My family and I used to go here all the time many years ago and it was amazing. Huge pieces of fish. I ordered a large halibut and fries lastnight and paid a hefty price for it. I only recieved one piece of fish that was way too small for the price. They tried to make up for it with about 3 pounds of the soggiest, most undercooked fries I have ever eaten. I was very disappointed with my experience. Honestly probably the worst $20 I have ever spent on a meal.

We love this restaurant!!! We try to go at least once a month for fish 'n chips. One of the few restaurants in Barrie that serve REAL halibut!!! And not ALL batter!!! We love the staff, the good selection of wines and the friendly service! Highly recommended !

Havent been here for some time. Wow, what a difference. It was good before but it's fantastic now. Everything was light and crispy, nice portion sizes, great value for the prices. The fries are a massive improvement over the previous owner's fries, like night and day. Great job to Mike and the crew.

Food was good but for $15.00 the single portion of fish was pathetic, also didn't even have alot of fries either for that amount paid. Going for the larger size the price jumps to $18.00 and although the fish was good it is not worth the prices paid.

Poor quality food. Chips were disgusting. Falsely advertised deals on their website. I went in and ordered a halibut and chips and wanted a side of baked potato. They decided not to give me the chips and only the baked potato. When I called and told them online it says the meal comes with your choice of side, I was told that's for eat in only. Would not go here again.

Definitely the best fish and chips I'm Barrie! Go there quite frequently for top quality fresh fish and chips and always finish the meal off with a delicious bowl of rice pudding. If your in the mood for fish you can't go wrong here :)

Too many good things to say about this place! Our waitress Tam was so friendly, with honest recommendations regarding the food and knowledgeable about available options. The food it self was quick to arrive and delicious only begins to describe it. Imagine a place where you'd want to become a regular simply because it's as inviting as a pleasant family get together. Homemade food and pleasant atmosphere make Fancy's a must try for anyone looking for an enjoyable dinner out.

I would give zero stars if I could. My wife and I stopped by for takeout for the first time. We got home and found that the fish was nothing but batter. It was literally just battered air. The worst "haddock" I have ever had. The fries were also very over cooked. We will NOT be back.

Don't come here if you're British and thinking you're getting fish and chips like back home. Ridiculous prices, tiny portions and don't know what scampi is, even though it says seafood in the name and all fish and chips shops sell it in the UK. $10 for a tiny box of chips? Go to Danny's.

i was very impressed that the decor was finally being redone, the glaring florescents in the server area are still anoying and unnecessary,some drop pendant task lighting would be plenty of light , the food is quite amazing but you can't have great fish and BAD fries, they almost taste like super market frozen fries , seriously need to make amazing fries!

I Was craving fish and chips and my husband suggested we go here. We had the haddock dinner Was not disappointed! Good portions, fresh homemade fries and a huge piece of fish with coleslaw. The glasses were chilled a small luxury but makes a big difference.The waitress was so nice and the restaurant was nice and clean and the prices were very reasonable. Less than 40$ for two meals with a beer. 1000% recommend going here and will be coming back.

Love the food! Service is absolutely HORRIBLE. Tried ordering half hour before close and apparently orders stop at exactly 8pm when they close at 830? If you close at 830, you work until 830 which, in the food industry means you serve and accept orders from ALL customers until that time. I would like to be able to order fish and chips at 8:10pm on Mondays... NOT HAPPY. Our business will find it's way to Chois Fish & Chips until this issue is addressed.

We had breakfast there today- omelettes that were great as usual, and we get salad instead of potatoes and toast. They give you a large serving of salad and it is absolutely fresh. They make sure you have lots of coffee also. They have a front entrance with some parking and a rear entrance with lots of parking. The only bad thing this time was 2 staff were smoking about 5 feet from the back entrance and we had to walk through their cloud of smoke. Mangement should make sure they are far from the door, or put a shelter for them to be in in winter and it would be shade in summer.

Not impressed with any of the food that we ordered. Batter on the fish was reasonably good but the haddock inside was very wet and flavourless. The fries are just cheap frozen ones with no flavour. The mushy peas had the right consistency but again no flavour. The service was fast and friendly.

We use to go there all the time it had been quite awhile since we had been there and it has really went down hill we won't be back we will stick to Danny's fish and chips in Barrie the waitress was not very friendly we were the only table in there and the food took a long time the shrimp were over cooked the shrimp sauce was terrible didn't taste like shrimp sauce the tarter sauce was terrible tasted like vinegar the garlic bread didn't have much cheese which they charge $3.00 for and it was hard I think it was heated in the microwave the only good thing was the macaroni salad they don't have a 2 piece halibut dinner it's 13.50 for just 1 piece of halibut the whole menu is over priced for the portions you get and the quality of food

We had this for dinner. It was very expensive. Order two large halbitut and One kids meal. It was very small portion not worth $50. The fries were so tasteless and the fish was all batter and grease. Never will eat there again and will not recommend this place to anyone.

For a seafood place, they make a great from scratch burgers are awesome. After working at Red Lobster during high school I can't do seafood any more. Rest of the gang had the halibut and chips small platter. Still had to take some home. Coleslaw is creamy and so is the rice pudding. Obviously lots of regulars there. Staff friendly and attentive.

We have had a few issues in the past few months. This last order will be our last order. It was terrible portions small and even lacking fish in the batter the fries were mush (not just cold but mush) Chicken fingers were puny and salmon two small pieces charred. I have tried to talk with the manager who tries to makes excuses and makes you feel like it’s your fault. I also just learned that the original owner has sold the business. This now makes total sense as the original owners would never have been this dismissive. We’ve been going there for over 45 years but won’t be returning.

We were passing through Barrie and went for fish and chips on recommendation of a friend. The restaurant has an old family restaurant feel to it. Service was very friendly. The best Fish and Chips in Barrie!!! I have tried 4 others and this place not only has the least greasy fry but the staff are amazing and feels like family. The price is a few dollars more but the portions size and thickness of the halibut is worth it. Long family owned history and the they still cut their halibut by hand every day. Great hand cut fries as well. I try to reduce my gluten and they can make the batter extra light as well. Will be back soon.

I ordered a large Halibut with fries around 1 pm. Take out. Service was fast. I returned to the office to eat. The halibut, which was very small, appeared over cooked and thin. I tried cutting through with a sharp knife and was unable to cut it. I scraped what I could from the fish and tasted it. It was not chew-able. Taste was horrible. Sorry but this is the second time I have ordered there and was not impressed the first time. But once is not a good test so I went back. Fool me once, shame on you, Fool me twice shame on me. They did offer to replace the order but by now my lunch break was over and I was not going to try for a third disappointment.

So I just ordered dinner from here to surprise my mother and she is very disappointed. She usually eats at other places and wanted to try somewhere new as she loves her traditional fish and chips dinner. I ordered the Haddock and Chips dinner. She was surprised to see that the dinner didnt even come with a lemon, side salad of any kind or coslaw and how SMALL the portion size is for the price. We did order through Uber Eats.

Used to be the greatest halibut and fries on the planet ...changed the fries recently to some kind of disgusting half burnt/half uncooked fry. Halibut dinner fantastic fish perfectly golden brown like you want it ! Light crispy superb! Super thick cut home fries also a perfect 10/10 Side of massive Jumbo shrimp also crazy good breaded to perfection. Only surprise was the tarter sauce in a pack. Maybe they ran out of homemade?

Definitely the best seafood restaurant I've ever experienced. The food is incredibly tasty, the staff are great (they make sure you're getting what you need/want without "hovering" ) and the atmosphere is pleasant. Usually I go there for dinner but recently decided to try having fish & chips delivered. It arrived in the condition I would have gotten had I been in the restaurant - beautiful crispy outside, fluffy & light inside and the chips weren't greasy at all. If you haven't been here you're missing out on a great place.

This is the 3rd Fish and Chips restaurant in Barrie that I've tried. I'll rank this one 2nd, but it's not far off from 1st. - I went for take-out around 6:10pm and the place was moderately busy - I didn't have to wait long to get my food. Maybe 15 minutes. - The price is slightly on the high end, but reasonable considering the large portion size. - The fish itself was cooked perfectly. Moist, tender meat, that was juicy and delicious. - The batter was nice and crunchy. Not too thick or thin, and not over oily. - The fries were ok. I've had better, but they weren't horrible by any means. - I will definitely go back to this place again.

Not as good as I was led to believe. Very friendly staff. Nice surroundings. Choice of several fish offerings. We chose halibut and chips , dinner size.5 Oz. fish vs. 3 Oz. Fish. Fish not bad but I have had a lot better in other barrie and innisfil places. The big problem in my estimation was chips were not fresh cut but rather frozen . Two people with two soft drinks : total bill $45.00 with tax plus tip. A very expensive dinner, for that money I would expect fresh cut fries. Other fish and chip restaurants in town serve fresh cut fries. Frozen is a deal breaker for me. Sorry!
