The staff is so great and helpful. We got a hamster and when we went pick up, the staff shared great tips on how to care for our hamster. Gave us YouTube channels of fun activities to do with our hamster. Very thoughtful and caring staff. Thanks so much!

I saw all of the cute pictures of all of the animals here. Especially love all the birds. Just wish that my budget was as big as my heart. Being a student, and paying my living expenses on top, makes it a challenge to have pets as well. ????❤???? I love coming into this cute little store.

This place is great! I have purchased a few pets here and lots of pet supplies. The animals are well cared for at the store and obviously the owner and employees do a great job. The service is always wonderful, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this place (especially over the chain pet stores).

Horrible place. Reasoning for animals to be over priced is to cover rent (Button quails there $85, from a breeder $5). The place smells like dog piss. Different species of birds kept together. Birds are sick. Animals shouldn't be kept on the floor. Fish are always dead. Cages are always dirty. This place needs to be closed or at least reported. All those poor babies.

Got 2 baby rats about a month ago, had to leave the baby's at the store for 24 hours as they couldn't vaccinate the rats before letting them leave (they said they ran out of the vaccine) Went back the next day to pick up the baby's after they been "vaccinated" had to take not just the 2babys but my 2 adult rats into the vet because the rats have really bad coughs, and they can't stop sneezing. This place has ran me a $270 vet bill because of this places lack of care for animals. AVOID BUYING PETS FROM THIS PET STORE! They keep rats,hamsters and mice in fisk tanks!

I was checking out Tropical Gardens as I was told they have a wide selection of fish. And they do. However, even with an employee present(and currently selling to a customer), there were dead fish in multiple tanks. One tank had a fish holding a skeleton as others chased it to try and pick off and eat more of the rotting fish. These were not "fresh" dead fish from a recent shipment, most appeared to be in there for at least a few days if not weeks/months. Tanks were filthy, with algae beginning to coat the glass. I imagine they hadn't had water changes in weeks, and none of them seemed to have a pleco, loach, snail, or any type of bottom feeder to help clean the tank. I can't imagine the fish were fed properly with the conditions they were in. Dead fish, filthy tanks, and lack of animal care should deter all business from this store. I will not be returning or suggesting to anyone that they support a store with blatant animal abuse.

I can’t event give this place a 1. I am so appalled. So here’s a great story. I have bought 6 rats in total within the span of a year & currently 4 out of 6 are dead & 1 is almost out the door. I am a pet person and I have had PLENTY of pets, including rats before this. We currently have 4 adult rats from our friend that raises rats for a living that are all alive & living healthy for 3 years now, so it isn’t how we are raising our rats. We have not changed the way we raise our rats, yet all our new baby rats have died that we got from this shop. NOT TO MENTION, we have bought fish from there too & one fish killed our Beta with a disease, another fish was blind. Just don’t go here for pets.

Am new to the hobby, and was recommended this place by an employee at a big box store. Came in looking for hardscape for an aquarium I'm aquascaping. The owner(I presume) led me over to the assortment of spider and mopani wood. Lots to choose from. He told me a little about them and then left me be and gave me space to sit on the floor and examine my choices. I settled on two complementary pieces of mopani, very reasonably priced 11 and 16$. He has a good variety of interesting pieces in different price points, so something for everyone. He even explained to me how to presoak the wood to remove some of the tannins and to keep them from floating away. Very knowledgeable and kind. Will visit again ????????❤

Place is dirty and animals are kept in poor conditions. Cages are way to small, animals are not provided with the correct substrate, staff lies through their teeth about the age and care of the animals. If you are an animal rights activist I would pay this shop a visit. Shame on you!!!!

So my girlfriend and I got a cockatiel last Friday, and he was supposed to be hand tamed, yet though it’s taking a long time for him to get our trust and stop his biting, also his wings were clipped way too short, they were supposed to be clipped in a wing shape, not straight across, that’s just hurting the bird. This will be the last time my girlfriend and I will ever come and get a pet from your store. Also our bird was supposed to know his new name which is Ozzy but why doesn’t he know his name then if you guys were so called “going to tell him his new name”

This is my most favourite pet stores in Belleville. The ladies are wonderful and polite. They’re always willing to help and give a little advice and the store is always clean!
