yoesmate)

Great coffee and service. Highly recommend

Marissa Woolley

Great staff and amazing coffee! My first time there I was made to feel incredibly welcome and it really did make me put it on my " places to regularly go" list. Good selection of in house baked goods for those with a sweet tooth. There are also healthy selection available. My favorite coffee place in Brockville.

Dave Tse

Perfect little place for a great cup of espresso, the old-fashioned style, not the press button SB kind of machine. Lots of delicious baked goods, and great service.

Rahul Kesarkar

Heading to Toronto from Ottawa and need a taste of some amazing brewed coffee here you go. Beautiful place amazing staff and mind blowing coffee, right combination ain’t it?! Definitely a must try in Brockville. Tell you what but a coffee and walk down the road to the beach, best feeling ever.

Johanne Cleroux-Beaupre

Best late and I've ever had outside. Being a picky coffee drinker, I usually don't expect 'great coffee' from street cafe. But I was very happy with 'lavender late', as well as matcha late which my daughter ordered.

Tim Hawkins

Love the coffee and muffins are so good definitely go back .staff are very nice to????

Chadd Kirkby (EhCasualCanadian)

I like it and have been there a lot. Their baked goods are excellent. I have had their yummy smoked meat sandwiches. I particularly enjoy their baked mac and cheese, presented as a large muffin. Note that this is a coffee house in the true sense and not a fast food joint. Be patient, and you will be richly rewarded.

Johanna Roach

Lovely atmosphere, pleasant staff, great coffee and wonderful chocolate cake!!

Ron MacDonald

Great coffee and muffins friendly staff

Jean Paquet

Great coffee and freshly baked muffins and pastries. Highly recommended

John Hilborn

Food was greasy and not prepared well. Service below par. If they are trying to promote healthy food it wasnt.

Guy Boone

Loved stopping at Richard's on our way to MTL for a delicious meal and good coffee. Friendly staff, clean restaurant and washrooms, and they recommended a beautiful destination to see in Brookville but will leave that as a surprise for you own visit.

Luc Mathieu

Tired of tim hortons not giving option to drink coffee in a mug when dining in and limited dessert option so we stopped by this coffee shop and what a great break from a long drive. The pecan cinnamon roll is the best and better coffee.

Benoit Orphanos

Comfy, cozy, great hot chocolate and friendly staff

Traveling The World

Excellent Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich Great coffee Nice ambience

Bruce Lema

Absolutely love it there. Amazing atmosphere, delicious pastries and sweets. I visited and it had live music and it was an enchanting experience for my first Coffee House.

Jean Paul Stephan

Ariana Elizabeth Books

A very pleasant neighbourhood cafe with an excellent egg omelette bagel sandwich and good coffee.

Ralf Winter

Pretty nice place. Warm and tasty breakfast and a very affordable price. Quick and great service

Scott Primeau

Wonderful place to go grab a cup of coffee. You can see St Lawrence River from a seat by the window. Lovely view of all the historical buildings while being inside one. The decor is nice with wallpaper created from vintage magazines which are interesting to look at. There is often musical entertainment. A good place to go in Brockville on a Sunday afternoon.

Lydia Workman

Lovely little spot. Excellent chai latte.

Michel G

What a gem of a coffee shop!!. It reminded me so much of my days in France. All the yummy treats are homemade including my to die for smoked meat sandwhich. I had the best hot chocolate of my life. The service was excellent with rhe owner g8ving me samples of coffee to help me find The perfect coffee bean to take home. He even let us stay past closing to allow my friends and I to catch up during these covid times The place was spotless and they adhered to the provincial health guidelines. I felt completely safe. I will definitely go back again. Fab place indeed.

Simeon Drakich

Lovely place, friendly service, fresh pastries and well brewed coffee. Thanks!

André Cyr

Really impressed! The Matcha latte was among the best I've had anywhere

Yvonne B

Great breakfast, great atmosphere. Highly recommend to anyone passing through Brockville.

Andy MacDonald

I was looking forward to visiting Richard's, having heard they have "great baklava". I picked some up to go and didn't realize until I got home that the baklava was very stale - it tastes a month old. Worse, there were no prices marked so I didn't know until I paid that it was $25. Disappointed.

Angela C

Probably the best place in Brockville to get coffee if you like to avoid chain restaurants like Tim Hortons and McDonalds. Unlike most pastry shops in Brockville, they are also open on Sunday. They also close everyday at 10PM, which is nice if you want to go out late with friends and family. My family and I went for coffee and pastries and we were extremely satisfied with everything. The owner is friendly as usual and they really did a good job renovating the place. The prices are reasonable and most pastries are freshly homemade. Coffee tastes good also. The ambiance is relaxing and has that European vibe and music no other coffee shop has in town. We will be back to taste that all day breakfast. Saw one of the plate and it looks promising!

Joshua Boursier

Very Delicious, generous, friendly and the owner is awesome, comeback indeed

Heather Mallette

Great place that knows how to make proper espresso and cappuccino. Very friendly service and nice place to stop and perk up when on the 401 nearby.

Sabine Hedi

Stopped for a bite to eat and everything was delicious.

Sveta Shvedenkova

Great coffee, great breakfast sandwich! We'll be back.

Johanna Sommer

Best coffee shop in town! Quality food and drinks. Games to play. Live entertainment. Across from Brockville Art Centre. This is the Oldest Stone Building in Brockville. The building at the corner of King Street West and Perth Street is an often overlooked part of Brockville’s past. Once known as the Nehemiah Seaman House, the structure is the oldest stone building left standing in Brockville, built in 1816 on a plot of land purchased by Seaman a year earlier for 200 After a span of 80 years, during which time the property was a residence and then a saddle and harness business, it became the site of a bloody gun battle when fox hunter Ur Lapointe, armed with a shotgun, placed himself behind a large billboard behind the Seaman building and began shooting. The ensuing gun battle left one man, Peter Moore, dead. The Seaman house was purchased in 1911 by candymaker George Howison. The family operated a confectionery there until the late 1960s when the building was rented to Cowan’s Dairy Bar. Howison’s daughters, Marion and Helen, never married and continued to live together above the main street shop until the middle of the last decade. Into their 90s. It sat dormant for years. Now it is the talk of the town.

Natalie Conti

My young friend & I went here mid afternoon on a Friday to have a little visit after coming from the nail salon. We ordered some baked goods (bagel, cookies, baked macaroni cups) & hot drinks. The food was good, & the young lady who served us at the counter was awesome. We liked the atmosphere & decor too, especially with the old vintage magazine pages stuck to the walls. This building used to be a general store called The Old Cornerstone when I was a kid, & we used to get candy there. It's nice that the whole building--which is part of Brockville's history & was originally owned by members of the Buell founding family--has been restored & renovated in recent yrs & a coffeehouse added. The only thing we didn't like is we found the older man who came in later on (the owner?) was a bit curt & dry towards my young friend when she inquired about getting a job there.

Judy Bryant

The guy with the cowboy hat is great! The food, pastries, and drinks were really good!

Erik Prashaw

We chose Richard’s from the list of options available for the River of Lights food partners. So glad we did. Great service with hot, hot chai and matcha , delish choice of any dessert and tasty savory bread/bun and best-ever Mac and cheese…baked in a large muffin paper! You won’t be disappointed!

Fawna 4you

Happened to be in brockville for work and stopped in.........AMAZING!!! Delicious coffee( had the americano), and I cant remember the name of the pastry I had but I was baked fresh this morning and was filled with feta and spinach! I highly recommend this establishment! ????????

Pierre Sabourin

Coffee is amazing and lots of fun things to do, by far my favorite spot to meet friends and enjoy a cup of coffee/tea/latte with

phillip robinson

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, prices are OK, sandwich was good but a little skimpy, only one thin slice of meat. And who puts mustard on Chicken!

Gloria K

Conveniently located on the other side of the street from the Metro grocery store and the Brockville Arts Centre, Richard's Coffeehouse offers a very good selection of professionally-baked goods that are bound to please those of you who are looking for that sort of thing, albeit more on the expensive side than you would expect from other cafes and bakeries, largely due to the more artisan-style of baking you will get there. My motto for high-end places like this one: if you can afford to go to them as often as you'd like to then by all means, do go there. You won't be disappointed. In addition to high-quality baking there is also spacious seating with a great view of King Street, a convenient location, and it is now wheelchair-accessible. Plus there are some nice deals like coffee and a muffin for under $3 (at the time this review was posted). Good, friendly and attentive service and very locally owned. Highly recommended!

Michael Mason

I took the train to Brockville for a meeting, but had some time to kill, so I stopped in here. The service was fast and friendly, good coffee, delicious pastries, and a really pleasant place to sit and read or do some work.

Didi “Qamar” The Human

Nice place for a coffee and a sandwich. Great atmosphere for a quiet conversation

Sam Cowan

Sam is very kind and friendly. They have a good selection of food and drinks that we enjoy very much!

Dustin Russell

Nice cafe

Derry Williams

Delicious coffee and muffins. Can't beat the coffee and muffin special.

David Thompson

Friendly staff and lovely ambiance but, our affogatos weren’t made right. There was less than half scoop of vanilla ice cream floating on top of a small cup of coffee with syrup instead of a single or double shot of espresso. A coffee house should know how to make coffees! There were no labels and prices for the cakes and pastries. Not gonna come back.

Andrew Levesque

I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and a mint tea. The bagel was delicious! It had fresh strawberries on top of the cream cheese. Very friendly staff and a great place to sit and watch the world go by.

Fouad Zebian

Excellent espresso. The owner is very friendly. The place has a welcoming ambiance.

Dong Li

This morning, I had a puff pastry filled with spinach and feta cheese. It had just come out of the oven and was absolutely delicious. Beautiful pastry. A great treat.

Perry Prete

If u want an old style coffee house instead of the pre Fab institutional generic cookie cutter shops, try this place. It's quirky with take that wobble, mismatched chairs and good food. Two things. Prices are much higher than chains and we found the serving size a tad small if not delicious. So why did I give it a five star rating despite the price and serving size, the staff were friendly and so nice.

Fabio Ruiz

Absolutely in love with this cute Cafe! It has delicious drinks, food, and yummy baked treats ???? Definitely a must try. I recommend the chai latte with a shot of French vanilla.

Stephanie Tan

One of the better "coffee shops" in Brockville . Friendly staff , owner continues to make improvements and tries to meet customers wants and seems to welcome new design ideas and new menu ideas as well. Looking forward to seeing this business grow . Oh! and amazing pastries , breakfast and lunch items .

Jenn EcoWays

The atmosphere is welcoming. The drinks are delicious. The service is impeccable. The new regular stop for myself, my wife and my friends.

Cass

I popped into Richard's after a performance at Brockville Arts Center. It's very conveniently located right across from there and is open till 10pm. I got a cappuccino and a strawberry cream cheese Danish/strudel. Both of which were quite good. The pastry was flaky and the filling was plentiful and not dried up. The cappuccino does have cinnamon sprinkled across the top. So if your not a fan of cinnamon be sure to let them know. I myself prefer a light dusting of Cocoa as I find the cinnamon overpowers the coffee. But each to his own. They have lots of pastries in hand as well as what's on the menu I posted a pic of. However, they don't have prices posted of the pastries in the dessert cabinet. The staff is quite friendly if a little hurried. Overall a nice cozy place. Busy on a Monday @11:45.

Penny Buck

Yassin Wissal

Stopped in here to get out of the rain. They claimed to make the best hot chocolate which was backed up with some amazing hot chocolate. This place is friendly and inviting.

Anisa Lancione

This is apparently a Philly Cheese steak sandwich... Only reason I'm giving it 3 stars and not 1 is because I didn't end up paying for it. Can you blame me for complaining?

Steve Barrett

It was very well organized he had plexiglass Shields around every table there was live entertainment and there was plexiglass around the entertainment I just felt very secure in my own bubble

Leila Dagher

My Mom and I stopped in at Richards for the first time to have some breakfast. We were instantly welcomed into a warm atmosphere that had been retrofitted with Plexi Glass between tables, in an effort to keep customers distanced and safe during the Pandemic. The staff were friendly and engaged us in conversation. We didn't know what to order because there were so many delicious choices on display, so we bought a variety of items, some for breakfast and some for later. Everything was scrumptious but our favorites were the fresh out of the oven croissant, the omelette bagel and the corn and cranberry lemon muffins! One of the staff, Alex, walked over to us and asked if we would like to "taste test" a new ice cream flavor and at 915am we were thrilled to oblige! To our surprise we were delivered two full cones. Overall it was a great experience and we look forward to foing back.

Sam Salem

Very pricey but I get it. He's got rent to pay and has to charge accordingly. Overall, a lot quieter than Timmie's
