This Fish Shop belongs to the category of Restaurant.
Ordered fish and chips. For a restaurant right on the water they really served some bland fish. Sad when the frozen fries have more flavour then the frozen fish. But if you like more water then dressing on your coleslaw this is the place to go. Way to pricey for the generic food they serve.
Such a disappointing stop. We paid over $80 for two fish and chips, and two kids meals. Waitress didn't mention chocolate milk wasn't included in the kids meals when we ordered - an extra $8 for two small ch milk. Fish was a soggy deep fry, fries were few and far between (but good) and the hamburger bun was cold as could be without being frozen. Our waitress was cranky and the restaurant was dated. Save your money and drive a few Kms down the road to Baddeck for some good food. Very disappointed with this place.
Terrible customer service. Not indicative of the Maritime hospitality you expect in Cape Breton. Shame
Typical east coast tourist trap. Rip off. Go elsewhere
Incredible food. Staff was very friendly. Lobster was some of the best i have had.
place is outdated and stinks, Food was small portions and way over priced for how average it tasted! I paid 4.00$ for a chocolate milk that was just white milk with powder in it it was disgusting!! For 4$ I'd expect to get really chocolate milk!! DO NOT EAT HERE!
Very bad customer service
Good restaurant on the route with amazing view.
Great staff, helpful and friendly. The view of St . Ann's Harbour was amazing. We sat at the back by the window. The Clam Chowder was amazing if not a little expensive at $15. Great for a stop-over after a tour of the Harbour or even the Cabot Trail.
The location is awesome, but the food is average
Fish and chips lunch. Batter is light and crisp. . The fries are real fries. The frozen kind. Its a nice change. The building is a bit chilly this sept day. The sun is shining and there is a locvely view of the water.
80$ for a medium size lobster ???? not right! Beautiful view!
Good food and service
Really friendly staff, had a great lobster Dinner
Loved it!
Best Lobster! great staff. nice view!
Lobster was undercooked. Probs were small. Meals were expensive. The place wasn't bad. It just wasn't really that good.
Great food & Service
Luncheon VIEW WERE EXCELLANT
Ate hear at the end of the season. The menu was slim and the food was OK. Service was very nice!
(Translated) Nice restaurant. Eaten lobster for the first time. Delicious. The placemat tells you exactly how to slaughter them???? (Original) Leuk restaurant. Voor de eerste keer kreeft gegeten. Heerlijk. Op de placemat staat precies hoe je ze moet slachten????
Only the most freshest lobster we’d ever had. The Lobster Chowder and Fish and Chips were also so delicious. In fact, your meal would not be complete without the Lobster Corn Chowder. The location is great too and has the most stunning view. Kathy was taking care of us and was truly a delight. I can’t wait to go back here again.
Came in and asked for a seat outside which they have and was told they dont serve outside. We wanted to sit outside due to our small dog (older dog that is calm and well behaved so she was not the reason for rudeness). There's a lot of other options on the Cabot trail and I'm sure you'd get better service at any other place. They were not accomodating or helpful. Very disappointed. Wouldn't want to spend my money there.
Very good food, great service, a lovely waterfront view of the ocean inlet to the North.

First and last... have been around the food service industry for nearly 40 years. Have driven past this place for most of my life on a weekly basis. Have often heard stories, some bad, and of course, some good. Decided to give it a try before continuing on our drive. Ordered 2 piece fish and fries. At $17.99 I figured the serving would be beyond most places. Wish I had taken a photo now. Anyway, the fish I have to say was delicious. The portions were atrocious. The two piece fish was actually one regular portion at another normal restaurant, but not here they cut the single serving in half and made it a 2 piece. Throw in a very small handful of fries and you still leave, with an almost empty stomach. But $17.99, come on people. You folks need to step it up a notch. You Can't compete if you're not in the contest.!! The restaurant was pretty much empty, in the middle of a hot summer day, with loads of traffic going by.??, that should be your first clue, that something we're doing isn't right or isn't working. Staff were doing their best. Hard to work and put out quality and consistency, when operators are penny pinching and don't realize they are only hurting their business !!!
Good bagels
(Translated) Good tasty food ... (Original) Gutes leckeres Essen...
Awesome staff. Good food. Bit pricey but seems to be the rule in this area
Overpriced average. Very basic food for such a fantastic area especially just finishing up a fantastic experience around the Cabot Trail. Genuinely cute view for only a handful of tables and the interior is dark. Definitely missed opportunities to make food more authentic and add a nice cap to this holiday weekend. Basic heavy beer batter, pre- packaged tarter sauce, straight cut unseasoned fries, old menus, too quiet almost bored atmosphere. 40$ for two dinners and waters. 30y.o couple
Awful noisy music ruined evening, and they would not change it. Will not return.
excellent service, excellent meal
Loved it!!!!!
The food here was reasonable, though the lobster was definitely overpriced and using the captive audience of the cabot trail to keep clientele - $50 for a lobster! The service left a bit to be desired as I think our waitress went on break whilst we were in the middle of our meal and none of the other servers seemed bothered about helping. Still, a good meal was enjoyed by both of us.
This place has some of the best food in the area. You can find lobster anywhere, but great lobster can be found only here.
Great food, fabulous food and a beautiful view
Loved my food and even better German apple cake. Nice view of the bay too.
(Translated) Here you pay for the view. The food is completely overpriced (Original) Hier zahlt man den Ausblick. Das Essen ist völlig überteuert
Travelers - stopped in on our drive through the Cabot trail for a lobster roll. The flavour and pieces of lobster were amazing, large whole chunks, not too much sauce, simple hotdog style bun. all was well for the taste buds. Though, $29 for lobster roll and fries seemed steep for me, but then again I am unaware of local prices for lobster and this could be more than fair (open to comments to correct me please). Service was great, super friendly and accommodating. We took our rolls & fries to go with a beer and had them on their two Adirondack chairs outside facing the water, lovely. Overall, would recommend, will return.
Service:subpar Food: subpar portion size: small price: $47.10 (2 adult entrees, kids meal, waters) see photos chicken club and fries: it came on a hamburger bun with a processed cheese slice and other fresh toppings asked to substitute side from fries to cesar salad. request was denied. (cesar salad was available to add as a side for $5 but not as an option or substitute.) kids chicken nuggets and fries I hear the seafood is good here.
Tiny shop with barely anything in it .Nice well kept property but waste of a stop for sure.
Asked to go to the washroom and the old man rudely said no only customers even though we were going to get something after.
I was excited
Great food
Nice place, good food, staff is really friendly. Ordered medium steak with the surf-n-turf and got it well done. Overall good food, but I can cook a better steak. Quite pricy Nice view
“Amazing” sweet potato fries and sp. the curry that comes with it! I have never had a curry like this with fries. They did not have much vegetarian options in the menu. Obviously because its mainly serving sea food, and there were no options around here when you start Cabot trail drive. Being a vegetarian I look for food that I can enjoy. By the way, the store manager was very nice to arrange tomato soup and what a soup it was! Delicious! The view outside the window was so calming! If you are a vegetarian, you must try the sweet potato fries and tomato soup here. Potato fries were ok. They also had a gift area in the same place, It was very expensive.
Great place for dinner
Good food at a reasonable price. Good options even for those who eschew seafood. Great selection of single malts. Very convenient to the Gaelic College.
Great food, fast and friendly service.
Food was great! Lobster of course. The chowder was good too. Our server was wonderful and the view fantastic. You can't get any better than this.
Overpriced and mediocre food.
Terrible coffee but the food seemed nice. The restaurant really seemed like an establishment that began with big dreams that eventually faded out.
Beautiful view right on the water! Delicious food. Friendly staff! Hope to return when visiting Nova Scotia again. ❤
It was our first time to travel to Nova Scotia and been travelling by car from Toronto to the beautiful east coast last summer. We stopped over to try their lobster here before heading to Cabot Trail. And it is the best and freshest lobster that we ever had! I love the beautiful and serene view of the water while eating! The staff are friendly and helpful as well. We will definitely come back here for sure!
Splendid view whilst enjoying a coffee
Lobster, Fish and Chips, Desserts, the VIEW! It's located ON the water (well, close enough...) I proposed to my now wife not far from here, in Baddeck. The day after that, the day before we left for home in the southwest US, her grandparents (and hosts of our trip here) treated us to a feast at The Lobster Gallery. This was our first time trying lobster and fresh oysters, so we were nervous. However, the owners took care of us and even let us pick our dinner from the tanks. Needless to say, the BEST lobster dinner I have had! Loved the coleslaw, and the fish and chips, lobster rolls and clam chowder were great as well. Neat stop to check out in this few and far between place to eat on part Cape Breton.
Good place to stop for lunch
The Lobster Galley is a diner. Keep that in mind when you go, and you'll have a good time. The view of the water is great, and the staff were more than friendly. Food is a bit pricey for what it is. Cute little shop inside with tons of Cape Breton trinkets to keep you entertained.
We had a seafood linguini in marinara sauce and it was fantastic. Bountiful portions with a lit of lobster, mussels, prawns and scallops all cooked to perfection. And served with garlic bread by friendly start with prompt service whilst looking out over the beautiful lake view. What more could you ask for.
Omg all I can say is DELICIOUS no lie I had the halabrt and shrimp sauce with mashed potatoes and it was the best meal I've ever had I will definitely be back again soon
Decent food. Great view.
Great staff, great food, great atmosphere, great location. Loved everything about it.
Beautiful view. Wi-Fi. Good food.
For years we've always drove by and never stopped in , but recently we decided to and omg the fish&chips were delicious ????????
A wonderful place serving fresh deliciously lobster in a nice quaint atmosphere. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
Quiet restaurant, pleasant waitresses and a very good vegetarian wrap. Would definitely go back.
Beautiful views and friendly staff, but you can get better food in the area. Definitely a tourist trap type place.
Food was way over priced. Our Mussels where not ccoked half of them where slimmy. We asked for garlic butter which it says on menu they said it was in with the mussels already.. ? Asked for Ceaser Salad which is also on menu as a side. We where told only if we got fish cakes...? The pasta seafood was just maccaroni no seafood in it French fries hard and dry. Not impressed at all!! Will never go back
Food was fair and service was fair.
My fiance and I just finished eating a takeout dinner from the lobster gallery and I would have gave this place 0 stars if I could. We ordered two fish and chip plates with one extra piece of fish , a bowl of chowder and garlic bread with cheese. So for $71 dollars we received on 3 piece fish and chips that consisted of about 20 soggy pre frozen French fries and 3 small bland soggy pre frozen pieces of fish ( the extra piece of fish cost $8 at that) and a small container of coleslaw that had a lemon wedge on top to make sure you don't get to much slaw (there were two mouthfuls of slaw if you are wondering) all for nearly $30!!!! The two piece was the same but cost only $16 lol and soggy also. The chowder wasn't bad but you get about a half cup for $15 and the garlic bread with cheese was 8 dollars and was terrible. This place is praying on out of providing ce tourists and you should avoid at all costs. We are from Halifax and can tell you this is not a good represent tation of our seafood and the price is boderline criminal!!!
Not very good service. The waitress was very short with her answers and found it a chore to split the bill. Although the food was okay it was over priced for the quality especially compared to the other restaurants in the area.
The only thing we can say was good about this place was the server. She was very sweet and very helpful. the food however was extremely highly priced for what you got and everything was pretty tasteless.
Nice little shop / restaurant with a great friendly staff. Don't pass this place!
They had just reopened for the season, and we were stopping for a quick coffee. The server was so incredibly nice and helpful.
the best view of St Annes bay great fish tacos
Chowder was delicious but filling... you have to try it
We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. We had not looked up the location, but had found it when driving to the Cabot Trail. The food was excellent and servers were very friendly. Reasonably priced and clean.
Very good seafood and lobster place.
Good basic seafood. The homemade lemonade was really tart! Wait staff is slow and inattentive.
3 stars for the super friendly staff and ok food, but way overpriced for what it is. There are not much restaurants around the area so it does the trick if you are hungry but the bill gets high quickly.
Good place to stop for the bathroom and ice cream!!!!!
Don’t go here if you’re hungry. Tried to eat here but they ignored us and wouldn’t take our order.
Very good seafood chowder
Very pricey for what you get
What a quaint little Eatery. Food was pretty decent as well, a little expensive but casual dress.
Overpriced and the portions are tiny. Service is ok
Great food, the seafood linguini and the shrimp zuccini marinara pasta was very good. Didn't realize try the whole lobster others tried, but all in all very good food. It's not cheap but not expensive. Beautiful view as well
Cute little gift shop we came across our travels. Beautiful views, friendly staff. Purchased some local wine.
(Translated) Our waitress was very friendly, the food was good but not wow. (Original) Notre serveuse était très sympathique, la nourriture était bonne mais pas wow.
Food was amazing! Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming! View from the lower level seating area is breathtaking. Great way to end your trek from the Cabot Trail!
I went ina round noon and ordered a whole lobster meal... I did not pick my lobster from the tank as promised, they just brought it to the table and 1 hour later, it all came backbupnwoth food poisoning... I'm guessing it was led rover from the day before. Very disappointing.
Went here for an early dinner, ordered myself a caesar salad & 1lb mussels. The salad was fine, not great, but whatever. I think I ate about 7 mussels before returning them to the kitchen; none of the beards had been removed and they were all full of grit. My server and another who overheard my complaint did not seem surprised whatsoever. I also heard a third server selling mussels to a different table as I was leaving so I don't think they care that their food is subpar. The mussels were removed from my bill, so I guess I'm supposed to be grateful, but I'm also still hungry. I leave 3 stars because my son had a great time. He ordered a hot dog, and upgraded to sweet potatoes & I let him get an ice cream sundae because I didn't want to dampen his experience.
Seems like a nice place, found it a little pricy and you need to buy something to use the restroom . It was ok
(Translated) Really the place has memories and so much more and the prices are really affordable I was really surprised (Original) Vraiment la place a souvenirs et tellement plus et les prix sont vraiment abordables J'ai été vraiment surprise
Good food. Great staff
Beautiful deck for outdoor dining, by the water!
Pathetic, Not At All Child and Family friendly space. The lady attendant started screaming at kids who were choosing gifts. Not suggest anyone to be around this place
???????????? Sooooo good! You gotta eat here!!! ????????????
Medium steak does not look like shoe leather. The waitress barely acknowledged my husband. Very rude. Nice view of the water through.
don't waste time here they are the only place around and it reflects in the plates and the horrible service
Taste good but overpriced
VERY very bad costumer service!! We ordered take out and we’re charged $7 for a count of 5 onion rings and when I asked the lady .. got a reply that’s all you get! the overall attitude of the staff was soo rude and poor!
Perfect little spot to grab a bite at before starting the Cabot trail. They also sell lobster or you can pick your own for dinner!
Such a great experience! Our server, Daphne, was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and fresh, and the view was magnificent!
Soooooo good. Got to tour the tanks
Because of my difficult dietary problems,it's not a place for me but usually good food.
very Pricey Lobster but it seems like at the moment prices have gone though the roof . With a pop , Caesar's salad and lobster cost 108$ . However very tasty
My wife and i went to CB for a trip from Halifax 2 weeks ago and planned to eat local to support small businesses while we stayed up there. we saw this place online and made plans to eat here. the building itself is very nice and how i would expect a seafood place to look with a great view of the water and lots of fishing nick-nacks. We order 1 piece fish and chips each and the portion size was about the size of a kids meal. This fish was not freshly caught. The fries were frozen fries from a freezer bag, not Fresh-cuts. The Mussels were okay. for the 2 of us it was about 50$ and we left hungry. They had no Scallops Lobster or shrimp either which was very disappointing. I've ate better Fish and chips on the Navy ships and they have to feed 200+ of us within an hour. save your money and drive to Baddeck for more variety.
'Catch of the day' was excellent but the garden salad was just Lettuce with nothing else and for around $9 !! I didn't know Lettuce was that expensive !
Nasty owner came out and yelled at me as I was parking. Bland tasteless food. Avoid at ALL COST!
Nice food great views
Fish and chips were delicious, but Rhubarb cake with brown sugar and butter sauce was divine. Great meal. Very friendly staff. Top notch experience.
Tasty food and nice service. Will be back for sure.
(Translated) The waiters are friendly, the meals are delicious, and the dining environment is beautiful. (Original) 服务员亲切友好,饭菜可口,用餐环境很美。
Nice
Stopped here after a day up and down the east side of Cabot Trail. The one star is too high it should be a zero. This is definitely a place that cries out "eat somewhere else" in this case "anywhere else!!!!!!!!!!!"
Great food , awesome and friendly service !! A must stop if you are passing by !
Great food and service!
We took a couple young kids to dinner and the waitress was amazing with them. The lobster was delicious and a fair price and the view was great. The kids enjoyed their meals and ice cream and even got to see the lobster tanks after dinner. I would definitely recommend eating here.
Fish and chips were good. Salmon special wasn't great and rice was dry. Service was good.
Sitting in the corner, tasting the 1.5 pound lobster, watching the scenic view, wow!
THIS PLACE IS HORREDOUS. THIS SCREAMS "EAT ANYWHERE ELSE" Ate here on Vacation, About 1 Week Ago. THE LOBSTER (AND JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE) IS OVERPRICED. The Burgers Were Burnt. They Got Sent Back And They Were - Guess What? BURNT. The Fries Were "Don`t Eat Me Fries" As I Call Them. The Fish Cakes Are.... So-So... The Caeser Salad Is Horrendus....NOT EVEN FRESH LETTUCE, AND BOTTLED DRESSING, ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. The Place Isn't Fully Clean, And Considering The Price Of The Food And Final Food Quality....The Item Most Worth Your Money IS the PEPPERMINT CANDIES THEY GIVE YOU AT CASH. NEXT TIME YOU GO ON THE CABOT TRAIL, I RECOMMEND NOT EVEN THINKING ABOUT THIS PLACE, GO BY THE PLACE AND GET IT OUT OF YOUR HEAD TO EAT THERE. EVERYTHING SCREAMS STAY AWAY FROM HERE. THE ONLY GOOD THINGS ARE THE VIEW, AND THE PEPPERMINTS AT CASH
Friendly staff, very accommodating. The backyard style patio on the water was unique and had an incredible view. Great place to stop for a meal when driving Cabot Trail.
(Translated) A tourist trap! We wanted to find THE restaurant that could meet all the expectations we had for seafood, lobsters etc ... finally we are very disappointed! The price is not worth the portion and the quality of the food. Good service though. The view is beautiful but not worth the trip.
Oh my goodness this place was horrible! The only thing worth it is the view. SO overpriced, tiny portions, bland food, bad customer service. My slice of lemon was wider than the fish cake (which tasted horribly). My salad was dried out and full of lettuce ends. It's a tourist trap. Worst place I ate at on the whole island.
We ordered food for my daughter and I went to use the washroom. They told me I could not use the washroom and asked me to leave. I asked to make a complaint and the waitress kept interrupting me and calling me a liar. Worst service I ever had in the maritimes.
Great food
(Translated) Very ordinary Lobster Roll but above all very poor in lobster accompanied by a few (max 12) small fries. Much overpriced ($ 23) for the quality and quantity. (Original) Lobster Roll bien ordinaire mais surtout bien pauvre en homard accompagné de quelques ( max 12) petites frites. Beaucoup trop cher ( 23$) pour la qualité et la quantité.
HORRIBLE SERVICE
Great lunch.
Beautiful view, friendly staff and the waitress pointed out two bald eagles which was amazing to see. I had the fish and chips and it was good.
What an AMAZING experience! We ordered the lobster corn chowder, fish and chips and fresh lobster dinner. The food was incredibly fresh and flavourful! The service was EXCELLENT! Our server Kathy even tied our napkins around our necks for the lobster feast! Would go back in a heartbeat! Highly recommend! The restaurant is right on the water with a beautiful view....just amazing. Thank you Kathy for taking such good care of us!
Water front
Not stellar portions or quality. Got fish and chips and some mussels and expected better for the price. Frozen french fries, pre made coleslaw, and packaged tartar sauce aren't great additions for a restaurant specializing in seafood and lobster. Haddock itself was alright though.
Food good and staff very friendly
Chowder is great! Desserts too.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Helpful staff. We enjoyed our visit.
The best lobster there, and ask local white wine. Very clean small restaurant!
(Translated) Beautiful setting, warm welcome. Friendly cuisine (Original) Beau cadre, accueil chaleureux. Cuisine sympathique
Food was delicious
Chowder and biscuit is very very good and certainly makes up for the tasteless fish and previously frozen fries. Coleslaw was AWFUL...very little taste to go it the fork full they give you. Fish portion was ok but wouldn't work for a someone with a manly appetite. Highly recommend for the chowder thiugh
Pathetic customer service!! My kids were looking to buy souvenirs at the gift shop, when the lady started yelling at them and told them to get money from parents and buy it as they have picked the items. Can't believe the rudeness of the staff towards the kids who were excited to just buy gifts....and when confronted, we were asked to leave as we are causing trouble. Nevertheless we got the souvenirs from the next gift shop, but it was very difficult for me to explain my small kids who kept asking why that lady was rude and mean to them..
Another great lobster dinner at the Lobster Galley. We were celebrating a couple of occasions and couldn't think of any better restaurant to do it. The lobster was delicious and the berry crisp for dessert was so yummy. Thank you again.
So overpriced 4 onion rings for 7 $ watery hot chocolate and the main thing behaviour of the crew really bad
Only thing fresh here is the lobster and it's way over priced Staff are lacking and the place is dated there is better choices in the area
Nice food with beautiful views!
I gave 5 stars originally. But after reading other ppls stupid reviews I figured I would comment. Staff was great! View was great. No a lobster is not $50. More like 2 meals for that price. Best lobster we had in our life. We actually were taught how to eat it. Also not trying to state the obvious here but the place is called "lobster galley"... any complaints I've seen is cause ppl ordered items that you wouldn't normally order at a place along the ocean called "lobster galley". Love to stop by again in the future when we make our way out east ????
Good lobster and salmon cooking. Appropriate seasoning and cooking time for seafood. Good view. Pretty restaurant.
Beautiful scenery
I was driving on the Cabot Trail on the 20th May when my wife Nancy and I spotted this beatifully located restaurant...we were at their door at noon and were informed that the day was opening day and to return at 3pm when operations (lobsters/ freshseafood) would commence for the season. We went a few kilometers higher and came across a delightful cafe"THE CLUCKING HEN" and after a sample bought their entire stock of fresh baked butter tarts....to die for stuff. We returned to Lobster Galley and were the delighted consumers of THE BEST LOBSTER DINNER WE HAVE EVER HAD ANYWHERE LOBSTERS ARE HARVESTED. THESE CAPE BRETON CRUSTACEANS ARE IN A CLASS OF THEIR OWN. THE RESTAURANT SERVED PRIOR TO THE LOBSTER COURSE CLAMS ...PLUMP & SUCCULENT, FISH CAKES AND AWESOME SEAFOOD LINGUINI AND BEING A GLUTTONOUS PAIR WE ALSO HAD THE ZUCCHINI (SLICED AKA SPHAGETTI) WITH SHRIMPS IN A CREAM SAUCE. THIS WAS OUR FIRST TRIP. AND IT WILL DEFINITELY NOT BE OUR LAST. IF ANYONE LIKES OR CONSIDERS THEMSELF A SEAFOOD AFFICINADO DO NOT...REPEAT DO NOT MISS GOING TO THIS PLACE EVEN IF YOU JUST GO TO THIS ONE SPOT...!!!!
We had pick your own size lobster. One of the few places near Baddeck where we could find lobsters that were more than the typical 1.25 lb lobsters. Pricing is reasonable. $28 for a 1.25 lb, $46 for the 2 lb. ($6 per 1/4 lb more than the base $28). Courtney was friendly and efficient. Had a great view of St. Ann's Bay.
(Translated) Very friendly staff and delicious food. The view from the restaurant is beautiful. (Original) Sehr freundliches Personal und leckeres Essen. Die Aussicht vom Restaurant ist wunderschön.
I ordered a lobster roll to go. It was my first time eating one. It was good and came with fresh cut shoestring fries. 20.18
Great view of the bay and convenient location for those on the Cabot Trail. Food good and service excellent. Has a store and live lobster tanks.
it is worth to come here to have a lobster dinner. Yummy and fresh very much
What a disappointment this place was. This is not even worthy of 1 star. After travelling the Cabot Trail all day we were excited to eat here. We read a glowing review in the Scenic Cape Breton tourist paper. The person who wrote the article obviously they have never ate there! The fish was definitely not fresh, it was over cooked, a very small portion and definitely over priced. This is a typical tourist trap.
