Its clearly a nice store inside. We drove 2 hours to see it and left empty handed not dur to critters or price but maybe we visited on a bad day as I barely got a greeting and wasn't until after I was done looking and I made a joke about my chameleon did we get any words and I was disappointed as I had heard all these great things . But bad days happen I felt like there was a heavy angry vibe at the shop and I'm just glad it wasn't at us lol will possibly be back but it's a long drive ! Maybe a website with what they have for sale woumd encourage my hubby to drive me lol

I've come to this store for both saltwater and freshwater aquarium plants and fish, and have never walked away disappointed. I was waiting for months to get a few sparkling gourami and was this close to just biting the bullet and either trying to import them or order from BC. I happened across Tropical Fish Room on google and was completely set, not only did they have the gourami that I was looking for (which are doing quite well) but also some pygmy corydoras which had been on my radar but not at my LFS's. From livestock to supplies there's a a lot available, and I've gotten some good information as well. No hesitation recommending you check it out.

The store smells strongly of mold, the tanks are dirty, there is dust on new merchandise and used merchandise is crowded randomly about the store. Really a disappointment as I made a special trip and had been looking forward to checking out this shop.

I visited the tropical fish room on several occasions when I was starting up my salt water aquarium. All of my experiences there were unpleasant. I found that the store was very dirty and cluttered. The tanks are dirty and some of the tanks had fish dying in it. I decided to still give them a chance and I am now regretting it because I've wasted all kinds of money in there store. I purchased several items i needed to start up my aquarium like the salt, sand and food to later find out that they are way over priced. I found these items cheaper in petsmart. I bought two clown fish, two damsels, a shrimp and a cardinal fish from them. The staff seemed to be knowledgable until I started having problems with the fish they sold me. They told me that all the fish I wanted to get were compatible with each other and then the one damsel started terrorizing the other to the point where it was probably going to die. I phoned the store and spoke with the owner, he said to bring back the aggressive fish...well why would i return the aggressive one and keep the half dead one when it would probably die soon then thats more money wasted?? So i returned the half dead one and he gave me a store credit. I returned a few weeks later to see if he had any new fish come in so i could use the store credit. I bought a mandarin gobi and a chocolate chip star fish (keeping in mind that i asked them everything about these fish and if they would work with the ones i already had). Two days later the mandarin gobi died so i called the store and he said sorry the SALT WATER fish do not have warranty so he can't help me. Next, my cardinal fish all of a sudden disappeared one day and was no where to be found. I took every single thing out of the tank and ran my hands through all the sand and could not find it. So i started reading information online about the starfish and came across a bunch of sites that said it is possible for the starfish to eat a fish. In conclusion basically, these people are liars and i reccommend buying your fish, etc elsewhere. The owner is always rude and unpleasant to talk to and he does not care about his customers.

Today I visited the new location of the tropical fish room. One of the few independent aquarium stores in Southern Ontario. The owner Jerry has done a nice job of setting up the new store with more things being added even while I was in the store. This store is unique because you can buy both new and used items. Wide selection of fish too. Prices are very reasonable but I didn't find unique or the high quality cichlids that I was looking for and that's why I didn't give 5 stars. I do recognize that Jerry is just getting the store up and running so I'm sure it will be better next time.

Absolutely incredible staff. I brought my beloved betta here as a last resort, not knowing what exactly was wrong with him.. They offered to keep him for a few days, trim his fins and give him a salt bath...... flash forward one month, my fish is completely healed and I'm astonished at how much fin growth there is. I didn't know if my fish was going to make it, but the staff here gave him a second chance. No charge. I cant express how thankful I am. They genuinely care about the fish, I highly recommend coming here for any aquatic needs or desires!!

The store is very cramped and dingy - lots of the tanks had dead fish and were filthy. The staff don’t have a good knowledge of fish compatibility and knowingly sold me incompatible fish. My biggest complaint is the absolute lack of customer loyalty. I’ve shopped here several times and spent a fair amount of money - but the owner doesn’t stand by his products, instead choosing to blame his customers ????????‍♂️ Not a great long term business plan. Ruffin’s Pet Center in Brantford is a good local option - (they have excellent live plants) otherwise I would look elsewhere for your fishkeeping needs. I believe they have good fish-based stores in Cambridge or Hamilton.
