Terrible experience. They served our food within 5 mins... and it tasted like microwave food for real. Very bland and poor taste, both the fish and the chips. Felt sick within 2 bites. 40$ worth of food thrown away. 1 star because the staff was friendly.. kind of

We went to this location seven months ago and there was 6 of us at 7:35 pm going for fish and chip diner. When we walked through the door first thing we where asked if we where eating in I said yes the LADY said we only do take out passed 7:45 pm and where told we could not eat in. So we left and gave our business to another restaurant that would have us. So we haven't been in the location since then, today we decided to give them one more try it was shortly after 1pm (lunch rush is over) there was not many people sitting in, we sat at a table close to the window so I could keep an eye on our vehicle and was asked to move to another table, I say I would like to sit here as we where already seated, Another sever can over and said you cant sit here you have to move. So again we moved right out the door and will never go back and I will tell all my friends about this location and the way the service is.

Ate here today for the first time, loved it. Can't believe I have never eaten here. Went with 2 others and had the Haddock and Chips. Generous portions of fish, fries and coleslaw. Also home made tarter sauce. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Will be going again, definitely

Had halibut fingers (trimmed ends battered) and chips with choice of broccoli cheese or beef vegetable soup for $12.95. Nice soup - I had beef veg. And delicious fish and excellent chips. Served with lemon and tartar sauce. Nice clean restaurant with efficient friedly wait staff.

Our daughter who is very well mannered, kind, thoughtful, generous, who would never harm a soul but happens to be developmentally challenged was told she is NOT ALLOWED to "dine in" Captain Georges restaurant at 150 Sidney St Belleville any longer, she can only order take out!!! Whatever "female" staff member/server told her this yesterday is pure SCUM and a totally disgusting human being!!! How would you feel if that were you or YOUR daughter??? What criteria do you have to eat in your establishment anyway? Customers are your business and our daughter is a paying customer!!!! SHAME ON YOU!!!! Signed one purely disgusted mother!! PS...my husband says he will never set foot in any one of Captain Georges restaurants ever again either.

We have enjoyed dining in at Captain George's, but the experience of having to order food and pick up during the pandemic has been a very unpleasant experience. The barking of "Can't come in -wait outside!" "Stand here!", "Over there!" "No, behind the red line here!" by the senior waitress has been very upsetting and uncalled-for. We understand the Covid situation, but her approach was very unwelcoming and unnecessary. We are considering not returning.

My husband ordered take out and it was disgusting, fish was under cooked and fries were soggy.i called the manager of the store and she merely said she has been manager for 10 years and never got one complaint in all those years. I do enjoy this fish place. Serves traditional fish and chips. As I get older my body doesn’t like the batter on the fish so I get my fish batter less. I get a larger fish than I would if I just rip the batter off the 2 piece fish meal.

Our son has lived in Belleville for the last year and we were here about two months after he moved. Since then we have gone at least every two months, my friend more often. Everything is very fresh and it’s quick. It’s extremely clean. My friend commented to the waitress that he couldn’t believe how clean everything on the table was. She said it’s because the owner makes them empty and clean all the condiment holders every night. It sounds extreme and like something you wouldn’t appreciate, but seriously you can believe it happens because the salt and pepper and vinegar shakers are all spotless even at dinner time We are moving our son at the end of this month and will visit again. I know we will be back to Belleville in the future, just for the fish and chips.

Good place for fish and chips....but I am only giving 2 stars....the only person wearing mask was the server at the cash....both cooks had no masks on, no nets in the beards or hair and I watched the one cook use the same towel 4 times to wipe his hands and out back on their work area did even see them use any hand sanitizer at all...while I waited for my order....did not wipe anything down after orders.....during this pandemic....you would think that all staff would wear mask and sanitize or am I missing something about cooks not having to wear a mask...I have been to other places and all staff are wearing masks and nets...I know I will be going there or ordering take out from there for quit a long time maybe never....sorry captain george ????

In from out of town and family decided to go for fish and chips. Had not been here before. Small restaurant in a strip mall. Great variety of fish including cod, haddock and halibut. Also shrimp and clam strips. Fish was EXCELLENT! Battered, but it was a light batter and there wasn't more of it than the fish. Excellent sized portions of fish, although we always order 1.5 to 2 portions of fish for my wife and myself. Huge servings of fries. Excellent fries. I saw a poutine that a person was eating indoors and it was huge. Definitely will be coming back here. This is what a fish and chips SHOULD be like!!

I went in here once with my friend and she was getting a pountine, it was raining outside so I came in to wait with her for her poutine. The lady who was working asked me if i was getting anything and I said “ no im just waiting with my friend”. Then she rudely told me I had to get out. It was not busy and I was not doing anything wrong, so there is no good reason as to why I had to leave. I WILL NEVER come here ever again.

We usually have good food and great customer service. This past Friday we went to the restaurant. We got greeted quick. The ladies were too busy socializing it took a while to show we were ready to order... they were still socializing. Took a while to get out food but it was hot and fresh from fryer. Only one thing of tarter sauce I was disappointed. Only thing I ate that day That night about a few hours after I started feeling sick to my stomach and feeling off. I had tummy gurgles, tummy rumbles and cramps. My bestie and I were running for the bathroom. Him in his hotel room and me at my home. We had food poisoning. I was watching intensely of the cooks. Cross contamination is immanent. Nobody washed hands between raw food and cooked. No washing hands after so long. I noticed that there wasnt gloves when handling raw foods. It concerned me greatly. I suspect cross contamination after touching raw with cooked food when plating. The practice of washing hands is absolutely needed. And playing with money and handling food needs to stop Washing hands after handling peoples money is absolutely necessary. Will not return... I'm not risking my health by poor preventing of illnesses and cross contaminations. I'm not happy... Went from 5 ☆ to 1☆

Great spot to get some fish and chips. Staff are always very friendly and the food comes out very quickly. Prices are what you would expect for fish and chips. Daily specials and student specials are also available. Easy walk to the Belleville fairgrounds in the summertime and perfect spot to stay warm and watch the Santa Claus parade in the winter.

Ordered takeout, of course, Thursday May 6th, 2021, and was so looking forward to crispy delicious halibut fish & chips. I ordered 2 halibut & chips with 1 extra piece of fish. The cashier wasn’t especially happy to see me but she could have been having a bad day, it happens, no problem, I was still going to be smiley and courteous. When I got home, I only had 1 order with 2 pieces of fish. Yes my order wasn’t as expensive as it should have been but I never questioned a thing...didn’t think I would have to. Now the food: had no crispy batter, but there was a very thin layer of something on it, and the fish itself tasted fine but was soggy & rubbery and the fries were way over cooked. That’s my experience never to be experienced again. Have a nice day.

If it's going to be 10 minutes I'd like to get my food in that time. Not 20. Also the portion sizes have been getting considerably smaller and smaller each time. That inconsistency is frustrating.

Absolutely fantastic! The best lightly battered fish and hand cut fries in the area. Very reasonably priced, great value. I don't believe they serve alcohol, and the food is understandably better when you "eat in". The atmosphere is that of a fish and chip shop, not upscale dining, but it's always clean and bright and the service is great. Salads are pretty good too.

I ordered a double order of very expensive halibut and fries plus sides two weeks ago (August 2021) to share with a friend at work. The fish was wet, under cooked/almost raw, mushy and disgusting. I called the next day and was told it was fresh halibut not frozen so would be a different texture. I said indeed, it was a raw texture tasting like baking soda. I wanted a refund she said probably just more halibut. I was told she'd have to talk to owner and get back to me. Two weeks later I called again and asked why no reply. She said "you told me you were calling next day." um, correction oh no I did not. I then told her my friend told me the next time I saw her she was really ill for two days. She said you didn't tell me that. Lol I didnt know in first call. Omg. Long story long. I still need to talk to owner. Girl said all he can do is more of the same fish. IMO horrid food, service and response. Meanwhile, $27 for two pieces of deep fried sushi mush can be yours!
