great food
Tuna tacos are amazing
(Translated) Quality product. Fish and chips of different fish and also the option to take them steamed. The tuna tacos are awesome. And the halibut taken from any of the very rich presentations. The oysters are so fresh!
Salmon sandwich ....unreal. Expensive but hey when in the wharf ....great service and food was presented well. Will do again !
Wanted a big heaping of west coast seafood during my trip to Victoria and this place did not disappoint! Located in a scenic spot and even if there’s a line up .. it moves fast.
Salmon chowder is impossible to eat. It’s way too salty. I couldn’t taste anything except of salt.
Best in town
Discovered that the Fish Store has a dedicated fryer for fish and chips to be made gluten free and it turned into a must stop for us on our latest trip to Victoria. Glad we tried it out, it's nice being able to enjoy the things I used to, without feeling left out (and having to eat salad with protein on top...). If I could I'd give the fish and chips 6 stars!!! Thanks for being inclusive Fish Store!
Oysters, oysters, oysters. I came here for oysters and also enjoy sitting outdoors when the weather is nice. Oysters here were always fresh, there are many sauces you can choose too. Other things on the menu also looks so good. Tuna tacos were my favourite there as well. It took a bit long for the food to be ready and sometimes there are no table available but overall, it was easy to sit down and enjoy
Great food and even better service. I'm sending a special thanks to Peter for sending my jacket the whole way to Florida when I accidentally left it behind!
Tacos are very tasty and fresh. Was hoping for flour shells instead of corn.
Everything was perfect. Halibut was excellent. Nice patio area with heat. Fish and Chips without a lot of grease. Well done @The Fish Store.
Fresh Salmon, cod and mussels were very fresh and cooked nicely for my dinner at home. Price is reasonable for the quality. Always a treat and pleased with the consistency and service here. Thank you.
The food is consistently good, very fresh and the only place I trust in Victoria with my seafood. Crispy fish and chips! Yum (Awesome oysters)
Came here during their happy hour between 4pm to 5pm and ordered their discounted oysters. Prices were fair, the oysters were very fresh and delicious. The service was excellent.
Good, fresh seafood. Friendly and helpful staff.
An hour wait for a terrible meal, and it wasn't just us. There was a long line of people waiting to complain about the wait for their food. When we finally got our food, the fries were burnt, soggy, and bland. Absolutely ridiculous. Go to Barb's instead, a couple shops down the pier. Barb's food is at least passable.
New favorite in Victoria. Incredibly tasty. ????
Better than Barb’s. Excellent local oysters. Couple of good beers on tap. Small patio gets crowded. We were steered here by a local friend... good choice!
Delicious seafood right at the water! It was pretty rocky but great view. The scallop special was great as was the halibut sandwich. The soup wasn't my favourite but we cant wait to come try more! Update: the halibut tacos were great, they had fresh tasty ingredients and a nice kick. The halibut sandwich was great again. If you live nearby, I would absolutely recommend the fresh halibut. It was expensive but the best piece of fish I have ever made/eaten! Very easy to cook as well.
My Celiac daughter and I have enjoyed the gluten-free fish and chips many times at the Fish Store. It's one of our favorite places to eat in Victoria.
Buck a shuck with beers on the wharf.... amazing
Love the salmon jerky!! It was soft and delicious. When I mentioned we were going to the beach. She even gave me some free ice to pack the salmon. It was a great snack for the beach.
Limited selection but very fresh and good
We ordered a soup, fried cod and salmon, 6 oysters and... scallops. We asked for takeout because I was finding it really dizzy having the dock keep moving on the water and they said it was available. We waited about 10 minutes for our food which was unrealistically quick but when we got our food packaging, they mentioned that they didn't have any plastic bags. We had to carry 4 big containers of food. It was raining like crazy and we didn't have enough hand to carry everything so we decided to put 2 of the boxes into the shopping bag I was already carrying. It was a paper shopping bag and I put one hand out the bottom to make sure it didn't all just fall out he ground. It was a 20 min walk, and about 10 min after we started walking back to our hotel, I felt lots of water dropping on my pants but expected it to be Rain. And 5 min after that someone mentioned that my shopping bag was soaked with the juice from the scallops and there was a big hole in the middle of the bag. The water drops I felt on my pants was sauce from the scallops. Rain was the biggest reason but the other biggest reason was because they gave out the liquid food in a paper container. I think it's a common sense that paper can't withstand liquid, and that it will leak. I was getting really stressed walking in the rain with soaked paper bag that was falling apart from liquid falling out of the scallops and having that juice all over my pants. I would have felt much better if the food tasted good but it was definitely not enough to make me happy again.
Nice location. Pretty good food. Cruise ship proces tho.
Sold us spoiled scallops and wouldn't replace or refund "because of covid". Tried to give them a chance to make it right and they failed. Won't go back.
An instant favourite for my partner and I! Second time back today and it didn’t disappoint. The Superior Oysters (Kusshi selection today) were succulent and delicious. The Halibut Fish and Chips was juicy, soft, and with the right amount of batter. We enjoyed our meal with Ocean views in this scenic oasis
Just regular, always busy though
My main source of Protein (and batter) after a whale watching trip. I usually go for the fishwiches, or a tuna rice wrap, but today decided for the BC halibut from the frybar. As this was my first real meal I went all in for two pieces of fish. Thank god I was really hungry, it is quite a meal. Don’t be fooled by the slightly pale batter, it’s crispy and delicious. Chips are quite tasty as well. Friendly and fast service comes as garnish.
Loved the gluten-free fish and chips! There was a bit of a wait during lunchtime.
Great food but a long wait
(Translated) Delicious fish'n'chips! The "zone" for consuming alcohol is very nice. (Original) Délicieux fish'n'chips ! La "zone" pour consommer de l'alcool est très sympa.
Purchased some fresh sockeye salmon and brought home to prepare an amazingly tasty dish. Friendly staff. I highly recommend.
(Translated) The oysters were not fresh. Overall it was the best !! The salmon chowder little thing was okay. I ordered sturgeon sturgeon with fish and chips and it was so delicious and homemade tartar sauce was so delicious! Friendly staff and extremely fresh fish.
The staff are just the best. The patio is lovely. The oysters are perfect. The accompanying minonettes are truly the best. Absolutely magical.
We tried happy hour oysters and they were fresh and delicious. If it wasn't happy hour though, I think they are a little pricy given that you are sitting outside and getting no service.
Service was great and we had great crab and chowder, but the shrimp and scallops were $17 and there was 3 shrimp and 2 scallops, that's not a meal....
Mussels are so great! Tacos are a little overpriced but still good. Alcoholic drinks available
By far the best fish and chips at Fisherman's Wharf
Very tasty salmon n fries! Only downside was the cold breeze from the sea front.
Best fish and chips. Anywhere. Also, the tartar sauce is remarkable.
(Translated) Halibut and chips are great, for me richer than other famous ones, and there is usually less queue. Recommended !! (Original) El halibut and chips está buenísimo, para mi más rico que el de otros más famosos,y además suele haber menos cola.Recomendado!!

Great fresh seafood on the dock! Everyone was very friendly
Cool vibe. Good service
Must stop by to pick up some smoked salmon belly. Their seafood is fresh but on the expensive side.
Great food and great service! The staff are excellent!
The best gluten free fish and chips I've ever had. So fresh and flaky. Run, don't walk to enjoy some yourself.
Amazing Experience here and amazing oysters. The fish was delicious and the salmon chowder was great.
Great place for fish and seafood. Cool building tucked away.
Very celiac friendly. Dedicated fryers so no need to worry about cross contamination. The pieces of fish may look small but i was stuffed after finishing the meal.
Super fresh sea food. totally recommend them
Dish quality good, flavors nice. Bit more expensive than it should have been bit not aggressively so. Location during a walk was good.
It's okay. Fish wasn't as crispy as I'd hope and the fish tacos were a bit dry. The salmon rice wrap and chowder were delicious though.
Pricey but tasty. Fish tacos were good (halibut and tuna).
Always a treat to have the gluten free fish and chips. Great crispy batter. Even the coleslaw is amazing. Highly recommend it!
Best seafood stew
The fish tacos are out of this world. I always get oysters because they are always fresh.
(Translated) The best place to eat fresh seafood in Victoria. The soup (clam chowder) was just great and the bread was great too. Same thing for the main course we took. It was not too expensive. Although we did not like the crab, it was served with good sauces and it was fresh, but was not to our liking.
Not fresh at all.....
Halibut was reasonable priced. Selection of fresh fish was limited. Smoked salmon was very salty and oily - not great. We couldn’t even finish it.
I enjoyed the BC Halibut fish taco, the fries were delicious, I might have ate some of my spouse's and they have Hoyne Dark Matter on tap which was a plus for me
Had the fried oysters absolutely delicious and very fresh. Would definitely go back again.
Visiting from Toronto, had their halibut fish sandwich and salmon chowder, both were off the chart delicious and fresh, yet the price was so offordable. Wish to have them in Toronto. Sidenote : The owner has created all the recipes drawing on his extensive experience in the seafood restaurant industry in Vancouver back in the day. All the items on their menu are created from scratch in house and the seafood that is featured on their menu is as local as possible. They are the FIRST 100% Ocean Wise seafood restaurant and retailer in North America and probably the world, but the World is impossible to verify. This means that all the seafood they sell comes from unthreatened stocks and is sustainably harvested as verified by the Ocean Wise program at the Vancouver Aquarium.????
Came here during their happy hour between 4pm to 5pm and ordered their discounted oysters. Prices were fair, the oysters were very fresh and delicious. The service was excellent.
Everything was perfect. Halibut was excellent. Nice patio area with heat. Fish and Chips without a lot of grease. Well done @The Fish Store.
We ate here by chance last weekend and it was amazing. The fried oysters are amazing, the order came with lots of fries, tartar sauce and coleslaw. The oysters are perfect. Fried and crispy but super juicy on the inside because they're quite deep. The food was so good we came back the next day for more. Biting into the fried oysters or fried fish with their tartar sauce was some of the best food I've ever eaten, and they offer a full service drink menu of coffee, soda, beer, wine and have super strong heaters in the seated area. Chasing that tasty combo of fries oysters with tartar sauce with a nice IPA. I would recommend this place to everyone. *Also they have gluten free batter available which was great*.
Worst fish and chips ever had. Aweful!!!
Their food isn't as fancy as red fish gold fish but what they serve is fresh and flavourful seafoods. Everytime I hit up Victoria we will always visit this place. Happy hour has buck a shuck oysters... Some of the freshest you can have. My wife isn't a fan but still downed half a dozen herself.....
Lovely shop on the Harbour for fresh fish and chips. Covered in and heated eating area for those rainy days. Enjoyed the flight of local beers as well.
My favourite fish and chip store in Victoria! They’ve also got gluten-free batter!
Worst service ever
Really nice spot on the water. Was a little pricey as it's in a tourist area, but food quality and taste was on point! Had the BC halibut taco and superior oysters, which were some of the best I ever had!
(Translated) Ba (Original) Ba
40 minute wait for a wrap with a bit of fish. The staff is more concerned about looking cool while they salt the fries and toss them about.
Got food poisoning from the Oyster Stew..... Overpriced and not worth it.
Very tasty fresh oysters! Pretty worth a walk from inner harbor to here having local seafood during sunset! Astonished!????
(Translated) You can eat delicious small raw oysters. There is an oyster discount during happy hour. (Original) 美味しい小振りの生牡蠣が食べられます。ハッピーアワーなら牡蠣割引あります。
Picked up some mussels and salmon jerky. Both were very good, unfortunately a couple of mussels were duds. But very friendly service. Oyster bar is closed.
Great food, we had two pieces of fried bc halibut (26$) and that’s enough for a lunch for two people if you are not super hungry. The price of the food is high though but that’s a very touristic area. There’s a lot of place to eat outside which is great.
One of our favorites! They have a really good gluten free option!
The best Gluten Free fish and chips ever! You can't even tell the difference! The West coast combo is always perfect and awesome coleslaw too!
Awesome food and relaxed vibe by the water
Great place for some gluten free fish and chips. Celiac Friendly ????
Had a great time! Loved the food! Fish and chips and the 3 way chowder was so good that I forgot to take a picture. Except the oysters!
Really great gluten and dairy free options, including excellent fish and chips.
Best gluten free fish and chips this side of the Johnson St bridge.
A must for any seafood lovers
We stopped by here to have our lunch. They have amazingly tasty fish and chips. We ended up making second order "to go" - to take it with us to hotel for dinner. My favorite was halibut. Everything is extremely freshly made.
Really nice and fresh food!
Not impressed.
The best place to buy a salmon soup and salmon teriyaki wrap in BC. I have visited the store many times over the past three years, and they always have consistent, high quality food given the price point. Although the seating is usually taken in their own area, there are benches where you can eat in a picnic-like setting.
Gluten free fish and chips! Always a great find for a celiac. It was delicious!
Got the albacore tuna tacos. Delicious tasting salsa and sear on the fish! We were full so didn't eat too much. We got some fish to feed the seals that swim up to the dock! Super cute and love that they're wild seals that are so friendly!
Dine in
Great place to pick up fresh seafood when in Tofino! Surprisingly there are not many places on the wild west coast of Vancouver Island to buy fresh seafood for visitors and locals alike so this location is a welcome sight.
They have a great buck a shuck deal from 4-5pm!
Great food, and you can feed the seals!
Super fresh seafood.
Good food and cold beer to people watch and get some sun on the Fisherman’s Wharf. The wharf is a floating barge which adds to the experience. Make sure to stop by while in Vic.
Ok
We were on our way back to the city and was looking for live crabs to take home but the two famous crab places were all out so we just thought we would try our luck on this place and we hit a gold mine because we saw live crabs being sold. Lady was very accomodating and prices were reasonable. We happily bought crabs and fresh tuna for sashimi. Yum!
The food was delish. Salman and chips... mmmmm. 3 salmon chowder mmmmmm. Fish taco mmm A wrap, mmmmmm Nice toasty crispy rosemary bread with the chowder. A bit of a wait 5-10 minutes while they prepare the food but they give you a pager/beeper to hold until the food is ready.
Bought some salmon, cod, scallop and oyster for camping here. Really fresh and top quality local product. Super friendly staff. Lobe it. If yoi like fish you should visit.
Fish tacos were tasty but over priced at one little chuck of fish for $6-8$ each. Oysters were schucked pretty roughly, oysters were mangled. Their oyster sauces were all too salty as well.
Fantastic ambiance. Great food. Caters to gluten free diet. Steamed crab is to die for. Buck a shuck at 4 pm daily. Great on tap beer and cider selection.
The service was pretty bad. They weren’t friendly at all
When we arrived we ordered and no one told us they were closing early. We set in the bar area and they kicked us out. Sat on patio area until they brought our food. It was a hurry up and eat leave situation. Employees were ok but should let customers know if your closing. The food was good. Not worth the price so very expensive. Its ok but wont go back.
The small fried oysters that I ordered today only had 3 oysters for $12. It was more like a large French fry order. The oysters were average compared to what I've had elsewhere in Victoria. The two fish tacos that I ordered lacked toppings, seasoning, and the presentation was sloppy. No wonder all the places around were lined up and this place had no line when we showed up.
The oysters are very delicious. A white seal always swims around.
The neighbouring place had a long line so ended up here and loved the West Coast combo Cod & Salmon fish & chips. I loved it.
Hands down the best fish and chips ive had! So fresh and good quality halibut fish. Wasn't a big fan of their oyster fries though.
EXCELLENT FOOD! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. you really get your money's worth
Excellent gluten free fish and chips with a designated fryer. Light and crispy... Awesome!!!
(Translated) We ordered the salmon taco and the tuna taco and they were both delicious. Highly recommended (Original) Pedimos el taco de salmón y el de atún y los dos estaban buenísimos. Muy recomendado
I really liked their GF salmon fish and chips, and of course didn't fall sick! Their tartar sauce is good and can't wait to come back again and try theirs oysters.
Amazing seafood!!
Terrific! The "locals" we met living in the houseboats by the wharf suggested choosing this food-boat for lunch and I can confirm that this was sage advice. I had the steamed clam meal which arrived in a Chinese-food-style take-out box, replete with immaculately cleaned shells, each containing juicy, fresh-tasting clam meat, big as prunes. It was served with a piece of rosemary focaccia (delicious in its own right) which the inveterate wharf-diners would know is best saved for the end of the meal (when your box is clear of clam shells) so that it can be used to sop up the rich butter-garlic broth in which the clams are steamed and served. It was so flavourful that I cleared the flaps at one corner of the box so that I could drink the remaining broth that I wasn't able to soak up with the bread -- in as discreet a manner as I could, being in public and all. Also had a bite of the battered cod. Light, crispy batter fluffed around juicy white flakes the size of dominoes. I would eat every meal here if I could.
Fresh Oyster
Excellent service and knowledge. Would go here for seafood in the Tofino area.
I give it 5 stars for what it is. We had the seared scallops with jumbo shrimps and the smoked fish platter. Never thought smoked salmon would be so buttery. Heavenly taste with a great pint of locally brewed ISA.
Fish Store moving to Industrial Way and now a wonderful Vegan eatery. I am a not a vegetarian and loved the food and left feeling very satisfied.
Excellent Seafood
Grabbed a couple of fresh salmon fillets, while camping, from this shop. Loved them! Fresh, good price and so delicious. Store is not busy but always steady with people, coming in and out. Clearly a stop for many. Offered a wide range of frozen and fresh fish/seafood. Friendly staff as well.
Excellent fresh crab cooked to order. A must have if you find yourself at Fisherman's Wharf!
Had their oysters almost everyday while I was staying in Victoria BC Canada. Their clam chowder was amazing too!
Love it.
To be honest, as a Brit I may be holding this place to higher than average standards but I wasn't impressed. Very expensive considering we waited 30 minutes for a small portion of mediocre fish with "twice cooked chips" which are essentially burnt french fries. Wouldn't recommend.
Nice location and food but service is slow
Great setting for this place, good range of very fresh and local seafood cooked to order. Can get pretty busy, which means longer wait times. We had to wait 30 minutes for our fried oysters but they were worth it - cooked perfectly and juicy, tasted so fresh.
closed!!!
Stopped by this place on our way to a resort on the west coast - and so glad we did. We had the 2 piece halibut and chips (gluten free), and the steamed clams. The fish was extremely fresh, and the tartar sauce (homemade) was delicious. The clams were served in a herby, garlicky buttery broth. The prices may seem high for some, but I am always suspicious of 'cheap' fish, so happy to pay the extra knowing it's sustainable and fresh. Oh, we stopped on our way back for round two :)
Best halibut in town!!
The fish part of the meal was very good, but other parts of the meal were average.. The wait was 35 mins and it really wasn't crowded. Small food prep area it seems. I think they'll be a gold mine if they can increase their space and/or efficiency, and freshen up just a few items.
Order a piece of halibut and salmon and we must say the salmon was nice and tender and surprisingly not dry. Can't wait to visit in the summer again! Follow us on Instagram for more @victoriasfoodie
Love the gluten-free fish and chips.
Had the Fries Wild Salmon, tasty! Decent portion. Definitely recommend!
The salmon soup is just amazing
2021.11 oh man super delicious, salmon chowder not the super creamy one but taste is right. Fried halibut is fresh. The best is the scallop, 1 lb stream, speechless, super fresh. Can't pick on them. Don't forget their location is with ocean view, relaxing
Only one thing needs saying. GLUTEN FREE FISH AND CHIPS!
Amazing for gluten free, grease-free, FRESH fish and chips and oysters!
Fresh Seafood !!!
Service was knowledgeable and the crab tasted good (worth the wait) However, the oysters were not worth the cost.
Really good oysters! Also, the views are impeccable.
I give it 5 stars only because I LOVE their happy hour 4-5 for buck a shuck fresh oysters!! Also tried the deep fried oyster but it was ok prefer them raw. I would definitely come back for happy hour when we come visit Victoria again !
Best halibut on the island.
A bit pricy though
Amazing Cold Smoke salmon lox, one of the best I've ever eaten. The Chinook Salmon was very expensive, as it was line caught and local, but also delicious. You won't regret buying your fish here and its at least 20% cheaper than the smoked salmon house.
Wait is too long, smaller portion compared to another fish and chip place.
Very popular and very polite workers. Food looks great and taste as good
I love the halibut fish and chips so tasty superb! Oyster is amazing with reasonable pricd
I love this place. So great to have a gluten free option for fish n chips
So....six months late. But this place is amazing!
Fresh grilled Halibut tacos here! Need I say more? I would say this place is an absolute must to try in Victoria.10 stars given if i could! Seafood lovers you will not be disappointed. Tons of fresh options here to choose from raw oysters to steamed crab, fish n chips, and chowders. Oh did I mention the Halibut tacos? ????
Best place to buy herring to feed the seals.
The food was great! Had one of every fish fry and a chowder and the Green salad. I can't believe there was no line! This place is a must! Bravo to the boys on the line cooking all that great food!
Trying out their buck a shuck when I was in Victoria. Oyster was fresh but a little small (I guess we can't complain since it's only $1). We also ordered fish and chips and it was okay
We ordered two bowls of soup (oyster stew and salmon chowder with bread), which were very tasty, however the gal at the till was downright grumpy and although the soup was good, it took 20 min to get it to go and the two bowls cost us just over $26. Food was five star, but rest of the experience was only three.
This is good place to have seafood. I had west coast combo (salmon and halibut) pan fried. It was very delicious
Very good fresh fish fishwiches!
Oyster is very fresh. We would give 5 stars if it is not too pricy. ...
Oysters and halibut were both decidedly funky, and then they seated four guys literally on top of us at the bar. No attempts at any kind of standards. Terribly disappointing.
I love this place!!! This was the first time I visit Victoria. We have limited options for eating out because of the vac***e, but this was the greatest choice :) We had deep fried oysters, cod and raw oysters. Literally everything was good!!! And they can make it Gluten free as well. We actually went there two days in a row ❣️ I'm excited to visit again and try more food ????
Amazing place to eat at Fisherman's wharf! Staff was very friendly and food tasted great! When we ordered the scallops in the shell, but found multiple scallops still closed, the staff went above and beyond in making sure the customer experience was exceptional. Would highly recommend and will be back.
Very good selection of fish, with a local emphasis. Picked up 4 live crabs to cook at our hotel, and they were great quality. Friendly staff, keeping to sensible COVID rules which I really appreciate.
Surprisingly awesome food given the location! We enjoyed everything—halibut, cod, oysters and smoked salmon. Even the fries were amazing.
Don’t eat here. The food are expensive and my Salmon Soup is just so-so. This is not surprising in such a tourist area. However the worst part is the rude service. One of the women there was rude and started yelling at customers to kick us out as they tried to close early. The wharf closes at 8pm but this place somehow tried to close at 7. I just think if this place doesn’t enjoy serving customers, then just don’t do the business here. Why ruin everyone’s mood while you shopkeepers ain’t happy either?
Solid food, okay prices.
The cod was delicious, however; I asked if they had gluten free fish and chips and I definitely did not get gluten free! I am gluten intolerant and was ill the remainder of the evening.
The best smoked salmon we ate during our 3 months visit to Canada (east & west). Nice lady served us and explained the differences. Also nice to mention: we could eat it on spot, though it was a take-out.
AMAZING seafood! Can’t wait to return, I went there last year during a work trip and it’s still memorable.
Great selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff.
OMG I order 1 Dozen oysters and an order of muscles which came with 30 muscles for $28.00 A Buck a Shuck between 4pm and 5pm they were delicious incredible location too one of the best places in BC for fresh seafood. Oh and did I mention they are licensed and I enjoyed a Fat Tug Beer.

Everything seems to close once November hits.. thankfully they were still open. Never had salmon done this style, personally very picky about salmon so it was okay but wouldn't order it again. Cod was amazing!
An absolutely great place!!! I'm a seafood addict, and the Fish Store easily satisfied my addiction when I holidayed in Tofino last September. The choice is awesome! Staff very friendly. And the live crabs? Great!!! I noted a comment below claiming the price for the crabs were a bit high. I beg to differ. After spending many holidays at Tofino, I can honestly say the prices are right on the mark, even cheaper when one considers the quality of the product. Big honkers!!! The way I like them. And the staff was very careful to pick out the big ones for me from the tank. Not to mention they were very kind to my pooch, Kuula the Yellow Lab Retriever. She was welcomed in the store, and helped me shop. But more often than not, she hung around the front counter where she knew there just might be a smoke-salmon treat for her. And there always was. I highly recommend this store. It's the best I've experience in my years of holidaying at Tofino.

Unfortunately not what we expected. We ordered the halibut malo which indicated a *hint* of curry, however it was full curry and not much halibut. The halibut taco was decent, the west coast stew was a huge disappointment. The shrimps were old and definitely had freezer burn. The clams and mussels were extremely fishy and the fish was over cooked.
Amazing fresh seafood, they smoke all of their own fish and have live Dungeness crabs, previous review mentioned the crab are overpriced but this is not true, they have competitive prices and are even cheaper than the crab we saw in Vancouver. Lots of seasonings and local products. Staff are very kind and knowledgeable about seafood.
Excellent fresh seafood
Eat. Here.
The clams were heavenly. the Halibut was the best I have ever had. Must try.

Love this place! Must stop if you are visiting Victoria! ????????
The Fish Store has a great selection of seafood and offers great pricing to them. I love their curried mussels. Every time I get them, I always get questions asking what it is. They're honestly pretty yummy. This place is incredibly busy during rush hours, so I would recommend trying their fish and chips during down times. I made the mistake of getting halibut fish and chips during lunch rush and they came out slightly overcooked. It's alright though, it was still tasty. I'm sure they are fantastic when cooked properly. The staff for The Fish Store are nice and offer great suggestions on food if you need help deciding what to get. This is the one of the places that sells fish for the seals, which makes interactions funny when people ask where to buy the fish from. Obviously the answer would be The Fish Store, but since people don't understand that that is the actual name of the store, they think I'm being a smart aleck.
This is our go to Fish and Chips place in Victoria. Great food and friendly staff. Try the Salmon chowder and the cod fish and chips. Great sitting in the outdoor area.
Fantastic fish and chips we had here when on holiday. Was surprised when they served coleslaw with the fish and chips. It was delicious though x
Right by the pier... Fresh seafood. Very nice staff...
Very slow! Waited half hour for fried fish. When I asked to dine inside, the staff asked me if there's space inside? Bad service. Food is ok. Coleslaw is inedible.
(Translated) I ordered 3 way salmon chowder at soups and west coast combo at fry bar and it tasted good. If you visit this area, I recommend this restaurant. (Original) soups에서 3 way salmon chowder 와 fry bar에서 west coast combo 를 시켜 먹었는데 맛이 괜찮았습니다. 이쪽 지역 방문 하시면 이 식당을 추천 합니다.

Delicious fish and chips and tasty oysters!
Mmmm, mmmm, MMMMM! Little pricey but worth it in my opinion. The fries are crispy, the (house made) tarter sauce is rich and creamy, the fish...moist and flaky with a delicious (not greasy) batter. Nice cold (local) brew to wash it down...what a great finish to a great day on the waterside ????
First time trying fresh oysters and they were delicious.. bought two steamed crabs good but it was way over priced..
(Translated) Great oysters !!! (Original) Отличные устрицы!!!
Ordered 1 piece cod meal. Received a very small piece of fish that was like a fish stick, and the fries were soggy
Good fresh fish here. There are oysters for a dollar at certain times.
(Translated) The oysters are superb, in a shop called the fish store. Oysters have to match the sea water in the shell (Original) 生蚝超棒,在一家叫the fish store的店。生蚝就得配着壳里那一泡海水
(Translated) Nice quality but little choice (Original) Bel qualité mais peu de choix
What a great place to grab some fresh shucked oysters. The staff was helpful with pointing me in the direction of the most popular vs. their personal favourite sauces to accompany the fresh oysters. I was delighted to see Driftwood Brewery’s Fat Tug available. The fries I ordered on the side were hot and fresh with perfect texture. I’ll definitely be returning in the near future.
This place is much better than Red fish blue fish where you need to wait hour long to get your food and food is good but you will write a review and give 5 stars because you are so hungry to say any food is good?! Anyway, my daughter 7 years old eat entire stem clams I even have no chance to try one, I tried the sauce which maybe a little salty but they have bread for you to eat with sauce, super! Their salmon chowder, my son just kept eating with bread, Their Japanese style seafood wrap, yummy yummy, my wife and I both agree they are really good. If you have kids, come here and don't go Red fish and blue fish, those seals in the water will well entertain your kids while you are waiting for your food which we only waited for about 15 mins!
Delicious high quality fish. Ordered several dishes including salmon fish and chips, a salmon chowder. Everything was excellent, a bit slow since we had to wait a bit but worth it.
The fried oyster is not fresh at all.
Excellent fish and chips and great mussels. Not cheap but fantastic quality. Will return.
Fresh halibut tacos - awesome!
Curry mussels ????
Very good fish and chips
Such an amazing place! Fish and sea fruit was so tasty!
2nd visit in a few years, it's just as good and maybe even better this time around. Great fried oysters, thin batter, well seasoned. 5 plump pcs in a large order. Tried the steamed mussels also and that was fresh. Plenty of seating at the wharf.
Love this place alway come here.
Excellent Salmon chowder and must try Salmon fish n chip
Food is decent (Halibut fishwich, tuna bowl and beer) but they cashier got confused on my order and ordered the wrong thing. He said he would refund me some of the money to exchange my order but ended up charging me extra even after I asked him if he was sure that it was correct. He seemed confused on how to work the till. The chef apologized for them getting their order wrong and seemed like she genuinely cared. A bit pricey but it is a tourist area. I saw the tacos people got which were quite small happy I didn't a small portion.
Great people watching. Fast food.
Beautiful location with stunning views and fresh seafood however the prices are definitely on the higher side and their competitors offer some better deals. The crab was definitely not worth it, we paid almost $100 for a 2lbs crab. The only good thing was the deep fries oysters, the other items we or we ordered in the photos were only mediocre. Their fries really needs improvement as they are mushy and bland.
Excellent gluten free fresh fish, for someone with celiac disease this means everything, it's so nice to find an eating place that takes gluten free seriously and does it safely and really nice to be able to eat out and not worry about being sick due to cross contamination. We ate here twice while on our first holiday to Victoria and both times we had excellent safe gluten free battered cod fish and fries with their excellent homemade tartar sauce, it was so good. I can't wait to make a trip to Victoria again one day just so I can have some more of their gluten free cod fish!!
Amazing salmon tartare, shrimps and scallops and mussels. Staff is very friendly!
The crab was twice the price of another local option. It’s was my only option, so fine. But the woman working behind the counter was miserable and ignored me when I greeted her. Continued to ignore me for another 4 minutes after that too. Won’t go back unless it’s my only option.
Gluten free fish & chips! So delicious. The fries are the BEST!
The fish is really good but the sides need a lot of work. Very quaint place. Prices are expensive for the amount of food but it's a tourist spot so people who dont venture outside of fisherman's wharf won't mind paying the price.
Purchased the "premium oysters" for $20 when I received them I was disgusted to see they were raw. No where on the sign did it state they were raw. Red fish blue fish takes the cake on this one. They're oysters are cooked.
Fresh delicious fish and chips! Nothing more to say.
Incredible food! Went back for seconds immediately. Also offers a delicious craft cider, which has proven to be a difficult find on drink menus.
Lovely shop on the Harbour for fresh fish and chips. Covered in and heated eating area for those rainy days. Enjoyed the flight of local beers as well.
It is hard to find better fish tacos and/or fish & chips in the city! Wonderful service with plenty of gluten-free options.
As usual, the ambiance of the Wharf, the business the smells and the ever presence of the ships and boats, makes the enjoyment of Barb's fish and Chips a feast at any time of the year! Always reminds me of my time at sea !
We had fried oysters, salmon tacos, halibut tacos, and edamame wraps. Wraps and tacos were all spongy. The fish itself wss good, but all overpriced. Stingy with the wifi- have to check in on Facebook to use it.
Over priced live crabs!
The best gluten free fish and chips! And everything my non gluten free bf has gotten, he has loved too!
Amazing fish and chips and awesome service. We decided to compare both Barbs Fish and chips and the Fish Store's fish and chips. The fish store hands down was the best selection. The fish is crispier, the fries are better and the coleslaw was probably the best I have had. We will be back.
Locals know you go to The Fish Store and not the touristy spot on the wharf. Always delicious ????
Oysters and mussels are very fresh and delicious.
Good local selection and really enjoyed the salmon and scallops! I also purchased local spot prawns but noticed they were all egg-bearing female prawns (It's my understanding that this is illegal?)
Tasty fish, good chips, and a relaxed yet hopping atmosphere. A spot to return to time and time again
Very fresh products. Great customer service. A little pricy however it's worth it!
It is a great, comfortable and small restaurant in the middle of the Fish wharf. An amazing place to see and have a lunch. I ordered a Tuna poke, the daily special, sided with kimchi and sea weed. It was spicy and delicious. the portion was a bit small for the price.
Fresh, high quality seafood!
First time since they started serving beer, nice area they have created
At fishermans wharf. They serve gluten free fish sticks that are hand made.
Expensive but fish was fresh and halibut soup was fantastic
Gluten free fish and chips!!!! And they were amazing! Need I say more?
Didn't tell me how long the order was going to take. Were pretty rude about it and didn't seem to care. Taco wasn't anything special.
The best fish and chips on the wharf. Barely any lineup and much better quality then barbs. 10/10 would reccomend
Amazing service and food! It's our first time in tofino and we will definitely be back to eat at this place! We ordered the oysters, salmon tartare and smoked seafood platter and all were delicious and filling! You definitely get quality for the price here. Aside from that you also can get your smoked favorites either frozen or fresh to take with you home or on the road!
Good location at the Fisherman's Wharf, Victoria, BC
We got the 3 way salmon chowder and West coast combo (cod and salmon fillet). The tartar sauce was outstanding the batter flakey and crispy. Needed some salt though. Also, be aware that if Barb's fish and chips beside this shop is closed, it will be long lines no matter what day you go.
We ordered 2-piece oyster tacos - fried oysters inside tasted amazing but the tacos were so tiny, it’s literally just 4 piece of oysters plus very little sliced cabbage, just like what’s shown on the pic. Salmon chowder - tastes great! We also tried half dozen oyster - highly recommend. Very fresh.
Good selection of fresh and frozen. Delicious and reasonably priced smoked fish. My kid begs for the hot smoked salmon belly when we drive by. Staff are friendly and pretty knowledge of the products. The clams are real good
Amazing oysters
Great food, great frys. We love the fried oysters and cod.
Beyond Delicious, best meal I've had in forever. Emerald Cove Oysters were some of if not the best oysters I've ever had. Friendly Staff and wonderful food right by the water. What more can you ask for?
best fish and chips in Victoria I have ever had. try Halibut for sure!
Glad I decided to come here for a quick bite to eat on my visit to Victoria. My friend & I shared the two piece cod with fries & two cups of clam chowder. It was a little pricey but delicious & just enough. We were pleased with our meal. Definitely recommend to tourists.
Amazing gluten free fish and chips! You'd never know it was GF. We've eaten there several times and always top notch! Yum!
Good selection of fresh fish and seafood. Expensive
Mussels were not fresh, tasted horrible, the staff and chef didn’t admit it and didn’t do anything about it, worst experience in Canada over the past 3 months, will never go back to this shop and won’t recommend to anyone.
Tourist prices but unbeatable location and usually very good food.
Fresh oysters were really delicious.
Excellent fresh seafood. Buck a shuck clayoquot climax oysters 12-2 and 2-4. Spicy humboldt squid was amazing. Really good seafood chowder with a light creamy base.
What a gorgeous place to have the best fish and chips in the world. Amazing cod but wait an unbelievable salmon. Both pieces with a light batter deep fried to a crisp golden brown. Under that crust is the most delicious moist pieces of fish you will ever have. The tartar sauce and accompanying coleslaw made for a perfect combination. Least but not last the chips very nice. Overall including the seating area this place is unbeatable.
Fish was delicious!
Best smoked salmon!
Did not have a lot of options but the shrimp were good.
We stopped by here to have our lunch. They have amazingly tasty fish and chips. We ended up making second order "to go" - to take it with us to hotel for dinner. My favorite was halibut. Everything is extremely freshly made.
Delicious products but quite expensive.
Favourite seafood restaurant
Way too expensive for this amount of food... Cost me $22. Tiny tiny oysters.
Loved cod fish and chips! Fish tacos and three way salmon chowder was amazing as well. Decent price for the location. Will be back!
Very tasty and fresh
Service
I really love the fresh mussels and oysters, but no live fish!
Best halibut tacos you'll ever have!
I had such a wonderful experience and service. Young Stewart was very kind and helpful. His knowledge was exceptional and his Irish charm made my experience very special. I am definitely going to come back. See you soon!
Very fresh and tasty fish and chips and oysters.
Great setting for this place, good range of very fresh and local seafood cooked to order. Can get pretty busy, which means longer wait times. We had to wait 30 minutes for our fried oysters but they were worth it - cooked perfectly and juicy, tasted so fresh.
Best fish and chips and oysters on the wharf! Highly recommend going during buck a shuck (4-5pm everyday). Both are always super fresh, and you can now order a beer to drink in the designated area with your meal!
I wanted to order sturgeon and they were out pre-dinner rush. I pivoted your oysters but they were out of horseradish. The girl got a little snippy that it’s been busy. Horseradish though? That’s just bad planning. THEN, I asked for a Prosecco and they were out of that too! When I asked for a discount- simply just the cider for the Prosecco price, the girl got super snippy. I would recommend VISITING Fisherman’s wharf but definitely not eating at The Fish Store.
Incredible!!!!!
4 of us had 8 of their dollar oysters and they were great, we also shared a Halibut and a Salmon sandwich, with a beer and it was a great time! Would recommend for sure, also prices were very reasonable for being in such a busy tourist spot (although I was paying in USD)
Best fish and chips shop in Victoria.
Really great food and good beer! Pleasent view
Overpriced for the quality of food that you get. The tacos salsa tasted like Tostitos salsa. The fish tasted great but the add-ons that come with it didn’t. The fish portion was inconsistent for every taco. Some big and others small. Spent a lot for what I got..
Great variety of fresh seafood, also the most moist smoked fish you've ever had!! They smoke their own. Right next door. Small takeaway items and art as well as mortar and pestles local, made with local marble. Not just a fish store. Check the pictures out and come on in. Friendly and helpful!
(Translated) Fresh product and the staff is very nice! (Original) Produit frais et le personnel est très gentils !
Food is great, but a bit expensive. They close early now in the fall and they seemed to try to chase me away. They were more concerned about closing than anything
(Translated) Not really. Do not go. I eat halibut, which is expensive and low in quantity, but the potatoes are at the McDonald's level. Still, it's better than the Redfish Bluefish at Inner Harbor. Redfish Bluefish really don't go.
Great selection of fish and seafood. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.
Fresh,fresh salmon chowder.
Good fish & chips with gluten free options.
Terrific fresh seafood shack. Nice attention to detail as opposed to the usual seaside fry up.
Halibut fishwich was great!
Buck a shuck is a must . Very fresh. Friendly service made your visit pleasant. Avoid long line ups by going early. Their buck a shuck happy hour is from 4 to 5pm everyday.
Best seafood chowder of my life - go there on a rainy day - perfect on a rainy day in Tofino
Fresh seafood and lots of tables to sit at Fisherman’s Wharf! Oysters are delicious!
Very impressed with the fresh food, quick service, and unique location! A must-see in Victoria!
In addition to the fresh fish, which I have never bought, this place serves fish and chips and other seafood dishes that are generally excellent. I just had a salmon chowder that was the equal of anything I've had. Fish is fresh and perfectly cooked. My favorite place on the waterfront
Looked all over Tofino for fresh crab and finaly found some at The Fish Store. We cooked 2 crabs and they were great.
Celiac aware. Gluten free OPTIONS!!!!!
best in victoria
(Translated) Super good (Original) Super bon
Awesome chowder. Perfect snack to walk with since seating nearby is limited. Buck-a-shuck oysters harvest dependent
Stopped at the wharf for a quick pint and some Fish and Chips. Fantastic. Wife got the one piece pacific cod, and I had one piece of the BC Halibut. The flavor was incredible, the home made tartar sauce was wicked, and the beer was delicious too. We enjoyed the view, and the delicate rock of the floating bar. So glad we stopped here.
Worst fish and chips I've ever had!
A little pricey but fresh and delicious. Fast friendly service.
It was amazing
The fish and chips were fantastic, the chowder a bit too thick and the mussels delicious too, we just wished they was served with more bread to enjoy with the broth. There was a long line but loved fairly fast
Wow! When you arrive at the fisherman’s wharf in Victoria, make sure to stroll over to The Fish Store and order the very delicious and hearty BC Halibut fish and chips !!! Each piece is very think so a 1 piece can fill you up if you’re not that hungry. I’m a big guy and quite hungry today so the 2 piece with fries was very filling. The BC Halibut is fresh & tender. Loved every bite of it!
Our family went there this evening for halibut and chips and was not disappointed. The batter was light and crispy and the fish was moist and delicious. Fries, slaw, and tartar were all excellent as well. Can’t wait to return!
Red Fish Blue Fish was closed until end of Feb so thought I would give this place a try. Fast service, reasonable prices, food was just ok. Clam chowder not in the same league. Cannot wait until Red Fish Blue Fish re-opens, even if you have to wait an hour in line it is well worth it.
Best fish and chips in Fishermans Wharf
My fav place to get fresh, local seafood
Wanted to try something different than Barbs. Was underwhelmed. Long wait but didn’t seem overly busy. Had halibut and chips. Halibut good. Chips scant and over cooked.
Love that they have gf fish & chips! Always a favourite when I'm in Victoria.
Soooo good!!!
Took 40 mins from ordering to get our food.
Halibut was fine, but greasy and a small portion for the price. The soups we tried were bland. The oysters tasted pretty good but were horrendously overpriced. I won't return.
First time having steamed whole scallops on the shell. Fantastic. Oysters, crab, clams, and battered halibut were great. Best place to get simple and fresh seafood in town.
