I ordered new moccasins for my mother (90 yrs old) as she has worn out her last pair. She wears them everyday as they are the only comfort she finds in shoes. Her feet and ankles are swollen and very painful so walking is a challenge. Her moccasins are a Godsend plain and simple. Mom wanted the exact pair however they arrived and are too small as her feet have changed with her age issues. So I ordered another pair in a larger size. Here is the AMAZING THING - I got a call from the store - from a Karen wanting to know if there was a problem as they noticed I had ordered another pair. WHO DOES THAT? I was shocked - there is a place in heaven for a person and the company that cares enough about their customer and their business to do a personal follow up on customer satisfaction. This is a lost art and others should take a lesson from this company's play book. At the very least as a consumer you should not hesitate or be concerned about placing an order with these folks as they are not the company that won't respond or care. For example I ordered something last Feb with a company and I have seen no product and get zero response when I follow up - I've been taken. This however feels so much better a company that cares about their client and reputation. I thank you and felt it my responsibility to share such an amazing experience!!! The best to all in 2021!

An ok place but they sell lots of junk from China which was confirmed by one of the store clerks. There are some original native crafts for sale but my opinion is that if you want something original then go to a reserve an talk to the locals there. Usually there you'll get a better deal and all the money goes to them.

Obligatory visit when you come to Banff. Support a local small business. And I was surprised to find out, they actually use Native artisans for a lot of their items. We bought two beaded belts and they gave us the artisan information. The staff are super friendly. And there are non Native items here too if you like trinkets and touristy stuff like shirts and things. There's a park right down the way that is great for picnics.

I loved this store when I lived in Banff, even just going to look around and hang out sometimes, bought my toques, mitts, mukluks there... now I moved back to Eastern Canada after a few years in Europe and when I started looking for winter boots, nothing would make me as happy as the mukluks from the Banff Indian Trading post. I ordered them online and Karen was just awesome to deal with. They made sure I got the exact right size by measuring our feet and getting someone in Banff with the same size foot to test things out... My feet are so, so, so happy to be back in these mukluks this winter. <3 thank you!!!

I've shopped here for almost 10 years, but recently I was sold baby moccasins made by a local for $49.99 that were very evidently previously worn. I contacted management via e-mail--not to seek a refund or exchange--simply, to let them know it had happened. I received no response or explanation. Very disappointed and unlikely to return at this point. The hand-crafted merchandise was a huge draw for me for gifts over the years, but I feel uncomfortable shopping here knowing the artists aren't being paid for merchandise that is sold again and again.

After literally 6 COVID tests (3 each for my husband and I, once 14 days prior to arrival date, once 72 hours prior to arrival date, and once immediately after crossing the border), we were finally able to visit Banff from Montana. With ALL the negative COVID test results we were probably literally the safest humans on the planet when we visited this store. My husband had forgotten his mask when walked into the store, and a lady working in the store yelled at him and rudely demanded him to get out of the store. We've not only been carrying vaccination cards everywhere but also our SIX negative COVID test results and we've been doing our best to respect the Canadian regulations surrounding COVID. I get that people can be a bit freaked out about the outbreak, but honestly was the rude manner necessary (especially if you're running a business...)?? If she had asked nicely, we'd gladly return to get his mask and came back to the store. But since that was the attitude thrown at him we immediately walked out and never went back again, and I do not recommend anyone to visit this store either unless you want to be treated rudely by disrespectful store keeper with COVID phobia.

I placed an order online (in mid November) for a pair of moccasins to give to my father for Xmas this year. The next day a lady called to tell me that the size I wanted is out of stock, but they should be receiving a shipment from their supplier shortly. I told her that they are a gift for my father and she assured me that they would definitely be able to get them to me with plenty of time to spare. After not hearing back from them for 14 days I e-mailed them to inquire about the order. After not receiving an e-mail response I ended up calling them a few days later. The lady I talked to said that the shipment that they received did not include the size I needed, and that she didn't expect them to be receiving any more shipments from the manufacturer before Xmas. Obviously, that means that I have to look somewhere else for his gift, and it is only a couple of weeks until away.. What a gong show!

Unlike any store I have ever been in. The inventory is amazing. All sorts of crafty items to furs and pelts. A lot of taxidermied animals and fish, including a full size bear. While this store won't be for everyone, it is like stepping back into a different time. I loved it.

Also a good selection of t-shirts (The Mountain) on offer. You can browse for hours. Prices are ok and fair too. A bit away from the center just 5 minutes walk across the bridge. There also a nice photo point on the Bow River. (Original) Laden führt auch die typischen Kanada-Souvenirs, hat aber vor allem authentische, indianische Handarbeit im Angebot. (Indianer-Laden). Den Laden gibt es schon sehr lange und ist wirklich sehr urtümlich und rustikal eingerichtet mit ausgestopften Tieren an der Wand, Blockhütte. Wirklich tolle und besondere Sachen im Angebot. Auch gute Auswahl an T-Shirts (The Mountain) im Angebot. Man kann stundenlang stöbern. Preise sind auch ok und fair. Etwas abseits vom Zentrum nur 5 Gehminuten entfernt über die Brücke. Dort auch schöner Fotopoint auf den Bow River.

After searching all over for a pair of Laurentian Chief mukluks, I found a pair at the Banff Indian Trading Post. I got the most amazing customer service and they were so helpful! I even had a special surprise when my order arrived.. A mini dream catcher in my favorite color, no less. It also included a personal, handwritten thank you! I have been wearing Laurentian Chief slippers and mukluks for over 30 years now... And they are the best! Comfort, warmth and workmanship! I do find it a little comical though... Laurentian Chief products are made in Quebec. I live about 3 hrs from there, but I found what I wanted all the way across the country! Thank you Banff Indian Trading Post for your wonderful service! One day I will visit Banff again, and I will be sure to visit your store!!

Beautiful trading post. I always love to see Indigenous goods and support the locally made or at least Canadian made goods. This place has lost of furs and animals all over the inside of the building. As good as a museum. The staff are freindly and knowledgeable of the goods. Prices are fair. BIPOC DO NOT COME HERE. NOT SAFE! Only friendly to white people. I heard they support Indigenous artists but as soon as I walked through the door, I was met with cold shoulder and ignored when I asked for help. They also price things super low, so they either take advantage of Indigenous people or they buy from China. They also sell medicines... Which is a big no-no in Indigenous culture. And when I tried to have conversation, to ask where they got it. They asked me to leave the store. I didn't raise my voice or anything. Either way, this place is not a place to support if you're BIPOC.

I went in to have a look at the Merman, the atmosphere was ok, very busy but the staff seem miserable and I was almost given a heart attack by an old lady on the counter screaming across the shop at a young girl after she had asked her to get the price for a hat, all of the customers stopped and looked in shock. I spoke to the poor girl after as she was mortified and it turns out it was only her first day there! I won’t go there again purely for this reason, terrible.
