My husband and I visit this pet store frequently as they are the only store in town that deals in birds. They do treat their animals with respect and care. It would be nicer to see the animals have slightly larger holding areas, but it is understandable that this is not always a reasonable change to undergo and that it takes time and a lot of money. They stock a lot of different accessories and food items, as well as treats and specialty items for all types of pets, including some exotic types that you won't find elsewhere. This is the only place in town you will find that sells actual exotic animals, and they do care for them well! They also have a beautiful selection of tropical and non-tropical fish. Though we personally have never used this service, I do believe they also offer dog grooming as well.

I have been going there for a long time no problems but recently it changed today I went to pick up fish and the worker dropped one and when I mentioned that it had fell on the floor she kicked it aside all the tanks are dirty and not very friendly workers

I've lived all over Canada, and this is my favourite pet supply store. They carry everything a person could need fr the care and maintenance of their pets, and if they don't have it, they'll try to get it for you. The staff are some of the nicest people I've encountered; always friendly and ready to help. If you're shopping for your pet, this is the place to go!!

Staff is freindly and selection is good but I don't recommend buying fish here, I have had had fish die on my twice now within 24 hours and the did not replace them. I actually had to inform the staff that one of there tanks had an infection after A fish I bought infected my tank. And the beta fish are grossly neglected. I will never buy live animals here again

I came for fish. I was in the aquarium section and there were so many dead fish. Why they didn't clean out the tanks I will never know. If you want a fish and you live in Brandon unless you want to come home with a diseased fish do not come here.

There the only standing pet store in the last 20 years and more around Brandon Manitoba that take pride in helping you find whatever it is that your looking for, They even take the time to special order things for you if need be. It's a family owned business by two very passionate people who have done a lot for our small community. Lisa also offers grooming in the back for all sorts of animals. From small dogs, cats to My very big bull mastiff Luca. Curtis has been there for a long time, and is passionate about what he does. You could ask him anything and I know he'd have facts and more for you. He specializes in Fish and Reptiles. They have a wide variety of Salt water and Fresh water fish that that are hard to find, and sometimes harder to maintain. Keep in mind, Fish need bacteria to survive also Fish don't just magically poof into tanks. They come ordered, in shipments. So some fish are bound to be dead whether it's rejecting water at the pet store or dying along the way due to stress. It's common and sometimes cannot be prevented. These things just happen. They also have a smaller critter section now as the store has moved around a bit. If you are looking for a beginner pet , such as a hamster, mouse, gerbil, rat . They do have small critters, birds, ferrets , bunnys there as well! I don't know any other pet food supply store who has small animals. If you want to save a few bucks too, whether your buying dog food or collecting points. They offer cards to keep track of your dog food, purchases and cricket cards if you are feeding a lizard etc. And carry only the best dog formula ! That's right, Formula. They take Dog Food pretty damn serious. Which is important for dog owners like ME. During the year they have awesome deals and sales or promotions on dog treats and clothes. They give out free samples at the front desk or entrance when you walk in. And during the Winter Months they have Santa pictures for your furry friends, whether its a tortoise, a cat or a bird ! They don't turn down any animal. I'm sure you could get your snake in the picture if you really wanted. I have never had a bad experience at Best West Located on 18th street. There the only place I can get crickets, meal worms, frozen or live mice/rats for my reptiles. So I am super grateful for their business the past 10 years ! Their open fairly late for a pet store as well from 9am to 9pm Which is convenient for people who work during the day or evenings. Or if your from out of town. So if you want good service, a warm welcome and a friendly face to talk too about supplies or a new pet. Please go talk to Curtis or the fresh faces who work there !

Absolutely horrible customer service. I will definitely not be going back. I bought a double pack of heat bulbs for my tortoise and one didn't work. I brought it back and was told that I was out of luck. I would have appreciated a warning that they don't return light bulbs so that I could try them in the store. Thanks for nothing best west pet foods.

Decent selection, but the owner has got to be one of the most sour people I've ever met. He answers questions curtly and seems absolutely annoyed to help customers. He's rude to his employees and honestly seems to hate the fact that people shop in his store. I've been here on and off for four years, just about every time I come to Brandon, and he"s been the same way every time. If you want an awkward shopping experience in a place where the owner makes you feel bad for walking in, then by all means have at 'er.

Visited today to look for pet tags and take my son in to see some of the animals, man that was working didnt greet us and stood in the back. When asked a question gave a very brief answer and returned to the back. No one else was in store besides us, very poor service. Try to shop local as much as possible especially in more recent days but with poor/unfriendly service I will NOT shop here.

Staff member completely ignored us, not even making eye contact. I guess mopping was more important than asking a customer if they need help. We were looking at the beta's which looked completely neglected, their tanks could of used a decent cleaning. Definitely will not be going back and will not be spreading good word about this place. If you don't want to talk to people maybe don't work in a customer service job... Just a thought

This was my first choice destination to buy fish and I'm aware of the odds with fish so after they died I wasn't really surprised I simply replaced them but upon arrival my two children entered the store a few steps a head of me and as I opened the door I heard a out right " I do not like kids!" I was surprised after I realized it was the manager who said that once he seen the children I mentioned how rude it was to my children unaware it was him at that moment until I noticed he was the only man in the store all the while giving dirty looks as I approached the counter where he was standing I waited at least 3 minutes of him giving me a stare down untill he said "Do you need something?" I responded "I'm just looking for staff" he says "That'd be me" while he serves me rushed & obviously annoyed a few weeks later while replacing a fish we return my daughter received a "What are you looking at?" From the female staff after merely looking at her for a second no greetings upon arrival she behaves irritated and miserable to be there doing her job and like she can completely careless about customer relations at all this alone is enough to make ANYONE feel unwelcome and not want to return ( I was aware the life expectancy of the fish wasn't good considering the care of them but have been willing to simply replace them without complaint my problem is only with the staff and "Customer Service" or lack there of and if these fish die no more for us because I would not return)

Was at the store we'd nite, bought a pleco for11.99 , like most of there fish it died Thursday evening. So I called the store early Friday morn to see if they wanted water sample with died fish. He said no Thursday is passed the time to get credit, I then told him I bought it at 8.pm . I received a Ignorant so we getting down to minutes and seconds are we. So no refund no curtasy and like most all fish from there it died.....thanks a lot big chain stores!!! A pet lovers warehouse is 110% better on a bad day.

Been shopping at best west for a long time, and found the service great. More recently, I have found a certain member of staff seemed annoyed that I even wanted to buy anything and gave curt responses. Bettas are lethargic and water is dirty. The more niche, expensive bettas are kept in semi-better conditions, but not for sale. Also saw probably half a dozen dead neon tetras. Do your customers and animals better.

They carry frozen RAW food! I have been looking everywhere for it! Best food in town for any dog or cat! Just ask at the desk and they will order it for you! My dog couldn't be happier and her coat has never been softer! Only slightly more expensive than premium kibble.

It was an awful experience. We went during covid and masked up. Sanitized. All we needed was info and 3 goldfish. I asked questions about fish and the man working wouldn't even look me in the eye and wasn't giving any answers. They weren't willing to help at all. I feel sorry for his staff that work for him. I get covid , I get it's a different time but if you're so scared of people coming into your business then just shut down. we followed the rules. It could have been a quick transaction if he wasn't such a belligerent arse. We will definitely keep using pet lovers and highly suggest anyone else to do so. They have been more than accommodating in this crazy world, go there!

Very mixed service here. One day staff may be super friendly and one day staff seems like they'd rather be anywhere else. Its very obvious they are understaffed/overworked as most of the time there's only one person working and seems like theres too much to do for one or two people. Managment should do their employees better.

Awesome store for freshwater/saltwater fish, as well as reptiles, arachnids, birds, rodents, and more! They also have a huge variety of pet food and pet accesories...all in all awesome place, if you get the chance to meet the owner, ask him pretty much any question regarding your pet and he'll point you in the right direction, super knowledgable guy! Reason for 4 out of 5 stars is just for the lack of stocking large tanks/accessories...although they can order pretty much anything you'd need.

Beautiful animals and fishes to choose from, however, very rude staff that was not keen on helping me buy fish. Also, she did not even acknowledge my presence in the store, and she made me feel annoying when I asked her a question. I also pointed out that one of the fish was dead, and she replied simply with, "Probably". there are way more friendly pet stores out there, and I won't be revisiting this one.

This store is amazing!!! He has all kinds of fish, fresh and saltwater. Tanks, and then a reptile section, a bird section, and a section with hamsters, rabbits, Guinea pigs, and even ferrets at times!! Plus almost all the supplies you need all under one roof!!!! And curtis knows a serious amount of fish knowledge!!

I went to the cat treat isle and noticed there were quite a few treats that were expired, I told one of the workers just to notify them ( I wasn't trying to be rude). When I told her about the expired products she just told me that it wasn't a big deal. I ended up getting something else and when I went to pay she was very rude, she seemed rushed and slightly aggressive when handling the things I was purchasing. Without asking how I was paying she slammed the debit machine down on the counter and turn away. Because of my experience in customer service I understand how unprofessional her attitude was. Will not go back.
