This is a good place. Nice selection of fish and supplies. Prices are reasonable and the employees are very friendly. The only thing I didn't like was that they had a large eel in a tank that I think is too small.

Really really good store, ask them a thousand question and they answered them all with complaining. a really people family frendly. they don't force corals or fish on you like other store but makes sure that the fish will be okay in your tank and really good quality and selection.

So I have had mixed experiences. The guy is pretty good and get a nice feeling from him. The store sells everything you could ever want for your aquarium. Some of the tanks are beautiful. In the back you'll find the tanks of fish. The stock is pretty hit and miss. Sometimes I want to buy everything other times I walk out with nothing. So why the one star? Around 2ish months ago I was in the shop and bought a coral platie. This was my second mistake the first was to forget my glasses. I kind of relied on the women to pick which fish. I don't have a quarantine tank so I really have to rely on the honesty of the shop owner. At Fish Addicts he writes on his tanks not for sale if there's a problem with the fish's health. Not at Paul's. They pretty much sold me a rotting set of eyes and scales. I have fought with everything possible to save my fish. I have one platie left from a healthy stock of livebearers. Yes people will say I should of done things differently but that's not always possible. I feel really bad writing this but that's how it is. Paul's once I would only buy from you now I doubt I'll ever buy a tropical fish again.

You will be hard pressed to find better fish and aquarium experts unless you pay for a visit to your local aquarium (and with the truly amazing selection of fish in this store, every visit IS like a tour of an aquarium). The good people running Pauls have forgotten more about aquariums than I will ever know (read that twice, it was a compliment). But like any expert I recommend follow up questions. If you ask a question you may get a short answer that makes perfect sense to them, but you require some clarification. Trust me they will not treat you like a dummy for not knowing things. Also, Great selection Inexplicably good prices! They sell used gear which is always nice.

The day we were there was a Friday. It was not busy and the selection of fish was pretty limited. They didn't seem to have much to choose from, and the few fish they did have were not too exciting. There were a couple of tanks on sale, and the people in the store were very nice, and had no pronlems answering any questions i had. In front you're greeted by a nice tank. Parking for Pauls is ample, with a good sized lot. It has Handicap parking & the store is handicap friendly. However, don't use Google maps to get you there. It took us the longest way around, over railway tracks, and round about..

I used to visit Paul's when they were on Kingsway in Vancouver probably 20 years ago? Family run, welcoming feel, nothing has changed. Just an easygoing aquarium shop. They have both Fresh and saltwater livestock and supplies. They have quite a variety of livestock and dry goods. Priced very well, rivaling big box stores, but infinitely more selection. Ask a question, get a straight candid answer. I like that myself. It's an older shop, but the fish really are in great condition. We've recently purchased quite a few Fancy Goldfish, and they've been in great health. The pea puffers we bought there have been the hardiest of our shoal, despite being the smallest. As you can tell, I like coming here. They're always warm and friendly with my family, and I appreciate that very much. It's further for me now, but happy to make the trip!

Really nice atmosphere. Decent selection of fish. There was a wide range of basics, such as guppies, mollies, platys, corydoras, etc. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful when asking questions and looking at fish. Prices were pretty comparable to your basic petsmart, but I have a feeling the fish might be healthier, just a feeling based on the quality of the foods they sell (more real ingredients and less fillers). The fish I bought there are happy and healthy, so so far so good.

Paul and his wife gave me such good advice many years ago when I was new to fish keeping. And helped me start in this hobby. I was able to keep a full reef tank, salt predator tanks, cichlid tanks and still keep many of them. It can be overwhelming in the beginning but they took the time to give me great guidance and gave me great pricing on new tanks and fish. They are really wonderful people to deal with and although the store is not huge they have a nice choice of fish and are willing to work with the customers to give them a nice home for their fish.

Paul and his wife are extremely knowledgeable on all different kinds of fish and so is the red headed young man & his friend that works there. I have always gotten the proper answers to my questions and they will take time to explain something to you if you don’t understand.

I do like this fish store and I think the staff are nice although a lot of the fish I get from here die pretty quick. I always put them in a cycled tank and acclimate them and put them with fish they get along with but for some reason they never last for more than a couple weeks.

I like this store because of their variety of fish, but I wouldn't recommend it. Every time I've visited the employees aren't friendly to me at all. I never get greeted or asked if I need help, my beginner fish questions were answered with snarky responses, and I just feel an overall bad vibe when I walk in. There's times I want to buy a fish but left because I couldn't find an approachable employee to help. Also, they provide no warranty on their fish. They claim it's because they don't inflate their prices, but I've been better prices elsewhere that do include at least a couple days warranty.

2 reasons for this review: 1- Bought a hang on back protein skimmer for $175. The skimmer is missing o-rings and leaked everywhere onto our hardwood floor causing tons of damage. Called the store and they told me to call the company that makes the skimmer. They took no ownership for selling my a defective product. The skimmer company has not called me back after leaving messages for two weeks. $175 wasted. 2- I went in looking for a reef safe starfish, spoke to Deb. She told me the chocolate chip starfish was reef safe. It ate my corals the same day. Called Deb and she was ever so kind to offer to take the starfish back without no exchange or refund. I trusted her when she said it was reef safe, seems she was more interested in making the sale. I have spent thousands at this store and will never be returning. Thought you should all know about what kind of service to expect!

WE LOVE PAUL'S AQUARIUM!! So much so that we drive from Langley to Surrey just to see them as much as we are there to buy things for our aquarium. Deb always greets us with a very warm welcome, and asks us how our new fish are doing (she always remembers everything about our tank, even though she has many customers). The reason we trust them is because they will always advise us if something will not do well in our tank (no matter how much we want it). We recommend them to everyone we can! I was VERY surprised to read some of the reviews for them, as i can not imagine them treating anyone poorly in any way! I can only guess it is the customer who has the problem and not the store. Not to mention that their prices are lower than most other stores! What i can tell you for sure, is that we have been to dozens of stores between Chilliwack and Vancouver, and yet Paul's is who we go to for everything. Give them the chance!

I went to Paul's to get my water tested because I was constantly having problems with my nitrate. Following the instructions from another busness, I was removing and replacing the water every couple of days to no avail. I'd get it fixed, buy new fish to replace the dead ones (from the same business) and then the nitrate would go high, my fish would die and I would redo the instructions I had been told. I was told very clearly at Paul's that my problem was that there was no "bacteria" in my tank and I was harming my fish by replacing the water all the time. I bought a $10.00 bottle of Stability and already my fish seem happier! I have a $100.00 gift card for there and once my nitrate is stable, I shall be shopping. Paul's Aquarium has been around for a long time and I don't continuously see new staff when I go in. The staff is friendly, actually knowledgeable about the business and more than happy to take the time to help you. In 5 minutes I received more information than anywhere else. I would suggest checking them out.

I am in shock. I was about to go into this store today and overheard the staff and owner screaming at two customers from outside the store. I work in customer service and never in all my years have I heard staff scream at customers like this. I considered calling the police as I thought the staff was going to assault them. They were screaming and swearing, stepping towards the the customers aggressively over a "bad review" left online. The staff should be embarrassed and ashamed of their childish behaviour and lack of professionalism. As a restaurant manager I have received many complaints. You do not attack customers for giving feedback. You offer sincere apologies, help, take the feedback and learn from it to improve your store. You don't throw a tantrum like a 2 year old child.I even waited outside to speak to the customers and make sure they were ok. They were so very nice and polite and just as shocked as I. I would never even think of stepping into this store after witnessing what happened today. Especially with my one and a half year old child who demonstrates more maturity than the staff.

Terrible experience. Told the lady I was new at keeping fish. Went to buy a discus fish. Saw they had white dots on them. I asked if they where sick and she said they where fine. Bought one and 2 days later my all my fish had white spots. Turned out it was ich. Just read the other bad reviews and you'll see this isn't the first time this has happened.

I love this store. These guys have been around forever for a reason: they know what they are doing. This is truly an old time family run and owned operation. Nothing beats that! was very disappointed today would have been my first time going here and i drove from coquitlam to here today to see a note on the door saying the are closed for days. I didnt see any notice on the website about this and spent hours in traffic to get there and to see its closed. really not interested at going back. Luckily i did a quick google search of other pet stores in surrey and" rogers aquatics" showed up and they were open. I will go to rogers and fish addicts but i won't waste my time here after wasting enough time and gas today. Not impressed
