Doogans has been known to accept animals from mills. Their dogs are received from puppy mills so they often have health defects and a multitude of issues with them. They live in small cages and are in a miserable environment. Their rats are ALL feeders, even the ones on display as pet rats. They all come from mills and they all have issues with them. They put female and male rats in the same cage and they allow dead rats to be in the same cage as the alive ones. Avoid this place at all costs if you support the livelihood and health of animals.

Went into Doogan's to ask about seeing a puppy-- just moved into a new home with my partner and we were looking for a smaller dog. I didnt have an opportunity to say this to the staff, because after I asked about their rules on seeing the puppies I was rudely talked down to. I can only assume because of my age / how I was dressed (I'm 24, and I was wearing a nicer jacket and sweater) and told that they only show the puppies to people who are looking seriously. She gave me a look when she said it. I'm rating them a 2 because a past experience there was fantastic, but this one left a sour taste in my mouth. If you go in and you dont look like you are 35+ and wealthy, Im sure you will experience the same condicending tones and looks. Ontop of this the puppies are laying on metal slabs with no beds or blankets and only each other to lean on. This is not how you take care of animals. If youre interested in buying from them, by all means, but if not I would highly suggest a shelter or petsmart. Petsmart routinely has in kittens / puppies from shelters for better prices and they're taken care of much more humanely, if you are looking for younger animals.

I got my kitten from here and their service was fantastic. They made sure he was fully up to date with all his shots and the proper paperwork was given to us. We were told he was a rescue as he was found on a elderly woman's farm but there were no other details other than that. They also made sure we had the proper food for him so they he could transition from the one they were giving him to the food I had already had purchased for him ahead of the adoption. Overall the staff was very friendly and I couldn't ask for a better experience adopting my cat. Also they are very easy to contact through instagram as they are very active on there. Very happy to have gone to Doogan's Pet centre to get my best friend!

I recently went into Doogans because I was really early for an appoint upstairs, so I thought I might as well take a look at the selection of reptiles. I'm a reptile lover and I own 8 lizards. I also constantly like to know about the care of reptiles that I do not own, because I find it fascinating to learn about the different species and their care requirements. I go in and I check the reptiles. They only had two lizards available. A leopard gecko in a horrible set up, with no water. And a Uromastyx lizard. For those who don't know the care for them, they need a basking spot of around 115-120 Fahrenheit, they need it to be hot for them to thrive in Captivity. He was actually hiding from the heat source, when they do that, there is something wrong with the care, and the animal is sickly. They eat primarily seeds, so housing them on millet, and other seeds is more beneficial for them, because they can eat it and pass it through their digestive system. Where as sand causes impaction, which will lead to the animals death in a slow and painful manner. This Uromastyx was LITERALLY dying in the tank. It had it's mouth full of sand, it was barely moving around and he was emaciated and skinny, and couldn't even open his eyes.Like the leopard gecko, he too had no water or access to fresh greens. The water bowls were full of algea and they looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a year. They wanted $150 for it. $150?! For a sick animal that'd be better off euthanized than staying in that enclosure for another day? Spending $150 on an animal that would cost someone well over $3,000 to give it proper vet care, set up, and food. After seeing that, I put the lizard leash that I was about to buy back on the shelf, because I wasn't about to support such practices. I'm still contemplating calling the SPCA, so they can send an officer to see just how bad the conditions of the animals are in. You know your pet store has horrible care practices when a chain pet store is a better option for getting live animals from.

I brought my dog here for grooming. He’s a very nervous dog for grooming and had a previous bad experience at a different groomers. The ladies at doogans were amazing! Patient and so friendly!! I’ll definitely be back again! Great staff excellent customer service! My dogs cut looks awesome and they even gave him a bandana!

I bought frozen rats from here to feed my snake and it was horrible! It smelled rotten and fluids were leaking out from it. I usually buy from PetSmart and the rats I've thawed from there have never stunk or leaked fluids. I thought because it was cheaper there it'd be better, but I was wrong I guess. ????

It's a hate hate relationship. The staff here.. sucks, useless and really do not give a damn about the pets, the products or the customers. The environment is so poor for the animals but again this relates to the previous mention of the staff. I feel absolute sorrow when I imagine how the animals feel there. Most of the puppies they get in look so depressed sitting in a window. The fish wall.. just not even considered a fish wall it's just a bunch of fish that require certain care crammed into 10 gallon tanks with nothing but eachother to bump into. It's over priced, for the environment, the customer service, the quality of the product.. It's way too over priced. It's just an overall horrible store. If you don't have to go there.. then dont, there are SO many other stores and options out there to get you what you need!

My parents have been taking their four dogs to doogans for years now and I have added a new little addition to my family. As a new dog mom I wanted to be sure the nail cuttings were done well and didn’t hurt him. I called and not only did they pick up the phone right away ( unlike pet smart) but the girl there who was super sweet was quick at setting up an appointment and clearly cares a lot about the animals she sees. I will continue to come here for my grooming and nail cuttings and so should you! Thanks doogans :)

Called about CBD oil for cats. The lady over the phone told me they had it for dogs and it went by weight. I said that's fine my vet suggested CBD oil for my cats anxiety and her obsessive meowing she's start doing (most likely caused by her anxiety the vet said). So I said I'd be in to look at the ingredients cuz cat cbd oil goes by weight also.. Well, upon arrival I had to walk around the whole store (which I don't mind), couldn't find the product anywhere though and every single employee was trying to sell expensive mutts in the store. Like literally every single employee was too busy trying to sell overpriced mutt puppies that I waited standing in one spot for almost 45 minutes. Nobody offered to help and anytime I went to turn to an employee to ask them something they'd turn around and continue talking to the two groups of old people buying mutt puppies. After 45 minutes I walked out very disappointed with their customer service skills and empty handed. Never going here ever again.

Went there to buy a rabbit with our oldest daughter. The woman working was horrible. When the girls asked to see a rabbit to help decide which we were going to buy, she gave them a lecture about not petting them unless we where there to buy something. Even after we explained she just wanted to choose one she still never took any out to view. When she decided by looking though the glass at them, the woman with a very poor attitude began explaining to our daughter how much work it was going to be. How much care it takes. It almost sounded like she was trying to talk he out of it to be honest. Once we had paid she went to some freshly delivered packages, dumped out the products and put the rabbit in it. No real thought given by the company to transport animals home. We won't be retunring again.

I love Chloe the groomer. She loves all the doggies. She's gentle and caring with my labradoodle, Cali. They carry very good dog good that's never been on a recall. All the staff are friends. They carry all sorts of products for pets.

Please, please people, do not support this horrible pet store. Their animals come from deplorable puppy mills and backyard breeders. Too many people I know have purchased from them only to have their new pet unexpectedly die due to illness. Their puppies are not registered, parents receive no health checks, and when you try to ask them where the puppies come from, they refuse to give you any information. And if you insist of knowing where your new puppy comes from, they block and delete you or refuse to sell to you. Additionally, when anyone tries to comment to warn others of these practices, their comments are deleted and they are immediately blocked. These are the actions of someone who is guilty and trying to hide the truth from people. Please do not support the sale of animals through pet stores. If you are looking for a pet, please go to your local rescue or a reputable breeder. A truly reputable breeder will likely have you fill out a questionnaire, and will ask A LOT of questions as they want to ensure their babies are going to the best possible homes. Truly reputable breeders don't breed for money. They breed to better their lines, they breed for the health and temperament of the breed. And no reputable breeder would put in the time, money and effort required to raise a litter of puppies just to hand them over to a pet store. It is extremely heartbreaking to see pet stores still capitalizing on the sale of animals that more than likely came from a puppy mill that forces their dogs to get pregnant as often as possible in an effort to make as much money as possible. Puppy mills often breed numerous different breeds, and constantly pump out puppies that they sell to various pet stores. Do your research before supporting a pet store. And before you think, "I'll adopt this animal to save it.", you're only further supporting their business. Each animal adopted just means they're supplied with more in the future. We need to stop purchasing animals through pet stores period, and then maybe one day they will be forced to stop selling them all together!

Such a bad place for these puppies to start their lives. Living in a small crate with no bedding or anything for them to lay on, some have no toys, and are alone. Probably coming from cruel puppy mills, your money is being sent to that puppy mill for it to keep running and more dogs being stuck in a cruel space for their lives. I don’t even want to imagine how these puppies are treated by workers. Terrible.

Our 8 year old Brandi is a rescue dog which became part of our family over 5 years ago. Brandi has always been a skittish since before we got her due to being shot in the face and upper body with a shot gun. The only sign of this incident is she has missing one eye. We would like to express our thanks and appreciation to Chloe for giving Brandi an excellent grooming and bath. Absolutely Terrible disgusting place! Most of the animals they are selling have parasites. All of the puppies/dogs they are getting are from puppy mills (which are illegal and horrifying). Plus it’s also illegal now to even sell dogs or pups in a pet store.. This place should be shut down! Why would you want to support any of that by giving them your money! Just for them to keep doing these awful and harmful things to the poor animals!

Rude. The staff are very rude. They act like they know everything on every occasion I've been in the store. The only time they try to act nice to you is if they notice you are going to buy something. If you have any questions in regards to anything other than buying something they don't want to hear and in personal experience have been dismissive. Don't even try to inquire on when they will be receiving litters of cats or puppies, even if you are truly interested in buying an animal from them and are just asking they will shut you down unless you go to the store, and even then unless you're buying that day you're not getting any info. The only reason I would ever consider buying from this place is to take the animals out of the condition they're living in. Try some better customer service when people have genuine inquiries next time.

We bought our girls their first bunny yesterday at Doogans. Regrettably im terrible with names, however the lady there was incredibly informative and wonderful with our girls. She showed the girls how to hold the bunnies, care for it and litter train it. We will return for all our bunny needs. Highly recommended.

As for the two earlier reviews here , I find they lack any merit and is more political then a personal experience. Bottom line..Best place period for all pets and supplies and would highly recommend without any reservations!

Love this pet store. I come here for the crickets for my beardie Mango. Doogans crickets are the best. Very hardy and when you ask for large size, you get large sizes no joke. They sell the banded crickets. Very friendly and helpful staff members as well.

It seems that if you ask questions in regards to the parents of any pets they sell they will block you from commenting and delete your comment. I would never buy a pet from a pet store when they refuse to answer questions about the “breeder” or refuse to post pics of the parents. If you’re going to be paying $1000 for a dog you should at least get to see the parents and have registered paperwork for them.

Disgusting! they get their ferrets from marshals farms which is a horrible mill for ferrets and is well known for their terrible breeding environments! if you buy a ferret just know they will probably be sick. As for their puppies they also come from puppy mills. Ask them where they get their puppies from, they will tell you local breeders but they won't tell you the truth. Check a rescue before buying! My shelter has so many bunnies and small animals that come from this pet store because they didn't tell the people how to properly care for them and end up being dumped to the shelter. Stop the cycle and adopt don't shop!

Overheard a cashier giving recommendations as to what type of dog treats to give to dogs to a customer buying a new puppy from them. The cashier then told them not to purchase the "greasy" dog bones (the ones near the entrance of the store) as these aren't good for the dogs. WHY are they selling dog treats that they wouldn't recommend or are not healthy for dogs?

I was there past weekend, one guy was super nice, helping me with no issues. Some lady ( don't know if she was the owner or manager) interrupt it us while we were talking to him any basically told him to stop helping is and get back to his job. Me thinking she was going to keep helping us just walked away and didn't say a word to us... let's just say we left after that and will definitely not be going back... went to Global Pet Food down the street and they were super helpful. Please spend the extra few dollars and go to global pet foods instead.

So sad that animals are still being trapped in cages day and night especially the dogs. Made to stay in a small confined space with not even a dog bed. Recently went in and there were two lonely dogs in two separate cages. This is no way to raise puppies, they should be kept with their mother and socialized with their siblings until rehoming. Disgraceful.
