Good Value and Friendly Staff. We moved to Belleville from Ottawa over four years ago and it wasn't long before the "locals" told us about Taste of Country. It specializes in fresh baked goods and frozen food. Both are excellent value and great quality. The staff members are friendly and helpful. The fresh baked pies, cookies, and desserts are designed to get you off your diet. The frozen food help us to eat well on a budget.

Nice variety of frozen foods, particularly the wide selection of time-saving diced veggies. Coffees, Kurig pods, chocolates, baked goods and specialty foods all add interest and make Taste of Country a bit if an outing for everyone. Cafe had already closed for the afternoon when we visited, but we will be sure to check it out on our next visit. Less stellar was the country themed giftware - a relatively small portion of which weren't tacky. The tasteful, charming pieces were sadly obscured by the sheer volume of badly mass produced items that screamed that they are China's misinterpretation of country. Owners might want to take a trip to the Crossroads in Elmira and explore their gift shop for ideas that will make them an exciting destination! I'm sure there is still a place for all of the beanie babies and gift wrap in this store, but they can also really grow with items people will really want to buy rather than plastic melon shaped picnicware.

I used to think this was a great place to buy quality frozen food. Turns out it's a great place to buy President's Choice and M&M products that have surpassed their "Sell By" date and have been repackaged. I purchased some chicken last month (December 2013) and while opening the plastic bag, I realized it "PC Indian Chicken" printed on the inner package, and also that it had a best before date of March 2012. The other products I purchased confirmed this- all expired or past the best before date. I realize that the best before date isn't an expiry date, but almost 2 years beyond that? I think that's probably pushing it. When I returned my products I was told "I should have checked that before I bought it.". Usually when I buy chicken, I'm assuming it's not expired.

This is real treat of a place. Fresh bread and a variety of pies/cakes abound and a dozen freezer bunkers filled with fresh veggies and meats are only part of the products available. The nicnak and curio section is intriguing but i really enjoy the little restaurant when it's open.

I've always loved this store, the country atmosphere, variety of unique gift ideas and a huge selection of frozen foods. I used to look forward to going there and treat myself to an apple fritter. They were the best around but not so anymore. They contain no apples and the centers are always doughy. I also looked forward to the cherry bread but it has also gone down hill. The last couple of loaves I've purchased have had very little cherries. Might just as well buy a plain loaf of bread. So disappointing now.

Great place to grab some good frozen or fresh foods! Ths have So Many fricking sauces and things like it! There's tons of baked goods throughout the store and also tons of locally made things too. Like cheeses, jams +jelly, pop, maple syrup and seasoning. Just tons of different random stuf scattered from floor to ceiling everywhere. I noticed they have gluten-free options for things and all kinds of specialty types foods. So if you're a foodie like I am and have a bit of extra coin (unlike me at the moment lol) then I suggest taking a wander out to this gem sometime!

With a wide selection of food foods bake goods and crafts this store for me always offers something I'm looking for when I go there. Bake goods are always awesome. I specifically go here to buy frozen foods. The layout of the store flows good can be a little cramped sometimes and the parking lot can get busy. Service is great.

'Old Country Charm' isn't something that can be franchised, and it isn't worth much if the product is just a pricier version of whatever Walmart is selling in their bakery. But everything from 'Taste of Country' is good enough to prompt the sort of stockpiling that pushes the limits of what can be devoured before the expiry date... and perhaps the borderlands of sanity. The staff are pleasant & helpful, & the prices are pretty reasonable, especially compared to M&M's. It's a well-maintained, 19th-Century Stone Farmhouse, on your left just a couple hundred feet North of the 401 overpass on Sidney Street, as you're heading out of Belleville. It can look like a residence if you're not searching it out, but there's a sign, and hay-bales dressed up in festive themes & whatnot.

Be prepared to spend a lot of time here browsing! It can be a bit difficult to navigate as there is so much in the store and it can be quite crowded with shoppers. Lots of great gift items on offer as well as food and home decor. We stopped in on November 1st and they have a really good selection of Christmas stuff available - I was able to tick a couple of gifts off of my list! Calling this a "frozen food store" is a total injustice to this wonderful store. Yes they have frozen food, the chopped peppers and onions is a must for busy families that like to cook and alone with consistent products, you never know what cool stuff you will come by. Now, the bakery here is in a class of its own. They have amazing seasonal pies, breads that are things out of dreams and the best butter tarts! And that's just one part of the store! They have amazing seasonal selection of an assortment of household products, decor and unique gifts. TIthe store is located in a beautiful country home with wood floors that squeak and everything a country store should be! In the spring they have chicks for the kiddies to check out! Always clean with good staff.

If you check the frozen vegetables you will see that not many of them if any come from Canada. The biggest majority are from China and Belgium. Does Canada not produce vegetables? The frozen corn was actually from Canada before that from USA.. Will not buy anything food wise from China. So check it out before you buy. Most of the items that have been reduced are out of date...pound cake that was on for $1.00 two weeks ago really out of date.

Purchased the pork chops when I visited Taste of Country. Freezer burnt so badly they were inedible. The same for the little travel size ice cream I bought. The only decent item was the cherry bread. That I did enjoy. This is not the first time I have found the quality of the products being offered in the freezer section unacceptable. Buyer beware... the deal isn't a deal if the quality is lacking.

I love the atmosphere had a terrific experience with jams /frozen food. We bought the Xtra cheesy bread twice now at 7 dollars a loaf. Not impressed have purchased before from the Belleville store was awesome just what you paid for. Will never buy it again off the new store on Schoharie Road . Will be going to Metro.

This store was one of the most amazing stores I have been in. What a great selection of frozen foods and the bakery has the most wonderful products. Try the cheese bread, the apple bread, the cherry bread and so much more. So many products and amazingly fresh everyday. It would be great to have a store like this in Ottawa. There was also an amazing selection of all kinds of goods from candles to placemats, camping supplies and lots of tasteful souvenirs. This store is a must visit and I can't wait to go back. It was one of my highlights of visiting Belleville.

I have to say that overall I was disappointed. There were plusses- the variety of items, clear signage and cleanliness. I enjoyed seeing the holiday candies from my childhood. However, the sale items were stale dated (expired)- should NOT be sold. Too many items from China. Too many unhealthy foods. Many of the items could be purchased from grocery stores, in different packaging and less expensive. I have to admit, it was not what I expected..i expected a taste of country, rural, home, not a store importing everyday foods from A country.

Quaint little place in the country where one can buy all sorts of things. A large selection of frozen and fresh home style foods, vegetables, fruits, meats, syrups, sweets, desserts etc. They also have a second section for clothes, arts and crafts supplies and what can only be best described as "knick knacks." Some very cute craft ideas. Parking is not abundant and it can sometimes be quite crowded inside. That is just what you get for having a quality shop though! I visit this place with my mom most times when I come down to visit and she loves it. I love the dinners she makes because of this place lol

Was quite disappointed with the store. Seems to be set up more like a grocery store. I asked the staff about not seeing any candles and she said that usually people don't buy candles in the summer that's why I wasn't able to see any?? The store always had a great selection of candles but I couldn't find any. I did buy a bag of dinner rolls that had an expiry date of Aug 8th but had to throw them all out today because of the mold. Don't think I will be back. Sad, because I always looked forward to going.

Seems like a frozen food outlet with an attached craft store. Puzzled by some of the items, trying to mix country with modern. We checked out most prices, a bit inflated but ok. The BB dates were disturbing within a week on most. We made a few simple purchases and were pleased. Store is clean and staff are friendly

Lots of stuff to browse among, however if your looking for rustic home decor, you cannot go wrong, if your not looking for rustic stuff, then you will not find what you looking for. That is expected (hense the name), however there is a lot more to offer, cards, candles, coffee shop and food! The turn off here is sometimes you find the greatest priced items and other times the prices are outrageous.
