Fresh fish. Great staff. Wonderful selection.
The best fish monger in Victoria
Stopped by for a quick bite while biking by. The food truck is nicely situated and had seating by the street. I had the salmon sandwich on a bun. It was good but small. I should have added some chips or something. Missing something to round it out. Missing salt. Pickle and onion added some crunch. Didn’t like seeing the cooks working on the food they are preparing all maskless. This is not the norm in places I’ve been lately. Maybe due to heat but I expect this at a minimum. Tourist level pricing for the portion size but given the location that is to be expected. Having free water jug and paper cups is nice but some just walking by we’re helping themselves and too much cross contamination for my comfort level.

Fresh fish tacos and lots of outdoor seating. Panko oysters are for true oyster lovers. Giant 2 piece halibut and chips and freshest halibut.
Good quality fish and crabs. Oysters didn't taste too good. Everything is quite pricy. You can get better prices in Sooke
Great seafood choices
Good Fish and Chips and other stuff. Good alternative to Fisherman's Wharf food stands. Across the Park!
Always come here for fish and chips and never disappoints. Also love the oyster po boy or shrimp sandwich. My issue is they don’t give you enough tartar sauce even when you order more pieces of fish they make you pay.
Love the seafood freshness. My favorite is panko oyster, halibut tacos and burger! And enjoying the casual environment on a patio experience! Always love to come back ????
Delicious and fresh oysters from BC, my only trusted source as we shuck'm, sprinkle lemon and eat'm raw. Also my only source of sashimi grade salmon. Many other selections but the above are my go-to. Bonus super friendly staff.
Wanna try different things on the menu but always got the octopus tacos. Other fish tacos are also excellent. Tried Oyster burger today and didn’t regret it. Best oyster burger I have ever had. Everything here is so fresh and delicious
Wow. Get there quick, they sell out fast.
Best fish and chips in Victoria! Large portions and I particularly enjoy their halibut. Delicious for a picnic.
Super friendly, knowledgeable and great product.
The nicest people and amazing smoked fish. Highly recommended. Bring your own bagles and creme cheese for an amazing snack. There is a park across the street with a small playground for kids.
Great seafoods served in a country like setting.
The seafood chowder was definitely the best one I ever had in my life! And they octopus tacos were phenomenal too! Would recommend to try this place out!
Sustainable seafood right of the boat. Great product.
Fries oyster burger tasted a little funky, overall a little pricey but food was enjoyable
Fresh stock and very friendly staff. Made my purchases easy. Even cleaned my crab !
A great place we found while randomly driving around on vacation. The serving sizes are appropriate for their price.
Best place for fresh fish downtown
Awesome food at decent prices. Served pretty quickly as well.
A great place to get seafood, the food is good and the fresh local fish is amazing. I have tried seafood from other places as well, and you could tell the quality from how good the fish taste. I shy away from giving a five star because one thing i found was lack of variety. But it’s local seafood and hence not so much a valid point.
This is a seafood authority when it comes to every stage of delivery of seafood to your plate. Starting with the hardest working crew on the west coast and the way those highly trained commercial fishermen handle product the second its on board, the way that they suspend the product in time if you will so that when the boat is being offloaded their catch is sounding more like change being doped into a basket (ting ting ring ting...NOT thud sloppy thud)a short haul in a newer rig with top of the line reefer to their yard in James bay where there team of knowledgeable staff are already waiting for their anticipated load of "the finest at sea" T.B.C. Dan Carlos II
Best fresh seafood on the west coast period. Amazing knowledgable staff and customer service.
Fantastic fresh BC halibut and great fries, we will be back for sure!
Small fries $3:15. Fries ok but few condiments, No malt vinegar peculiar for a fish and chip place. No Mayo for the fries, just the usual tomato ketchup salt and pepper.
Tacos are the best in Victoria ????
Great locally sourced fish and seafood!
Great variety, fresh and the fish and chips are awesome
So good. Is both deli and little cafe counter. The fish is so fresh. Comes with a TON of fries - would consider buying a 2-piece fish+chips with another person since you'd still have lots to eat!
I’m disappointed I couldn’t even pass through the front door. the man ran and locked the door as soon as he saw me parking in front of the store. Although it was after 5pm, I just wanted to see if the fish I wanted would be available for next day. Unfortunately he didn’t give me the opportunity to talk to him so I would return later. Never mind!
Best seafood in Victoria, no question.
Helpful, knowledgeable staff. Also, great quality - the sablefish candy is outta-this-world good!
I had my very first Cod fish burger and was hooked after the first bite!! This is a must if you wish to have any seafood fresh from the sea as a meal. I love this place and would suggest anybody to try it out for themselves.
The smoked oysters, cold smoked tuna, & tartar sauce draw me all the way from Metchosin. I make excuses not to go downtown for the most part, so...
Yum!
Such great fresh fish and prepared food options including salads and the fish and chips out front. So delicious!
Nice and crispy fish batter and fries!
Really fresh, good takeout seafood. Halibut, salmon, cod, oyster burgers and tacos. Fish and chips.
Food here was fresh and delicious, curried halibut and eggplant wrap was the bomb. Prices weren't too bad either, just dont go around 11:30-12:00 gets really busy due to the highschool nearby.
Best fish & chips in town
Had fresh seafood, great place for shopping!
D-licious
We ordered the lingcod and yam frites, West coast clam chowder, and 1 pound mussels and frites. 1 pound mussels and yam frites is worth the buy. Everything else was ok.
Wonderful Halibut and chips!
Halibut was outstanding. Grampa loved the BC Kettle fries and I loved the tarter sauce. Large portions. Would like a bit more flavour in yh coleslaw. We will be back!!!
OMG I love this place... The coleslaw is so yummy...I all is totally scrumptious!!
Best sustainable fish store in Victoria. It’s a James Bay local so we walk by regularly and start dreaming of fish burgers & fish & chips. We love both the store & the food truck.
Really great experience here! We had fried oysters and the halibut burger.. Fresh, perfectly cooked food. Well worth waiting for. We also picked up some fresh halibut to take home and it was absolutely perfect. Love seeing what vessel it was caught on, by what method, and whereabouts. Will definitely be back!
So delicious. Best fresh fish tacos in town.
Awesome spot for local seafood and other culinary products, premium pricing though. You can find spot prawns, stripe prawns, halibut, and all other kinds of fish here. They also have fresh bread, as well as herbs, spices, oils and lemons for your seafood. I really like this place, but it's pretty expensive.
Got the Fish N Chips here, quick service, hot and crunchy.
Best fresh fish on the southern island! They also have a food truck that serves amazing fish and chips! I get all my fish from here. Not only do they have the best fish, they also tell you where it was caught, and the vessel name.
So delicious. Best fresh fish tacos in town.
The best Cod n chips and Cod burgers ever!
excellent (hooked) seafood, check for smoked tuna, tuna poke salad, salmon, candy smoked cod, salmon roll, enter shop from yard - best fish I had since long term
There tuna and halibut tacos are insane such fresh seafood great slaw. Highly recommend
A great local seafood harvesting operator who do local retail sales. These are the people who own the Ocean Pearl, a big sablefish and tuuna boat.
Great halibut fish and chips!! The fish was super fresh and tasty, not greasy at all. I didn't feel heavy, or had stomach problems after, like it happens to me sometimes after deep fried fish. And the tartare sauce was delicious, one of the best! Great place with cute outdoors seating but we would have appreciated a warm place to stay because it was really cold to lunch outside
Tasty fish and chips. Get there early for the chowder.
Always great food!!
I heard this was the best place to get salmon in Victoria from a local chef so i made the trek and it was for sure worth it. Clam chowder has always been one of my favorite foods, and their new england clam chowder may be the best ive had. Jam packed with seafood, and generous chunks of salmon. The tacos were fantastic as well. A lovely portion of salmon alongside crunchy veggies and coleslaw. Great visit, will be back.
So I caught a salmon and my guide told me to get it cleaned here for travel back to the states. They were done by the time I caught the ferry the next morning and were able to add a few extra items I bought. Didn't get to try the cooked food but they did a great job informing me of how to get it packed and what the best way to handle it was.
Finest at sea has a really great food truck out front. Also they sell fresh local seafood of all kinds.
Good food good portion good price. Thank you.
Best fresh seafood selection in town
Great value and very fresh!
Fantastic place to buy local, fresh, sustainable seafood. Prices where fairly in line with other fishmongers around Victoria. This was the only place I was able to locate live Spot Prawns early in the season. Will definitely try their cooked food next time I am there.
I would recommend their cold-smoked fish versus their hot-smoked fish. It's a lot softer in texture, and melts in your mouth.
A great selection of fresh and frozen seafood. Their staff are knowledgeable and patient. The space, while nicely maintained, is small and a little awkward even with the current 2 patron limit (COVID measure).
Great seafood store. The staff are friendly and knowable. They always let you know what is fresh and what was frozen. Great selection.
Very informative and reasonble prices
This is a beautiful Halibut burger. I can barely type when I think about it. They have amazing fish and chips just north across the tiny park from Fisherman's Wharf! They will prepare fish for a plane voyage! They cold smoke tuna. Food Truck out front; Friendly fish store and smoker in the back.
Fries were good but overdone.
Great fish store bit pricey
Always good and fresh! The fish and chips are fabulous and they make the best fish chowder in the city!
Always good and fresh! The fish and chips are fabulous and they make the best fish chowder in the city!
If you love fish, go here. If you don't like fish, go here anyway. At least you'll know what good fish tastes like
Excellent fresh fish and seafood and there is a park across the street to enjoy it in ????. Can get busy at times but well worth the wait.
Incredible fried halibut! So fresh.
Great prices. The prawns and smoked salmon are wonderful.
Fresh fish, deli and takeout fish and chips. The best seafood source in Victoria
Very good fish and chips and fish tacos.
Expensive and high quality fish store
Ordered from here on SkipTheDishes. The fish tacos were amazing, especially the cod ones.
Nice selection
Best fish market in Victoria.
They have a great variety of salmon, tuna and other seafood products all locally caught and smoked. We tried the candied tuna and sablefish and they were delicious!
The service was quick and good, the taste of the food tbh I didnt feel any difference from other fish and chips places. The wait is long (20mins+-) even on a tuesday afternoon. Id say only try if you are a huge fan of fish and chips.
Great seafood store! We are lucky to have it!
We stumbled across this gem when walking our dog and what a fabulous find. They have a dog friendly patio but we opted to borrow one of their picnic blankets and popped across the road to the park. I had the chowder and hubby had lingcod and chips both were v yummy and just what we needed after ferrying from Vancouver. Highly recommend this neighborhood gem.
Crappie fish and chips never go back
Great, locally sourced, fish store. They also have a take out window and out door tables. Their fish tacos are amazing!
Kennebec fries
The ambiance was welcoming and the seafood fresh.
Such tasty fish! And they have the best chowder around.
Much prefer the food here across from the park to Barb's down on the wharf. Staff are super friendly too.
Afternoon fish and chips snack. Was absolutely delicious and sweet (fresh as I could hope for)
Great halibut fish & chips. Super fresh, breaded and fried to perfection!
Love their shop in the back. The salmon pies and salmon cakes are a must!!
Delicious Fish n Chips.
Great!
Excellent selection of fresh seafood.
Fresh seafood.
Service was mediocre, batter for the halibut was the worst/most over cooked I've ever had in 24 years. Rarely do I throw away food but I could only handle a couple of bites before calling it quits! Disappointed because the ratings are good. Must just be the owner making up fake reviews.
Best fish in Victoria bar NONE!
Great fish and chips food truck, beside Fisherman's Wharf Park for pleasant outdoor dining.
Good place to stop by and try out the food. Fish and chips are always made very crispy
"hidden" fish and chips. Great fresh and live seafood. Don't know why that's hard to find in grocery stores in Victoria when we live by the ocean. Anyway if you're craving for live seafood, it's the only place in town. Or go to oak bay
Wonderfully staff and good selection of fresh seafood products.
Friendly service. Quality fresh ingredients and local seafood. Reasonable prices. What's not to love?
Fresh and great selection, a must shop if you enjoy quality seafood. The food truck out front makes a delicious oyster taco to.
Fish is great. A bit pricy for outdoor fast food, but the portions are big so you can share for two
Its behind you ftom this pick. Turn around and walk over the park and across the street. Fish shop is best with awesome homemade seafood deli and awesome food cart. Try the home smoked Oysters, Salmon and much more.
Lacks Cleanliness
We came here for the first time last week for takeout. Half of us had the one piece halibut and chips and the rest had the lingcod. The fish was moist and the batter was tasty, crispy and just the perfect thickness to enhance the flavour of the fish. Prices were very reasonable, staff were friendly and efficient - we would definitely eat here again. Highly recommend!
FRESH Victoria’s best. I have bought here for six years and love this place. Local people catching and selling local fish. Smiles free fish not cheap but each peice labelled with caught by and when.

Loves it...and I grew up in Newfoundland.
Great food! Reason for one less star is only because they didn't sell beer.
Great seafood. But rude customer service today by a guy who wears glasses with dark hair. Felt like he was doing favor and just seems to hate his job overall. By reading the previous reviews it seems I am not the only one that thinks this way. Disappointing.
The place is so nostalgic as a former PW student, where everyone would get the 4 dollar box of fries. The crunch factor is amazing, and the fish is very fresh. The tartar sauce is also pretty good, not the best place I have ever been to however the convenience factor and value is very decent.
Excellent product and friendly knowledgeable staff...recently completed renovations this place is a must for shopping locally and sustainable seafood.
My favourite place for fish tacos. Have yet to find a better place for that in Victoria.
Best fresh seafood in Victoria. [Edit May 2018:] I've been buying fresh fish here for quite a while but I finally decided to try their Fish & Chips. We ordered Halibut and Lingcod. Both were excellent. Batter was light and crispy. Fries were good. I would have liked the coleslaw to be a bit more saucy with more of a vinegar zing but that's personal taste. Portions were good. I had two pieces and that was plenty.
Just look at the texture of the meat.... Perfection done by experts.... that have passion for their craft
Great fish and chips ???? This is my second time here. Really like this place. The fish tastes wonderful, and the side dish is also delicious, even better than some restaurants. The place is just beside fisherman's park, so you can have a walk in the neighborhood.
Very rude worker. Under cooked fish batter. Very unprofessional.
My favourite fish shop in town by a long shot. Want to know the name of the boat where your wild caught salmon is from? You got it. Seasonal specialties like spot prawns? Done. Friendly and helpful staff? Check. This place rules and it's kind of surprising because it's next to Fisherman's wharf... Typically tourist areas only have garbage for Americans passing through on their cruise to Alaska, but finest at sea is top notch.
Enjoyed their salmon burger a lot.
Delicious fish.
Great selection of seafood. We picked up 5 dozen oysters and when we started cleaning them noticed more than a dozen had already opened. Brought them back and they immediately replaced them. The second batch was perfect.
I have a soft spot for fresh seafood.
Best place in town for fresh fish or shellfish! Friendly knowledgeable staff, with helpful recipe ideas! Plus if you happen to be hungry they have a food truck out front with great menu options.
Great selection of seafood. Got 4 fresh crabs, cleaned, for $60. They were missing a couple of times, but tasted great!
Great halibut fish and chips. The fries were also really good as was the tartar sauce that came with it. It was a great choice for take out!
Expensive for what you get, nothing special on the greasy side too much oil used.
Great spot we found out of the blue. Food is good and the drink cold. Not too pricy. Recommend you stop by.
This is a great place for fish&chips. I really appreciate the service and the quality or the ingredients.
Best fish & chip truck in Vic, IMHO.
Good market with more than just seafood
Fish and chips are the best ever and I can't walk out without buying something else as well ...so good!!
I find the seafood at this place to be the best in this area. You can see the product is fresh and the staff is always helpful. I highly recommend the sablefish!
They have great fish&chips over there. Gotta try it out if u r a fan of seafood
Great pop up fish and chips trailer out front. Loved the chowder. All sorts of sea creatures for purchase in the rear shop.
Fish & chips were overcooked. Yet the portion was great.
Love the seafood! Some of the staff need to work on their people skills though. The gentleman there was fantastic though and super friendly!
Awesome fish and chips. The halibut is my favorite but come early if you don't want to wait
The halibut fish and chips were amazing. Chips were meh, but the halibut was delicious. Better quality than at a restaurant. Would definitely recommend!
Great fresh fish, halibut on this occasion.
Amazing place!! It might go unseen if you just focus on the Fisherman's wharf... But be sure to check it out. Is the best place for seafood around
Great fish and chips, not too much batter, lots of fish. Safe distance outdoor seating
Amazing seafood selection, looking forward to my halibut! Only complaint is the small parking lot; if possible, park along the street if you can! Getting out is a bit tricky!
$12.60 for a piece of halibut (at the food truck). $6.°° each additional piece. ☺ Got to love it.
My new favourite place to pick up fish. The selection of fresh fish is amazing and we love to stock the freezer with an array of frozen.
Great place for everything you need to make a awesome seafood meal. I was happy to get all the fixings for a nutritious dinner for my wife and I. She loved it!
Going down the Swaney river since new owners took over. Terribly overpriced on everything.
Fine team, great fresh and sustainable products.
Always top quality, however prices can be a bit steep. Their food cart serves the best fish and chips.
Seriously awesome!! Biggest Oyster Burger I've ever seen and its $8.00!! Huge portion even for a single fish/chips. Not heavily battered or deep fried. Allows you to taste the fish. Super friendly, pretty quick service and nice little seating area beside to chill out and eat.
Delicious late night find! Mmmmmmm!
Very well done all around. Can't wait to go back. A must try if you're in the area.
Great fresh fish. A Little pricey but worth when you want the good stuff.
Great food.
Hands down best halibut & chips evah! Sweet staff to boot! 10 Stars!
These guys REALLY need to change their recipe for their Clam Chowder. We had to add TONS of salt, pepper, sauted onions and garlic, thyme, and some sausage just to make it palatable. Without that it tastes like the blandest milk soup you've ever had.
Definitely delicious fish and chips and a good price.
Best place to buy fresh fishes. Family business and very good quality ????
Proper fish and chips. Not too much batter and plenty of fresh fish.
Fish and chips not as crispy as I would have liked. Grocery items VERY pricey, and I don't usually make a fuss about cost.
While not right on Fisherman's Wharf, this spot is definitely worth crossing the street for! Just up across the field, this food truck dishes up the best fish tacos (go for the smoked tuna!) and serves awesome fish and chips, fish burgers, chowder as well as a creative daily feature. We visited again this weekend and they now have picnic blankets (clearly marked in bins for 'clean' and 'used' for sanitization) so that you can pop over to Fisherman's Wharf Park and enjoy your meal on the grass overlooking the float homes and touristy wharf area. I found the prices to be much more reasonable than similar items purchased down at Fisherman's Wharf.

Go to place for seafood in Victoria.
Well that was about the best fish and chips, fish tacos and fries oysters that we've had in a long time!
Cod burger with house made tartar sauce was great!
Best fresh fish in Victoria. Go around back. Cold smoked salmon is best I have ever had. Yum
Great fish and chips! One of the best
Well that was about the best fish and chips, fish tacos and fries oysters that we've had in a long time!
Awesome as usual, but do your own damn homework.
Very fine seafood
Great store with more than just seafood items. In a pinch, you could come in and pick up dry pasta, fresh fruits and veg , and of course seafood. I normally come here in the summer for salmon and when the time is right spot prawns and they don't disappoint. A lot of traffic (as you can see from the other posts) are mostly commenting on fish and chips and their other cooked food. Again, it's just a portion of what they do. The fish and chips are solid and the batter is not too thick. Got takeout and ate it 20 minutes later and was still crispy. Recommend calling the order in , especially if it's getting close to lunch time as there is a high school close by and it can get crowded. People talk about the fries and they are good. For value and quantity, it definitely hits the spot. Also tried the curries eggplant halibut wrap. It was good. Maybe a bit mild for my tastes but for those wanting that light curry flavour with their fish, this would work for you. Parking in the complex , with the highschool crowd etc...can be a bit of a slog depending on the time. Though I find the best and easiest place to park is on the street.
Nice local place for fish - and you can get fish and chips there too!
Delicious and local! Beautiful tables outside and a whole spread for hot sauce choices! I wish I was there earlier to check out the fish market just behind. Another time!
One of the best fish and chips and chowder!! Lots of seafood in the chowder and the fish is large!
These people know how to cook fish so it's not dry and tasteless. Great fish tacos, soup, and seasonal salad. Highly recommended!!
Fish and chips are delicious
We had grilled sock-eye salmon and chips and it was so much better than any I've had in other seaside eateries or posh restaurants in Victoria. Lots of outdoor tables and if you can't get a table you can borrow a picnic blanket and sit in the park across the road. View is quite pleasant- not a full ocean vista, but you can see the Johnson street bridge.
High end seafood and prepared appetizers. I wished I tried the fish and chips. it all looks great.
Good products and helpful staff. Small sales area for these days.
So many menu choices! Fantastic staff, great tasting food, sustainability mentioned at every opportunity. Great to see local businesses pairing up: #FinestAtSea #FishMarket #SodaWorks #YYJ
Best seafood store in Victoria.
Delicious soup and lovely breaded fish for lunch. Lots of fresh fish for sale.
I love this seafood shop and their little bistro, they make wonderful fish and chips.
Great tasting fish tacos but not enough fish in them
Great spot to pick up fresh fish
Best seafood store in the city. Offering a great variety of fresh fish and shellfish.
Super tasty fish and chips and tacos! Will be back to try more of the menu!
Fish and chips, halibut and intriguing coleslaw.
Anazing halibut and chips. Very Fast service. Friendly staff.
Great fish, tasty fries. No washroom though, so take out or plan ahead - so eat in is a bit tough if you have little ones.
we really don't go anywhere else to get seafood. Freshest seafood you can get without catching it yourself. Best selection in town as well as knowledgeable staff make this the best seafood shop in town. I would highly recommend anyone to shop here. As well check out the shack for food as plenty good eats here.
For really fresh seafood I often go here. Fresh of the boat literally, it's a thriving operation in James Bay. With a food cart out front you can now get lunch or dinner of great seafood.
Stopped by your shop on Sunday and honestly, I experienced the worst customer service ever.... your staff was apathetic, unknowledgeable and could care less about me spending money there or not.... Please do something about it and train your staff. **Update--- I have been in contact with them and have assured they will address these issues. I have been offered a credit in order to come back.
Just stopped in and they were incredibly helpful in explaining how to cook myself some of their amazing seafood. Fellow was very patient with me and helpful with good recommendations. Will be going regularly now. Thank you!!!
Finest At Sea has the best seafood in the world! Come one, come all! I love this place! Here's some pictures I just took today. It's Christmas time at FAS????????????????
This place has the best fish tacos I've tasted in town. I go here at least once a week when I'm working at Ogden point through the summer.
Quality of the seafood is unmatched!
Only went into the store and frankly.... It's nice but overrated. A fish store. Apparently the only one around. Which is strange. I guess that's what makes it popular. It's tiny. Does not offer a huge variety. Mostly salmon and cod. By the looks of it, the restaurant might well be worth it. It too, seems to be the only one around. Strange !
Loved the take out counter food. Hands down the best fish tacos, no repurposed fishsticks here, clearly fresh fish and cooked to order. Fish and chips was great too. Best I've had? Maybe, it's a close call with a place in Lunenburg, on the other ocean.
Yum. Best place in town for fish & chips! Tartar sauce is great!
Good selection, fresh, not bad pricing. Good seafood store on the back as well. Come early, place is so good, they run out of things by 1 pm. Favorites - fresh chowder, salmon fish and chips, deep fried or grilled oyesters.
Very fresh and tasty. Will be back.
I tried their seared smoked salmon tacos today. Sooooo good! I will definitely get them again! Get your food to take away or sit in a lovely shady area out front with flowers and bushes. Service was quick and the food was EXCELLENT!
My friend took me here as a local spot he frequents. I got the fish and chips which were hot, crunchy, and delicious. Calamari was also perfectly crunchy. Prices were a bit in the high side for a platter, but the portion sizes are certainly generous and not skimpy.
Halibut burger and small fries best in town. Tartar sauce rocks
Great options for take-out meals and in-house shopping! Finest offers a wonderful selection of salads, jarred items- both local and imported, and their specialty-- the best quality seafood in Vancouver! Bon appétit!
The best fish tacos ever!!
Great location, nice store and yummy food truck eats! Can't wait to go again!
Good quality sea food but staff can be more friendly
Best fish truck around. I always order the salmon burger; my wife prefers the fish taco, which she claims is the best anywhere. One of our favourite lunch haunts. Consistently good; and don't ignore the fresh fish products for sale in behind.
Fresh fish and nice staff
Good selection of fresh seafoods to take home, and an even better kitchen offering fish and chips.
Delicious! The chowder was unreal! Service kind. And the chowder could feed two! Its pretty good.
felt ripped off tbh spent $22.00 for two little pieces of Halibut and some fries wasn't worth it at all
Fish and chips here tasted great! The portion sizes did differ from order to order though, wasn't a huge bother to me since I have a smaller appetite but I did notice my partner had a pile of coleslaw while I had like 2 fork fulls while my sister in law got jipped on the fries and I got a mountain of those
fantastic, amazing, beautifully fresh seafood from Canada's west coast, the best
The best fish and chips in Victoria!
Amazing fish and chips, and the service was great. Bough some amazing pasta here too, went great with my favorite red wine
Nice fish and chips. Most important is They have Water for the customer to drink.
Great sea food
Best Fish & Chips
Great candied salmon and the biggest lobsters I've ever seen
Excellent service and fish
The fresh fish was grossly overpriced in my opinion ($80/kg halibut) but the seafood chowder was more reasonable and homemade from scratch with the same ingredients I would use in my own kitchen. Highly recommend the soup!!
Nice people lots of fish ????
When Bruno & Sally ran the retail side of this brilliant joint venture with Bob Fraumeni, a major-league commercial fisherman, it was unquestionably (IMHO) by far the best source of fish and value-added products Vancouver has ever known. The fish is still as great as ever, but the service has deteriorated markedly. I still go regularly, because there is just no place like it, but it saddens me to see how low it has sunk in terms of customer service. I would give it 6 starts in its former incarnation. I cannot give it 5 but I will say 3-1/2 stars.
Best employers I’ve encountered in Victoria, very grateful for this place
Great food and very friendly staff. The tacos were fantastic, the fish was really good but lacked some seasoning. They were unfortunately sold out of the chowder and the fried pickles which I really wanted to try.
Amazing fresh fish and chips. Tempted to go right back and try the seafood chowder!
Very ethical folks, delicious food
The Seafood Chowder is quite tasty but stay away from it if you are on a sodium restrictive diet. Too salty for my liking. Sorry.
Wow, excellent fish and chips! We have tried just about every fish and chips place in the city and this is our new favorite. We had the halibut yesterday, big portion, lots of fries. The one piece was more than enough food. We also ordered the deep fried pickle, this is almost another meal by itself (you get several strips of pickle in the serving with tartar sauce), very tasty.
The freshest seafood in town! Always great!
Stop by for groceries and have a snack break - amazing stews!
Good fish, though their tacos were a little over stuffed and sauced, distracting from how good the fish is.
Go to for raw oysters!
They have the best marinated olives in the world!!!
Really great food and fresh halibut
Best fish burgers and tacos we ever had. It was so delicious that we had to return again today. Good portions and prices. Very recommended!!
(Translated) See good! (Original) Ver good!
A nice experience. Delicious burgers and blankets to turn lunch into a picnic.
Great fish & chips. Wonderful selection of fresh fish, shellfish, salads, breads and veggies!
Fantastic fish & chips! Reasonable prices, friendly staff. Hands down the best fries in Victoria!
Great quality at a good price. Always stop in for sashimi grade salmon. Great place for all kinds of seafood.
They're a good guilty pleasure to have.
These guys make some amazing fish and chips! But I don’t recommend getting the soup. It’s really not what you expect considering how awesome everything else is.
Top of the line seafood and sides. Great service. Expect to pay for it.
Absolute best tuna tacos and fries EVEr!
Great selection of local sea food - tried the smoked oysters they are great!
Tasty fish & chips
wonderful place for fresh fish ,and great soups . Many salads to take out ,a great helper on my busy days.
Finest At Sea is one of the best 'chippies' in Victoria. With a plentiful supply of fish and chip shops, being one of the best is no easy accolade. The menu is limited but all of it is tasty. The halibut is always great, and the chips always hot. There can be a line up at busy times, but that's testament to just how good the food is, so it's always worth the wait. There's also a fresh fish shop as part of the business, probably why their fish is always so good!
Not cheap but it's the best seafood source in town. No contest.
They have just raised the price and getting too pricey. Will go to other places.
Good halibut fish and chips.
The best seafood shop I have known in Vancouver.
We recently moved here, and we were on the hunt for the Best Fish and Chips in the city. Here it is!! I didn't even think I liked fish tacos, but these are SO good! Very unique style, absolutely love it. By the way, check out the fish market in the back - they offer sustainable sourced seafood, and the label tells you exactly where it comes from and how it was caught. A real gem of a find!
Delicious fish & chips
Great fish and chips. This was my second visit ; the fish and sides tasted delicious. This place is just beside the Fisherman’s wharf.
The salmon jerky is absolutely amazing. Very fresh selection and friendly service.
Great fish and chips! Large portions prepared well!
I love this place but keep in mind it is expensive. If you live in the area(Closer to North Van, Alot of homes in the area cost well over 2 Million) then you probably earn enough to not have to worry as much about your budget. But that's besides my point I live in Surrey. I go here when I'm in the area I have work close by. They have a fresh selection of seafood, and a healthy selection of fine ingredients along the lines of white truffle olive oil(to me this is Fancy stuff as truffles are hard to grow and Even harder to store plus I hear chefs gush about these.) When I look at the assortment of oils and the limited but fresh selection peppers and cheeses. I'm not joking my mouth starts to water. I'm no chef but I love food then again who doesn't. Also I have been incarcerated which isn't something I like to say but it does give you a different perspective on food once you realize just how bad the food can be then you go to Fancy rich restaurants where the comparison or the spectrum is so vast and far apart is not even fair to call it a comparison. It's like trying to compare McDonald's to an Italian restaurant that serves fresh homemade pasta. You can't compare the two. Finest at Sea. Has it all in the name. They sell the finest and if you talk to the guys and gals here they will tell you exactly what your getting and when is the best time to buy certain fishes. They also have what they call a bistro I'm not actually sure what that means. But you can order things like fish n chips. An amazing shrimp sandwich that just mmmm to die for. One Thing that isn't as good as it used to be and it was literally the reason I started coming here is sadly the clam chowder. They used to have a chef here and I call him a chef not because he cooked but because after he left you realized what a chef is. It isn't someone that can cook, it's someone that truly takes pride when you come to tell him I came here just to spend money for your cooking. I came here because I think this is the best and nothing else has even come close to this soup. And when he left, sadly the clam chowder has never been the same. I don't know if he used a different method and never left the full recipe or if he would use a few different ingredients from a recipe that was already there but in my eyes I realized he was truly a chef because he elevated that dish to new heights. I hear a lot of people and also cooking shows say that but when you witness it firsthand you realize what that truly means. And it's like taking a burger or a recipe from McDonald's and turning it into the burger nobody knows where it came from but everyone knows they want more of and they want to know who made it so that they could say thank you. And you know the sadest (don't know if that's a word but now I say it is) thing is... I never got his name because at the time I took if for granted I was younger and didn't appreciate life as much. Now that I go back and order the clam chowder it isn't as rich. There was a certain thickness to it that just isn't there anymore. And that's not to say it isn't good. It's just not as great as it used to be. And I hate to say that because maybe they try there best there and one of those cooks there see this and think you know F you I try to make it the best I could. But when you see the ingredients surrounding them and then you see the clam chowder barely has any clams or potatoes it feels more like just a plain watered down mushroom soup how can I say it's the best when I have had better. But the shrimp Sandwich is still excellent and I love the fish n chips from here I really do. I'm just giving my two cents here. I love the seafood salad and the Avocados Shrimp and Lime salad I think it's called. My mom loves the orzo salad when they have it. But the one thing I can never leave without is the Salmon Pate. Mmmm it is the best I have had or found and trust me I am picky as all hell when it comes to calling something the best. In Short Finest at the Sea has the Finest you can find(Except that dam clam chowder IM SORRY It isn't.)
Great, quick service! The fish and chips were good, as well as the Panko fried oysters. For the fries, they were okay.
The best fish and chips in Vancouver IMHO. Delicious unique side dishes, dips, appy stuff too. A little pricey but worth it.
The best and freshest fish and chips in Victoria!
Good food, fresh fish, but the price hike was extreme... $11->$17 was too much, quality control and portion control has been inconsistent. Too bad; use to love this place
I stumbled across this joint before heading to Starbucks for lunch. I looked up their offerings on their website. I noticed that they sold a salmon burger at a decent price $10. I thought, why not, spend the extra couple dollars on a freshly made sandwich. However, when I paid, my bill total was just over $15. I was surprised by the huge price difference. When I picked up my order, I realized that the box contained fries. The menu doesn't specify that it comes with fries, so I can only assume that it costs more because it came with fries. For the serving size, the price is reasonable by Vancouver's standards. I took off half a star because there was confusion with the pricing. The flavour was good and the burger contained a generous serving of avocado. The only complaint I have is that there was too much tartar sauce and it overwhelmed the amount of salmon in the burger. The tartar sauce + avocado made for quite a rich sandwich. If you're hungry, this meal will curb your hunger! Overall, I think that they can lay off the tartar sauce a bit in the salmon burger. Also, if they can offer just the sandwich, without the fries, I would return more often.
As always the most wonderful fresh local fish and interesting condiments to boot. Absolutely recommended.
Two piece halibut and a bowl of seafood chowder. Very generous pieces of fish, they were so fresh and moist. Very good slaw, not soaked in dressing which I like and nice crispy chips. The seafood chowder was excellent. Very flavorful and creamy and not too rich. A definite repeat. Thank you for the great meal.
Good spot for fresh seafood. But be prepared to fork out some dough.
Extremely bad food for the price you pay! 50$ for 4 greasy fish tacos the size of a 3 year olds hand! Also no condiments!, and bathrooms were “out of service” I extremely recommend that you starve rather than going to this “establishment”. You could make your own tacos in a toilet than buy them here.
Fish and chips were good. However dinning area shares space with the fish counter. You will smell raw fish while eating inside.
Only place in Vic to buy seafood, excellent staff both friendly and knowledgeable, quality products and the addition of the foodstand/truck makes it a frequent destination for me
Great service and good food
I cannot believe that after all these years I have not yet tried this hidden gem located minutes away from where I live. This place by far has one of the best fish and chips that I've ever had in the city, including Steveston Richmond. If you live in Vancouver, come check out this place. It's a seafood shop, selling everything from fresh seafood, to salads and clam chowder. There's an area to the side where you can order hot food like fish and chips and seafood sandwiches. I ordered for the first time today the lingcod fish and chips with a side of fries. It included a nice portion of creamy coleslaw and chunky creamy tartar sauce with dill slices in it. The beer battered fish was light and crispy, while fried to golden perfection. I will definitely be returning with my partner and friends.
Fresh fish and other seafood that's been locally sourced every morning. They've got prepared dishes as well as some fish jerky that is amazing. Restaurant outside falls just short of red fish blue fish however, batter is not as good and …
My local take-away chippie serves up fresh helpings of Cod, Sablefish, Salmon, & Halibut. I find the portions to be generous & reasonable. Eat it while it's hot otherwise it can lose it's crunchy texture. The yam fries are a great option.
Had the seafood chowder, hamburgers, fish & chips. It tasted ok however the only avaliable sitting is out in the open air. No indoor sitting hence it was freezing when the winter temperature was reading 3°C though the hot coffee did help to generate some temporarily body heat. Sitting outside turned the food cold pretty quick &.exposed us to the elements. They do not provide outdoor heating such as propane heaters something they should seriously consider towards customer comfort. Because of the cold we decided to return back to our car to consume our remaining food. The business location maybe great for the summertime but really bad during winter season. Its o.k. considering take out but avoid enjoying your meal on site.
This is not a food review, so much as it is a "what are you doing?!?" review. Went to stall and asked if they sell spot prawn that are in season right now. Told they do not and then I walked away. Please look at attached picture (giant sign of live spot prawns). They are directly out front of a fish market selling fresh spot prawns. Why not walk 2 feet back and sell them up front for consumption? They are located in the tourist area of fisherman's wharf.
This is the best take away fish in Victoria. Fish and chips are excellent - get the halibut. Fish tacos are my favourite - get the cold smoked tuna. In the winter I like to get the chowder.
Great spot to pick up fresh oysters.
Quite possibly the best fish n chips I've ever had in my life
I would say the fish and chips here are more akin to what you’d get at any run-of-the-mill pub than at a dedicated fish and chips joint. The batter is thick, heavy, and slightly doughy on the inside. A one-piece order does not get you as much as you might expect. It’s also worth pointing out that the fries are more like frozen McCain “Superfries” than the fresh, thick-cut fries other fish and chips places serve (the fries here are the kind of fries that are sort of “bubbly,” if you know what I mean). Overall, this place is okay, but my search for Vancouver’s best fish and chips continues.
Fresh fish. What's not to like?
Fresh seafood. The salmon we bought here was excellent. The smoked salmon was also delicious!
Under a new manager now. Tried their cauliflower salad and golden beer salad. Love the bread that they sell. Fish and chips, so good! They also have a *rice cake" that's pretty interesting. Not like with Asian glutinous rice flour but rather just white rice pressed into a brick, coated in something that will give it a hard crispy she'll when fried (deep fried). A little plain if not a fan of plain white rice, so can use condiment for more flavour. Parking is free but can be crazy busy as they share with Starbucks, Subway, M&M Meats and a hair salon. There's always residential street parking if you cannot find a spot.
Best place to have fresh seafood.
Ordered 2 piece salmon and chips for $16:00. Two of the smallest pieces Of salmon, covered in pepper and 1/2 of the fries were tiny burnt bits. Worst fish and chips I've ever had. Truly a rip-off.Never again.
Amaaaazing fish!!! I had a one piece of ling cod and chips and that fish was literally the best British style fried fish I can remember in my lifetime. Not kidding. Juicy, fresh, nice crunchy batter not too thick. And, the tarter sauce is homemade and not the “sweet” kind. Soooo good.
Best Fish and Chips in Victoria!
Love sea food
Food was overcooked April 18th and very slow. Order taker forgot 1 order.
Best place to get a bit food is so good and fresh
Good fish and chips
The seafood chowder was definitely the best one I ever had in my life! And they octopus tacos were phenomenal too! Would recommend to try this place out!
Ohhhh... they really are the finest...super friendly staff, plus they have cookbooks!
It's the fish store, located up the drive way beside the take out stand, that I was after. Two commercial cooks told me it's the only place to buy fish/seafood in Victoria - they were right---best scallops I have ever purchased and not soaked before selling so no excess moisture - I cooked them that night - best I ever consumed. Fish cakes yum. Salmon jerkey snacks- just great. All they sell is seafood caught by their own boats so quality is controlled and it shows. Also sell at Moss Street Market on Saturdays, but need to show up early cause the sell out really fast
Food was very tasty, although portions were on the small side. Waited 1/2 hour to eat, as my chowder had been given to another customer.
Possibly the best if not one of the best clam chowders I’ve ever had... The soup is not overly rich or creamy and it is very heart, just perfect. A must try if you enjoy clam chowder. They have pre made refrigerated soups, perfect if you want to take home and heat up for your family!
The food truck is amazing! Sockeye tacos and the chowder are delicious and the outdoor seating is perfect. The store is nice too but very pricey. Over all great establishment!
Nice, simple, fresh seafood. The octopus tacos were excellent. Only suggestion would be to carry a few more hot sauces
Good selection of fish, but at a higher price point. Unfortunately difficult to reach by phone.
Great food, you won't be disappointed with the Halibut and chips!
Best fish and chips! We have compared to two other popular fish and chip venues and these are really the best. Big portions that taste fresh with great flavor; seasoned well. This will be our go to stop.
Visited Victoria this past sunny week. Had halibut twice, OMG so fresh. Felt very spoiled to be eating and cooking this ourselves, the best. No idea there was a store in Vancouver. Will be visiting that on a regular basis now we know it’s there. Thank you Finest at Sea. You are the BEST.
Fresh fish, good prices and friendly staff! Awesome spot. Love the picnic packs too!
An excellent selection of locally sourced, very fresh high quality seafood. Very knowledgeable staff. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is the knowledgeable staff are quite snooty about the locally sourced part.
I ordered takeout from here twice and both times I was very pleased with the quality of their fish and chips and the portion size. The fish has a great batter-to-fish ratio, tasted fresh (not frozen) and was very crispy as well as their fries. I no longer live in the area but if I were to visit kitsilano again I would love to dine-in and check out their market/ other goods.
High quality fresh fish
Seafood chowder was reasonable price. It has the biggest chuck of fish, compare to other restaurants. However the smoked salmon in it maked the chowder very salty. I hope they would offer unsalted cracker to neutralize that.
Great quality fresh, frozen, canned, smoked seafood. You do however, pay a premium.
Tasty sea food in a fun setting
Great fish and chips, good prices, nice service with a smile. Good outside covered seating.
I've always been curious about this place. Salmon burger was good, but service left something to be desired and staff were not cleaning outdoor tables (which had food and hair and debris on them when I sat down unfortunately - and it was NOT busy - no one else around). It would be nice if the people working here could keep the place clean.
Great selection, service and price. Will be the only place I buy fish from now on.
Oh my wow. Vanessa at the Gingerbread Cottage Bed and Breakfast recommended this place and she's right! Decent plate served here. Wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived, but these guys know fish n chips. Ate here a few times and when I visit again I'll stop by. :)
I got food poisoning from an Oyster Burger from the Finest at Sea kiosk in Dec 2016. They have not replied to my complaint and email follow up yet!!
The best place to buy fish or smoke them
Really good fish and chips! A little pricey but worth the try!
Probably the BEST battered fish in town and be sure to ask for your chips EXTRA crisped... you won't be disappointed!
Outstanding in all respects!
The prices are cheaper than Barb's. I find that their fries, dips and coleslaw are better tasting and the fish portions are bigger. The seafood chowder is on the thin side but it's tastier and not salty. There's nowhere to sit and eat close to the restaurant hence the 4 star rating.
I'm facing a moral conundrum here with this review because I hear they often sell out of the smoked seafood chowder. It was a religious experience. Fish and chips were world-class as well, but it's the chowder that now haunts my dreams with smokey whispers. Thanks you! I'll be back often!
Great seafood and miscellaneous, lousy costumer service. There's a guy there, dark hair, average build and wears glasses...I've had been "lucky " to get him 3 times, my wife once (today) obviously, this dude hates his job and it's starting to make me not wanting to get my seafood from this store anymore. I really try not to be rude back but if it happens again, it's going to be the last time. I will not go back there or he is going to hate his job even more after I'm done with him.
best fish and chips ever
Great little neighborhood shop with tables on the side of the street. Delicious fresh seafood in a relaxed atmosphere.
The customer appreciation event today was fabulous. An opportunity to taste more of the wonderful Finest At Sea smoked products. If always been curious about the smoked mussels. Yum. Lots of people from the neighborhood to talk with. Lovely. Many thanks for throwing a great little party!
Love the seafood chowder and fish tacos.
Excellent selection of fresh fish and mollusks. Go early or they might just run out!
Best smoked fish in Victoria
Great fish tacos and the best fish and chips ever.
Great oyster burgers and fish and chips..tacos are great too
Fish n Chips was fresh and full of flavour. However their staff needs to work on their customer service skills. Right from the phone conversation for takeout the clerk gave off a snobbish attitude, and when you walk in morale isn't high as everyone looked grumpy and would get easily annoyed when asked for a tiny request (extra napkins). I pop in there from time to time, as it's the only closest seafood nearby my place, but if they want regulars they need to change their attitude.
Finest at the sea food truck on Erie st...worst fish and chips I've ever had...batter not cooked..overpriced for what terrible food you get...don't waste your money...
Seafood chowder is the best in Victoria
Amazing food much better than barbs
Fresh seafood at the local fish monger. There was fresh bread from Batard bakery as well as a limited selection of fresh produce. There were some nice olive oils and sauces as well. I had the halibut and chips.
Love their fish and chips. Been there many times. Had 2 pieces halibut this time. Waited 40 minutes. Surprised to see still so many customers after 6 pm during cold winter night. But worth it!
Clam chowder is soooo good !! Must try! Shoot selection of foods!! Good service.
I go there almost exclusively for my seafood needs. Seasonal products and good standard fillets. Amazing sablefish, salt spring island mussels, and clams currently. Got fresh herring when available. Kind people. …
Very good seafood....crabs, live spot prawns (when it is in season), fresh sablefish (black cod) and clams. The prices are quite expensive.
Excellent little shop with some great seafood and local products. I was able to find some beautiful frozen spot prawns that really hit the spot. Got some wonderfully fresh halibut there as well. Made date night extra special.
Helpful and courteous staff, gret suggestions for shipping and packaging on site. If you love seafood and are from out of town, this is a must stop.
I swing by here once a week or so to pick up fresh oysters love the place staff and fresh selection.
Good service. Good fish.
While lollygaggin’ around Victoria’s Fisherman’s Warf you absolutely MUST stop into Finest at Sea for a much-longer than “quick bite.” Although seafood is served hot, fresh and quick you’ll want to linger over it’s incredible taste & quality. I’d totally rest my reputation on the Sockeye Fish & Chips! Get the overly generous two piece, eat one and take the other half home for another generous meal. It brings fish & chips to a whole ‘nother planetary level! While there check out the fish monger’s shop for the smoked mackerel and octopus salad. It rivals the famed Spanish Pulpo de Galicia for which the Northern Iberian peninsula is most famous. One patron religiously savors the chowder special on a daily basis. We missed that window of opportunity. However, we will be back as the first order of business off the Port Angeles ferry!
April 1 2019. Today my son brought me to this fishmarket for the very first time. He tells me this place is the best. So he bought me a piece of salmon. I came home and I cooked it. I called him and thanked him for taking me there and then I called finest at Sea to let them know how delicious the fish was. I will never buy my fish from anywhere else again. Best tasting salmon I’ve ever had in Victoria BC and I was born and raised here. Thank you so much Barbara Hudlin.
As fresh as it gets. Great service. Reasonable prices!
The fish and chips were fantastic. Will definitely be returning for more. Great food truck.
Everything's really fresh, locally caught/sustainably sourced ????
Three of us went to dinner tonight, I had the spicy octopus taco, my husband had the tuna taco and our friend had lincod tacos. They were all delicious and very filling. Their French fries are SO good!! Would love to have shared photos...but we all ate too quickly!
Went to buy crab staff ignorant and rude so I left. The food at the concession stand is over priced and of poor quality. It is worth going elsewhere the staff are friendly and the fish and chips will not be burnt on the outside and raw in the middle. The owner Tim has been working too long, has a smug attitude and should have retired a long time a go
Delicious fish but over priced - inconsistent friendliness in staff
I went to buy some fish the other day. The shop was empty and served by two people ( man and woman). They were not friendly and when I changed my mind and switched the fish I buy, even they owed some money, they said it is even and didn't give me a change. No courtesy, very cold and no interest to serve.
Great restaurant to eat good food if you are hungry with family and friends
Rating based on clam chowder, I figured a seafood store would have a decent chowder but I was incorrect. A few tiny clams and that’s it for meat or any other hint of seafood. Lots of big chunky vegetables and a bland taste, my wife really had to work some magic to make it more edible when we brought it home. I consider myself someone who values a nice chowder and this definitely isn’t one.
What to say. Best fish taco ever.
Excellent fish & chips!! Best in Victoria.
Food was amazing. 2 pcs of halibut and a oister burger 6/5
Pricey but great quality fresh seafood. We ordered their lobster boil bucket and were extremely impressed with it. Very friendly staff at the store as well.
Finest At Sea have their own fleet of fishing boats, so their seafood are fresh. We bought halibut, wild salmon, octopus salad and seafood chowder, all seems to be of good quality.
Amazing seafood store!
Fresh seafood and excellent food truck service..I will be back
Yum fish and chips!
Their shrimp sandwich is AMAZING! They also had these crab paste one time that were unforgettable as well! I usually come here for lunch but have also bought their marinated fish to go as well! Also very delicious!
Some of the best fish and chips around Victoria bc
Wish I can share a video when all spot prawns are dancing. Decent size plus sweet and delicious taste!
Very good
The ling cod is so fresh and tender. The fries are wonderful and the service was super fast.
Good Chowder In the back they have nice heat smoked salmon.
Always delicious. They have nice seating areas out front and on the side as well. Great fish!
I got the halibut and chips and it is The best fish and chips I have ever had in the this great land of Canada.
The best place in town for fish & chips (oh yes and basically any other seafood need you may have). While the fish & chips made from Halibut, Lingcod, and other fresh fish, and their freshly made chowders are really why I usually go here, Finest At Sea really is a seafood market in the first place. Always fresh, always well presented, always friendly.
Went here years ago to get some crab to travel and they set me up great. Went again recently and the staff told me they were out. I asked if there's anything they had that would travel well and no one really bothered to help me. There were two other people in the store, the staff weren't run off their feet. It's a nice spot to buy seafood they're usually stocked up well and everything is fresh. Customer service has declined all over though.
get the tacos
Great fish and chips. Along with other items on the menu. You can purchase fresh fish from here. Could use a little more seating.
Easily the best fish tacos in the city!
Great informative staff who are there to help you succeed in your culinary intentions with top quality ingredients and service. You want the really good stuff, come here.
Always fresh. Great take out.
Serving fresh hostility for supper! Come here if you have always wondered what the lower decks felt like on the Titanic. The service here had always been abysmal. I phoned ownership in Victoria 3 years ago to ask why it was service here is so bad, and if it was on purpose. The staff have always been very sad looking and are generally inexperienced. The ones who seem to have energy are often really disinterested in anything to do with customer service. Today though was a really special day. Today I asked the price of halibut, was told in grams, asked for pounds, caught an eye roll and an "over 30 bucks." Then I asked for some of each of the smoked fish and the man behind the counter with glasses and longer hair yelled became aggressive with me, and when I asked why he said that I was not specific enough in my order. When I asked him for a different service person he yelled loud enough to echo off the floor tile, "it all goes to the same company!" The young woman who helped me was very kind. The counterperson at the fish and chips pass was very kind. And they both seem like people who sustain abuse without a lot of hostility outwardly. The young man behind the counter has been working there for quite a few years I've seen him before, but he's never yelled at me before. The problem here is management and ownership. If you really want to get some good fish but he yelled at or treated like your business does not matter at all, you should go here. Otherwise you should go anywhere else but here.
Great candied salmon and the biggest lobsters I've ever seen
Their seafood is always tasty and their food truck makes delicious fish tacos!
Name is deceiving. They are located on land, not at sea.
My wife and I had 2 cod and chips meals here...The meals were outstanding...excellent value for the money ....Will definitely go back ...and highly recommended
Best, freshest fish and great salads and crackers.
Probably one of the best Fish and Chips restaurant in BC and or Victoria. We went for family retreat over the summer for 5 days and we loved this restaurant so much. We ordered The Sockeye Fish and Chips , and grilled Sockeye Salmon Taco… ahhhh man…. the fresh sockeye salmon just melted in your mouth. The portions were very good ( filly) and price was reasonable . We also went across the street to FisherMan Wharf the quality of the food wasn’t great as Finest at the Sea. Very small portion and expensive. So we kept going to Finest At the Sea for lunch and dinner. I highly recommend for anyone who is visiting Victoria to dine at Finest at the Sea. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ . Loved it.
Top notch fish and chips place. The fish was battered well and tasted great, while the chips were appropriately cruchy
Fresh seafood. Beautiful fillets of fish.
Whoever cooked the salmon burger was on point. Well cooked crisp on edges near raw in middle just a perfect cook, juicy burger and you can taste the freshness. Terrific job from them. I highly recommend
Fantastic fish and chips. Fresh from 5he ocean to the ????????????plate
Hmmm?? Expected more!? Not much fresh seafood to choose from.
Great little eatery to finish off your walk around the inner harbour.Great selection on the menu. Our favorite spot to refuel..
Best fish n chips in Victoria and friendliest staff.
Tasty salmon burger. It was moist and the fries were fine.
A testing out experience turned into slight disappointment. My order for two persons were totally missed! 45 minutes wait was compensated by a complimentary order for next visit, don't know when! Seafood chowder soup was reheated from frozen package lacking fresh taste. Fish and chips were palatable. Fish burger meal needed a bit work on the presentation. I would go back and check;)
great fish and chips
Best fresh seafood ever! Found everything we needed for last minute paella! They even has the special rice and seasoning.
Amazing smoked fish great seafood at the fish store
Best halibut fish burger
Everything is fresh but a little over priced.
Born and raised in Victoria. Hand down the friendliest service, freshest/ tastiest fish & chips in town; by far! Also... The best seafood chowder in town! Thanks for everything... Finest At Sea.
The salmon fish and chips with homemade tarter sauce was absolutely delicious and the service was very friendly and helpful!!
Great service Great food and the best seafood in town a must try
Best home cut fries i have ever had.
Our first visit to Finest at Sea. Good fish and chips at very reasonable prices. Quick and easy order and pickup process.
One of my favourite fish and chips place. I find that most ppl go to the other fish and chips places on fisherman's wharf. Making FAS one of the hidden gems. It is also a good place to get seafood to bring home. Fresh fish, smoked sablefish, etc.
I've had their fish and chips 3 times now, cooked perfectly every time. It's bomb
Awesome
Very good fish & chips. Crispy coating, fries same. Generous fish portions. Not the cheapest in town but certainly in the top rank.
Food truck was delicious. The Christmas lights add a feeling nostalgia that makes me want to come back.
Great service and amazing seafood! Doesn't get any fresher unless you catch it yourself. Also the salmon jerky is unbelievable!!
We have been in Victoria for a month, looking for the best fish and chips. We found them here. The halibut was cooked perfectly, the batter was cooked through, the fries were 10/10, the tartar sauce was delicious and the coleslaw actually has taste! We will be back.
Great service, informative, and friendly. Do expect a bit of a wait in line due to their occupancy restrictions of their fish market but it is well worth the wait.
Bad customer service and overpriced food that's "meh" at best.
Today while the cook was putting our food in the takeout container, not once, but twice, he took his mask off and ate some of it. Not only is this normally gross, but there's a global pandemic going on! Highly unimpressed and will not be returning
Was very disappointed, ordered 2 piece fish and chips, was told fries weren't available..said ok, then order was ready it was pan fried fish, small portion paid $34, staff did not make it clear at all as to how the fish would be cooked, when clearly If a customer asks for fish and chips...its deep fried!!!! I was clearly not happy about the 3 staff's attitudes...they actually made the my experience worse, will not go back, should have listened to my coworker and went to her go to..lesson learned ????
Great food....well worth the price
Busy but quick and a great choice for sustainably sourced delish seafood! Had fish tacos and halibut & chips from the food truck out front and bought candied salmon, smoked oysters and albacore tuna inside. Tacos were fantastic (great seasonings) and halibut was a generous portion and perfectly cooked. They even let us try a bit of the candied salmon before buying.
Overpriced and you still feel hungry, you eat fries more than fish,
Wonderful selection of fresh seafoods
The 2 piece halibut and fries was extremely disappointing. Unlike halibut, the fish was soft and flaky like cod (which they also sell). When I noted this to staff, the young cook told me cod was actually a firmer fish than halibut! Wait, what??! And to boot the amount of fries was miserly. I’ve eaten at this place many times but this was time was awful. If you do eat here order the salmon — it’s not only cheaper but that way there will be no confusion in the kitchen or on your plate.
This place serves one of the best fish and chips in the Lower Mainland. Extremely fresh and tender fish with just the right amount of beer batter served with the crispiest fries (not the thick cut ones like many other places), perfectly seasoned tartar sauce, and coleslaw with an Asian twist. I've tried all the different types of fish, and the halibut is still my favorite. Not much in the way of atmosphere inside (it's more of a market than a restaurant), so I usually just order takeout.
Best seafood shop in Victoria
Fresh sea food,great service
Really great food. Halibut that has to be rated AAA. Large portions to dig into. Amazing what they accomplish out of a small space. Do yourself a favor and enjoy their food.
Best fish and chips I've had in Victoria. Nice light batter. Mostly fish as opposed to batter. Very nice fries as well.
Great fish and chips. Portion size is excellent and the chips were superior to other comparable fish and chips establishments.
Great service, good fish packing for fish catch on charters.
It is the great fast food truck also the store is absolutely
Fish and chips good but the 15% additional charge if you use a card feels like a rip off as they are at a high price and you have to ask for a fork, napkin and salt/ vinegar not a good feeling Do Not Rip The Local s
Visited the seafood food truck. Fish and chips are awesome, some of the best I have ever had. Batter is crispy and light. Two piece fish and chips is almost impossible to finish. Two large pieces of battered fish with freshly made fries. …
Though is place is little more than a kiosk, it had amazing Fish and Chips. The fish is so fresh here that it's still swimming around in a tank behind place.
Hmmmm fish and chips
He wonderfull
Excellent seafood shop. Beautiful filets, fresh shellfish and smoked fish (try the candied sablefish), with a nice variety house prepared salads, and other ready made sides. Also various choices to craft a seacuterie plate with artisanal canned and jarred provisions. Off their made to order menu their lingcod fish and chips, shrimp roll and seafood bisque are great.
Great seafood but don’t try to order anything from their “restaurant” by phone, Plan to stand in the rain/cold to order and pick it up. Location has very limited parking.
I had been excited to try this place for a while, and finally ordered fish and chips recently. The fish and chips were average, I would say serviceable. Crispy and very hot, and the tartar is good. However the thickness of the batter left a lot to be desired, and the cut of the filet is wrong for fried fish. Both my pieces were big, thick, square chunks, like fish steaks, which minimizes the surface area for crispy batter. The “real” fish and chip places know that you want a long tapered filet, to maximize batter uptake. For fish and chip lovers, the *best* bite is the first and last crispy ends. Between the steak type cut and the thinner batter, I was had many bites of fish only... and basically fish deep fried in oil without batter in the bite is not that tasty because the seasoning is in the fried coating. The price was $17.xx including tax for 2 piece cod and chips which is on the higher end, and there are options on the wharf in Steveston and at Lonsdale Quay that are cheaper and better. I am removing another star because they require you to wear a mask despite the government removing restrictions. I guess because this is a retail shop and takeaway counter they weren’t really impacted by Covid closures, but it’s time to stand in solidarity with other restaurants and industries that were decimated by government closures this last year and open fully without pushing any more unnecessarily medical fearmongering. I almost left when I saw that sign and given that the food was basically average City-run beach concession quality, I regret not trusting that instinct.
Been twice for lunch, both times chowder was sold out. But that's OK! Because the octopus tacos more than made up for it. I only give 4 stars because we keep missing the chowder. Tasty, simple, yummy. As for the fish market, oysters were lovely and fresh but we got shorted by 6.
Amazing!
Very tasty fish and chips, reasonably priced with friendly service. Outside tables and a park make for a nice setting.
I'm fine with 12 yr olds taking my order but this kid was not trained. I had to give my order 5 times. Did not receive the proper order... was told there was no tartar sauce left. When I headed to the garbage after eating, I noticed tartar sauce in the back kitchen window. I pointed to it and told the kid that was tartar sauce and he said he didn't know. I opened up a box I was about to throw out and asked him to squeeze some in a morsel of left over fish. It was good sauce... I don't usually leave bad reviews but I was looking forward to this after a ten hour drive and spicy mayo just didn't give me the fix that tartar sauce would have.
Great
Great place for fish and chips. I come here almost everyday for lunch.
Everything was Yummyyyy! That’s all I have to say!
Some of the best Fish & Chips in Victoria. Expensive though.
Good fish store. The Candied sable fish is incredible, although more expensive than gold.
Excellent recommend it for sure, chowder you don't want to miss
Best chowder ever
Food was great ...I will bring fish to be processed next time.
Best fish and chips
My brother ordered oysters with his meals and was told as he was picking up his order that they had sold out of oysters. Didn't offer a refund for product not received only a meal voucher of equal value to what he already paid for. I got the last order of oysters and he was not missing anything they were bland and over cooked. On the bright side my mothers fish and chips were good (cod) and girl friends cod tacos were also good so I was told.
Absolutely fantastic cod! The sauce was wicked even the coleslaw was delicious!
Excellent place with friendly staff, especially the blonde gentlemen who was very helpful and recommended some great salads.
Tried to enjoy a halibut and fish meal on a nice sunny day. Sadly, the staff were too busy eating, not washing their hands, and moving their mask up and down to make my food in a way that makes me feel I can trust the cleanliness of the workers. I spoke to the manager/owner and forgot to mention - when I asked your employees why they had their mask under their chin, the girl with blonde hair shot me a nasty look. I didn't order my fish with a side of attitude. To quote the owner - your "optics" are bad...
My new favourite place for Fish & Chips. Everything is made on premises, the fish is crunchy on the outside and tender inside. Two of us had different items, both excellent, my second piece of Fish was a little skimpy but it could be a one off. I used to go to the place across the road but their quality went downhill.
Delicious fish and chips!
Great fish store. They also have a number of other tasty items, including fresh bread.
Beware the charged prices vs quoted prices on the fish! The $/100g price they charged me was higher than what they advertised right on the fish. When I pointed out to them the price error, no apologies, no attempt to correct, the blonde female manager simply said, "That's the price, it's just we haven't changed the sign yet". So they were charging a higher price than advertised all day and for I don't know how long. A bit of a scam and very poor customer service. They only got me for $5, but getting ripped off doesn't sit well. Won't be going back.
