Most of the tanks had algae growing throughout them, like a significant amount of algae that had been there for a while. The last thing someone wants is to bring algae to their tanks at home. Most of the plant and some fish were no labeled either. It only took 10 minutes before someone acknowledged I was in the store, and the store wasn't busy. Hope things are cleaned up soon, cause I won't be going back until then.

I went in to buy some GloFish tetras. All of the staff were extremely helpful and very friendly! This was my first time in the store and I will certainly be back! They have an amazing selection of live fish and all of the accessories you can imagine! A great place to visit and the staff seemed happy to answer questions.

This literal gem of a store just opened up, so I decided to check it out in person and I'm very glad I did. Even though there was still stocking going on, the selection of aquarium products blew me away. Not just the typical stuff you find at the big chain stores, but things for the advanced hobbyist as well. A very nice selection of 'monster fish' sized driftwood and things you have often heard of online, but seldom, if ever, found in store(like material for a matten filter for example). I don't think there's anything you wouldn't be able to find at this location, and I am beyond happy it decided to open up in Barrie; and in the north end at that! I was also able to have a chat with a few of the employees amidst their busy day of continuing to stock, and adding the finishing touches to the store. They were super friendly and knowledgeable. An easy and honest 5/5, and it'll only get better!

Went there to look inside. They are curb side pick up only so couldn,'t go in but he saw me at the door and ask what wanted .I wasn't even sure I just started salt water . He said he had two clown fish then ran in took a video send it to me and boom now I got fish. Was a good price

Very nice selection of natural aquarium decorations such as rocks and wood pieces. Also has a nice selection of substrates and accessories for fish, shrimp, and just about any other aquatic or semi aquatic animal! Interesting to see some different products that I don’t always see in big chain stores. The staff (especially Darcy) was very friendly to me and my young son, who really enjoyed looking at all the cool fishies and reptiles, frogs and turtles in the back of the store. I’m looking forward to visiting again soon!

Amazing fish store!! Has alot of different products then other places, also has massive fish rooms, tuns of sting rays, gorgeous Arrowannas, giant Axolotls lol I can't spell, and even live copepods/ bug larvea!! This place has tanks you've never seen before, super clean tanks, and every fish you look at looks super healthy!!... very friendly staff :) still a bit new and still expanding an already big fish room!! ❤???????????????????? Highly Recommended without a doubt.

Very Rude Staff. No selection at all and when I try and have simple small talk the guy is just uninterested and shallow. If I could give 0 stars I would. Just go to Big Al's in the South end on Bryne Drive. They know their fish and have an amazing selection and wonderful staff.

This reptile spot is amazing ! They have so many different reptiles and fish... rare ones too! I come here almost every week for reptile food and to check out their new selection. Tropical Gems has great and friendly costumer service. I found them to be very knowledgeable about all your needs and questions. Their staff talked with us for over an hour and really explained everything to us. Our family decided to purchase a leopard gecko. I am new to reptiles and had lots of questions. Thanks to Tropical Gems we now have the perfect set up for our new pet.

Friendly, helpfull staff. Great price, lots of aquarium accessories, food, tropical fish and lizards. The only reason I didn't give 5 start is that I only keep african cichlids but they only have a extremely small quantity of them. Some of the fish food prices are actually cheaper in store compared to online so buy and support the store.

First time dealing with this place and I can't say it was easy. Placed an order for some fish because they weren't in stock. Checked back in a week and they didn't order them. Asked to check back in another week. Called this morning (a week later) and the gentleman on the phone said they were in and to come to the store. Showed up only to talk to another guy that said they didn't have any and they could order some for us. No thanks. I'll just go to the other place in town as they now have them in stock for 20% cheaper.

If the staff weren't so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, I would give this business 1 star because of the leopard gecko set ups. I believe they are more concerned with having a large amount in stock and/or cool morphs than the animals' care.

I was told this plant was an aquatic plant. They has it in a tank labeled as (green fern). When I took it out of the pot, there was no rhizome nor roots. After some research I've learned it's a terrestial plant called Selaginella willdenowii or peacock moss. I won't aurvive under water. I don't like being lied to.

First time there was ok , need more variety of fish, Not open long ill wait for a bit then go back to give another rating the stingrays were awesome however way too expensive for the average buyer$ 750.00 wow i could see at the most $200.00 for a small one go up from there! Could be dead a week later, to much money. I personally would love 2 however!! But not at that price.

Bought four fish totaling over $50. The next day one had died. Called the store and was told they don't guarantee fish. That was less than a week ago. As of today all four fish are dead. The rest of the fish in my tank are ok. Save your money. Looks like I'm going back to big Al's.

Disappointing. Prices change at owners discretion and they are always more expensive then big al's on saltwater - also has a horrible selection for saltwater and doesn't bring in inventory. If you want a fish he will order and take a 50% deposit and I doubt would pickup when he says he will based on my experience. His pricing is outrageous, (in my particular case 140 vs big al's at 90) 55% higher is crazy. He also didn't have it in stock where big al's did - he did offer a 20$ discount but said I must pick up immediately when it arrives and it was my problem if it died. He also quoted me on a coral 40 dollars per head, then changed his mind two days later and offered 45.then he tried to charge me for a 3 head coral when it clearly had 2 heads and not 3. What a shame as it was nice to have a new fish store in town - I won't be back for anything here. 2 chances and both times left disappointed.

So I decided to try this place out as the only other place that's open even close to gravenhurst is big Al's. I went in looking for a tank for my axolotls and told them I have a hard time buying online as I like to have a look at what I am getting. They said they were more than happy to let me come in and look as long as I wore a mask, 6ft blah blah blah protocol....we all know it by now. They didn't have a tank for sale that worked for me but the owner took me to the back to see what they may have back there. I found one that was perfect. He gave me a great deal and let me look around a little. I was interested in the geckos but had never had one before. The young guy that was there was super helpful and patient. I ended up also getting a gecko and all the fixins for that too. I will definitely be coming here again. They give that small town feel when you walk in but still know their stuff. I would recommend to anyone who wants to feel appreciated as a consumer to go here.

To start off I love the store and the employees. I’m not sure what’s being done at the moment but I went In recently and a row of tanks all had ich. I would presume that they were still being sold because they had prices up still on the tanks. If someone new got into the hobby not knowing about ich or other diseases and was sold one of these fish they likely wouldn’t know how to deal with it, especially with our laws in Canada regarding fish medicine. Don’t get me wrong I love the store and the employees I just think that if those fish ARE in fact being sold they shouldn’t be. At least until they have been gotten better. If I got into the hobby and didn’t know any better and my fish died due to a disease then I’d be sad about it.

This store was so friendly and helpful! My son had been saving up his money for an axolotl. Unfortunately the one he wanted was a bit more expensive than he anticipated and had saved for. The owner took his time to help my son pick the one he wanted and made sure it fit in his budget. He made a young boy very happy and a cutomer going for the rest of our supplies going forward. We typically shop for fish at Big Als. Nothing against them, they are great also. But this level of service was above and beyond.
