Nice people for sure, but outrageous prices and not great food make Joey's a much better, cheaper meal. No atmosphere. My one and last visit left me feeling ripped off. When senior citizens open a new business, there is no time to provide value, service and quality for a fair price. They must pay everything off and make all they can while they can physically handle the work.

Whitbies is enjoying a bit of viral social media fame and still going strong! Great service, clean facility and delicious food. The fish and chips were crispy and tasted fresh and the mushy peas and coleslaw are delicious. I found portion sizes to be adequate and filling! The owner is so friendly and kind! They also carry an array of British products for sale. :) Gems like this place make it easy to support local businesses.

As a Brit who’s lived in Lethbridge for 8 years it’s nice to finally have access to top quality Fish n Chips. I’ve tried the place before on a couple of occasions and it was so-so. Heard they were under new management so decided to give it another chance. Ordered the haddock and chips (with scraps of course). Have to say, very pleasantly surprised. I wasn’t expecting such good quality. Immediately phoned everyone I know to give them the good news. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. And the reviewer that gave it 2 stars but gave Joey’s 3 stars obviously wouldn’t know good fish n chips if they fell over them! Definitely going back, again & again & again......

Not British-style chips at all, perhaps they're trying to emulate Dutch ones? Uniform thickness, but skinny fries, not the fat, crispy-but-soft chips that soak up vinegar that I was expecting. The fish, even when you order a single piece comes as two small, rectangular pieces, so too much batter for the amount of fish. I hate sachets of vinegar, ketchup and salt, but that might be a COVID response thing. My sausages in batter were okay. Not great and not a patch on what you would be served in the UK, but as this is the only place I know of in Canada that serves them, they still filled a hole in my tummy and heart! I wouldn't come back here myself and if you're looking for authentic British fish and chips, this isn't for you either.

The food is fantastic and the service is very quick too! They have a selection of British and Scottish food products that you can buy both frozen and packaged. If I had one complaint about Whitbie's it's that there isn't a lot of space to eat in, but if great fish and chips takeout is what you're after there's no better place.

We are from Glasgow, Scotland. We've been in Canada over 30 years and the fish n chips and black pudding n chips here are the best we've had since coming to Canada. The service was awesome with very friendly staff. Location was a bit tricky to find but well worth looking for. Lucky people living in Lethbridge to have this gem on your doorstep.

I really enjoyed my experience here a few weeks ago! I'm from New Zealand and Fish and Chips is a staple so was very excited to find an authentic fish and chip shop here. The English owner was super friendly and helped us figure out how much to purchase for the number of people we had. He asked if we'd ever had curry with our chips. I said it's not something that we do in New Zealand. He popped some curry in a small separate container for us to try for free - we found it when we arrived home and thought it was a really thoughtful touch. We really enjoyed our meal, and pretty good price too. We will DEFINITELY be going back. :)

One of the best places in town for fish and chips. 2 years have pass, the owners change but the quality is still very good, the only problem I had before was the fish was a bit oily well that changed, the fish is not oily, nice crisp on the outside the fries are good and well seasoned, I'm going to change from 4 stars to 5 stars, highly recommended! Congrats to the new owners!

Upon entrance we were greeting by a very nice young man who seated us, the costumer service was amazing and although we didn’t have the fish we all had the chicken strips, very well seasoned and fresh, all the food was fresh and very tasty. Definitely would and will come back again.

Delicious fish at an outrageous price. I paid 27 dollars for 2 tiny pieces of halibut and chips with a bottle of pepsi. It was like I got 6 potatoes and my one piece of fish was cut in half to make two. I wonder if their dine in customers get better value. Big rip off will not return which is a shame because the fish really is good.

Last night we went here to eat a good fish meal as it was our first time we were told that is was good food. Well it was quite the contrary. It was new owners and the food was horrible. It was nothing but greasy unfresh fish and for the price it was definately not woryh it. If you are looking for a good fish and chips dish this is not the place to go.

Went to this place only because the restaurant beside it was closed. Best decision ever! The staff were terrific and so genuine! Not to mention genrous. They gave great recommendations for what to order, and they did not disappoint! Everything tasted wonderful --the fish, the chips, the side dish, the tartar sauce-- mmmm *chef kiss* delicious. The portions were generous. We had to ask for takeout boxes. Would definitely be coming back ❤. I recommend that you try out their Haddock and chips.

Definitely nothing like English fish n chips. Fish tasted old and frozen. Chucked half of it out. The only positives were the Frikandel and the battered sausage wasn't bad but way over cooked. Needed iron teeth to eat half the batter. Chips not bad but taste like old oil......There's NO difference between their fish and chips and every other restaurants.

This place is absolutely fantastic. The first thing that hits you is the smell; it smells like amazing fish being cooked to perfection. and when the food arrives on your plate you realize your nose wasn't lying to you. We had the Atlantic cond and Alaskan pollock both were amazing. Fish wasn't over breaded, fries were well flavored and crispy, and I've never seen my wife eat her Coleslaw so fast. Will eat here again.

I was craving authentic English fish & chips and Whitbie's nailed it! Fast, friendly service. Very reasonable prices. This is a family-owned place run by a family that knows fish. I couldn't finish the generous portion. Chips were *perfect*, with plenty of malt vinegar on the side. Tartar sauce could have been a touch bigger, but I neglected to ask for extra so that's on me. This is my new "go-to" spot for fish & chips. Craving satisfied. I'll be back!

Great food though the staff are a little distant. Not a bad thing but I usually receive friendlier service from their competitors. The food is truly authentic and quite good. They also sell items directly from the UK adding to the British atmosphere. Definitely recommend this to anyone wanting truly authentic fish and chips or Brits feeling a little homesick.

Family owned and operated local restaurant. Whitbie's is a regular stop for us. Staff is friendly, even when busy. Food is made when ordered, so it's always hot and fresh. Large parking lot. Social distancing seating while waiting for your Take Out order. When Dine In is allowed, they are compliant. Love this place!
