So good..! We at work call it the poutine spot!! But it's so much more!! The halibut on a bun is .... well... the best there is. When you pull up, there might be bit of a line... just means it's that good and everyone knows it, but definitely worth the wait!!!

Most important is the fish. I ordered halibut and chip. Halibut was perfectly cooked with the batter having the perfect crunch without being thick or oily. Coleslaw was perfect. Chips were nice and thick, cooked great and you get so many. I wasn’t a fan of most having the thick skin though (like NY Fries). It’s an outdoor place like a big chip truck with about 4 large picnic tables for eating on. The ladies running it were very friendly. Price was good for the amount you get. However if you order the 1/2 cups with your fish you don’t get the coleslaw. I will definitely be going back. If you found this helpful please click like ???? cheers!!

Portions are very generous; I usually order a fish dinner with half fries. Gluten free option is delicious and they are celiac aware - never had an issue in the several times we have ordered for our celiac daughter. I have had the halibut, haddock, cod and sole and all were equally delicious. Family run and lots of fun.

Stopped in for lunch disappointing, Ordered haddock and 1/2 chips assuming by the $11.75 price it would be large enough (the full size is $13.75!!). Fish size was small I believe there was more breading than fish, also fish inside breading was pretty wet still. Fries also small portion, cooked not bad but far from the best and gravy was lumpy and flavorless clearly a powdered mix prepared incorrectly. There are far better options for fish and chips in town, in actual restaurants..... with better food and cheaper prices.... I will say though the two ladies running it were very pleasant and cheery, so that's a plus I guess??

A must visit for any fish and chip lover! Staff is very friendly, they follow COVID-19 protocols and offer generous portions fresh out of the fryer for a reasonable price. I ordered their “half” cod meal and subbed the fries for poutine, it filled TWO people, I was blown away. I couldn’t imagine eating their “full” size in one sitting, so for the price their portions are VERY generous. I can’t speak to the other items on the menu, but I was satisfied and the food served was fresh out of the fryer. Definitely on my “have to visit again” list if I find myself in Barrie in the future.

First time visited today and not disappointed. The staff of lovely ladies were very jolly and friendly. Value for money was fair but the wait could be shorter after ordering. Haddock was very fresh and meaty and the batter tasty. The chips were well cooked and crispy but not the best I have had. Maybe the drive to the north end took the edge off them. Will be returning.

Amazing! Being celiac it's hard to find a place that will understand and be able to make safe food. This place has the best gluten free fish and chips, deep fried pineapple.. And have yet to try the deep fried mushrooms! I highly recommend anyone to stop in and try the amazing food!

This was such a cute place! All of the ladies were kind and chipper, the price was reasonable, the portions were large, and the quality was there. We had the cod and haddock dinners, with jalapeno poppers and jalepeno lime dip, everything was really good. Definitely coming back!

Pretty good. Not a fan of the coleslaw. I think it's pretty bad. But we came for the Fish n Chips which was good. Its not cheap. But it is good. Fish portion looks to be about 6oz. Battercwas light, crispy. Very good. Good amount of chips. If only one person. Easily can order with the "few chips" option. Which is roughly a half order of chips.

This place is a go to must for every Celiac in the Barrie area!!! Yes, they do have a dedicated fryer. Yes, they do use gluten free batter. Yes, they do understand and implement the necessary precautions to avoid cross contamination! It is just all yes around. Unsure about something? Simply ask! They are very used to the gluten free questions and know they have a big gluten free fan base :) Glad to have you back for 2021!!!! Seriously, the BEST gluten free fish and chips truck in Ontario.

Five stars, two thumbs up ... it’s the REEL deal. We have been on a search for great fish and chips in Barrie. There is stiff competition in our city with many good to great options. BUT ... we have found THE.BEST. at Reel Em In Fish and Chips. If you have ever had fish and chips at the original Herbert’s in Killarney you will appreciate the experience to be had here in Barrie. Step up to the window on the order side of the truck, be treated to a really friendly, efficient process with LOTS of delicious options then step over to the waiting area while your order is freshly cooked just for you. Picnic tables available if you want to eat on site; you are a five minute drive from Minet’s Point; and the new Harvie Road bridge means we were home on our deck in seven minutes. Perfectly cooked, delicately battered fish (we had the halibut), and hot (yes, even after the seven minute drive) scrumptious, deep brown fries. We had the ‘half fish and fries’ ... just the right amount of fish and lots of fries. They are open six days a week until October 31st. Get over there. You’ll be soooooo pleased with your meal. Yup, it’s the REEL DEAL.

Due to celiac disease I only trust 100% gluten free facilities and VERY rarely will go anywhere else. After reading great reviews I cautiously tried Reel Em In Fish & Chips after talking with the owner. I'm extremely symptomatic & cannot risk cross contamination. They are so cautious with their gluten free items. I've never had a bad experience. People in the gf community struggle to find variety, like fish n chips, so it's great to have them. The portions are great, the price is good, highly recommend.

Just ate a meal at this place. Got fried haddock for two, with fries, tartar sauce, lemon, gravy, coleslaw with an extra side of the jalapeno poppers with jalapeno sauce. Everything was super fresh and absolutely delicious. Sad to see they're only around till October. The service was friendly, helpful, cheerful and quick. I'd come here again and again.

Went for the first time ever today and the reviews are right, this place is great. The halibut is 5 stars, honestly don’t think it can get any better then that. The poutine was excellent,lots of real cheese curds, gravy and home cut fries. Tried the calamari and I have to say it’s as good as I’ve tried it anywhere. Service was great, when we were handed our food, they made sure we had everything we needed right down to the sauce for the calamari. We will definitely be returning! Also, while we were in line, there were people behind us who drive 30 minutes to eat there. Says a lot right there. Great job

Outstanding! I’ve been looking for battered gf fish n chips since we arrived from the UK in 2004! I last had fish n chips while visiting the UK 2015. As a coeliac, I struggle to find incredible cuisine, often told to order the salad :( When I came to Reel Em yesterday I ordered the haddock, mushrooms, chips and coleslaw. All gluten free. It was to die for. The batter was crispy and light with enough flavour that didn’t detract from the mild sweet haddock. The chips were cooked to perfection, then dusted in a light sea salt. The mushrooms popped with juice and explode in your mouth. Then, there was the coleslaw! Crunchy, creamy with the right amount of tang. The tartar sauce was so delicious and fresh, it completed the meal. Paired with a chilled Chardonnay, I was in heaven. Thank you ladies. You over exceeded my expectations. Obviously, I’ll be back!

Portion sizes are great. The fish is way too oily. I don’t think they’re frying hot enough. I’m a big fan of fish and chips and this place is not close to being the best I’ve had. I’ve also had the poutine. The portion was big but, stingy with the gravy which made the cheese curds stay cold and not melt. Would have rather had a smaller portion with more gravy to melt the cheese. I ended up throwing most of it away.

We tried this place only because Danny's fish and chips were closed and I regret it the worst fish and chips and gravy and coleslaw i am not kidding it was All that BAD! the so called halibut had a jelly like film and the batter was super crispy and oily the fries were cooked to it's limit the gravy was made right in front of me a bag of brown powder and hot kettle water and coleslaw was warm I could go on but I think I made my point.

Reel Em In Fish And Chips is a fantastic place for people like me who have issues with gluten. They have a wide variety of gluten free options that taste incredible and portion size is great with the price you pay. I ordered the gluten free battered cod dinner, which came with homemade hand cut fries, homemade gluten free coleslaw, I added the gluten free and vegan gravy. The women who work there are so friendly and welcoming they took the time to answer all of my questions about the food and they made the experience so much better. If you are ever in Barrie this is a must try place!! I just wish we had one in Toronto.

Giving a two stars and that is generous unlike their portions. Ordered large halibut and Onion Rings, the taste was good, however the portion size was not. For roughly $18 you would hope to receive a lot more, the size of the fish was small and the amount of onion rings in the box was pitiful mostly half rings broken up in the box. Since Reel em in moved from Jerrys the price has gone up and the quantity has reduced. Sad as i did enjoy the food here.
