Every time I've been in the store, the staff is very helpful and makes great suggestions. I tend to leave with shrimp and crab dip most of the time and there is never anything left after dinner! Now I just need to learn how to prepare other types of seafood!

You can't beat this place for fresh seafood. They carry a large assortment of items. Fish, shrimp, scallops and even sushi grade tuna. (I would call ahead for the tuna) This is not a restaurant. If you're a seafood lover Johnny's should be on your grocery list everytime.

Pricey, but great sea food products. I recommend the smoked trout. And to my surprise, I bought the most tasty seaweed salad I have ever had there. I did not at all expect to see it. But still, my only complaint is that the prices are very high and prevents me from returning as often as I would like. And I don't think they have sales, althogh i could be wrong.

I was in a while back. I recently discovered that I like eating fish, so I asked Curtis about filleting salmon. The guy pulled out a salmon and showed me how like the true master he is. His hands are so precise and smooth with a blade. It was a beautiful thing to watch. I was so mesmerized watching him cut that fish that for a split second, I wanted to be that fish that he was filleting. I brought it home and cooked it with Curtis' recipe and it was to die for. This man deserves a pizza, unconditional praise, and a YouTube masterclass.

When I arrived, I was fortunate that Dale was available to help me, answered my further questions and offered some welcomed advice. We only buy fish from Johnny's. We have been coming here for almost 9 years and never ever been disappointed. The fish selection is very good. Everything is always fresh. They also have fresh lobster, shrimp, scallops, mussels and other seafood. There frozen selection is also very good including the crab legs, crab and fish cakes, seafood spring rolls and many more. The service is always impeccable, super nice and polite. The prices are accordingly. Is not cheap because this is not a cheap store. You pay for the quality and the service.

Buyers beware!!!! I ordered fish for a dinner party, not a problem until I got home, was preparing the fish to be cooked when I noticed that more that half of my order was rotten, pasty and it would have caused a lot of people to be sick. I decided to return the fish I bought, all they had to say was that the fish is fine and that there is nothing wrong with the fish, I was not willing to take that chance. I was told that Johnny the owner was going to call me, it’s been a week still no phone call and I didn’t get my money back. The staff is extremely rude and know that they were in the wrong. After returning the fish I drove to Woodbridge to the Seafood Depot, I was able to buy fresh fish for my dinner party, they cleaned the fish at no extra charge (Johnny’s charges their customers to clean the fish) and were extremely respectful. It’s worth the drive to Woodbridge, stay away from Johnny’s. The fish from Woodbridge Seafood Depot came out marvellous and delicious, I don’t even want to imagine what would have happened if I would have cooked the fish from Johnny’s, stay away.

Johnny's is truly a "Seafood" vendor. He smokes his own fish, make a great fish spread, offers fresh and frozen varieties, has a huge boat upon entry filled with mussles / clams / etc. Go to Johnny's, you will NOT be disappointed.

They match whatever zehrs and sobeys have and its good quality, but would be awesome to have some of the tropical stuff i had down in the islands. Toronto sells a lot of the stuff so fish sellers could definitly get it if they wanted too.

First time going there as I needed raw oysters, I usually go to Diana Seafood but I live in Barrie. I went in a few days earlier to see if they have any in stock and they only had 2 left. So I wanted to put one on hold and put down a deposit and pick it up on Sat. They put it on hold for me but didn't take my deposit. They said they trust me and will see me on Sat. Amazing customer service by the staff there and the seafood was very very fresh! I can't wait to try other seafood from them. I highly recommend them if you want fresh seafood.

I was a regular customer. I do most of the cooking for my family, with a wife and my kids who all love fish where better to go in Barrie, right? One Saturday about a year ago. I bought cod for dinner on Sunday. When the fish was opened it did not smell right and had a parasite in it (worm). No big deal, cod can get them. Further examination of the flesh i found about 8 to 10 of the worms. With the smell and the quantity of parasites I moved on to other product I had bought from Johnny's. Fantastic quality and freshness we had a good dinner. On Monday I returned to the shop the was told the fish was fine and they would not do anything for me. I was told to cook the fish really well. I declined and the fish was taken and put in the garbage by the man behind the counter. I now buy my fish from Zehrs and have had no reason to complain. If I did, I can guarantee I would be looked after

Great service, even when packed. Only got lobster and had never been there before, so I have to base my review on my one experience. I was surprised that they did not have fresh lobster tails, but they may have just been sold out. I bought whole cooked lobsters instead, and when I asked what kind they were, the clerk looked at me like I had 3 heads, but eventually was able to answer. Lol. Would definitely go back, must try their crab dip!

we live int he area and been here several times. The last time we visited we purchased 1 kg package of BC shrimp. What we didn't know was all the shrimp has roe in them! this was not displayed anywhere on the packaging and the staff never mentioned it to us. Needless to say we won't be buying this shrimp ever again. This is false advertising or at the least, misleading. It should be clearly labeled that all the shrimp have roe(eggs)in them. That counts for nearly half the weight of the package. Never again.
