Chronicly Understaffed, poor handling of covid. Kind of dirty and about 20-30% of the fruit and veg have spoiled. Staff can be rude and is often unavailable. There are a few things sold here that are better priced. Though I would recommend the local Walmart over this food basics 10 times out of 10.

I normally do most of my shopping at a store where you need to be a member. However, with some exceptions, the bulk quantities of fruit and vegetables is too much for two of us to use before they go bad. So far, this grocery store matches my criteria of locational nearness, price, selection and freshness of their produce.

Small location but decently stocked. Would prefer more international food selections similar to the South end location (Clair Rd), but arguably space is limited. Good produce. Very polite staff. Gets packed quickly and with covid, shoppers are not conscious of others' space and keeping distance/following arrows or people flow. Essentially, leave time for yourself as you'll be waiting for people to stop blocking the aisles and giving you space to get through safely. This is incredibly frustrating but not a fault of the store. May consider a lower customer capacity for the size, however.

As a weekly shopper at Food Basics in Chatham Ontario I find their weekly specials and variety of products good for our budget and grocery needs. They carry quite a wide range of products at fairly competitive prices. After my Friday shopping, I arrived home and began putting away the groceries when I realized that one of the items I purchased was missing. We checked the trunk of the car without finding it. I reluctantly called the store and explained ...thinking we may have left it when packing the groceries? The customer service person told me to bring in my receipt and they would make sure we were looked after. That was a surprise as We thought it would be our loss...???? This will certainly be a factor in us continuing to be regular shoppers at Food Basics. ☺

The prices are pretty good on the groceries. I'm not a huge fan of their produce, the price is lower than other stores, but it spoils faster. I've also noticed this with some of their bread products. Half the time I go, the bagels are still frozen when they put them on the racks. This might be why they spoil quicker.

The produce at this location is hit-or-miss. It's reasonably priced, but sometimes your berries are not rotated. I brought home pints with moldy raspberries buried on the bottom. And its vegetarian "meats" selection is limited. Otherwise, it's Food Basics. Their prices for prepackaged foods are low, and they offer a good selection of common ethnic foods and meat products. (I've seen a Newfie delicacy called beef in brine here).

This location has gone through a makeover!! It's a clean, well-organized and well-stocked store and the staff are friendly. My previous review of this place was low because it was a bit depressing in there but it's changed!! It's much better now and I enjoy shopping here. One of the cheapest grocery store in town. Food Basics is owned by Metro, so they carry their "Selection" and "Irresistibles" in-house brands. They price match many other local grocery store. Ample parking with many other businesses in the local plaza including Lowe's, LCBO and Tim Hortons.

It's the grocery store to shop at when you need to stock up on the staples. You can't beat the price of bread, eggs, milk and canned goods. You need to be careful when buying meat and produce. There is no in store butcher so the meat is always prepacked. I'm not saying it's bad, just sometimes not the best quality meat. Overall there are lots of good values, but you might not find everything on your shopping list. We still prefer to look at all of the flyers and go to several stores to get our families favorite items. We always stop in Food Basics to stock up every couple of weeks.

It was revolutionary, thought provoking, life changing even. What had cause this revelation in my life was a worker there. A handsome charming man who went by the name Jordan. It was love at first sight. Unfortunately i had to go back to California. My wife’s boyfriend had called and said my wife was currently having a child. It was a tough choice, but i had gone back to witness my wife’s child. But i do not plan on staying. Seven months ago, I visited this store and was delighted by the service I received here. Yesterday, I didn't have the same thought; the cashier who served me, threw my grocery items onto the conveyer belt as I looked at her when the items were coming to me. When she looked at me and saw that I was not impressed by her actions, without apology she stopped and asked me how I was going to pay. What bothered me, she was very polite to a white customer who bought 12 cases of 12 orange crush cans, four cases of perrier sparkling water and paid by credit card. Attached is a copy of my receipt adding to the credibility of the above.

Kinda cramped. Pharmacy is fantastic. Cashiers often step out, staring off into space while you try to fathom what the hold up is. Forget self-checkout, it's a game of twenty questions, and you'll probably be there overnight.

Pretty good grocery store for your basic needs I feel, the downfall is they don’t price match and there reason is “there already cheap as is” which is false I have notice there has been some sales that Walmart was way cheaper by even $5. But not going to argue there. I love the fact you can go there like 9 at night and very quiet and no wait very friendly staff and they always have what you need.

But lately I find products that are reduced belong in the garbage disposal instead of being sold especially since they increased their prices and lowered the reduction they give I generally used to buy pet food there till I realized that they charge up to 50% more than what Walmart charges for the exact same product

Came in after a long hard day at work to go get some ice cream. I was lost for a bit so I asked for directions. I come up to this random man called Derek and ask where I can find the ice cream; He ignores me multiple times and walks off to god knows where. Luckily this handsome young lad named Jordan who was restocking near by showed me where the ice cream was and I was on with my merry way. Jordan was a very nice worker and I hope to see more people like him.

Excellent experience at Food Basics in Brockville! Produce was fresh and plentiful. Wide variety of product at excellent prices. The store was clean and all Covid protocols seemed to be in place. I was especially impressed with the international food selection! Since the international restaurants here are limited it's nice to be able to have access to some harder to find ingredients so I can make my favorite dishes at home!

I went in to buy the cheese that was on sale I had a web saver coupon buy one get one. The girl behind the tale went to get the manager to ask her about the coupon. Manager comes back and says we can't accept it because we don't know if it is legit or not. Since when has any grocery store ever stopped people from using printed off coupons. I've never had an issue with this before and I always print off coupons I've been doing it for years this is the first time there's ever been an issue. And I know if I would have went to the food basics at the mall I would have not have had a issue with that food basics only the one on King George. Needless to say I left everything behind went to FreshCo they didn't even bat an eye accepted the coupon and I was able to price match. Yes there's no price matching at food basics also. That will be the very last time I ever step a foot in that store

I was getting a bag of 1% Beatrice mike bag and when I was taking milk off shelve a tie wrap holding lights in cut my left hand and scratches other part of left hand. Manger said I'll put tape on it. I'm bleeding and on a piccline for a infection from something different what type of large food chain fails to aid a person hurt by there equipment let alone says I'll put tape on tie wraps I'd did electric my whole life at GMD you never use side cutters to cut tail off of tie wrap there's a special tool that flush cuts it so this stuff DON'T happen. I'm so not happy and to anyone reading this beware you don't get cut by that time warp or you to will be infected from me worse part is it's there doing and I'm sorry if you get this infection because they niglect to fix it tape over it will not stop you from getting hurt beware

They have recently renovated the store and it has dramatically increased the esthetics. The entrance is much wider which makes it much easier when using a walker. The aisles are rearranged which makes it look cleaner, and much more inviting. The ends of the aisles are labeled, making finding items quicker. Staff is friendly and helpful.

I don't review a lot of grocery stores but I'll give it a shot. This is probably my most frequented grocery store as of late. Seems to be a solid store and well run. Decent sales. Would be nice to have a larger meat section. But I can't complain. Staff is always friendly, but I've noticed them fear anti maskers. I did notice a man in there blatantly ignoring regulations with a mask dangling from an ear and staff just walked by them saying nothing. Crazy times.

Food basics is part of a very large grocers' franchise. Food basics has a large parking lot and plenty of carts for customers to use to collect groceries. They have a good number of cash out machines and recently added a small self-serve area. Staff is very friendly and ready to assist with customers requests. On the down-side, Food Basics floor plan could be better especially around the cash areas especially after putting in the self-serve. 1. The place isn't the cleanest environment, but stocks a very impressive collection of groceries. In fact, Food Basics carries some food items that I can't find in one of the many food stores around Chatham. 2. Although the staff is very functional, there has to be a shortage because I always have to hunt for someone to help me and there seems to not be enough staff on the tills. ....

This Food Basics has plenty of parking. You can buy beer there. Some of the prices are pretty outstanding.The Specialty Foods for snacking that you can be bought for $10; sometimes I buy that. The meat section could stand to be improved the staff are very good and polite and courteous. The store very clean.

The Food Basics on Brookdale is far superior to the Food Basics on Second Street. In presentation and product mix. As a 43 year veteran of the grocery business I'd rather shop in the Brookdale store. Plus the Brookdale store are Union which in my books is a very positive thing for both the employees and the customers.

Unlike ZEHRs, this is much smaller so I can finish shopping much more quickly. (Prices are more reasonable but less selection in terms of brands.) Some items are not located logically but after a few times shopping here, I have figured it out. And when I ask a staff person, they always know how to find it. I hate grocery shopping but when I must do it, this is the store I will go to ... unless we need something that only Zehrs carries, like ACE bread.
